the other spanner in the works for whatever the hell viago and lucanis had going on is that lucanis blatantly knows viago really quite well. he brings him up a lot in banter and he’s always referring to aspects of viago’s personality (his love of art, for example) with a fair amount of confidence that he knows what viago would do or say or think. i do think lucanis’ uh minimal social circle—he doesn’t have that many other people he could talk about—plus his generally lightning fast analysis of the people around him possibly exaggerate this, but it’s noticeable. but this can’t mean they knew each other that well prior to the ossuary, surely?? because viago in tevinter nights is on about caterina’s “demon of a grandson” when he thinks she’s not listening. i suppose there’s a terrible version of events here for everyone involved, where they did actually work together for a while and lucanis had a crush and noticed everything while viago had Increasing Paranoia, culminating in the dagger debacle after which lucanis was “ignored”. it would check out in that lucanis doesn’t seem the type to develop feelings from a distance and he does seem the type to immediately develop or assume himself to have developed feelings the very first time he works with someone outside his own family for a while. that or lucanis is getting his info from spending a really significant amount of time in treviso right now when he’s not with rook?

John Seed is a comfort character for some people. Folks like to ship him with their deputies or craft redemption arcs for him.
There's nothing wrong with that, obviously.
But I just can't wrap my head around it.
There's nothing comforting about the way John Seed treated Joey Hudson. I don't understand why the ordeal she went through doesn't seem to matter to fans of his.
She was bait for the rookie deputy and nothing more, because she wasn't going to give in and join the cult.
He terrorized Joey and the rest of Fall's End, stooping to the lowest, most inhumane levels to get his way. Some even theorize that he hurt the "sinners" in his care just because he wanted to, for malicious, sadistic reasons that didn't have anything to do with the cult. At worst, some people go as far as to speculate that he raped Joey.
It's easy to see why someone might come to that conclusion. The way he acts is deplorable and he makes everything feel extremely personal, sometimes in ways that can be interpreted as sexually charged. He'll do anything in order to get his way because "no" is antithetical to him. He regularly flies off the handle, so much so that Joseph is threatening to cast him out. All the touching and getting right up in the player's face is so uncomfortable and obsessive (which is the point, but I digress).
So why does he get to be redeemed and venerated by fans? Don't his actions warrant consequences?
Are people willing to let him off the hook because he's attractive? Because he had a horrible, abusive childhood? Obviously he's got a lot more lore than most of the cast. Is that something people are interested in exploring for him over other characters?
I'm not trying to come after anyone personally. There's nothing wrong with liking villains and Jacob, Faith, and Joseph have also done terrible things to innocent people.
Which is like, fine. It's a video game.
And I know that John, like Joey, is a victim of Ubisoft's choppy, inconsistent writing and storytelling. Things got changed and swapped and cut during development that got us to where we are, with the story we have. Flaws and all, not like it was ever going to be perfect.
But in my opinion, I feel like the adoration for John does a huge disservice to Joey. People make thirsty edits of him while she's literally tied up behind him. It's tasteless and makes the optics of her situation look even creepier.
Her pain has largely been ignored for as long as the game has existed. I can't for the life of me figure out why.

Telling a Native American to "understand nuance" do you know who you're fucking talking to. I'm watching Israel taking notes out of Canada/America/Mexico's playbook when committing genocide against Indigenous populations & witnessing it all over again.

Yeah, I want to know how Edgeshot and Jeanist's embroidery project is doing, very much so, but I'm equally curious about whatever Ochako has to say to Toga about love. I feel like it'll be important to the grand scheme of things.

legitimately insane how to some people, "we should wipe out this ethnic group that we've violently constrained to a ghetto because they're just genetically more violent and dangerous" is a reasonable and justifiable statement but it's Nazi Rhetoric to say something like, "it's bad that Israeli civilians are being killed but acknowledging that as tragic includes acknowledging that the almost daily state-sanctioned murder of civilians by the Israeli government is also tragic and unacceptable"
btw guys speaking of Nazi shit - can we check in, alongside what's been done to Palestinians in the last 75 years, what's the Israeli government's take on the Azerbaijani government's newest round of ethnic cleansing of Armenians? oh are the Israeli government's actions maybe not determined by Jewish identity, but by a commitment to colonial supremacy which puts them on the same page as other violently genocidal states like Azerbaijan, the US, and the UK? god can you Even Imagine?
(framing speaking against Israeli war crimes as inherently antisemitic requires understanding the Israeli state as representing all Jewish people, when it doesn't even represent all Israelis.
framing Israeli war crimes as synonymous with Jewish identity is pretty fucked up if we're being honest. I don't think that controlling water and power and movement for a captive population and shooting children dead for throwing stones is an inherent value of Judaism, any more than I think the torture carried out at Guantanamo Bay is an inherent value of Christianity - in both cases they're atrocities carried out by a far right genocidal government using religious identity as a shield.
Calling statements like "Israel is committing genocide against the people it's displaced" inherently antisemitic is doing more to further the idea that all Jewish people are associated with Israel than saying "the Israeli government is doing war crimes," which is a statement of fact about a country that exists and does war crimes. Is criticism of Israel as a nation often used as cover for antisemitism? Absolutely. Does that mean the Israeli government isn't doing literal war crimes repeatedly, on record, while talking publicly about scrubbing an ethnic group off the map? Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh well in the last 48 hours they've definitely cut off water and power to almost 600,000 civilians and allegedly used white phosphorus against civilians so in an extremely factual and unambiguous way yeah man those are Literal War Crimes whoever does them.)
#red said#sorry man saying 'it's bad to do genocide and war crimes' doesn't actually mean 'I'm happy when Jewish people die'#it means 'there is a context to Palestinian militants attacking Israelis which involves Palestinians being killed wounded or imprisoned#very nearly every day by the Israeli state and settlers. so no you can't treat a Palestinian attack on Israel as an unprecedented tragedy#without also recognising that Israeli forces have repeatedly visited attacks of similar magnitude on Palestine which is ALSO tragic#as well as the regular state-sanctioned murder of over 200 Palestinians in the 9 months BEFORE the Palestinian attack on Saturday#It means 'Palestinian lives don't matter less than Israeli lives' not 'Israeli lives don't matter'#this week is literally the FIRST TIME SINCE RECORDS BEGAN that more Israeli lives have been lost than Palestinian#bc for every year since 2000 orders of magnitude more palestinians than Israelis have been killed in this war#you don't get to say 'it's only bad when X ethnic group is killed it's GOOD to kill Y ethnic group' then accuse OTHERS of genocide apologis#it is legitimately a tragedy for Israeli civilians to be killed and wounded en masse. the people are not the nation.#but it's not less of a tragedy for Palestinians to have been killed and wounded en masse week after week for decades.#and when peaceful protest gets you shot and bombed and acting against the military gets you shot and bombed#and just existing doing nothing at all gets you shot and bombed. living near someone accused of terrorism. looking for your fucking cat.#when you're getting shot and bombed daily whatever you do. it's not surprising that sometimes people move to violence against civilians.#because as people from Gaza have said. better to die fighting for survival than die on your knees waiting.#which like. I'm not making a moral judgement one way or the other bc i am intrinsically disgusted by mass killing. as we all should be.#and this might be the movement which liberates Palestine and it might be the excuse which allows Israel to finish Palestine#and either way hundreds of people are dead on both sides and however you slice it that's a fucking tragedy#but we cannot. treat it as if Hamas' strike began the violence. and ignore the 200+ Palestinians killed by the IDF this year beforehand#Palestinian lives matter as much as Israeli lives. 700 Israeli citizens dead is a tragedy. 600 Palestinians dead is a tragedy.#and if you lay out the numbers from this weekend alone you can pretend that Israelis are getting decimated by Palestine.#but to do that you have to ignore the facts that for every 1 Israeli killed in the past decade 3 Palestinians die.#and that Israeli deaths happen in occasional outbursts of violence while Palestinian deaths happen every week#whether or not Hamas or any other Palestinian faction initiates violence

"there's no way gege is gonna make us happy with the ending of jjk 🙄" good! people don't write stories just to make you happy, they write them because they have something they want to tell and share with others, if you like it that's cool man! if you don't that's cool as well, but just because you're the audience doesn't mean that they're writing it for you

i just saw your reblog on a portwell post about gina saying “was it really over if it never had a chance to start” when her & ej were dating for two months and firstly i want to say all ur points were so true but especially the one about how there was “forever after that” in rina only double the amount of time into theirs and to add to that, there was also the thing that gina literally embroided the words “i love you too ricky” in the hat she gave to ricky two months into KNOWING HIM. like i think the rina moments are cute and such but stuff like this feels so dumb on the writers side 😭 there were honestly so many points in the later seasons where i felt like the writers forgot what they had previously written in past seasons, sometimes i felt like i was watching a whole new show purely because of this like make it make sense!! it also just feels like double standards for the ships too bc wdym portwell “never got a chance to start” when they were already two months into their relationship but then gina already felt sure about her romantic love for ricky two months into knowing him at all?? (that detail was probably something the writers came up with during the s4 writing which is a whole other conversation and ofc feelings vary person to person but still ??) that’s just my two pence but god portwell were done so dirty that was rough for us 😭
god...exactly...it's me & my two hsmtmts mutuals against the world because you're literally so right
seasons 1 & 2 of the show feel like an actual like. show. season 3 feels like someone got drunk & started posting a bullet point list of things they wanted to happen (me) but they had horrible takes (not me).
season 4 was just fanfiction. which is good & fine & stuff, but comes with inevitable retcons & some ooc-ness that was acceptable to rina fans, bit ultimately was just a wildly different show than seasons 1 & 2. also, shows should not devolve to the point of seeming like fanfiction because that should be kept separate from the source, but yk

Sure! Here's one that's actually from last year! I keep meaning to pick it up again but never getting around to it...
Probably, though, it was bad. Humans, Jon knew, were social creatures, and weren't meant to be so constantly alone. But there was just never any time for it now that Jon was so busy with the archival job. And they were- they were doing fine. They were used to the lonliness. And besides, they had Elias.
Send me a rose and I'll give you a line from one of my WIPs!

it's the way they're attending a lafd hosted poker night off the clock, together, as partners. like they do everything else together. it's the way buck willingly follows eddie through the door, any door, even if its clear he doesn't know exactly what's going on on the other side. it's the way they love each other, wholeheartedly, your honor !!

Tfem Satori means so much. Tmasc Satroi means so much to me. NB Satori means so much to me. Drag queen Satori means so much to me. Femme Satori means so much to me.
I just think Satori is the most gender fucked character ever. They are whatever identity I feel like at any given moment.

Highly recommend a spouse who writes poirot fanfiction. Not only do you get to read the extremely good fic before everyone else, but also they ask you questions about historical details that make you feel like maybe your time studying the fin-de-siècle and WWI in grad school etc weren't a waste 😂😤🥲

Something that really confuses me about TotK.
What happened to EVERYTHING
I mean there's the obvious questions like where did the shrines, divine beasts, and guardians go. The guardians were repurposed, most notably in the towers, but where did everything else go? Someone in my DnD group seems to think they just threw away the divine beasts for some reason, but I doubt that heavily.
But that's not my main greivance with what they do.
What happened to the timeline? We know this happened after Skyward Sword because Hyrule has already been founded, so we know that Demise has already cursed the hero, the goddess, and himself to be infinitely reborn. The wording is something like "Every time the land of Hylia is in danger, you will be reborn to fight it." Now, I don't know about you, but the land of Hylia seemed like it was in danger when the Demon King was rampaging across it, y'know? But where was Link?? Zelda was already there, but Link sure wasn't. Did the curse just not feel like activating?
But that's not all, because unless Zelda's time machine shenanigans unlocked this whole other timeline that goes parallel to every other Zelda game, where thousands upon thousands of years pass until Ganon reawakens, then some fuckery happens. Most notably two Zeldas at all times, and two Master swords. I do think they split the timeline again though, because no NPCs comment on the sudden appearance of the Light Dragon, but that still doesn't make sense.
If there was in fact a timeline split, it would have have to have reemerged into BotW. Why? They mention the calamity. But, Zelda was present during the whole Calamity, so what the hell was going on with the Light Dragon? BotW and TotK happen in the same timeline, but that's impossible because then two Zeldas and two Master Swords would have to have been in existence at the same exact time.
Don't get me wrong, I love the game and the mechanics, but it just irks me with how much they seemed to have overlooked.

I think you’re 100% right with your Daniel and retirement theory. He wants to race again and he’s made that clear. He #1 wouldn’t have signed on as a reserve if he didn’t want an in again and #2 wouldn’t have signed on with RB if he didn’t want eyes on what his next racing move would be (I have my own theories about that but I’ll keep those quiet for now). Obviously he’s closer to retirement than the younger drivers, but I think he’s further than the drivers his age and older (Checo, Kevin, Lewis, Val, and Nico). This road block is just making him realize the secondary, tertiary, and even quaternary items he needs to have lined up to finite making a living and I think that’s where the real fun will be (also F1 is dead to me if no one brings him back as a commentator when he officially retires because that would be a dumbass move based on how many people inside and outside of the paddock adore him)
you can't just say you have theories and not share them, are you serious 😭
