Temperance wasn't sure what it was about him.

Richter had never made much of an impression on them before. But they'd sailed through high school without a care in the world. They hardly noticed anything or anyone. He'd probably been there, and they just hadn't been paying attention, and then they'd left town.

Unfortunate circumstances led them back home, but that didn't mean they were going to give up on the Youtube grind. It was what was paying off their student loans, of course, so there wasn't much choice either way. They were back and looking for new leads on anything paranormal and they found him.

Temp had sat through the interview easily. Asked all the right questions at all the right times. Responded appropriately. Laughed when they were meant to, all the great things an interviewer did, they did. Things had a tendency to come easy to them, after all. But they were more than just enjoying the interview, they were enraptured by it. By him.

Maybe it was wrong, or weird to be so attracted to a man telling them about all the spilled guts he'd seen but they couldn't help themself. There was just something about him. Maybe it was their similar interests? Maybe it was having someone so engaged in what they were doing and saying? They didn't know. By the time the interview was over, Temperance was practically squirming in their seat.

They smile at Richter, glancing back at their camera set up. They stand and move to turn it off. Normally they'd leave it on to catch some post production, maybe some b-roll, anything like that. But not tonight. Tonight, they were going to shoot their shot. And who knew? Maybe luck would be on their side.

"listen." Their voice is casual. "i'm not normally so bold..."

Not on things like this, anyway. They'd only ever had one partner sexually and that had been one of the most awkward and uncomfortable experiences of their life.

"but like... i think you're really hot. and that was an amazing interview. and as much as i'd love to get to work on post-production... maybe." They stroll over to him, lightly lay a hand on his shoulder. "maybe we could spend a little more time together tonight?"

Who would've thought that Eskel would end up with another sorceress? Well, he himself did not, but now he was here, accompanied by Anastasia. As if traveling with a witch wasn't somehow awkward enough (after Eskel got in a verbal fight with two of those before and he has never been so fond of them), she was nice and she intrigued Eskel ... with the scars she bore. That gave him the feeling of being familiar with her already... and he couldn't stop imagining how she earned them. He knew how he got his own, given, but - the other sorceresses he met had looked unharmed.

Flawless.

Smooth.

Just like rain would run down a lotos flower's petals, it felt like human profanity like scars, or crossed legs, skin conditions, rotting teeth would pass on a sorceress. Like those things also were no issue for Witchers. They couldn't fall ill or have rotten teeth, but they bore scars of so many kinds and all over their body. While other Witchers showed their scars and were proud, Eskel wore the facial scarring as a permanent reminder to never run from Destiny again.

And it must be Destiny now, that he would run into these powerful women on end, either magical themselves or immune to such.

They rode alongside another in silence for some time now, but Eskel grew uncomfortable, getting squirmy. Not that he wasn't used to people being completely silent - he could often bear that much better than some nonsense talk - with Anastasia, he felt weird. Wanted to do something, go forth, have an adventure or something to talk about...

But his head perked and he looked around, pausing Scorpion to come to a halt. He raised a hand.

"Shhh," he said, "did you hear that?"

Maybe he was just a little too jumpy now, but he would swear he heard something drop to the forest floor. It was not a bang, it wasn't even a whimper he heard, just the impact that made Eskel's feelers go off.

"Someone's here. We might find the monster sooner than anticipated."

He gave Anastasia a look. "If that is what this peacock of a nobleman thought it is, we're fucked." He whispered the last two words, as if swearing in front of a Sorceress was something you shouldn't do. Usually, Eskel didn't care. He swore and cussed in front of Triss all the time, and he's yelled at Yennefer before, so ... they've always had a sassy comeback, now was the time to find out if Anastasia lived up to the royal's reputation.

Another sound, a rustling rushing through the woods like a whisper blowing through the leaves of a massive elm, made Eskel more alert and he unmounted Scorpion. In the heat of his movements, and tearing the coat off that was supposed to keep him warm, he revealed his upper arms and his itching rash showed. A rash, that's what he thought it was. That it looked like an ancient Aen Elle rune, he did not know, that it was ancient and powerful magic, he also did not know.

So What Do You Do When Supernatural Bullshit Fails You? You Fall Back On Your Mad Scientist Roots And You Make A Portal Gun. So That's Exactly What Danny Plans To Do.

Unfortunately Staying Alive And Building Questionably Safe Portal Technology Requires Money And Supplies, So He Ends Up Wandering From City To City Doing Odd Jobs/Fixing Up Busted Tech For Cash Or Unwanted Electronics For His "Operation: Get Home" Needs. This Obviously Ends In A Few Superhero Encounter Shenanigans.

Though He Always Ends Up Back Near Central City, Both On The Off Chance The Natural Portal Will Open Up Again And Because Out Of All The Superheroes That Apparently Exist In This Universe The Speedsters Are His Favorite (Red Robin Is Solidly His Second Favorite Ever Since The Gotham Vigilante Gave Him A Large Coffee Filled With Enough Caffeine To Kill A Man).

Unbeknownst To Danny However Is That Every Hero/Vigilante He Has Encountered Has Come To At Least One Of The Following Conclusions; 1. The Baudelaires had been in New York for a few days now, living in the house of their new guardian: Theodore Beneventi. New York reminded Violet of the town where she grew up, only bigger. Much, much bigger.

Mr. Beneventi, who had told them they could call him Theo, seemed like their most normal guardian so far. For starters, he was not afraid of turning on the stove, which was very nice, because it meant the Baudelaires could enjoy a warm meal for the first time in a few weeks. There were no snakes in the house either, which, to be fair, was to be expected. And of course, here, they were not ordered to do horribly long and difficult chores.

The other thing that differed from their last guardians, was that Theo already had a family. He had a wife, Andrea, two sons, and a baby daughter, who was already getting along great with Sunny.

Violet felt like their luck might have finally turned. Even the terrifying shadow of Count Olaf didn't seem as scary, considering that Theo was an FBI agent. She did not usually consider herself lucky, not since the terrible fire that had killed her parents, at least. But for the first time in months, she was feeling much more hopeful than usual.

And, it's with that noteworthy hopefulness that she left the room she shared with her siblings, and tip-toed to the kitchen. It was still early in the morning, but she was awake and craving a glass of milk.

"Good morning," she said politely when she saw that the kitchen area wasn't empty. Theo was already there. He was very nice, and she already felt comfortable around him, so she poured herself a glass of milk. "The view is very beautiful from here," she commented, not only to make conversation but also because it was true.

Shen Yuan is two things:

1) chronically ill

2) rich rich

He couldn’t count on both hands the number of health scares he’s had, but he fought years to move out of his parents house and live independently!

…. Until he was found half dead by his sister and nearly died in the hospital. No one even knew until she showed up.

The smart thing- the thing his parents want- would be to sell his apartment and move back in so his family can watch him. But frankly, Shen Yuan was reaching the end of his 20s. He didn’t want to be 30 in his parents home being scolded for buying yet another anime figurine and fussed over all hours of the day by nannies.

So, like the adults they were, they compromised. Shen Yuan could live independently IF he put together a complete staff of live in specialists to help him. He had a few months to do so, and all had to be thoroughly background checked.

Which is how he ended up with an old estate filled with specialists who all bore striking resemblances to the cast of Proud Immortal Demon Way.
