I'm limiting this to fics/analysis/headcanon/etc posts I made during the year and skipping over anything that isn't my actual creative work. That said, if you're curious, my actual top post was this funky screenshot from episode 2.

10. Everyone's just fine with Donnie modding the moon buggy? (362 notes)

It occurred to me that despite being MASSIVE nerds for the Jupiter Jim franchise, the bros seemed awfully chill with Donnie taking an actual on-set moon buggy and modding the hell out of it.

A few people argued with me in the notes that the Turtle Tank is so cool no one could possibly be mad about it and I do think that's fair. The Turtle Tank is easily my favorite thing Donnie made in the show.

9. Splinter and Leo talk post movie (443 notes)

I saw an idea for Tfa sparklings that I thought had potential

What if the tfa autobots (due to ignorance about sparklings and reproduction) had a certain fear of sparklings due to the "organic" way they are made

(literally the most relaxed about this are the prime team and (after returning to starscream) the twins)

I don't know what kinda story we could make about this but I love the concept. Just imagine! It's that time of year where I decide how we're decorating our Christmas cake this year. We have a long standing tradition of making our cake as un-Christmassy as possible.

In the past, we've done Rorschach's death scene in Watchmen, we've done the woodchipper scene from Fargo, we've done Jack Torrance frozen in the snow, and various others. Here's a couple of example pics.

But this year I've been stumped for ideas.

Then yesterday, my young son came home from school with a card showing his Christmas card design we can order.

I have been reliably informed it's Rudolph, but my first thought when I saw it was something else entirely

so, tonight got me thinking, then talking to a friend, and i realized that fic for me has totally been better than therapy in so many ways in dealing with my past trauma from abuse, not to say therapy hasn't helped some, but idk, fic is weird but in a good way, because when you write a character getting emotionally comforted, I think you're also doing a few things you might not realize, or at least i didn't until thinking about it tonight

for instance, the character doing the comforting, the acts of comfort and dialogue, them saying things like "it's not your fault" that isn't coming from some other person outside your head, obviously, but i think it's easy to forget that is coming from somewhere inside you

which means, you are tapping into that part of yourself that knows those things to be true, and so the more that you write those moments--one character comforting the other through their trauma and recovery--the more you allow that quiet part inside you to have a voice, to grow louder and be heard, not just by the character, but by the part of you that doesn't quite believe it yet

so every time you hash things out in stories, having a character say what the other needs to hear, helping them to believe that it's true, then the more you take that on as truth, too, and you start to believe these comforting characters and the things they say, the things coming from inside yourself, and you start to heal too
