if alanis morissette wrote you oughta know about me i would never show my face in public ever again but if stevie nicks wrote silver springs about me and made me perform it while she sang directly at me with murder in her heart and bloodlust in her eyes i would straight up kill myself

It was a beautiful day in San Diego, and a rarity that the Dagger Squad had not a single thing going on. It was Rooster who had sent out the text message about meeting at the beach by the Hard Deck for a game of Dogfight football, their new favorite sport to play. You weren't going to pass up the opportunity to get a tan and watch your favorite aviator run around half naked with sweat dripping down his perfect body.
The beach wasn't that crowded when you and Jake arrived. He decided to take his jeep today, taking the sides off of it to soak up the rays. You made a joke that he didn't need anymore things going to his head, his ego was big enough. He carried the beach bag down to the area that the rest of the team was at.
"Oh, is Y/N finally going to be playing today?" Javy joked, putting his arm around you.
"Does it look like I'm a going to be playing?" You asked, "I'm not sure what possess all of you to want to run around in the hot sun and tackle each other, but I will be enjoying it from over. . . there," you pointed towards a spot a little ways away from where the daggers were.
"You can join when you want," Jake said, hitting Javy's arm off of you, and putting his around your waist, bringing you in for a kiss, "Although, I'd love to see your sweaty body-" His hand went to your ass squeezing it. You squealed and slapped his chest before walking away from him.
Jake watched as you grabbed your beach towel from the bag, and laid it out on the sand. You could feel his eyes on you as you undid you jean shorts and pulled them down your legs. Jake was trying to think of anything and everything besides how good your body looked right now. He wasn't sure what swim suit you put on, but he was expecting a cheetah print two piece that hardly hid anything.
"Enough eye fucking!" Rooster yelled and threw the football at Jake's head. Jake winced as the ball hit him.
"Oh, it's on Bradshaw!" Jake yelled and threw the ball back.
You weren't paying an ounce of attention as the Daggers were deeply versed into their game. Occasionally you'd look up when you heard loud cheering and would see one of them peacocking around. You rolled your eyes a couple times at Jake who was putting on one hell of a show. He looked great, his tan, toned abs glistening with sweat and water. He knew that you were looking at him, and made sure to flex a bit for you.
"Two can play this game, Seresin," You said to yourself.
You were laying on your front, and you knew the perfect way to get Jake's attention. You whistled as you adjusted a bit, your fingers going to the strings behind your back. With ease, you tugged the tie and felt your top loosen. You giggled to yourself as the top fell down your arms and landed on the towel. Your chest was still covered with the way you were laying and holding your book in front of you.
Jake hadn't notice your little costume change, as he was too focused on the game. They daggers took a break, catching their breaths, some of the running towards the water to cool down, others grabbing bottles of water from a cooler Payback brought.
"God damn, Bagman, your ol' lady is fine," Fanboy said, and Payback smacked him upside the head, "What!? She is! Look at her."
"I know my girl is hot," Jake said, a smirk on his face as he drank his water, "I don't need you to me-" He turned around and looked where you were laying at, "What in the hell is she doing?"
"By the looks of it, sunbathing," Bob said and Jake glared at him.
You weren't paying attention, hearing the sounds of Alanis Morissette's 'You Oughta Know' blaring in your ears as you flipped through the pages of your book. You did notice the sudden shade looking over you, and you tilted your head up to see your boyfriend standing over you.
"Hi sweetheart," You smiled.
Jake gave you a fake smile as he laid down in the sand next to you, "What do you think you're doing?"
"Getting some sun," You said, and stretched your arms out in front of you. Jake quickly grabbed a spare towel and threw it over your head, "What are you doing!?" You giggled.
"Stopping you from flashing what's mine to all of North Island," Jake said.
You lifted your head from the towel and looked at Jake, "Yours, huh?"
Jake nodded and climbed on top of your back. You grunted dramatically and Jake rolled his eyes. He held himself up with his hands and leaned down, gently placing a kiss on your bare shoulder.
"Yes, mine," Jake growled in your ear, "You're mine , understand? Mine!"
You somehow maneuvered yourself so you were now on your back, the towel and Jake's body covering your chest. You ran a hand down his sweaty torso.
"If I am yours. . . Why don't you take me home and show me who I belong to?"
"You're funny if you think we're making it that far," Jake said. You squealed and clutched the towel tightly as Jake picked you and your swimsuit top up. He put you over his shoulder and you giggled as he carried you towards his truck.
"They're gonna bang aren't they?" Rooster asked.
"I would say so," Bob shrugged, and then tossed the football to Rooster, "Round 2?"
"Right here. . . on the beach?" Rooster smirked and Bob rolled his eyes, walking back to where the team was getting ready to start the next game.

Looking for a song with a certain theme
Looking for a song with a certain theme Not a particular song, but my friend and I are constructing a music trivia round about artists throwing shade at each other. We are trying to make it balanced for a range of ages and demographics. We cannot think of any 80s songs where an artist is throwing shade at either another artist or another celebrity. This is our list so far, we need one more. Greatest Boxed Set Ever (Prepping for Vol 20)
Sure, I just talked a bunch about the incoming Greatest Songs Ever Vol 20, and I highly encourage you to read the linked blog (I'm kind of proud of myself). This post will be much more esoteric and odd.
That post referenced a fictional collection of CDs named the "Greatest Boxed Set Ever", and this post is that idea taken a step closer to reality. I've already talked about the 2 CDs I made in the early aughts to celebrate my narrow view of our musical world. Using the existing list of Greatest Songs Ever and that same NARROW scope, I've curated a 6-disc boxed set of tracks that, had I continued to make Mixed CDs, would have been volumes 3-6.
It's a weird alternate reality version of my established Greatest Songs Ever, that will lead directly into Vol. 20. I'm sure it sounds confusing, but as I established in that last post, I'm doing this for me, so these are my rules. **shakes fists maniacally at the sky**
Before we can create discs 3-6, we have to establish what tracks were on discs 1 and 2. Finding out what those were, was much harder than I imagined it would be. I somehow lost my copy of the original Greatest Songs Ever disc 1 and most disc drives have a VERY hard time reading 20-year-old burned CDs with heavy printed stickers on them.
I had to enlist the help of the only other person I knew who still had a copy of Disc 1, Lesley Keyes Colwell. With her help and an Xbox 360, the device that could read the discs easiest, I gathered the original tracklists for Discs 1 and 2. Below are the original tracks from what young Sergio (age 17-21) thought were The Greatest Songs Ever.
Tumblr media
Disc 1 - Release Date - 2000-ish
Counterfeit - Limp Bizkit
Bones + Joints - Finger Eleven
Desperately Wanting - Better Than Ezra
Smells Like Teen Spirit - Nirvana
Adam's Song - Blink 182
Is Anybody Home? - Our Lady Peace
Typical Situation - Dave Matthews Band
Machinehead - Bush
Counting Blue Cars - Dishwalla
Papercut - Linkin Park
Everlong - Foo Fighters
When I Come Around - Green Day
Mr. Jones - Counting Crows
Drive - Incubus
Mudshovel - Staind
Save Yourself - Stabbing Westward
Shimmer - Fuel
1979 - Smashing Pumpkins
First things first, I'd stand behind every one of these songs. Choosing Limp Bizkit as track #1 is much more trollish than intended, but I love all this music, so no complaints here.
Tumblr media
Disc 2 - Release Date - 2004-ish
I Believe in a Thing Called Love - The Darkness
A Certain Shade of Green - Incubus
Next to Nothing - Breaking Benjamin
The Best Deceptions - Dashboard Confessional
Bellevue - Fingertight
Sweet Child O' Mine - Guns N' Roses
You Oughta Know - Alanis Morissette
The Anthem - Good Charlotte
Under the Bridge - Red Hot Chili Peppers
Iris - Goo Goo Dolls
Far Behind - Candlebox
Run-Around - Blues Traveler
Interstate Love Song - Stone Temple Pilots
Wait and Bleed - Slipknot
Rain - Audiovent
Scars - Papa Roach
4 A.M. - Our Lady Peace
Good Riddance (Time of Your Life) - Green Day
Again, no regrets about any of these. Actually, a couple of them (Fingertight and Audiovent) are hyper-deep-cuts that deserve any and all attention they can get. There's a reason these CDs stayed in my Truck's rotation.
Here's where it gets weird. Discs 3-6 were never actually created. So, I've combed through my existing list and carefully curated 4 more discs that could fill out the rest of the box set. I gave myself a few parameters to work within. The songs had to be in the genres I listened to during my youth and be released within my lifetime (basically 1983-current). Each disc is given a release date based on the disc's contents to create a faux release cadence similar to a "NOW" collection. The songs can't have been released after the artificial release dates. This will make the songs on the discs progressively get newer as we venture through them.
This may make more sense once I start listing discs, if not, I promise it makes sense in my brain. Also, each CD cannot exceed 80 minutes because that's the length of a standard CDR format disc. With that out of the way, here are discs 3-6. I even threw together some fake disc art. I can't believe I found that weird-ass font again.
Tumblr media
Disc 3 - Release Date - 2005-ish
Sugar, We're Going Down - Fall Out Boy
Time Ago - Black Lab
High Voltage - Linkin Park
Weight of the World - Saliva
Killing in the Name Of - Rage Against the Machine
At the Stars - Better Than Ezra
My Happy Ending - Avril Lavigne
Crush - Dave Matthews Band
Wonderwall - Oasis
Downfall - TrustCompany
Daughters - John Mayer
The Beautiful People - Marilyn Manson
The Dolphin's Cry - Live
No One - Cold
Brian Wilson - Barenaked Ladies
Hey Man, Nice Shot - Filter
Tribute - Tenacious D
I'll Be - Edwin McCain
Okay, here's the first disc where I see some cracks. That TrustCompany song might have been crowned prematurely, and both the Saliva and Live tracks probably should have been rethought, but overall, it's still a strong list.
Tumblr media
Disc 4 - Release Date - 2006-ish
Man in the Box - Alice in Chains
All Downhill From Here - New Found Glory
Harder to Breathe - Maroon 5
Pressure - Skindred
Only Happens When It Rains - Garbage
Joan - Butch Walker
Kickstart My Heart - Motley Crue
Makedamnsure - Taking Back Sunday
Stop This Train - John Mayer
Complicated Questions - Finger Eleven
My Own Summer - Deftones
Fade to Black - Metallica
The Sharpest Lives - My Chemical Romance
Dreams - The Cranberries
Bright Lights - Matchbox Twenty
I Remember You - Skid Row
Mr. Brightside - The Killers
More Than Love - Los Lonely Boys
Live Forever - Oasis
Disc 4 is solid and includes an unprecedented 19 tracks. The only hole is the Los Lonely Boys song. Not that it's a bad song, it's fine, and might even deserve its spot, but the initial reason for its inclusion is super-dubious. That doesn't matter because once a song is enshrined, it CANNOT be un-enshrined.
Tumblr media
Disc 5 - Release Date - 2013-ish
My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark - Fall Out Boy
Volcano Girls - Veruca Salt
Synthesizers - Butch Walker
Her Words Destroyed My Planet - Motion City Soundtrack
Gravemakers & Gunslingers - Coheed & Cambria
Everybody Talks - Neon Trees
Innocence - Halestorm
CrushCrushCrush - Paramore
Tears Don't Fall - Bullet For My Valentine
Thinking of You - Katy Perry
Car Radio - Twenty One Pilots
Open Your Eyes - Guano Apes
Little Black Submarines - The Black Keys
Watch Over You - Alter Bridge
Friday I'm in Love - The Cure
Weatherman - Dead Sara
Second Chance - Shinedown
So What If You Go - Adelitas Way
Kiss From a Rose - Seal
Just like the canonical blog posts, there's quite a date gap between Disc 4 and Disc 5, but that's fine. This is the first disc representing more modern songs, so there aren't really any regrets here (at least not yet). The closest is that Adelitas Way song, but then I listen to it and I totally agree with 2013 Sergio.
Tumblr media
Disc 6 - Release Date - 20...um...23?
Shut Up and Dance - Walk the Moon
I Think I'm OKAY - Machine Gun Kelly Feat. Yungblud & Travis Barker
Here To Mars - Coheed & Cambria
New Horizons - Flyleaf
Roman Holiday - Halsey
Drown - Bring Me the Horizon
How About You - Staind
The Jester - Badflower
Thinking Out Loud - Ed Sheeran
Dreams - Van Halen
?
?
?

?

Oh no, where are the last 10 of Disc 6? Good question, it's the theme of Vol 20! That's right, I have built all these fictitious discs with the sole purpose of justifying the theme of Vol 20. Do you feel dumb yet? I hope not, I put a lot of work into this weird fever dream, so try to enjoy yourself.
Since these discs are basically full of rock tracks that I would have chosen had this project continued as a Mixed CD adventure, Vol 20 continues that idea. 10 new Greatest Songs Ever in the vein of the original aughts-era disc releases. Yeah, I get that I'm the only person this appeals to, and I get that anyone just now familiarizing themselves with my list will think I'm insane, but let me throw this out there. If you've made it this far and you're still reading ... you either understand the nature of this project and "get it" or you deserve to be confused.
With all of this "on wax," the next step is finally typing out the post for Vol. 20. It'll be out soon, I promise. Until then, please enjoy the ongoing Youtube playlist that is, THE GREATEST SONGS EVER!

Big Sky: 3x02 Thoughts
This episode was interesting but I had lots of thoughts:
I'm curious as to why Walt is scared of Sunny but I'm thinking maybe we got a very minute glimpse of why when she gets mad at Cormac. And I also think it's intriguing that she doesn't want Buck or Cormac to know Walt is out there. Is Buck Walt's father? Does Cormac know he has a brother? If yes on both counts, where do they think Walt is now?
So Sunny thought by singing to the backpacker as he died painfully that that helped somewhat? Weird. I could be wrong, but I don't think Sunny wants Walt to hurt anyone (besides not wanting to be put in the crosshairs)
Okay, what is it with that girl Emily? Like, stop pulling your phone out to record every little thing! She's so nosy and I don't really care for that or her to be quite honest
okay I LOVE LOVE LOVE how Cassie literally calls Beau right up at Denise's suggestion of Jenny or "Beau-Beau", like literally no hesitation
even though I would love to see Beau/Cassie as a thing, I do enjoy their friendship/partnership as well - either way they have genuine chemistry (so much more chemistry than compared to Beau/Jenny imho) and I am delighted every time I get to see it - Jensen and Kylie have an unbreakable rhythm that just works, even right down to them sharing the same space on screen - I love that she sees right through his shit and has no problem saying so
I do wonder if Beau will mention the Cormac thing to Cassie at some point; he definitely clocked that little look between them & the show made sure that we as the audience saw it just like Beau
and enter the reason Beau/Cassie will never be a thing: the whole Beau/Jenny thing they're pushing (insert eye roll here, Jenny and Beau are literally the same character, the only difference is Beau has been brought in to soften Jenny up some, if his constant prodding at her about Tonya is anything to go by, even though he's literally going through his own issues) - Elwood, Mr. Showrunner dude, you're making it so obvious: Jenny being in soft colors around Beau, always looking good (and a little softer), sometimes even matching shades of colors in certain items of clothing without full on matching; Jenny's little look when Beau mentions that Cassie called him to help her and he's going so Jenny is stuck helping Tonya; Jenny sitting on Cassie's couch next to him, shoes off, all relaxed, arms back, and looking comfortable; Beau not introducing Cassie to Emily even though she and Emily exchanged a smile; "Sounds like you two had a day." "Getting to be a thing"; every time we see Beau and Jenny walking side by side in frame, the framing itself clearly shows a pairing, matching in looks and sometimes pace (like when Beau comes back to the station from the campsite, they're literally move in sync)
The scene between Beau and Emily was sweet; he loves his daughter very much and he's struggling, a lot of jealousy with Avery (and with what happens with Avery later on in the episode, I wonder how things will play out with him and Carla when she finally comes into the mix; Jenny did say he was still in love with her back in 2x18 and he didn't deny it but confirmed it in a roundabout way)
I think it's very interesting that Emily, Avery, and the other two girls were talking about the lyrics to Alanis Morisette's "You Oughta Know", especially considering this is after Beau has left and not to mention they then discuss the missing couple
Idk much about Donno (haven't seen season 2 yet) but I find him hilarious sometimes
Yes, I may have squee'd when "Sunny" met "Beau" - yes I have a weird thing when my faves/fandoms collide...don't judge me
omg RAVI you DID NOT!!!! - yes, I know he's Luke in this show, I'm kidding, but I have to give the actor credit, it's nice to see him change it up
I now wonder what Luke and Paige's real story is and why Avery is so interested in what they're doing - is it possibly something similar or related to the case of the week story we got in this episode? Like they have this $ and someone is looking for it and "will never stop coming" for them or is it just Avery being a busybody like Emily? He seemed way too interested in that journal that appeared to be in some kind of code?
oooo why do I see a possible confrontation between Sunny and Emily in the future? "Never get between a mama bear and her cub"
the SPN easter eggs/nods: alright, this is most likely an unpopular opinion but honestly, I wasn't too crazy about them - the first one with the US Marshall and Beau saying you'd be surprised who tries to act like a fake Federal agent was an appropriately veiled nod; the second one with the salt - unnecessary. We already had one in the episode and the supernatural has nothing to do with the show or even Beau as a character. I appreciate that they want to give a nod to the possible SPN fans watching but it's not necessary more than once - this isn't Jensen's show that he's executive producing or something, this show existed before Jensen, has its own story, and I don't like it when it becomes so overt in the narrative that it takes me right out of that story - I don't see Dean or Jensen when watching Beau, I see Beau - I don't want to be reminded of either the actor or another character the actor played once upon a time, that tends to ruin the story for me and take me out of it and then I can't take it seriously - the US Marshall thing was enough - I hope they don't continue this trend
okay the first few times Beau mispronounces Poppernak's name were funny but now it's starting to get old; either pick a nickname or call the guy by his name, no more variations please
Cassie, my love, I get 20 years is a long time, especially with no recent crimes to show a pattern, but that case was worth looking into, if for nothing else to rule it out
LOVE the housewarming scene - also LOVE how Jenny brought the right gift (no offense to Beau) - though I winced when Beau got worried and Cassie says "I would have told you if I thought you should be worried" (I do wonder if that's going to come up when he has to go all "Liam Neeson" later on); my heart broke for him when he got that undelivered text back (Jensen played this scene very well, I thought he once again shined here; I am really thinking Beau's loss definitely had to do with the cartel he mentioned before and his brother; that reaction Jensen played speaks to me as not just a worried or overprotective parent but also one scared to lose their kid/anyone else & to something they can't/are helpless to protect them from)
Emily, you busybody you, here's a tip: you should have run before taking a picture after seeing the blood on him; and if for some reason you thought he was possibly hurt, why not ask him rather than taking pictures - girl needs to learn to mind her business and keep safe, she's way too nosy and that's going to get her in trouble at some point (hence the cliffhanger)
Hi Writers, me again, just a few more logistical questions:
1) How did the "drunk" get in with a needle? Isn't it standard police procedure to make sure someone is unarmed when taken into custody? How do you know the drunk didn't have a gun or a knife? Not to mention finding out an identity of said drunk?
2) if Emily is really a busybody (she is) and she likes to catch everything on her phone, wouldn't it make sense that she would have muted her snapshot sounds when taking pics on the DL? How else could she get discreet pics of any drama for her podcast? Everyone would know she was taking pictures
3) Are you telling me that Poppernak not only let Jenny run into that cell but also stood back and watched as the "drunk" tried to stab her with the needle? And she only had Donno as backup? Not to mention, when Donno yells for help before they open the cell, are you telling me that not one single officer or detective in the precinct ran to help? That they didn't hear the same sounds Jenny and Poppernak did before rushing into the room?
4) Why on earth would Avery allow Emily to go check out another trail on her own? Two people from their party are currently missing, Sunny and Buck have warned them all not to go alone anywhere and that they use a buddy system, she's sixteen and doesn't know the area nor is she an experienced backpacker nor does she have any gear with her...so why would he leave her alone?
5) Even Paul said it, do they really only send one officer/agent to take someone into Witness Protection? Especially since Beau even offered an escort, meaning he even knew that one agent is not the usual? Meaning shouldn't that have been questioned more than Beau calling to verify who she is? Especially since he sends Poppernak to follow them?
6) Alright, I know this is a little complex and tangled so I get it but if Beau found the water bottle, looking around with Cassie for this backpacker in an official capacity, how is that not brought back to the station as evidence? Especially with Beau saying to Buck and Sunny "and sometimes people make them disappear"? I get that maybe this is not an official missing persons case at this point in time, and nothing is definitive yet (like the two different tracks), but that seems weird to me, that he would let her keep it at her PI office, because once the truth comes out about the backpacker's death, that's going to be considered evidence that should have been tested (which is exactly why Beau grabs it the way he does & Cassie holds onto it the way she does, then has it in a bag) that if charges are made against a suspect, the defense can literally argue it was tampered with/collected by non-legal, non-official means
7) Why was Paul willing to go into Witness Protection right then and there if he had Camille waiting back at the cabin? I get he might have thought he didn't have a choice but how would he have gotten word to her? How would he have thought she wouldn't be found by Tonya eventually?
I enjoyed the episode, I really did. I'm glad we got some Beau and Cassie time; I enjoy their dynamic immensely. It's also nice to see Beau settling in and how it affects all of the other dynamics around them. It should get even more interesting once his ex shows up, Emily is in danger, and we find out whatever is going on with Avery.

Jagged Little Pill arrives on Broadway as a musical with angst to spare: Review - Entertainment Weekly News
Tumblr media
Jagged Little Tablet (musical)
“Ooh, this could accumulate messy,” sings the ensemble of Broadway’s Jagged Little Tablet on the tip of Act 2. It’s in actuality barely from “Palms Natty” — no longer a tune from the eponymous 1995 Alanis Morissette album that inspired your complete musical, however relatively from Below Rug Swept, the Canadian singer-songwriter’s 2002 birth.
Jagged Little Tablet is, indeed, messy: chaotic, advanced, overstuffed, manner ambitious, and savagely emotional. But any Gen Xer who fell in treasure with Morissette’s album 25 years ago and performed it on repeat in her dorm room in Michigan remembers loving it for correct that motive. “And I’m here, to remind you/ Of the mess you left while you occur to went away,” goes one lyric from the brilliantly vicious breakup tune “You Oughta Know” (sung, or relatively shredded, on Broadway by Lauren Patten — more on her neatly-known particular person-making performance later). Who’s timorous of a dinky mess?
In no design Diablo Cody, the whip-natty Oscar-profitable screenwriter (Juno) tasked with taking Morissette’s anthems and patching them into a workable spot (direction is by Diane Paulus, of Waitress and Pippin standing). She begins with a character named Mary Jane “M.J.” Healy (Elizabeth Stanley) — inspired, for certain, by Morissette’s “Mary Jane” — a Connecticut supermom who makes use of oxycodone to survive the day-to-day indignities of suburban better-center-class life. (“I’ve gotten to some extent the effect I will’t feel anything!” she chirps proudly.) M.J.’s husband, Steve (Sean Allan Krill), is a workaholic with a hardcore porn behavior. Their 18-twelve months-worn son, Carve (Derek Klena), is a Harvard-breeze sq.-jawed image of Americana perfection (cue Morissette’s “Excellent”: “Don’t fail to take into accout to design shut first dwelling/ Don’t fail to take into accout to defend that smile on your face”). And their 16-twelve months-worn adopted shaded daughter, Frankie (Celia Rose Gooding), is a bisexual activist with a penchant for protests and barely-there jean shorts (Emily Rebholz designed the awesomely grunge-dapper costumes); naturally, she clashes along with her athleisure-clad mother at each flip.
Jagged‘s script is artful however no longer unpleasant, quirky however no longer unrelatable. When Frankie calls her mother “the literal worst,” her girlfriend Jo (Patten) comes aid with this zinger-gash-reward: “No manner, your mother is iconic! She’s one salad a ways from a psychotic ruin. I live for it.” And Jo has her cling parental factors. “Dear Jesus,” prays Jo, imitating her Bible-beating mother, “please don’t let my most realistic doubtless baby be a homosexual. Especially no longer a form of evident gays who wears performance fleece and utility sandals. In the title of Fox Recordsdata, Amen.”
Cody also smartly units the enduring “Ironic” in a writers’ workshop, the effect a bunch of clever-ass youth leap all around the tune’s lyrics. (Morissette is a extraordinarily correct sport.) “An worn man grew to alter into 98/ He won the lottery and died the next day to come/ It’s a shaded skim for your Chardonnay/ It’s a loss of life row pardon two minutes too leisurely/ And isn’t it ironic, don’t you rep…” sings Frankie. Interrupts one heart-broken student: “Protect up, wait a 2d, that’s in actuality no longer ironic?” Provides a pretentious one: “Gorgeous? If we’re using irony as outlined in Greek tragedy, I don’t stumble on how, like, a skim for your beverage applies…” One other piles on: “That’s no longer irony, that’s correct, like, s—ty.”
Because here's 2019 — and no longer fantasyland — Cody complicates issues extra with a sexual assault at a drunken high college celebration. The girl, Bella (Kathryn Gallagher, heartbreaking) used to be blackout inebriated; the boy, Andrew (Logan Hart), is rich. No one, along with Carve, did anything to intervene. It is, alternatively, nastily debated on social media. We stumble on your complete ingredient later, reenacted as an out-of-body dance — overchoreographed by Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, whose unusual movement here is in every other case relatively striking — to the tune of “Predator,” a new Morissette tune. (A chunk bigger than half the numbers in the present are from JLP; there are also a few from Supposed Old school Infatuation Junkie and Below Rug Swept, a pair new ones, and even a tune from the 1998 Meg Ryan–Nicolas Cage film City of Angels.)
Along the vogue, we plow by design of protests, marriage counseling, aid-alley opioid ratings, bitchy Connecticut espresso klatches, an overdose, and an awfully terrible breakup. That’s when Jo discovers Frankie in mattress with but any other classmate, Phoenix (Antonio Cipriano) — “He used to be carrying canines tags with out a shirt like a douche,” Jo yells — and vents with “You Oughta Know.” Patten begins the first halting words in nearly a advise: “I want you to take cling of / That I’m comfortable for you.” But as the tune builds in volume and depth, it’s determined she’s no longer merely singing; she’s making an are attempting to tug the treasure out of her body. It’s an emotional exorcism — and a performance that leaves her, and the audience, exhausted and exhilarated after its rock-concert-level conclusion.
“You Oughta Know” is also one in all the few songs that sounds dynamite. Tom Kitt, the Pulitzer Prize–profitable Subsequent to Typical composer, did the tune supervision, orchestrations, and preparations (he did the same for Head Over Heels, that contains the tune of the Fling-Fling’s, and the Green Day musical American Idiot). However the sound mixing on the Broadhurst Theatre is doing his work — and Morissette’s — no favors. Too essentially singers, especially Stanley, discontinue up in a shouting match with the musicians. (Spoiler: The orchestra will constantly design shut.) And in the finale — a sun-saturated self-actualization ensemble amount paying homage to Subsequent to Typical’s “Gentle,” Spring Awakening’s “The Track of Red Summer season,” and Dear Evan Hansen’s “All we stumble on is sky.… All we stumble on is gentle” finale — when we sooner or later accumulate a snippet of “Thank U,” Morissette’s 1998 harmonious hymn to gratitude, it’s obliterated by the “You Learn” counterpoint. Well, as a clever lady as soon as acknowledged…you live, you study. B

Note
17, 27, 38
17. There are a few mutuals on her who I’d love to actually be friends with, but I’m horrible at social interaction and striking up conversations, even online. Some of y’all have spectacular taste, especially in music. :)
27. One of my ex-boyfriends had absolutely glorious hair – a lovely shade of brown, thick, and wavy. It was a running joke that I would marry his hair. In fact, a while after we broke up, one of my friends Photoshopped his hair onto a picture of her cat and declared that to be my new boyfriend. If only X had been as good as his hair.
38. “Amelia” by Joni Mitchell reminds me of the aforementioned X, because our first significant conversation was about Hejira and specifically that song. It’s kind of weird because my copy of the record was given to me by someone else who I was very close to (not dating or anything like that) who died a couple of years ago, actually just before I met X.
“Gloria” by Laura Branigan reminds me of a friend who I’ll be visiting in New York in a week. It’s an inside joke between us, that I don’t remember the origin of, but at this point we just sing it a lot, occasionally in public…
The entire Alanis Unplugged album kind of reminds me of my mother, only because she was obsessed with it when it came out, and “You Oughta Know” is one of the first songs I ever remember hearing. On a somewhat unrelated note, it’s bizarre to think that I’m older than she was when I was born.
I have a list of songs that remind me of certain people, but I honestly don’t feel like writing about them right now.

Pasadena’s new annual 2-day festival is one of the best music line-ups around for those who feel Coachella has gone too pop. Taking place outside of the Rose Bowl, the Arroyo Seco Weekend 2018 contained a great line-up, craft foods, and a whole lotta dust.
For cost reasons, I could only do one day, and chose Day 2 because of the headlining combo of Robert Plant and Kings of Leon, neither of whom I had seen yet. I arrived early to get the lay of the land. The festival grounds are split in half by an empty river basin, and for some reason this year they swapped thing around, moving the main stages to the east side while keeping the smaller Willow stage on the west side. This made the walk between main stages longer, which made it a greater challenge to catch the full shows of each act if you’re alternating stages (there was no buffer time between headliners).
I’ll talk music first:
Trampled by Turtles – I began the day with these bluegrass stalwarts. Lining up on stage in a democratic line-up, and forgoing drums all together, the group created a higher energy romp with its numerous stringed instruments. Highlight was “Codeine”, the first song of the group I ever heard, though the tracks from their latest album Life is Good on the Open Road came across great live.
Violent Femmes – This was my second time seeing the Femmes, having previously caught them at Coachella some years before. They remain a very solid live show, knowing which tracks of theirs are crowd pleasers (“Blister in the Sun”, “Kiss Off”), but thankfully weren’t afraid to throw in one of their newer tracks (“Memory”) and get into some musical weirdness. Despite having the entire stage, the three piece stayed closely huddled together, though had help from a saxophonist on a few tracks.
The Bangles – I’m not very familiar with the Bangles’ catalogue, only knowing “Hazy Shade of Winter” off the top of my head, which the group were finishing as I arrived. The four ladies hit the right notes for their crowd, playing hits like “Manic Monday” and “Walk Like an Egyptian”, and digging out material from their earliest albums. I was a bit distracted during this set, having run into a friend in the audience, but I left the set with admirable feelings for the band.
Alanis Morissette – It was easy to see there was a lot of excitement for Alanis’ return, just based on the huge crowd assembled in front of her stage. I took a seat at a distance to watch the set, only able to set it off the screens. The first things to notice is, despite Alanis ruling the airwaves of rock and pop radio in the 90’s, she most definitely is a rock star. Playing guitar and harmonica, she owned her stage as she broke out her huge array of hits. Maybe because she was aware of the back-to-back line-up, Alanis broke out some of her biggest songs early in the set, giving fans “Head Over Heels”, “Hand in My Pocket”, and “Ironic” while the set was still young. She closed with “You Oughta Know”, leaving the audience satisfied.
Gary Clark Jr. – The man remains one of the few modern guitar gods. While his songwriting doesn’t quite live up to his musicianship, the new song he premiered showed he’s getting a better handle on memorable rock songwriting. Otherwise, he’s still a blast to watch when he gets into solo mode.
Robert Plant – The man’s a legend, hands down, and drawing the biggest crowd of the day, it was clear the whole fest knew it. While I’m sure most would have preferred to see a Zeppelin reunion, Plant thankfully did not deny the fans songs from his old band’s catalogue. “Going to California” of course drew huge love, as did “Babe I’m Gonna Leave You”. I also personally loved hearing his 2014 single “Rainbow”, which is more proof that the guy is still a strong and relevant songwriter. Very happy I got to see this performance.
Third Eye Blind – A completely different vibe than Plant, but just as enjoyable. 3EB is a band I’ve been listening to for decades, so when they hit the stage with the amazing “Graduate”, I couldn’t help lose my s**t a bit. Frontman Stephen Jenkins has a great handle on crowd interaction. Admitting that they were only really playing the fest for fun (and to take a break from recording new music), they inserted a number of recent songs (“Company of Strangers”) with the singalong hits (“Jumper”, “Never Let You Go”). He also surprised the crowd by bringing out a 16 year old ingenue named Lilly who sang on their upcoming covers EP, and wowed the crowd by taking over lead vocals on “Motorcycle Drive By”. This is one of those bands I could see any time and enjoy myself immensely.
Kings of Leon – The final act of the night had a lot of pressure riding on them, and for the first few songs, it seems like they were feeling the pressure. Frontman Caleb Followill was a bit stiff and unengaging, especially in comparison to the very loose Stephen Jenkins. Maybe it was the rest of the group’s energy and happy spirits while playing, but Caleb eventually started to show some charisma verve to help make the songs pop. The Kings’ rhythm section deserves a ton of credit for adding a strong dose of boogey to their rock and roll hits. The group writes perfect stadium songs (“Walls” gradual build took the crowd by storm), but seem like they are still getting used to playing such large stages, despite their success. They closed with breakout hit “Sex on Fire”, a rocking rave up that helped the crowd burned off the last of their energy before heading back to their cars.
And now, for the fest itself:
The Good – There’s a great array of food to choose from, even though all of it is ungodly expensive ($10 for a scoop of ice cream???). If you’re Vegan, you would not go hungry here. Thankfully, the Bai booth was back again with free drink give aways, and there were water refill stations, so no one would go thirsty. There were also cool sight exhibits like the NASA dome, and a Focus on Flowers exhibit. The fest is good about letting people bring in chairs and blankets, but also wisely marked off the sitting/camp out areas around the stages so those folks who wanted to be up close didn’t have to fight there way through the campers. Getting into the fest and parking wasn’t hard, and there were a number of maps around the fest to find your way around.
The Bad – The walk from the parking to the entrance was a long journey and signage was poor. As mentioned, the food is crazy expensive, even by festival standards. On the Oak stage, the vocal sound seemed too low, hurting the bands’ performances. While hard to enforce, the fest should really consider a dedicated smokers area, so those in the crowd don’t have to be subject to cigarette smoke blowing into their face while they try to enjoy the music. Getting out of the fest was a gigantic, disorganized clusterfuck, with only a few employees swinging around sticks with little care for what good it did. It took nearly 30 minutes to get out of the parking area, with long periods of no movement.
Live Report: @arroyosecowknd - Day 2 Feat. @KingsofLeon @RobertPlant @ThirdEyeBlind @tbtduluth @Alanis @GaryClarkJr @ViolentFemmes and more! Pasadena's new annual 2-day festival is one of the best music line-ups around for those who feel Coachella has gone too pop.

Songs About Jealousy: 60 Jealous Love Songs
Fear. Anger. Mistrust. Envy. Apprehension. It’s not one of the nicer sides of love, but jealousy is a part of it. When you’re with someone you care deeply about it can drive you a little crazy, have you doubting yourself and your relationship, and make you wonder What does this person even see in me? Is it any wonder there are so many songs about jealousy?
Whether you’re watching the one you love with someone else across a room full of faces, lusting after your best friend’s girl, or just wondering what you’d do if you were her man, there’s a jealous song that might not make you feel any better but maybe a little less alone. Check out the list below or listen to it on Spotify.
1. Jealous Bone, Patty Loveless And I know I’m gonna run you off, if I don’t learn to let you go. But ooh oh you make me lose control.
2. Jealousy, Natalie Merchant Is she the sort you’ve always thought, could make you what you’re not?
3. My Best Friend’s Girl, The Cars You’re always dancing down the street with your suede blue eye-eyes. And every new boy that you meet doesn’t know the real surprise.
4. Lounge Act, Nirvana I’ll arrest myself and wear a shield. I’ll go out of my way to prove I still smell her on you.
5. Hey Jealousy, Gin Blossoms The past is gone but something might be found to take its place… Hey jealousy.
6. Mr. Brightside, The Killers Jealousy, turning saints into the sea, swimming through sick lullabies, choking on your alibis.
7. No One Else, Weezer I want a girl who will laugh for no one else. When I’m away she puts her makeup on the shelf.
8. When It Was Me, Paula Oh, oh, and I’m not jealous, no, I’m not. Oh, oh, I just want everything she’s got.
9. Revenge, P!nk Featuring Eminem I’m daydreamin’, let me count the ways how I’ll get you or how I’ll make you pay.
10. You Can’t Do That, The Beatles I got something to say that might cause you pain. If I catch you talking to that boy again, I’m gonna let you down and leave you flat. Because I told you before, oh you can’t do that.
11. Every Breath You Take, The Police Oh can’t you see, you belong to me. How my poor heart breaks, with every breath you take.
12. When I Was Your Man, Bruno Mars Should have gave you all my hours when I had the chance. Take you to every party ’cause all you wanted to do was dance. Now my baby’s dancing but she’s dancing with another man.
13. You Belong with Me, Taylor Swift If you can see I’m the one who understands you. Been here all along so why can’t you see, you belong with me.
14. That’s Him Over There, Nina Simone I guess that you know what extremes I have gone to, to prove that I didn’t care. You were so anxious to meet the dream that I’ve hung onto. Well, that’s him, that’s my Jim, over there.
15. She’s Got You, Patsy Cline I’ve got your class ring that proved you cared. And it still looks the same as when you gave it, dear. The only thing different, the only thing new, I’ve got these little things, she’s got you.
16. Gallery, Mario Vazquez And girl you’re just way too fine. Gotta be treated as one of a kind. Girl use your mind. Don’t be just another dime.
17. Girl Crush, Little Big Town I want to taste her lips. Yeah, ’cause they taste like you.
18. Green is the Colour, Pink Floyd Envy is the bond between the hopeful and the damned.
19. Jealous Guy, John Lennon I’m sorry that I made you cry. Oh my I didn’t want to hurt you. I’m just a jealous guy.
20. Jessie’s Girl, Rick Springfield I feel so dirty when they start talking cute. I wanna tell her that I love her but the point is probably moot.
21. Satellite of Love, Lou Reed I’ve been told that you’ve been bold with Harry, Mark, and John. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday to Thursday. With Harry, Mark, and John.
22. Who Is He (And What Is He to You?), Bill Withers Now when I add the sum of you and me, I get confused when I keep coming up with three. You’re too much for one man, but not enough for two.
23. If I Lost You, Garbage There are times when I see you talking to other girls, I feel insecure. And every time I see you walking out, I wonder if you’re coming back to me.
24. Jealous (I Ain’t With It) So is it really my fault, I get a shiver when I see you with those other guys.
25. Jealous Again, The Black Crows Stop, understand me. I ain’t afraid of losing face. Stop, understand me. I ain’t afraid of ever losing faith in you.
26. Tell Her No, The Zombies And if she should tell you come closer, and if she tempts you with her charms, tell her no no no no no-no-no-no.
27. Ring the Alarm, Beyoncé Ring the alarm, I been through this too long, but I’ll be damned if I see another chick on your arm.
28. I (Who Have Nothing), Ben E. King I, I who have no one, must watch you go dancing by, wrapped in the arms of somebody else when, darling, it’s I who loves you.
29. Jealous Hearted Blues, Ma Rainey Going to buy me a bulldog, to watch him while I sleep. Just to keep my man from making his midnight creep. Yes I’m jealous, jealous. Jealous hearted me.
30. Jealousy, Queen Oh jealousy you tripped me up. Jealousy you brought me down. You bring me sorrow you cause me pain. Jealousy when will you let go?
31. Treat You Better, Shawn Mendes I won’t lie to you, I know he’s just not right for you.
32. The Jealous Kind, Joe Cocker It’s just that I’m so afraid someone might steal you away, I’d lose my mind. So please forgive me for the way I act sometimes. I’m the jealous kind.
33. I Want Your Girlfriend to Be My Girlfriend Too, Reel Big Fish There’s a little girl I know, you might know her too. She looks so good, she looks so cute, standin’ next to you. And I don’t know what to do.
