Homework for Teens and Children: Made Better!

Do you want more variability with Homework and School Performance for your Teen and Children Sims? Here ya go!

Im sorry yall .... I know I am throwing lots of stuff at you, but I had to fix this for myself and for others.

Her grade used to be a C minus! Every single day!

She had the Genius trait ...

But she almost never brought homework back because I downloaded THIS traits mod: Homework Sometimes by LilBabyDillJr. This mod is fantastic for the most part because it alters the vanilla Sims 2 code where teens and children bring home homework every single day. That to me is stale and shallow. But Dill's mod had an oversight.

In Dill's mod, Sims with the Absent Minded, Perfectionist, Unlucky, or Rebellious trait would bring home more homework (as in more frequent) and Sims with the Bookworm, Genius, Lucky, Disciplined and Workaholic traits would bring home less homework.

However, in the Bhav "Calculate Grade" in Group 0x7FBE051B (This seems to be a group for Grade School coding), the command "Set to Next" (primitive 0x001F) searches for Homework on the school-age Sim's home lot and if it can't find Homework (and Dill's mod makes Sims with certain traits bring home less) then the student's grade remains the same.

This makes no sense because Dill's mod is supposed to imply that Geniuses, Bookworms, Luckies, Disciplined and Workaholics are doing their homework in class or in study hall or on the bus ride home, so their grade should be improving.

I made a mod that fixes this. I edited the "Calculate Grade" BHAV to give a plus three bonus to a Sim's school performance that has zero homework on the lot but still are going to school, the same as the traits in Dill's mod. This is perfectly accompanied by Dill's mod which causes Geniuses, Disciplined, Bookworms, Luckies, and Workaholics to bring home less homework, because their school performance will improve even though they don't have homework that they're bringing home! If the Set to Next command finds more than one homework, the Sim's grade will still be decreased!

This mod, named Ys2g_calculategrade4traits_dill_homework, also fixes the glitch if you use aging mods or set aging to OFF. In the BHAV "Calculate Grade" if a Sim is on their first day of aging as a child or teen, their grade will stay the same. So if your child or teen Sim is on their first day of aging and your aging is off for a while, their grade will remain stuck. I fixed this. Now, if your Sim is on the first day of aging, they get a plus one, a smaller, bonus to their grade and then it goes to the Set to Next command to check for homework. I did this because I figured that Sims on their first days of aging would be doing really easy stuff in school.

I also released an optional download for an edit of Dill's original mod that makes it more subtle and changes Bookworm trait to Ambitious instead so that Ambitious Sims bring home less homework as well instead of Bookworms.

This optional file is called dill_homeworksometimes_edit_ys2g

Tex is a good movie you guys are just mean

i watched it like... two weeks ago? i think? anyway. i've now gone insane but here's all apparently 2400 words of my notes i took in google docs while watching the movie. highly highly HIGHLY recommend watching it or reading the book for anybody who cares about the outsiders because just. oh you just should read it and you'll understand.

i need you to yap about merrrick and jude's relationship

okay okay so,

firstly i'm so sorry i took so long to get to this i had to vist with like a million people and people kept dropping by the house for some reason to give me money

you are also so so welcome to set up camp in my inbox, you can even build a little house here if you want

anywayyyyyy Jude and Merrick

So Jude's a golden child and Merrick becomes a media darling partly because oh my god a fox went pro and they're not a complete disaster and also partly cause he's an attention whore and he ate it up once he went pro

So yeah they meet officially when Merr's 25 and Jude's 26. Jude makes court and they're eyeing Merr but ultimately decide to pass on him. He's a good player and he's good in front of a camera but any of his coaches past or present would tell them they don't think he's a good fit cause of the shit he's carrying and the pressure being court would put on his shoulders.

They had of course met in the past for college exy events but really had no reason to interact and didn't pay much attention to each other at the time

So yeah they meet when team USA is sort of eyeing Merr/scouting his still unnamed pro team and somehow ended up striking up a conversation (Jude saw Merr's tattoos and decided to compliment them and start rambling about/showing off his own). Jude asks for his number for completely professional reasons, obviously, and it largely starts with Jude texting him random shit at the weirdest times and Merrick either not responding or giving odd as shit answers because he doesn't know how to text. So Merr gets passed up on being court and Jude teTchnically has zero reason to keep in touch with him because they're actually not going to be teammates but now he's going a little bonkers. He's watching games, he's watching interviews, he's watching that one thirst trap edit that has a clip of Merr pouring water over himself after a game. He pulls back on the random texting a bit but still tells him good game and checks in regularly and well when they end up in the same area for an event it only makes sense to ask him to get coffee.

At the end of the night they end up in Jude's hotel room just sitting on the bed. Merr asks about Jude's scars, at the end of the day he's a fox, he's used to it but still curious, and Jude answers honestly. Merrick thanks him and offers nothing in return. And it's okay. A Fox and Trojan is an odd combination and for the moment they're content with what they have. Merr's glad to have finally made a friend after the foxes and well he doesn't know what Jude gets out of it but he's glad that it seems to be enough.

They go their separate ways, keep in touch sporadically, and keep a close eye on each other's careers. Team USA takes gold that year and Merr's team does well enough to keep him going and stop him from falling back into bad habits. They both tell each other good job, Jude's hand hovers over the call button, and Merr types a million sentences unsure of what he wants to say.

After that Jude has to sign with another pro team and he signs with Merr's. They're not the best team or the biggest but they're consist players, solid, and slowly working their way up the ranks. Jude has his pick of the litter and no one really knows why he chose that team when all his court teammates went on to one's with much better chances of winning but he seems happy with his choice so they don't push it.

Seeing Merrick on the court this way and how he interacts with his team is completely different from the Merrick he's seen in their brief moments of existing together. Merr's aggressive on the court, he hits hard, and in practices he doesn't tend to care much for the fact that he's often pissing off his own teammates. Off the court, in locker rooms and at team meetings he's not outright rude but he's not making any active effort to make friends and it's obvious his teammates aren't either and they've likely never tried. So Jude pushes. It starts with press duty together and they develop a good banter, a strong back and forth, and if the press adored them separately then they love them together.

It's furthered by Jude joining him for his workouts and for drills. They start running together in the morning. Jude never asks him what's wrong enough with him to have made him a fox. Merrick never brings up his scars again. They talk about movies and music and local places that Merrick has never visited and Jude is excited to see. Jude stops bringing up local bars and the club the team loves to frequent after the third time Merr goes oddly silent in the middle of a conversation.

Then Jude starts complaining about how his dog is across the country staying with his family cause the only apartment he could find at the time doesn't allow pets. Merr mentions his place does. Jude doesn't push. A few weeks later Merrick comes up to him in the locker room after practice and tells him if he wants his dog out here and can find a way out of his lease that Merr has a spare room.

So they become roommates. And they have to set ground rules. Merrick's rule number one is no substances in the house. Merr doesn't even keep over the counter pain killers, he'll call a team nurse if he needs them. Jude tells him he takes prescription medication for his adhd and depression. Merrick asks him to keep them in his room and expects that to be the end of it. This time Jude pushes. He figures he's given and Merr owes him nothing but he might as well ask if he can take a little in return. Merrick doesn't give him everything, doesn't give him much at all, but he admits he's struggled with addiction in the past. That he's been in rehab, he's clean, but he prefers not to take the risk of having anything around. That even if he's not tempted he doesn't like the reminders. Especially since he was living alone.

They fall into a routine and Jude asks for a little bit more over time. They have the same nights off so now they have movie nights. Stevie (Jude's dog) starts to join them on morning runs. She learns she likes Merrick's bed more and Merr learns that too when he's woken up by her nudging his arm one night waiting to be pet. He walks her back to Jude's room every night for a few weeks before he gives up. They switch off cooking and eventually start to cook together. Merrick will ask Jude questions. How has therapy worked for him? What does he do to cope? Has talking about things really helped? Jude answers and asks questions in return. Do you have someone to talk to? Do you need me to listen? Tell me something about you?

They become friends long before they're lovers. They like to exist together before they choose to be together. And something odd about them just works. I can't really articulate it well myself.

I don't know when they cross that line quite yet. I only have bits and pieces of what Jude learns about Merrick and when. But it all comes together, slowly but surely. Merr introduces Jude to Wymack instead of introducing him to his dad. Introduces him to Bee instead of his mom. Jude brings him home to California, they roadtrip so they can take Stevie with them and have a great time. Their team makes it to semifinals and they end up kissing on camera and falling down on the court holding each other, kissing each other over and over again. They hold hands in public and let the paparazzi take photos, they answer all the questions after games, and they make their own posts addressing it all. And it's truly time to wrap this shit up though there's much I could delve into I think and if there's any specific questions I will happily answer them but they end up as two very content dog dads to one very spoiled Stevie

ok first disclaimers: i know very little abt idols and even less abt modeling so!! if anything is horrifically inaccurate forgive me im stupid!! and also this will literally be stream of consciousness unedited so if it makes zero sense im very sorry

now we begin the madness

some background info: kite was scouted off the street (as he was walking off from pickpocketing someone LMAO) for his height and build, currently very sought after to model for many brands because he’s literally the same as the sketch models on paper so the designers don’t have to compromise on their clothing designs to fit the model, bc he just. looks exactly like the paper sketch. also the white hair is very distinctive!! and his prep/management team is his research team <3 he’s currently the face of several brands, including the zoldyck brand (i see the zoldycks as a very influential family in the fashion/modeling industry, kikyo was a former model until an accident, now she’s focusing on designing, all the kids are involved in the industry somehow, illumi is within the same agency (?is that how modeling works) as kite). he’s in his mid-twenties ish and hes 6'3" - 6'4" (190 - 193 cm)

wing and his idol group debuted a couple years ago (haven’t thought too much about the members, but im thinkin feitan maybe? kurapika?? shalnark?? idk guys maybe he’s a solo act) and they’ve skyrocketed to fame. uhh in terms of content they produce, thinkin something similar to wayv/bts type music (stuff that crowds just eat up LOL like love talk by wayv, luna by oneus that kind of music) and im thinking that wing’s debut look was REALLY BAD (they made the poor man blond) but when they put him back to his normal hair color he got rly popular. he’s had some bad eras where the stylists made him look a little goofy but… he’s good now (his best era was the mullet era). also he was trained by bisky who was a former idol who has retired and she's a legend in the industry… and wing is currently guiding an idol trainee (zushi lol). wing’s in his early-mid-twenties i think and he's 5'9" - 5'10" (175 - 178 cm)

ok and the main 4 fit into this uhh... i think gon is also an idol trainee along w zushi. and killua is currently modeling for a popular teen's clothing brand. i think i mentioned kurapika as being a part of wing's idol group but lowk i think maybe he's an actor instead. leorio is also. an actor. yeah ok there we go

uhhhh ok general thoughts:

i see them meeting at like.. the met gala or its equivalent and they meet when wing trips over kite’s clothes (he’s wearing something with a ridiculously long train and wing isn’t looking where he’s going), and at first wing thinks kite is super standoffish/rude bc he doesn’t apologize or offer a hand when wing trips… he just.. sorta stares at him on the floor for a second then clacks off in his very pointy shoes (he was flustered abt the very pretty stranger who just fell for over him. also he was STRESSED asf) (also the perspective that wing had probably didn't help bc bro was on the floor and kite was staring down at him from a height of like 6'9 with the heels)

afterwards there’s a bunch of pictures and edits of wing falling over all over the internet bc it was kind of funny… and ppl are telling him like “oh my god you tripped over yorknew’s top model the LITERAL FACE of fashion right now” and wing is like “damn i didn’t know also he’s a jerk”… and to kite ppl r telling him “oh my god the country’s MOST POPULAR IDOL tripped on you” and kite’s like “uhhh.. who?” (he doesn’t keep up with the entertainment industry despite being a part of it) and they both search each other up and they both have a moment like “oh my god i fucked up (also he's really hot)”

anyways they continue randomly (not at all random very much orchestrated by the people around them) meeting at things,,, there’s a very awkward apology from kite where he explains (sortof) why he didn’t help wing up… uhh stuff happens they fall in love and start dating LOL (i didnt think abt this part that hard) and for a hot minute there r paparazzi photos circulating of them together and the media is losing their collective shit

fast forward a little bit and they r like “yea we r together LOL” and then u start seeing kite at wing’s concerts in a spectator box staring very lovingly at wing on the stage and wing (and sometimes his whole idol group) starts showing up to fashion shows and wing looks like shellshocked every time kite steps onto the catwalk hes got kind of an awed stare on his face

ok future thoughts:

after abt two? ish years dating (engaged for 6 months out of those 2 yrs) they have an extremely private wedding with only close friends invited, and when ppl start noticing theyre wearing wedding bands (takes a while bc wing usually wears a lot of rings anyways, and kite wears his on a necklace and not on his hand) the media has a collective meltdown. again. (i am the media in this i think. i have meltdowns bc of them.)

um and eventually (around when him and kite get married) wing's idol group splits apart as they all go to pursue individual passions/careers, so now he's workin on his own music/vision. i think his personal music is much more peaceful and vibey than what his old group produced, more gentle love songs and poetic music and whatnot.

and kite steps out of the spotlight and is focusing on nature conservation philanthropy type stuff,, so he'll still step out and model for charity/fundraiser type stuff and he's the face of a large conservation foundation. (also bc sometimes he'll join like.. ocean cleanup initiatives or similar things and like. imagine ur volunteering to pick up garbage on the beach and u literally see like. anya taylor joy and her husband also out there picking up garbage or smthn. that's how the other ppl feel.) hes also a big advocate for no kill shelters and donates a shitload to them i like to think.

I believe in this theory way more than I did when I first heard of it. And I'm convinced that Don's Canto is definitely will be inspired with musical, however I'm still doubting if she's Miguel herself. Maybe I was too into theories about Don being Sanch, to let go idea of her "inheriting the name" so easily. And I feel like with "Alonso Quijano" dying in the story and Miguel getting to trail in the end of musical that can make sense?

In that case, it could be that the "Man Of La Mancha" storyline ended, and we are going to explore aftermath and how it affected Don

I'm not sure if there will be any Inqusitors because Don seems to have like zero connections to N Corp, and they don't seem to be an important part of the story. Maybe there will be some other organization with similar roles.

And about prisoners, I am not sure if City has trial or even imprisonment as form of punishment but ...with all connections that get traced to Eight O'clock Circus, I kinda can imagine Miguel as being caught and forced being there, telling his story to entertain members. I'm not sure if Oswald would approve it, but maybe the absurdity of Don Quixote story would be amusing for him.

Also not sure if I like idea of any sinners being a characters. Kinda don't want to rob Don of important connections and NPCs, but if it should be one of the sinners than well, Hong Lu and Don almost never spoke with each other. He's one of the most suited to help, but there is no connection between him and Don. I would more see Rodya and Mearsault in this role to be honest.

Okay, all this answer reads like I'm against this theory, but I am swear it's not, it's just how I lead my conversations, and you can answer me with rejecting my ideas and writing how something else in her story would make more sense, and I would be happy to read it and interact

It was a getting cold in NYC, because it was October and around 8pm. Y/N was walking down the street with her headphones/Ear buds on blast. Here’s the question, why was Y/N out at 8:23pm (to be exact). Well short answer she snuck out; long answer Mom & Dad we’re fighting—again! Mr & Mrs.L/n were fighting over their daughter. You see her dad said it was not ‘lady like’ for a young 14/15 year old girl to be making inventions, codes, engineering, etc.

But did that stop Y/N from making inventions; Hell no!! She was at the top of her class she was not gonna just give up now, because she had a great future ahead of her. Her Mom, April (her best friend), (F/N1), and (F/N2) all supported her.

Everything was going perfectly normal until one night, which was that(this?) very night. She heard a weird crash sound coming from the alleyway. And this crash was LOUD Y/N could hear it through her headphones/Earbuds. Out of instinct she Stoped and flinched as well. She walked towards the alley slowly turning on her phone flashlight, and what she saw next made her freeze. Y/N saw a giant mutant turtle with a purple mask, metal shell with a hovering thing.(?) The two just stared at each other for a couple of minutes until Y/N broke the silence.

Donnie was about to grab his tech-Bo he had sat up against the wall of the alley way, until She said something else. “Wait before you go do you want to hang out sometime?” He looked at her and said a plain ‘Sure’ it sounded blunt when he said that. (If that makes any sense) || So the give each others number :p

Y/N Went home and tried to go to bed, yet should couldn’t something…no someone’s keeping her awake. She could could not get him out of her head. Y/N I just drawn to him somehow. She liked the sarcasm in his voice, and the way the purple compliments his skin. She was not the type of girl to think love at first sight was real; now that she has met Donatello….she might just believe that it exists.

It's the kind of stupid fucking argument that spirals into neither of them even remembering what the hell they were fighting about in the first place. And Davey--

Well, Davey has a way with words. Jack reminds him often enough. Not only is Davey a craftsman with the English language, he's a fighter, and wields words as weapons that shoot to kill when they're fueled by his anger.

"If you're so fucking unhappy here, then why don't you just leave," Davey spits venomously.

He regrets the words the instant they leave his tongue. It's torture, actually, to watch them reach Jack's ears and see his face fall not into the anger that Davey expected, but hurt. Which is so, so much worse.

Jack's jaw and shoulders go slack, like a piece of him has just died a little, and now Davey has to live with being the one who killed it. If that wasn't enough, his eyes go big and sad and doe-eyed and god dammit, why did Davey have to go and aim right for the jugular?

In an instant, he's closed the space between them and cupped a hand behind Jack's neck. "Jack, I--"

Jack dips his head, eyes fluttering shut at the skin to skin contact. "I know," he whispers.

"I'm sorry," Davey croaks. And he is. Because nothing--not whatever the fuck they were fighting about, not winning an argument--not a single thong in this world, means more to Davey than what he has with Jack.

"Me, too," Jack says. "You ain't getting rid of me that easily."

"Ah, such is the Jack Kelly way."

"Whaddya mean by that?" Jack asks, although a laugh creeps into his voice.

"I just mean that's the way you do things. Big and bold or not at all."

"Oh." He's not wrong.

A gust of winter wind brings silence between them, and Jack never quite knows what to do with silence except break it.

"You know, you're supposed to kiss someone on New Year's Eve," Jack announces, hoping he's not being too obvious. He is. He knows it. Subtlety was never his forte. Davey's eyebrows raise, but he stays staring out into Manhattan, the chaos of the lodging house continuing behind them. "When the countdown gets to zero," Jack elaborates. " 'S'posed to be good luck or somethin'."

Finally Davey rewards Jack with his full gaze, something playful poorly hidden in his crooked smile. "And are you in need of some good luck?"

The voices of thirty or so newsboys enthusiastically counting along to the raidio cuts through the crisp air.

"Actually, no. I'm on top of the world, in case you ain't noticed."

You've seen this post about Hidamari Sketch right? It's kind of famous, at least it is to me. If you can't click through to see the link text here it is.

Remember how Hidamari Sketch aired during the DTV transition, and SHAFT knew exactly what to do with the new real estate for the widescreen version?

This was a fact that bounces around in my brain like a DVD screensaver. Hidamari Sketch aired in Japan between January and March 2007 during the DTV transition and they prepared two versions for broadcast, one that was HD 16:9 and one that was SD 4:3. I've heard of things going wrong during this transition like the shot of Mugi getting cropped out in the 4:3 broadcast version of K-On but this time period isn't super well researched in the admittedly small digging I did.

So it makes sense that a studio during this time would make these changes right? Your show is going to appear in two very different formats, you're going to want to make sure it looks fine in both. Anyway I was reading the replies of this post one morning and I read one that gave me pause.

This started me researching the analog to digital transition in Japan which I won't get into here but long story short, yes it did air during the analog to digital transition. There was an analog digital simulcast of both signals in Japan that started in about 2003 and ended in 2012 when all analog transmissions were shut down. So there was a period where broadcasters were putting out both HD 16:9 and SD 4:3 to serve people/areas who had not made the jump to the digital signal.

But it got me thinking, some people in the replies were talking about not being able to find proof that it aired in 4:3. Chances are they just didn't know where to look. Anyway I just looked on nyaa and lo and behold.

So I had the original broadcast versions of season 1 and 2 in 4:3. (i was unsure what the second torrent would be, it didn't have any information in the description and "TV broadcast" could have been the 16:9 broadcast bc there was a simulcast but it was the 4:3 version).

Anyway I was curious if there were any other changes, I kind of doubted that there were since it's already a lot of effort to produce two different versions of scenes but maybe there was something that the person that put together the original comparison missed.

If you, like me, believed the truth of that original post I'm about to tell you Santa Claus is not real. I compared these with the BD and found 2 of the frames from the original post. (the other I presume is from the first episode of season one also). And, they're,,, cropped from the 16:9 version.

In hindsight this makes perfect sense, I know sometimes they will redraw or reanimate certain scenes for the blurays because production is sometimes very fucked and they don't have the time to make things to their usual standards but if you're working for TV schedules why would you give yourself more work to do?

I'm sorry im sure this is interesting only to me but "Shaft redrew the wide character shots for HD during the DTV transition" is something that had the same veracity in my brain as, water is wet and i thought about it about as often. Two things make this very funny.

The image is cropped from what I assume is the original which makes it more obvious that it was a joke.*

the person that made that edit (presumably on 2ch or a/ on 4ch) didn't like, make the entire image 4:3 they popped the background out so it wouldn't appear squished. Which is such an insane effort post that you still see people go, oh yeah no it has to be real no one would go to the effort to do that. (read this post, people go to insane lengths for zero reward all the time)

I cooked up a very quick comparison in photopea to show what I mean. At this point it's trivial to remake the background, it's just a repeating pattern anyway.

*I would love to tell which is older but google recently changed how reverse image search works and it doesn't show you pages with the list of dates of when that page was last crawled so it's a little hard to figure out and I don't want to spend a bunch of time figuring out an alternative. So whoever cropped out the obvious joke part is one of histories greatest pranksters in the relatively small pond of people that give a shit about slice of life anime. tl/dr two people, the person that made the original image and the person that cropped off the obvious joke part have combined their efforts to fully prank me 10 years later and I don't think anyone else I've told about this has felt owned or surprised to the same extent as me so I feel like histories greatest fool here

hi! i was wondering if you had game recs for someone that has only played sims and stardew on pc! im the person and i want to start playing more stuff but i dont want to start with something too difficult i hope that makes sense 🐣 thank you and i hope you enjoy your weekend

hi nonners!! sure thing! a huge chunk of my childhood gaming was harvest moon and sims so let's see! my gaming tastes are very unified yet all over the place so don't take this as gospel and something you will For Sure enjoy! feel free to follow up if any game/genre piques your interest!

if you never did so, i would recommend giving the sims handheld games (namely, sims bustin' out, urbz, and sims 2 on the gba/ds). they're still in the universe of the sims so you take care of your lil sim/urb but they're adventure games where you're given tasks and progress through the story. the writing is silly but good, and the characters are fun, though the games may feel grindy at times. feel free to hit me up if you'd like, i can hook you up with them!

in the farming sim/resource manager sim, i can recommend you the harvest moon games, now story of seasons. story of seasons: a wonderful life just came out on the switch, and i think other platforms, and it is a remake of the iconic a wonderful life. just keep in mind that it might feel like a step down from just how much content is in stardew valley! there's also the rune factory series, my time at portia (and the upcoming my time at sandrock), ooblets, graveyard keeper, calico, and animal crossing. oh!! and kynseed. kynseed is lovely and it looks gorgeous and it is a life sim where you play as successive generations, with lots of fae elements. it can get a bit grindy but i've greatly enjoyed my time with it.

(and i just started wylde flowers since i got it on sale this week, and i've been really enjoyed it so far, but can't provide a full recommendation since i've had so little time with it)

if you enjoy the decorating part of the sims, i can recommend you the tenants. it's a game where you play as a landlord, decorate houses, find renters, and most importantly do renovation jobs for clients.

if you're in the mood for something sandbox-y, other than animal crossing i think that no man's sky could scratch that itch (you can fully customize options such as resource availability, combat difficulty, etc) and, of course the legend of zelda breath of the wild (and i can only assume tears of the kingdom, but i haven't started that one yet)

if you're wanting to dip your toes into different genres, such as rpgs, i can recommend you the elder scrolls series (especially skyrim is more streamlined and thus, more beginner friendly) and dragon age. both series have difficulty settings you can change as you feel more or less comfortable. if you're interested in party-based, turn-based rpgs, you can't go wrong with the final fantasy series, golden sun, and octopath traveler (which is a recent favorite that i wholeheartedly love, with the caveat that if someone is looking for a large, overarching story it is not the game that will provide that)

edit to add story-based games. there are many but i won't cite what maybe most people would recommend bc i either haven't played it or dislike it. i really enjoyed oxenfree, not tonight, road 96, and most importantly of all, kentucky route zero. my sibling adores the dreamfall chapters series and i really enjoy watching them play it! and my wife (a much more casual player than me but whom i love watching play and has great taste) loved playing strange horticulture, the sexy brutale, eastshade, and coffee talk (episodes 1 and 2)

please keep in mind there's some overlap between categories! and i think that most games will be approachable to beginners. nobody was born knowing how to play games and i find that most games do a good job of bringing players up to speed.

And there’s a lot to figure out with the guy. Hence why he is one my favorites, up there with the other one I’ve thought a lot about (Amane).

And since you brought her up, I might as well talk about Mahiru too. And, frankly... well, I think she's a cool character and an interesting spin on the yandere trope (I think that's what's going on), but I don't have many strong feelings towards her. See, I'm aro/ace with absolutely zero romantic/sexual attraction, so I usually have issues connecting to characters who have romantic love as such a core concept to their storyline, and Mahiru is no exception. I just don't get it, you know? I understand why she does the things she does it in a purely neutral sense, but I can't really empathize much with her because the concept of being so head over heels for someone is completely foreign to me. I still think she's great, she's just not for me.

Obviously there's a bit more to her than "girl in love", but it's still one of the most integral parts of her character. It's hard for me to find things to relate with her. And, well, she doesn't exactly make it easy for me to like her.

While I think she's interesting and I'm sure I'll appreciate her more when I really sit down and look over her MVs more deeply, at the moment... she might be my least favorite character I am so sorry. I don't dislike her, but I find her a lot less interesting than all the other sillies. I actually may have ended up voting her Guilty if I'd been in the fandom at the time. Probably I would have gone inno, but I'm not 100% sure.

Bio

Like Morty, Oliver’s got a bit of a memory problem with his childhood. He can’t remember a darn thing about himself prior to when he turned ten (and got his powers technically). He woke up in the SA hospital, and was told his name was Oliver and that he’d been in a car accident that killed his parents. He has no idea if that’s true or not, because One Eye does have a habit of kidnapping Elementals and erasing their memories to make them loyal to the Supers Association, but Oliver also has a habit of not realizing he’s walking into streets. Mind you no one but the other Elementals actually know he’s an Elemental, I explain that more here, but I wouldn’t put it past One Eye to know anything ngl. He’s pretty sure it was One Eye honestly, considering he can see into the past, and his own past... but not the first ten years. He’s not really happy about it, but there’s not much he can do, and he doesn’t particularly care, in all honesty.

Since he had no where to go and was just a kid, Oliver wound up staying with the Supers Association. He went to one of their schools for a while, though the Director in charge of the branch nearest to the school often came to him for predicting the future. He wasn’t particularly a fan of that, but he didn’t know how to say no. The more they asked him for help seeing the future, and the more he had to use his powers in school, the more unstable he got. He started forgetting what time period he was in, forgetting long gaps of time, getting confused about what had already happened, and so on. It wasn’t too bad yet, and they thought he was just forgetful.

But then he collapsed time. Oliver’s a nerd, to put it really simply, and he always has been. He loves history, which is part of why Time chose him, he loves learning, and he’s curious about everything. He was 100% that kid in class who asked so many questions the teacher got annoyed and his favorite words are “well actually...”. And in a Supers school, where cliques are huge and determined by power, he tended to get bullied. His powers weren’t fighting based and he was annoying, so they didn’t like him. When he was thirteen, there was an incident and it scared him enough his powers lashed out, and time collapsed. It was only for a few minutes, he fixed it easily enough, but it terrified the SA when they realized just how powerful he was. If he collapsed time fully, then the world would basically be destroyed because physics doesn’t like that much. So... yea.

The Supers Association, in all their shitty government organization with little to no oversight way, took Oliver to a facility for older Supers who could no longer control their powers. Overall, it was a nice place. He got taken care of, there was a big garden, it was just a retirement home, essentially. Except for the small fact that they drugged him to the point he barely knew his own name. At thirteen. Without any real consent (his legal guardian was the SA as a whole, and as a minor he didn’t have any say in it). Sparky found out about this, because of course he did, and, well, he made a fuss. Stole all Oliver’s case files and plopped them in the lap of a nonprofit legal group that worked to protect Supers rights. They made a case to get him free considering it was completely unlawful, the SA argued that he was dangerous and they were allowed to deal with dangerous Supers as needed, yadda yadda yadda, it goes to the Supreme court and is super televised, and in the end Oliver’s case wound up securing a ton of rights for minor Supers. A lot of the shit the SA had been doing, like the kidnapping Elemental kids and erasing their memories, essentially arresting powerful young Supers without calling it that (they’d put them in facilities that were similar to juvie but called a training thing, not a jail thing even though they weren’t allowed to leave), stuff like that, it was no longer allowed. At all. Young Supers did have rights before hand of course that protected them, but the loopholes were officially closed. It was a HUGE deal, especially for Morty and Ben, though neither of them actually knew Oliver at that point. But Morty was kidnapped and had his mind wiped, and was held essentially hostage by One Eye, and Ben is a powerful Super with scary powers that would definitely have been targeted by the SA earlier. So this was really big. A lot of strong Super kids got released, and soon after the case an oversight committee was created to protect minor Supers. It’s probably the only comprehensive oversight the SA has (and even then, comprehensive is a bit wishy washy) but it’s so much more than previously.

As for Oliver himself, he got released and was no longer being drugged, but the damage had been done. The drugs destabilized his powers, and his confusion increased exponentially. He started losing himself in time, when he’d see, hear, feel, and fully believe he was in some moment in the past, sometimes for hours at a time. He rarely could tell you the date, started living a few minutes behind or a few minutes ahead even when he was present, had a few instances of things from the past showing up in his place... not great. As a compromise with the SA, the court decided to assign him a full time carer, Emory, who made sure he ate, drank water, and didn’t hurt himself. Which he did. A lot. Always on accident, of course, but things happen when you were in your living room and then you’re suddenly experiencing a battlefield. Lots of running and falling because objects that are physically there are not there for him. Not a lot of fun. He also got a service dog who he named Edison, just to help keep him calm and ground him.

Things were pretty okay after that, other than dealing with the whole, getting lost in the time stream thing, until time collapsed again. Again, it wasn’t Oliver’s fault, he got panicked because he saw a Really Bad Future and thought he was trapped there since he doesn’t normally realize that the time he’s seeing isn’t the right one. It was an apocalypse, and in real time bodies suddenly appeared in the streets, buildings collapsed because another building shoved itself into it which tends to break some laws of psychics and all... yea. no one got hurt, just terrified, and he brought it back after about twenty minutes with Edison and Emory’s help. But yet again, the SA was scared, and since it could technically be considered a Villainous attack, since no one could tell if the bodies were from the present time or the past and there was property damage,and technically he was an adult then since he’d just turned eighteen, so technically they were allowed to put him back into a facility all drugged up. Which they did. Again. This time though, he did have an adult who was on his side, and Emory busted him out. Sometimes having temporary amnesia powers and being a retired spy comes in handy for her. ;) She brought him to the Lily Pad Inn for safety until she could get the SA off his ass, which is where his story picks up in the book!!

Sorry that got so long, ugh, but Oliver’s story is complicated and a load of not fun. There’s a lot of not fun in general. Tragic backstories anyone? Every Supers gotta have one! But at the very least, his pain wound up helping a lot of people, and if you ask him, that means it was worth it. Thankyouuuu! Heres another celebration drabble for you :) This ‘drabble’ ended up being a little longer then my usual ones so enjoy :)

You took a dee breath of the cool spring air as you gazed out over the balcony, taking in the surrounding scenery. Easter was a time for a fresh start, new beginnings, comfort and chocolate, lots and lots of chocolate. That last part didn’t really occur to you though, you were more of a skittles person.

A strong arm came to rest around your shoulders. Natasha. You didn’t even have to turn to know it was her. She’d just gotten back from… Well, you didn’t exactly know where she went, the only clue her quick, “I’ll be back soon” before leaving the apartment.

“Hey darling.” She purred, sliding round to face you, keeping a hand hidden behind her back.

“Whatcha hiding there Natty?” You beamed, trying to get a peak, only you had to promptly turn away from her feeling a sharp prick at the base of your nose, “Hh..-Heh'tschiew! Whew, sorry about that.” You laughed it off, twitching your nose as you tried to ignore the persisting tickle.

“These are for you.” She smiled, revealing a gorgeous arrangement of pink, red and yellow flowers. You weren’t sure exactly which actually types they were but they were beautiful.

“Wow…” You said, voice full of gratitude, “These are amazing!” You brought them close to your face and took a deep breath, you senses were overwhelmed by the acute smell of spring. They smelt beautiful but… Why did they make your nose so-

“Hh’tshoo! ...H’htsSHIEW! HihH’eESHIEW!” Your body gave you zero warning, you found yourself doubling at the force of each sneeze, by some miracle, you were able to cover with your elbow.

You sniffled thickly, feeling your nose begin to slowly run. What on earth had caused this? You looked up to see Nat, a look of shock and worry plastered across her face.

“Bless you Y/N” Natasha enthused the ‘bless’ portion of the phrase, “What set that off darling?”

You were about to answer when the itch in your nose returned, it felt like something had lit a fire within there. Your eyelashes fluttered rapidly and you held up a weak finger, a sign for her that your nose hadn’t quite finished tending to its business.

Your nose launched into of sneezes as you buried it into the crook of your elbow, desperate to muffle the sound of your ongoing fit. The corners of your eyes had began to water and a small tear slowly fell down your cheek.

Natasha’s soft hand slowly came to brush that tear away. After a minute or so, your sneezing decreased before fully coming to a stop, for now. You sniffled trying to control your still-twitching nose.

“Jesus…” You mumbled, regaining your composure.

“Oh darling, bless you princess.” Nat cooed, a small hint of worry still remaining, “Your nose really didn’t agree with something. Could it be these?” She gestured to the flowers which had been placed on the balcony edge.

Now it made sense, “Are those flowers in bloom?” You asked, already knowing the answer. Nat nodded silently and you sighed, out of self-frustration. Awhile back you’d had a similar reaction, to which flowers were the source. Though it seemed like it was a one-off occasion, but from the way your nose was currently reacting it seemed that wasn’t the case.

“Im so sorry Y/N. I didn’t know you were allergic otherwise I wouldn’t-“ Nat started to stumble an apology, it was obvious that your sudden outburst had worried her and now that she realised it was her gift that caused it, a feeling of guilt began to wash over her. Luckily you interrupted before she was able to continue grovelling.

“Hey, its okay. Its really fine. I didn’t know either, its only just fully clicked.” You pulled her in for a hug only stopping to wipe a small tear which had begun rolling down her cheek.

“Are you sure?”

“Positive.” You smiled, gently edging her inside. “Lets just go back inside, Im gonna shower and afterwards we can share some candy and watch a movie, lets just enjoy the rest of our Easter.”
