So I’ve been making this
So basically last night, I was listening to some music, specifically Not Gonna Die by Skillet, more specifically a version on YouTube with the intro (because I’m not the biggest fan of Good to be Alive where the intro actually is). Anyways, when it’s night, my imagination tends to be more active and I tend to have more energy. While listening to the song, I eventually got this mental image in my mind of this scene with Dark Choco, and the more it crystallized the more I wanted to draw it. I was going to go to sleep and maybe do it in the morning, but I realized that I probably would forget the vibe and not have as much energy, so instead I decided to power through and draw the idea
It was a bit difficult since I had limited references for the pose I wanted, and I suppose I can admit the sword looks a bit off anatomically, but it looks good enough I think, and lets me keep the eyes revealed
I did eventually have to stop drawing, because my iPad had been worked all the way down to 4% (and it was at 30% when I started, the poor thing), not to mention it was around 11:30 already which is pretty late for me, and my earbuds had been running nonstop for over 2 hours (yes I was listening to the same song, it’s how I keep the vibe). I was at least able to get the pose, base colors and lineart done, and I’m still pretty proud of where I left things last night
Today was mostly just doing the background and lighting, which admittedly I may have fumbled. I’m not very good at backgrounds and I didn’t know how to draw lightning. I tried my best, but honestly I don’t think I got the image in my head. Didn’t help that my brain was playing the wrong Skillet song this morning
Oh yeah and by the way, the background is supposed to be from this. That’s what I used as reference
The lightning both feels like too much and too little. Like, it’s crowding the picture, and I can’t have more because it’d be way too crowded with it, but also at the same time, it doesn’t feel like enough, like there isn’t as much power as I wanted
Actually wait, maybe I can add some small particle effects to like, enhance the lightning feel. That was in the original sketch but I omitted it in the final. If you see one with that, you know I did that
Edit: I did indeed do that
To be fair though, I don’t think I have the art skill to properly convey the image in my head. Basically the scene is that Dark Choco is using absolutely every amount of his power for this final swing down, so much that it’s too powerful and the Strawberry Jam Sword completely shatters. But also it’s too powerful that Dark Choco’s body simply can’t handle it, and he basically ends up exploding. The scene depicted would be the wind up to that final swing that destroys the both of them
This isn’t necessarily the first time I’ve come up with this scenario, and the setup would basically be that he turned on the Cookies of Darkness slightly earlier, because he didn’t want to destroy his homeland again, and he tried to get rid of them while in the kingdom but not yet at the Citadel, but he ended up failing, so with nothing to lose, he chases after them and decides to put everything into destroying them, even if it likely ends in his death. After this he probably killed Pomegranate and crippled Licorice in some way (I don’t think he’d attack Poison Mushroom), so his final act did have some effect, but he’s still dead by the end of it. And he and his father never got the chance to properly reconcile because Dark Choco thought that could never be a possibility anymore and he had resigned himself to his fate
But yeah, I just don’t know how to convey that sheer overwhelming power and emotion that this scenario suggests. I tried my best though
I also want to submit this to the Dark Cacao Forever contest, but I’m not sure if it’s good enough for it. What do you think?
#cookie run#cookie run kingdom#dark choco cookie#my art#I really did try hard and this and it does look better than most of my others#but I don’t know if it’s really that good or anything

AF MidWeek Round-up!
This is just a simple post compiling all of my attacks so far along with some artists notes! Mostly because I found myself much more active this year than last year (Minus these few couple days due to some appointments). I'll be tagging everyone and linking to other socials so you can see these lovely folks. Of course if you want to attack me, I'm ready to fight! Without further ado, here's all the attacks so far :>
@cosmicdenro @stellarknightz - Weekend Date The name of the game for these first few attacks was to get everyone who I was supposed to last year but ran out of time ^^;;. I decided upon Jesse's Zircon over Jesse the character (one in my bookmarks) b/c it seemed like Turquoise Zircon was less drawn this year but was his icon on AF. So easy pick from me :> (Btw doing Sodalite's stripes and copying Zircon's shape language was really fun!!)
@/clawothy (Twitter) - Chill Cat Another attack from last years bookmarks! It was definitely a soft but enjoyable opening into drawing furries since Claw's so human shaped. It was fun drawing his tail and patterns :>. This is just a nice character design all around.
@twidaisi - Speedy Service Twi was also one from my bookmarks, but also a doorway down an ArtFight rabbit hole. Which will become apparent in the next two pieces. For this one, I had a pretty clear pose in mind so I placed it onto O.R.B.I and went from there!! His design is so neat and he seems so cool! The pose was also pretty fun to do as well, just an overall fun art piece (Also this one got a revenge!!! I still really really love thank you so much!!!!!)
@scratchgeist - Escapism Ho! This was a doozy! Twi had Scratch's profile linked so I ended up hitting him with an attack too. Drawing Scratch's mane turned out to be a pleasant experience despite me originally fearing it. This scene idea also came from a prompt of Scratch going outside. I ended up putting Polish on this because all those scratchy "ink like" lines I actually did manually (take a fuzzy brush and then go over it using a sketchbook eraser). It was nice dipping my toes into BatIM again and trying out more animal feature.
@/stylin.art Instagram @/crypticc0rpse Instagram - Pirates in arms One of those two people were linked on Scratch's profile and the person linked also linked to the other person. But I realized that both Stylin and Crypt had some shared characters. So this ended my little rabbit hole of people by attacking these two lovely fellows at the same time. This little crossing swords idea took me a nice minute to come up with but I liked how it ended up anyway. I really did like drawing James together like this (probably helps that I really like pirates in general). Also yes I know her hand is fucked up I noticed way to late to fix it.
@smoresthehalloweenqueen - Listen to the waves Once I finished up with that I moved onto the next bookmark, which was Smores! Originally I was gonna draw Brutus but then I was like "I like his sona it looks like fun!" So I drew them listening to music because why not :>. I struggled on the arms initially but it came out real clean and nice. Honestly might be my best work so far! (Fun fact, I color picked the waves + background from Seafoam's icon.)
@skittisketch - I got it! Mr. Sascachawean himself! I referenced this pose form the classic Objection point because I thought it would fit his personality. This was also a little bit of a test with a style I had only done in sketches (Basically my human style but omitting a neck which somehow shaves off a lot of time). This was a super fun pose to do with a pretty nice background! (Once again, fucked up hand I know I noticed too late again)
@justpainterrobot - Rare Nightly Sight I had this really really clear picture of what I thought up for this attack and I'm happy that I was able to make it a reality. I put the polish tag on this one because I almost got super super detailed of what the junk was below her (Stuff coming down from Elysium n all that) but due to a lack of references I just went with typical metal and wood. Fun fact, the night sky in the background is based on the one from Deponia itself (The first game's scenes with the professor at night). I think this rewrite of Toni was really cool from what I could find about her. Overall a labor of love type of attack.
@coelpts @swan-swanno - Boss Battle I thought to myself "Hm, I see Coelpts around a lot, lets hit him with an attack." and it turns out Ciel's gay married to Swanno's charater Mikhail, who was the last one in my bookmarks from last year. So another double attack for this one! It was a struggle starting this one mostly because I was debating whether or not to draw Ciel's Lord outfit but I ended up doing so because why not :>. It was a fun experience copying Swanno's more angular style, which is a stark departure from my more rounded shapes (As you can see here). Has a nice venture doing the lighting as well, overall a good experience.
@tailsylennon - Sweet Treats Mitchell showed off Tasily's proflie one day and I saw their sona and was I was like "Lemme draw it!" and did! I ended up following another prompt by her because it was their birthday! (By the time I started on this it was 8 pm and I freaked tf out and got to work). Her sona was really cool and I really loved drawing them. Fun fact, each of the set pieces references the Hallows Souls trio. The chair is decorated after Terra, Markus is the table, and Whistle pallet is used for the tea set :>. It was just a pleasant and cozy attack to make overall.
@ceaseless-enemy - Congratulations!!!! I've actually known about Voila for quite awhile now and thought his design n theaming is quite neat! I actually based the pose off of Ai from Oshi No Ko (I think one of her key arts before the anime released, ifykyk). But I skillfully cut out the legs because I can't draw digitigrade legs... Hooray... Otherwise it was quite nice to work on this attack in particular, especially the eyes and the hair :>.
@killbent - Getting Ready This is another one I had a real clear idea of prior to doing this, specifically because Killbent gave a prompt to give Mr Fairchime pink hair, so i thought a "pre-show" set up would look nice :>. The lighting was another new venture for me, because I usually do cool/night time like lighting but I think it turned out nicely for Fairchime. It was also fun doing the accessories and stuff on the vanity as well. Fun Fact, it's a bit hard to see through the watermark + lighting but the face paint and pallet both have the colors of his make up! Overall a pleasant and warm attack for this year.
And that's all of them so far! I picked up some new bookmarks + I gotta get Twi back for drawing Compact!! So those will probably be compiled by the end of AF so about, early August-ish if I keep up the pace. Anyway, thank you so much for reading and gracing me with the opportunity to draw all of these amazing characters!
Until next time!

Snippet from "Raise Them Well" Alt. PoV
Having trouble writing this one, so I hoped posting this would help inspire more.
Link to the original story here.
. . .
Tyelkormo was not much of one for drawing, but when he could be coaxed into artistic endeavors, he had a gift for capturing animals mid-motion. Anything stationary had a tendency to be rendered in a few careless strokes, too uninteresting to bother with details.
His latest efforts were stacked on hanno’s desk, intermingled with scraps of Makalaure’s latest songs. Nolofinwe had been straightening them compulsively for the last five minutes; it was easier than looking at Maitimo and seeing his own reflection in his brother-cousin’s eyes.
“Do you remember that picture of my mother I drew for Uncle Ingwion? I wanted to draw yours too, so I asked hanno for her hair color.”
He’d had rather confused ideas on how exactly motherhood worked at the time. It was only then that he’d fully comprehended that death was an aberration, not a prerequisite.
“I remember.” Maitimo’s voice was cautious from its place by the doorway he was still so carefully not-guarding.
They were not, technically, supposed to be in here alone. But no one would care too badly, and it was a day for doing not-quite things.
He would rather be in a courtyard, working through the patterns of his sword, but the halls were so crowded with people rushing, gossiping, preparing, and this had been the first room Maitimo could drag him to that they could trust to be empty of people who would wonder at the shaking of Nolofinwe’s hands.
“I remember Amil talked to us both after,” Maitimo added when Nolofinwe didn’t continue. “So we’d know what had really happened and wouldn’t have to hear it from rumors.”
There was an unspoken question in the way he said rumors: What have you heard? Is this what’s bothering you?
They had always heard rumors. That the old king had been cursed; that it was all Nolofinwe’s fault, all hanno’s fault, all the Valar’s fault, all -
Always rumors.
“And then hanno came and got you for a lesson,” Nolofinwe said, “and she asked me if I had any questions.” He had not shared this part before. “I asked if it was true that not all of the dead could come back.”
They both knew the answer to that question, though Maitimo had not been there when Nolofinwe had first learned it, and Nolo had never spoken of it since.
“When she said it was, I said that I thought Atar should be the one to stay. That it seemed most fair.”
The word Atar felt awkward on his tongue. He pushed through it, forcing the syllables through; it didn’t matter if he could say it right, as long as he could say it with confidence; they both knew that lesson well enough.
He would have to get used to the word. Best to practice now.
Especially when it would make it easier not to think of the rest of what he had confessed.
“It didn’t seem right for me to get my mother back, and hanno not to get his,” he said with a lightness he did not feel at all. “I thought we could both have a mother and be missing a father and that would be fair.” Not perfect, but fair, with a childish logic entirely centered on the feelings of those he knew and not on the desires of the people whose names he had most often heard in whispers.
It had suited him, selfishly, because he had not had a mother. He’d had ressë - holding him, singing to him, helping mold clay into little pots until he tired of the art - but she could not cradle his fea as his mother would have.
As his brother had.
As a child he’d been able to picture how his mother could be added into their circle, nothing lost. But a father -
If the king - his father returned, things would change.
He had known, even then, it was a dangerous thing to say.
"And so perhaps it shall be,” Nerdanel had said. “But it hurts people to speak of it too much, and there is no use worrying over it yet; it shall yet be many long years until anything is decided.”
“I thought it would take longer,” he said, at last setting down the much abused papers with far too much force. He knew it must sound abrupt to Maitimo; he didn’t care. “So many others take longer.”
He looked at Maitimo, finally, and saw just what he should have expected; Maitimo leaning against the bar set across the door, unfairly tall and uncommonly worried, and trying with his slumped posture against the wood to deny both.
Still listening. Always listening until he knew just what word to use to strike.
“I thought I would have a chance to - “ He made a confused, too violent gesture, but Maitimo would know what he meant. He always knew what he meant.
He had grown up knowing he had killed his mother, but that it had not been his fault. Nerdanel had made sure he knew it was not his fault. How could you blame a baby for anything?
But it was his fault, even though he had not killed her. It was his fault because he would be dangerous to Melkor, and Melkor knew it.
He had thought he would have a chance to prove that danger. That Melkor had been right to fear him.
He had thought that when she emerged, he could stand before her and say, I avenged you, Amil. I was worth it.
“I know,” Maitimo said because he could keep no secrets from Maitimo, not really. “Maybe this way’s better. If she’s anything like the rest of us, she won’t just want to have heard you’ve done it; she’ll want to help.”
The words had just a hint of warning to them.
You promised, Nolo. Don’t you dare go running off alone. We do it together, or not at all.
It was how they did everything, of course. The only way. So he let out the rest of his tension with a long breath and bumped Maitimo’s shoulder in apology on his way to the barred door.
“Ready?” Maitimo murmured.
By the time they slipped back to the rush of the corridor, both their faces were bright and pleased with the news of the royal couple’s return once more.

So back when sword and shield came out, I was having a lot of fun making little 4komas and stuff for FGO. I had been playing it for a long time and decided to start playing around with character aspects I liked and dialogues and stuff and as I began playing through Sword and Shield…I wanted to do the same thing…but with a side character in the past. So because I don’t know that I’ll ever get to really write or draw it out I’d like to share it here for fun. I’ll share some of the little sketches for it I did next time! We’ll start with some of my original thoughts going into the story, then the main story of Galar’s fastest Corviknight, but since this is part 1 it acts more as introduction to all the characters and the story happening overall. Enjoy!
The first things I wanna talk about is what my ideas were going into this story. I really love the designs of Sword and Shield’s region and gym leaders and felt like they and the region had a longer history. What I decided I wanted to try though was brought on by the interst I had in, not the gym leader’s pasts or the region’s but in the Taxi Driver and his Corvinknight. They get several cameos in Twilight Wings which I really loved. My idea was that these friends likely had their own heavy developments to get to where they were. How is Corviknight known as the fastest? That waas something I was especially interested to explore. With the Pokemon x Miku collab, the little short web-series like pokemon concierge, it made me interested in sharing this story in even a little way. So this is sort of an outline and summary of the story I wanted to do. It includes how the Pilot and Corvinknight became a duo, how Corviknight became known across Galar as the fastest, as well as some of the gym leader’s historys and family (like parents, grandparents or them when younger, etc.). This means some of the ages are wrong because I can’t find them for some of the characters, but I tried to keep the logic in them as best I could and pretty much all of the characters don't have names unless they're directly named in SWSH. I’ve made some changes since the inital time I wrote the outline so you have the freshest most up to date version! Some things don't make sense, some things are still written wrong or oddly, but it was just gonna be a single one shot story (a comic one-shot) so it's got a few visual story notes that you wouldn't get from a fanfic that were written to help visualize things later. Hopefully though this gives the best overall feel of what things are supposed to overall be story wise.
───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ─────
Pilot tells the Sword and Shield MC and crew about how he and Corviknight won the first annual race around Galar back in the day and encountered the legendary pokemon in the big area. From this Pilot goes on his day reminiscing about how he and Corviknight came to be as close as they did, almost 26 years ago.
Pilot worked at the old taxi service, at the time they originally only used land vehicles and pokemon rentals but wanted to test a new service using flying types, they’d been trying with one Corviknight for a long time and did fairly well. Pilot’s father and grandfather had worked and owned the taxi service with another guy, Boss, but it was recently bought out by a large corporation who are also pushing to help get air pokemon travel. To do so they’ve donated several Corviknights, recently evolved from Corvisquire. Pilot’s father is out sick so he, Pilot, is working with another guy from the service to get the Corviknights trained. The older Corviknight becomes temperamental and injures one of the drivers. Pilot is cautious but doesn’t neglect to treat the Corviknight just as well as the others. One day when giving all the Corviknights cold baths out in the sun, a guy Pilot has a crush on comes over to the Taxi service because he works for the community paper. He wants to write a story about the new initiative to help boost service use after the transition of ownership, knowing Pilot is somewhat upset by it and worried that the place his family has created won’t be something he can save if it fails. Pilot appreciates it and after a small pause he shows Guy around with what they’re doing that day and talks about what they have been doing in general to train the Corviknights. The older Corviknight, having watched the exchange, quietly fades into the space lingering around the hose. At somepoint just after Guy leaves, Pilot flushes and quickly but quietly Corviknight splashes him with the hose. The two then have a water hose fight. It’s a fun light moment.
In the days following Corviknight bonds, in an almost begrudging manner, with Pilot and Guy on the couple times they visit. One day Guy comes in mentioning that they received news there is some big event coming up, and that it’s a cross region race. It’s something being hosted by the Dragon gym leader and his Fiance from Alola. Guy says it may be good way to show both how well the Corviknights are doing and to test out their flight capabilities. Pilot likes the idea but they haven’t actually gotten to mounting the Corviknights yet. Guy suggests that he try to do so with the one older Corviknight but Pilot says no, that he doesn’t want to try too early, especially when he isn’t sure that Corviknight actually likes him. The Corviknight overhears this and seems to contemplate the wording by itself. Over the next couple days again the Corviknight seems especially quiet, not wild or aggressive, but not interested in doing anything. As the training is going well, plans begin to be set up for the taxi service to move buildings at the request of the larger corporation.
As the last of the Drivers return, one of which the older Corviknight gets upset and snaps at, Pilot locks up the backyard first. As he returns to the main shop, a couple enters asking about getting a ride although it's close to closing time. He says he can't because there aren't any drivers. The male of the couple playfully asks about a specific driver being around, who is Pilot's Father. Pilot says no that he was out sick and the man is surprised, immediately going into questions about it and then pausing. He asks if Pilot is related and Pilot says yes. The man becomes extra friendly introducing himself and his fiancé by name but not what they do. He then asks about seeing his father's Corviknight as he used to get rides from the pair often in the past. Pilot thinks about it for a second and then says sure but he has to lock the front and close so no one else comes in while they're in the back. They go and see the Corviknight and just as Pilot says to be careful that the Corviknight can be aggressive, the man pets it like it's nothing. They talk about how Pilot's father would always say this was the Fastest Corviknight in all Galar and about how excited he would get about talking about it. The woman remarks that she loves flying types or any bug flying pokemon. She's from Alola where the relationships with pokemon for transportation is pretty open ended. Pilot makes a small connection there in his mind to the recent things he heard about the Dragon Gym leader's fiance.
She immediately asks if he is the fastest then the Corviknight is must be entering the race coming up. He says probably not since the Corviknight is technically a working Pokemon and might be needed for Taxi that day, even though the Corviknights haven’t actually started work yet. Pilot asks if they're gonna enter the race and they both glance at each other and then back to him. He asks what's wrong. They mention they’re hosting the race and he connects the dots, and the reader would likely have that these are Raihan’s parents. The man laughs and pats Pilot on the back, saying not to sweat it but that he should ask if Boss would let Pilot race with Corviknight. Pilot says he isn't even sure he'll have time to race or that he'll be busy, very obviously trying to create reasons he can't go. The man interrupts saying that he's not demanding he has to enter or even really asking him to, but if it's something that Pilot or Corviknight want to do he'll have a spot open for them. The couple leaves, wrapping up the conversation and Pilot finishes locking up. As he is walking away from the Taxi building, a shadow (only to readers) is oddly watching the building.
Meanwhile earlier in the day, Honey notices a boat passing the Isles and mentions it to Mustard who decides to contact the docks about any boats they had out in the area. Characters that we as the reader would probably recognize as Nessa’s parents answer the call and mention that they’ve had an increase in water pokemon in the area but no strange boats. Mustard mentions he saw a few extra schools of water pokemon than normal as well. With no boats recorded out by the isle, they consider that the boat may be herding the pokemon for something. Nessa’s parents say they’ll report it to the police. After the call, Nessa’s mom decided she wants to check out if the other side of Galar has had any changes in water pokemon sightings, to see if it's perhaps an overall increase or just on one side. She takes the train out over to Ballonlea and requests help at the Fairy Gym. There she finds out that some fairy types have been disappearing and many of the weaker remaining have gathered closer into town. And after exploring the beach on outside the forest, notices a large lack of water pokemon.
The next day, Pilot goes out to the boss and asks what he thinks of the race the Dragon Gym is holding. Boss says it sounds interesting and he's gonna check it out, saying he might find some more ways to make quick rides with other pokemon. Boss asks if Pilot wants that day off to see the race. Pilot says not if it's gonna be a busy day, he wants to be sure they have enough help. Boss laughs and retorts with an "alright", but that it'll only be a half day in that case. Boss wants Pilot to be able to do things other than just work as he's still young enough to go out and have a good time. Pilot thanks him and then considers asking about racing with the Corviknight but doesn’t.
Pilot approaches Corviknight later, speaking to it about the race and flying, what it means to be doing the work they are. He feels that the Corviknight wants to fly but Pilot is well aware that this may be the last thing it wants to be doing too, but hopes that if they can show the taxi service works, Corviknight can leave if it’d like and be really free. The Corviknight seems to get upset at this, as it had begun to feel happy again at the Taxi service and Pilot saying this makes it feel… betrayed in a way. The Corviknight knocks Pilot down and flys out of the service hanger. It doesn’t come back the full day as Pilot waits and Boss tries to convince Pilot to go home. He says no and tries to clean up things although all the work for the day is done. Just they get ready to lock up and Pilot going into the hanger, someone enters the taxi service room. They knock out Boss and direct someone else to enter and being grabbing things. Hearing the items getting thrown around in the other room, Pilot comes back only to be pushed back by the robbers, and turned away from them so he can't see their faces. The robbers take the Corviknight pokeballs as well as the rental pokemon’s pokeballs. They say they’ll be taking the pokemon off their hands and knockout Pilot, proceeding to use the pokeballs to take the pokemon from the hangers and beds. In the shuffle of taking Pokemon, Corviknight returns and tries fighting off the robbers only to be taken too.
About two hours later Pilot wakes and sees all the pokemon gone. He rushes to check on Boss who is still knocked out and so he calls the pokemon center, police and Guy. The police have a special detective with them who is investigating pokemon thefts across regions, believing Galar’s unique types will make them the next target. He believes the Taxi service was targeted to take away fast traveling pokemon and impede the possible mobility of general citizens being raised against the thieves. The Driver is nursed and taken home and Pilot is told the scene needs to stay as is till it can be fully inspected. Guy, having gotten the call from Pilot, arrives and after being filled in, walks Pilot home.
Meanwhile the thieves have taken up hiding in the Weald. They go over plans and, to the reader, confirm that they stole the taxi pokemon in order to impede people from getting around. Their plan is to use a part of the upcoming racing event in order to take other pokemon before trying for the remaining legendary pokemon at the southern end of galar. The leader among them, a young woman, thinks on her own goals and her hopes to be accepted back into Team Rocket. She decides to try bringing out one of the pokemon the next morning, to see if it will listen to her orders. Unfortunately she isn’t sure which pokemon will be in the ball she chooses and sends out Pilot’s Corviknight. The Corviknight reacts fast and flies off before She realizes which Corviknight it is. As this happens, they also being to hear an ominous howl they hadn't before. They decide as Corviknight flies off that it’s not worth the chase and it’s easier to relocate, assuming that howl they hear is the pokemon of a Galar citizen.
Over the night of the theft, Guy and Pilot remain at home where Pilot lets his dad know what happened. They talk through it and Pilot feels crushed that what seemed to be great progress ended up like this. His dad reassures him thats everything is of no fault on him. Theres still the chance Corviknight will be back, not knowing it had been taken in the same moment. Guy stays to help Pilot get some rest in and then walk him back to the taxi service in the morning. Pilot takes the chance to mention that he is happy Guy supports him and would like to be able to hang out more, making more memories with Corviknight and such. Guy agrees, thinking this was going to be a confession but appreciates the smaller moment instead.
The next morning the two head over to Taxi service after calling to see if they were allowed back in. The police apparently locked up and were done investigating. They mention that they’d be happy to keep Pilot in the loop as much as they can to help find the missing Pokemon. Pilot and Guy head over to the Taxi service. They quietly spend the day cleaning up and informing customers they’d be closed until the pokemon are found. As they wrap up some cleaning for lunch, Pilot hears a sound from the back. He rushes back and opens the hanger doors to see Corviknight landing down. He jumps up happily and hugs Corviknight. Corviknight lightly lays his head to Pilots shoulder accepting it. Pilot begins trying to explain what happened but Corviknight interrupts grabbing a saddle, trying to ask Pilot to get on with urgency. Pilot understands and gets on, telling Guy he’ll be back.
Corviknight flies Pilot near the Gloomwood forest, unable to properly enter. Here they run into a young girl and asks her if she had seen any strange in the area. She remarks just that the Corviknight had shot out of the forest earlier. The Corviknight interjects trying to signal to the forest. The girl mentions she know a shortcut in if they needed to get in there somewhere. Pilot agrees and the three, the girl, pilot and Corviknight, walk into the gloom. The girl leads them through a rough path with downed trees and they arrive at what was a cleared out spot for a camp. Pilot recognizes one of the leftover pokeball containers as being from the Taxi shop. The girl says that she didn’t know there were people staying in there and wonders how they were getting in and out if they weren’t from there. Pilot asks how the girl learned to get around as they head back out. She talks about how she grew up wandering around the forest with her buddew and wooloos. They’d somehow always know the way out. The girl lets Pilot call from her house to inform the police of the items he found. With this news begins to spread in Galar that the taxi service had their pokemon stolen.
The Rocket Leader decides she wants to scout before the event, which is a week away. The detective approaches Pilot with a request to help find the missing pokemon.

AND Thats part 1. Theres a few things about the climax and end I want to touch up and include drawings for. There are also some drawings I want to post separate to this post, but also want to rework since I feel like I have nailed the timing a bit better than when I originally wrote this idea out. I want to make the chracters look more like how I imagined they would have 26 years before SWSH, especially given it's the characters parents or their younger selves. So please look forward to it, I don't know when I 'll post the next part or the drawings just yet but this is the basis to start us off! Thanks for reading and I'll see you next time.

Session 6: Innocence
With the city walls getting closer, I made sure my sword and shield were in their bracer form to continue the image that we were not armed when with the mayor, and then we quietly tried to move through the streets without attracting too much attention. Our plan was to essentially turn ourselves in, but that did not mean we wanted to hand over the power to the guards so immediately. I had a feeling we would be less likely to be heard out if we first interacted with patrol officers, rather than someone with hopefully more influence.
Instead of going back to City Hall--Verca made a fair point that immediately returning to the crime scene probably would not look good, even if we were actively searching out someone involved in the investigation--, we looked for some other establishment of similar function. In retrospect, we had not outlined this segment of the plan as much as we probably should have during the walk to Legen. Luckily, Talo located the guard's station rather quickly.
Less lucky was Verca's choice to unceremoniously kick through the front doors, making our arrival appear aggressive and potentially threatening to the guards inside, who all had their focus on us. I had planned a speech explaining how it did not make sense for us to be the perpetrators from a logistical standpoint, but everything came across much more frantic than I had intended as a result of our sudden bursting into the building. My rambling was eventually cut off when they dragged us into a shared cell.
The waiting was made worse by the relatively cramped quarters, but it was easier to not think about that once the guard we kept running across came to speak with us--I believe his name was John. We later learned that the mayor was his uncle, which made this entire situation so much worse. He lost family because of our blind trust.
Although he seemed incredibly incredulous upon hearing our claims of innocence, he sent for a priest anyways. As soon as he arrived, he began to berate John--which continued for almost the entirety of our time there. The priest agreed with my comments about the logistics related to the mayor's assassination, and without much delay cast the spell. From there, the easy questions were asked and answered, corroborating everything that we had been trying to tell them.
During all of this, I leaned closer to Verca. There was a question I wanted to ask, but it felt so invasive to force answers out of a person if they potentially wanted to keep certain pieces of information close to their chest. At least, in this situation it did; I suppose I could see the function of drawing out the truth in other theoretical occasions. I spent long enough fumbling over my words, trying to find the best phrasing possible, that Verca told me to just ask. He apparently had his own questions that he wanted to ask me anyways, so it was a trade.
I nodded and asked if I had been right about the voice that Talo had heard earlier originating from him rather than them. He confirmed. Four days ago, when we all met, Talo and I had stopped hearing from our individual wisps after completing our tests--in turn granting them each rest. However, the voice of Verca's wisp never left. He commented that it was not usually as rude to him as it was to Talo. I think he meant for that to be reassuring, but I still have not decided if we should be worried about its decision to stay around.
Given the opportunity to ask his question, Verca asked about the Mask. As I had said any other time, I restated that I had no idea about anything related to it. I am curious why he thought that was a question he could not otherwise ask or why he thought it to be similarly rude to the question I had for him, but that had not occurred to me until just now.
Verca then asked if I had any substantial gaps in memory. Each instance that the Mask appears is paired with skip in my memory--as if I was reading a book with missing pages. There is no active sense of missing, but start and end points that never line up. That did not seem to be what he meant though, because he then asked about when I was younger. About what my earliest memory was.
Like any child, my early memories are scattered. Most of them are moments with my dad or other similar scenes without context: running down hallways, playing games, traveling through the woods. But my first coherent memory has always been from the day I found Kaemon. We were walking through a city, and I was playing a game where I hopped between the cobblestones--avoiding the lines that ran between them--while holding Dad's hand. And then I saw the baby raven that had fallen from its nest, who I have taken care of every day since, just sitting on the side of the street. Verca asked how old I had been that day. I think I was about five, but I was not really keeping track of time back then.
More questions were asked between the three of us. It was less tense than the exchange between Verca and myself that had started things. These questions felt like lighthearted excuses to get to know each other a bit better.
Verca commented that his mom was great and that they had lived underground because she and his father were not apparently supposed to be anything. The use of past tense was lighting quick but just as loud as the thunder that follows, and it did not feel right to draw any more attention to it than that. She was an orc--the source of the tusks that he had pointed out earlier when we happened across our wanted posters that were poorly drawn aside from mine--, but when the priest asked about his father, Verca skirted around saying he was a tiefling. His demeanor was similar to when he originally avoided acknowledging the question about having a voice in his head from a few hours ago.
Similarly, Talo does not apparently know what they are, which seemed rather odd to me. I was also taken off guard when they then said that they are hiding something. I would have expected as much from Verca--it is a part of the reason I felt so guilty for my original question--, but not Talo.
As we were finishing up asking each other questions, I thought of one for Verca that I had no interesting in asking right now. The timing felt wrong, especially given that I had already made one tactless inquiry. Maybe it is something to ask at another time, farther down the line: what was his trial?
Before we left, the priest explained that the woman going by Rosi was a changeling and shared a story about an assassin apparently staying in the desert. We made plans to rest and then reach out to our ex-bandit friends to hopefully help scout out the area. It is too big of a desert to just go searching for her without a more specific direction.
Back at the inn, Talo took Verca and I into their room. They wanted to try speaking aloud more. For a long time, there were not any issues. Considering the fact that in the days we have known them, there has never been an issue of things exploding like they first explained, I started to think that maybe this was not something innate to Talo but rather something someone--or some other influence--had done to them. Perhaps a family member had been experimenting on them or maybe something in the environment was having an adverse reaction, and now that they are away from that situation, the more potent effects are fading. At some point they mentioned having no memory before they were adopted; I wonder if that is related to whatever was done.
As the conversation continued, though, I started to get tired. I originally did not put any further thought into the exhaustion; it had been a long day and we all needed to rest before we tackled finding Rosi tomorrow.
But then that singular pulse of fatigue grew into a surging tidal wave. The world started falling around me, and I was unconscious before I ever felt the impact of the floor.
While asleep, my dream started with that image from two nights ago. I was on the ground, looking up, and there was the sound of shattering glass. Then darkness.
The dream continued in a new direction, though. There were six glowing wings that extended from a figure who was obscured by their light.
"Everything is okay. Now is the time to rest," he said. "I'm sorry this happened. We'll take care of you." A hand reached out, and for a long time I did not move--too scared of whatever taking that hand meant. I did not understand who this was, who "we" was meant to be, or if this was the same entity as the Mask or something else. But after enough time of my questions being met with an unmoving silence, I reached out. There was nothing else I could do.
I took his hand, and then there was darkness again.
I don't know what I did that I can't remember, but I'm sorry for whatever happened. I didn't want to hurt anyone.

sleepy boys inc x gn!teen! reader headcannons
trying something new! i like bbs and all, but i wanted to write for other youtubers! lemme know if yall wanna see more content like this lol.
this takes place in a minecraft au!!! also, mentions of bad parenting/abusive parents
wc: 2,319
okay the sleepy boys
chaos incarnated, all of them. you can’t deny it
so, when tommy invites a friend from a local village, at first, everyone else is skeptical. since when has tommy made a friend who didn’t hate him within 20 minutes from all the screaming and insults he spewed?
unlike his friends, phil is more excited than anything. though he isn’t tommy’s dad, he feels like it sometimes, so he really wants to meet this new person who has caught the youngest’s attention
techno is very much not on board. he has a hard time trusting people at first glance and having been friends with tommy for the longest, he knows that tommy readily jumps the gun and attempts to befriend literally anything just because he can
and wilbur? indifferent for the most part. yes, he feels the need to make sure tommy is protected and cared for, but he also recognizes that this situation is out of his hands. the best he can do is hope that their friend isn’t an absolute asshole
so, it’s saturday. all three men are sitting on the couch in phil’s cottage, talking amongst themselves as they wait for tommy to come back. techno makes a joke about murdering them, which leads to phil scolding him about his violent tendencies
“you haven’t even met them yet, techno, what the fuck.”
wilbur is simply adding fuel to the fire, making little remarks here and there and watching the whole thing escalate to phil lecturing the piglin hybrid.
because of this, not one of them had noticed that tommy returned, with his newest friend. they both stopped at the sight of phil in dad mode, tommy considering just turning around and taking his friend as far away as physically possible
too late, since techno’s sixth sense made him whip around and stare at the newcomer. this made phil stop lecturing and wilbur quit giggling long enough for tommy to introduce his friend
after saying their name, the friend lifted their hand shyly, face burning from slight embarrassment. their other hand was latched onto tommy’s, feeling intimidated.
can you blame them? the fucking blood god looks like they wanna skewer them and cook them over a campfire.
tommy took notice of their shyness and cleared his throat, “we were planning on going to the carnival in their village if you three assholes feel like tagging along.”
like there was any way they were gonna let tommy and his friend go out without chaperones.
tommy turned back to his friend, “give me a second, i’m gonna go grab my sword just in case.” and proceeded to run up the stairs and towards the guest bedroom in phil’s house that he claimed.
the millisecond he was out of earshot, techno grabbed his friend by the front of the shirt.
“what are your intentions with tommy?”
the friend blinked once, twice, then bit back a smile. “you’re asking that as if i’m about to date that motherfucker.”
this time, it was wilbur who bit back a grin of his own. who would’ve expected the originally shy kid to have replied like that????
techno’s brain short circuited and his grip on their shirt loosened slightly. did.... did this kid just brush off his question???
“can you put me down? you’re gonna stretch my shirt.”
techno’s brain blinked back into focus and he gripped the kid’s shirt harder, shoving them against the nearest wall. “i asked a question, kid.”
“you know, tommy told me something like this would happen. i’m glad i came prepared.” and then, tommy’s friend sucked in a deep breath. techno leaned back, expecting the worst...
“MWISTER TECHNWOBWADE, PWEASE PUT MWE DOWN BEFWORE I SCWEAM”
oh god, this was far worse than anything he thought of.
he dropped the teen out of disgust more than anything, reeling backwards. if there was one thing that haunted his dreams, it was uwu-speak.
phil started howling of laughter, clutching his stomach and hunching over. originally he was going to stop techno from threatening a literal child but this outcome was so much better than anything he was anticipating
wilbur was no better, already tearing up from how hard he was snickering. he started choking on his own spit at one point, smacking his arm against the couch.
tommy was so fucking confused when he came back down the stairs, seeing the mayhem that was, for once, not caused by him. he glanced at his friend, who had the world’s biggest shiteating grin.
yeah, they were gonna fit in just fine.
and they did! phil took them under his wing (both physically and metaphorically) and allowed them to come visit his home whenever they wished. and whenever they did, phil was the first to ask how they’ve been and what they were up to
to phil’s surprise, the kid was overall calm in their choice of activities. things like playing soccer or drawing or figuring out how to learn instruments in their free time. it seemed like they were desperate to get their hands on anything and everything just to learn
he found it funny, though, when their chaotic side shone through. they easily were on tommy’s level when they got into that headspace and it was so hilarious to him.
his favorite memory of the kid was when they walked into the house and marched right up to where techno was reading idly in the corner. planting their hands on their hips, they spoke.
“if you were to fuck a clone of yourself, would it be masturbation or would you be considered gay?”
phil, who was washing the dishes six feet away from them, just about crumbled into a ball on the floor from how hard he was laughing and sobbing.
of all questions, that was the one that came out.
but he had no idea that the chaos was a coping mechanism. he just thought they were naturally like that in their free time.
he soon found out the truth when they came home with tommy, who was cursing up a fit, visibly angry. his friend was slumped over, as if trying to hide themselves from the world
when phil asked what had happened, tommy exploded.
“their fucking dad took all their money from their savings! said he needed it more than them and when they asked for it back, he called them a fucking disappointment! that fucking bitch--”
phil can count very few times when he felt true anger and he can confirm that when tommy had told him what had gone down, he saw red.
but he knew better than to outwardly show it. judging by how hunched over and defeated the kid was, what they needed was a stable support system
so he walked over and shut tommy up with a hand on his shoulder, “why don’t we take the rest of the night to build up that game room you wanted in the basement. i’m sure if we knock it out before techno and wil are supposed to be back, we can all play something like monopoly.”
seeing where phil was headed, tommy nodded and brushed away his anger. he knew that what his friend needed was a serious cheering up. tommy ran towards his guest bedroom, claiming that he was going to find his blocks.
phil crouched in front of the teen, tilting their head up to look him in the eyes. “you’re not a disappointment. you’re an amazing person with a chaotic joke machine going 120 kilos over the speed limit in your head and you are talented. your dad doesn’t know shit about what you’re capable of doing.”
oh boy, the kid’s crying. those are tears, full on tears.
that night was one of the best nights of their life, however. they enjoyed the entire three hour long game of monopoly where they watched the light leave everyone’s eyes. it was funny when wilbur lunged across the table when he landed on a railroad, out for phil’s blood.
speaking of wilbur, he enjoyed every minute in the kid’s presence. they often asked creative and random questions and went along with the abstract jokes he made, the two of them laughing heartily the entire time.
when the kid first mentioned wanting to learn how to play the guitar, he practically burst through the wall of the room next door, breathing heavily and exaggeratedly.
“did someone say guitar”
yeah, he’s feral. that’s canon.
they proceeded to spend the entire day in phil’s garden, each of them equipped with a guitar. despite their outwardly smooth brain and stupid demeanor, the teen was a fast learner and could play the most basic chords by the time the sun was setting.
wilbur’s favorite moment was the first night they met, when they went to the carnival. there was the game where you shoot the water and fill up the balloons and the kid was going head to head against techno and tommy.
it was when techno won that the teen turned to techno with murder in their eyes and spoke in a deadpan tone of voice,
“you’re lucky you won this time, you gentrified mayo monkey.”
wilbur’s jaw dropped, as did techno and phil’s. tommy was already in hysterics, smacking his hand against the counter that held the guns.
needless to say, wilbur found his favorite, not-quite sibling in a heartbeat.
techno was the last to come around with the child. can you blame him? every time he tried to threaten them or had beaten them at something, they would respond in a cryptic threat--
“i’m going to pee your pants if you don’t let me win”
or just brushed him off. without a second thought.
“anyways, i was murdering a chicken the other day, and the fucker had the audacity to ribbit at me.”
to say he was confused was an understatement. he was terrified of the fact that a literal child held so much power and disinterest in things like their own life. so for the first few months, he avoided them.
but he had seen past that when it was around midnight on a weekday. tommy was hanging out with tubbo and ranboo in their village miles away from the area. wilbur was out drinking with schlatt, niki, and fundy, and phil was already asleep.
techno wasn’t too far behind, sitting in front of the fireplace and staring out of the window that showed the front yard. it was only then when he saw the flash of a familiar face and looked closer as the teen walked up to the house quietly. their head was down and they carried a small bag with them.
techno opened the front door with a long creak as they reached the porch steps. it was only when they jumped and looked up in surprise that techno had noticed a deep bruise on their left cheek in the moonlight.
despite the fact that he kept away from them, techno was very protective and territorial of tommy, phil, and wilbur. and since they were attached to the teen, he became protective of them as well.
so all the voices in his head went quiet for a second. before exploding into a mixture of screams and threats, all leading back to protecting the child in front of him.
without thinking, he reached forward and cupped their face for a better view of the bruise. at the warm and soft touch, tears slipped down the kid’s cheeks and they sniffed pathetically.
the voices quickly took a 180, all screaming to take care of them. make them feel better. so, techno led the kid inside and let them spend the night in his room, with them falling asleep on the bed and him falling asleep on the rocking chair in his room.
phil did not hesitate to officially declare himself as the teen’s official father, saying that their biological father was a “little bitch”
now somewhat living with the teen, techno found an appreciation for their quieter moments, when they were reading or simply daydreaming. it was cute, in his eyes. but he also grew to enjoy when they were absolutely feral, especially toward tommy.
his favorite moment with them was when they had gifted tommy a music disc for his birthday. it was sweet and sentimental and tommy just about burst into tears when he saw it.
all of the sappiness quickly vanished when tommy put it into a jukebox.
“FUCK THIS PUSSY, BOY, FUCK. FUCK IT RIGHT, BOY--”
tommy had let out the most terrified scream and it practically engrained itself into techno’s brain. it was the first time he ever laughed at something the teen had done and the teen felt proud of themselves.
and finally, tommy. he was already happy to call himself a friend of the teen’s. they were like peas in a pod, working together.
tommy came to them when his insecurity felt heavy and they came to him whenever their dad’s words got to them. they had a nice system of dependency on one another and neither of them would trade it for the world.
tommy’s favorite moment of being friends with them was during their first birthday living in phil’s house. it was a birthday befitting their personality, with brightly color streamers hung and confetti all over the floor. he knew that they enjoyed it severely and once the cake was cut, the kid turned to phil.
“phil, where’s the big tiddy strippers i requested?”
tommy was GONE
he all but choked on his slice of cake and walked away, shaking his head while trying to stifle his giggles. but when he heard phil’s scream of “WHAT”, he just lost it.
all in all, his friend had made a fine part of the sleepy boys. they were a happy face in an otherwise somewhat bleak and dangerous world. and all four men appreciated it.

Lao Nie and Nie Mingjue have a good day together and bond. What was their relationship like before the qi deviation?
Boys - ao3
“Two paths, hmm?” Lao Nie said, squinting at the road markers in front of him. “Well, I don’t see why we can’t go down this one to the right –”
“No.”
“No? Why not?”
“Because little uncle asked me not to let you meet any new dangerous women,” Nie Mingjue said, looking as serious as ever – only his little hands, swinging to the side, revealed that he was just a ten-year-old. Still a child, no matter how mature he tried to act. “And a place called the Springtime Ghost Valley sounds like it probably has dangerous women.”
“Hey,” Lao Nie protested mildly. “Who’s the father here, me or you?”
“If a-die wants a new wife, little uncle will find one that isn’t inclined to kill him.”
That sounded like a recitation.
“Then what’s even the point,” Lao Nie grumbled, and reached out to ruffle his son’s hair, enjoying how Nie Mingjue yelped when he did, glaring up at him with offended dignity.
In all honesty, Lao Nie had no idea how he’d ended up with a son as serious and sincere and earnest as Nie Mingjue – he himself hadn’t taken anything seriously in years. Probably it was his mother’s influence.
Now that was a woman.
Not that his foxy second wife hadn’t been woman enough to blow him away either…
Hmm.
Perhaps they had a point about his taste in women.
“How about men?” Lao Nie suggested. “If it really means so much to you, I could swear off of women entirely –”
“A-die.”
“Mm?”
“Leave Sect Leader Wen alone.”
Lao Nie cracked up.
-
Because Lao Nie was the father, however easy-going he might sometimes be, they ended up heading down the right-hand path regardless. They were supposed to be night-hunting, after all – it was the perfect bonding experience according to Jiwei, though Lao Nie suspected his saber of having selfish intentions there – and deliberately avoiding a place with ‘Ghost’ in the name was hardly appropriate for scions of a Great Sect like theirs.
Although the reference to springtime was admittedly a little worrisome.
If it turned out to be a brothel, with the ghost thing being just a clever if somewhat tonedeaf marketing ploy, Lao Nie was turning around and taking them both home at once. He wasn’t going to risk little Nie Mingjue turning out anything like that awful Jin Guangshan – or, nearly as bad, having to explain anything more about the joys of sex to those earnest little button eyes and dimpled cheeks with no time to prepare first. He still hadn’t recovered emotionally from the last few times Nie Mingjue had asked him a question like that.
When they finally reached the end of the path, turning a corner to behold a clearing that was probably completely ordinary during the daytime, Lao Nie found that he’d been both right and wrong.
“It’s a ghost brothel,” he marveled. He’d never seen anything like it in his life.
“Dangerous women,” Nie Mingjue reminded him.
“A-Jue! Let your father live a little!”
Nie Mingjue rolled his eyes.
Lao Nie virtuously ignored his slightly judgmental brat of a son. It wouldn’t do him that much harm to go visit for a while, with the risk of Jin Guangshan-ness being relatively minimal; they were ghosts, after all. It was the duty of every cultivator to fight against evil, wherever it lived, no matter its form –
“Fighting? Is that what it’s called?”
“Who taught you sarcasm?” Lao Nie asked, knowing perfectly well that the answer was himself. “I ought to smack them.”
Nie Mingjue crossed his arms over his chest and pouted at him. “Fine, it’s fighting, we’ll go fight them. Do you want me to start drawing ghost-repelling talismans?”
“Liberate first!” Lao Nie sang out. “Come on, let’s go see what they’re like – er, that is, I mean, see what grievances they have that are keeping them here, of course. There’s no harm in dangerous women. Just don’t let them eat your yang energy!”
“It’s not my yang energy that I’m worried about, a-die…”
-
The ghostly madame was an extraordinarily charming person and Lao Nie liked her at once.
Not liked her liked her – he’d fallen head over heels with both of his wives from the first word, and that hadn’t happened here – but still, conversing with her was an extraordinarily enjoyable way to spend time.
She was witty and clever, with a broad range of knowledge and a gift for keeping a conversation lively and exciting; she could meet every verbal riposte with ease, and looked utterly gorgeous and composed the entire time. Sure, she kept trying to lure Lao Nie into an orgy in which all of his yang energy would be slowly sucked out before his body was ripped to pieces and his bones cracked open so that the ghosts could consume the marrow within, but what a way to go, right?
Nie Mingjue spent his time making friends with the ghost prostitutes.
Lao Nie wasn’t sure what he’d been expecting.
Well, he supposed he’d been expected a range of things – anything from Nie Mingjue getting suckered in by one of the ghosts and needing to be rescued by his father to Nie Mingjue just pulling out his Baxia and trying to stab them because he felt offended by their existence. He wasn’texpecting his ghostly conversational partner to suddenly frown mid-sentence and say, “What is he talking to them about?”
Lao Nie turned his head slightly and started listening.
“– just because you’re a ghost doesn’t mean you have to work allthe time, surely,” Nie Mingjue was saying, completely serious and earnest in the way he so often was. Lao Nie’s son had in fact inherited his sense of humor, only it tended to be buried fairly deep down and make its way up to the surface in an understated way in the most unexpected times; the rest of the time, he was straightforward to a fault, treating everything sincerely. “The birds in the trees, the animals in the fields – even among prostitutes, even the street-walking ladies know they need to take time to rest! I can’t believe you really have to work every single night. How long has it been since you had a night off?”
The ghost prostitutes around him had contemplative looks on their faces.
“Isn’t the whole point of becoming a vengeful man-eating ghost that you have more power than regular humans? I don’t know, it kind of seems like a bad deal if you have even worse conditions after all that –”
“I’m sorry,” the ghostly madame said, looking irritated underneath all her carefully painted smiles. “If you’ll excuse me for a moment…”
Lao Nie had to bite his hand to keep from laughing out loud.
-
“I think we’ve all learned a valuable life lesson today,” Lao Nie announced.
Nie Mingjue was pouting again.
“I don’t think we did,” he said, sounding profoundly skeptical. A filial child like Nie Mingjue shouldn’t sound so skeptical of his beloved father’s words of wisdom, really; if Lao Nie wasn’t so heartless, he might be offended. Of course, the skepticism might have originated from the heartlessness, so it was all six of one, half a dozen of the other in the end. “Those poor ghost ladies! They were still fighting each other by the time we left!”
“I’ve never seen a ghost pull another ghost’s hair before,” Lao Nie conceded. It had been brilliant. “One day, someone’s going to figure out a more reliable way to use ghosts to fight ghosts, mark my words.”
“Isn’t that demonic cultivation?”
“Oh, sure,” Lao Nie said, still cheerful. “If whoever it is does too much of it, eventually it’ll build up into a backlash that’ll kill them in some grossly horrific manner. Probably ripped into pieces by the backlash. And that’s not even counting how they’d be ostracized and hunted by the cultivation world first! But still, imagine how exciting it’d be in the meantime!”
“A-die…”
Lao Nie patted Nie Mingjue on the head again, earning another glare. “Immortality is a lie, A-Jue. We’re all here for a short time, each and every one of us, and only the length determined by fate and man. All that matters is what we do with the time that we have, and whether we’ve used it well.”
“To fight against evil wherever it lives, no matter its form?”
“To leave the world a better place than when we entered it, and to let our memories linger in the hearts of those that love us,” Lao Nie said. “Fighting evil is the best way to accomplish the former, and living a good life the latter. And you might as well have a good time doing it, if you can! Everything else is just extra.”
Nie Mingjue thought about that for a moment. “And a-die likes to have second helpings of extras?”
That was true. Lao Nie was a man of prodigious appetites of all sorts.
Despite that, he protested, “That wasn’t the point I was trying to make. I was being serious for once.” Seeing Nie Mingjue’s skeptical look, he made a face. “I can be serious, sometimes!”
“Can you?”
“It’s been known to happen! A date written on a wall will be right once a year.”
“Not if the wall gets painted over.”
“Ouch,” Lao Nie said. “I don’t even understand the metaphor you’re making, and I’m still going ouch.”
“Uh-huh,” Nie Mingjue said, utterly unimpressed. “You know, if you wanted one of the ghost ladies to be Third Mother, you would’ve been better off with the one playing the qin, not the ghost madame. She was much more powerful.”
Lao Nie arched his eyebrows. “Was she?”
Nie Mingjue nodded. “She had claws like a lizard.”
Lao Nie tried to remember which one of them had been the ghost girl playing the qin. He couldn’t quite remember at first – the women there were all surpassingly lovely, almost to the point of over-saturation – and then suddenly an image came into view, a beauty with a veil and sharp sword-like eyebrows, leaning over the qin with the shining pearl hanging in the center of her forehead dipping down.
And, yes, claws like a lizard.
“Hmm,” Lao Nie said. “That might have been a dragon, actually. You should be careful of those, they’re tricky.”
They’ll rip you and three dozen other cultivators besides into more pieces than can be picked up without blinking an eye, he meant, and you won’t even know what hit you. Avoid at all costs.
“Oh,” Nie Mingjue said, blinking. “Oops.”
“…what do you mean, oops?”
“Nothing bad! If I’m not supposed to interact with her, does that mean I should go and give back the gift she gave me?”
“She gave you a – give me that,” Lao Nie said. “This instant.”
“But a-die, you said there’s no harm in dangerous women –”
“For me, you foolish child!”
-
“I suppose it’s fine,” Lao Nie finally concluded, having inspected the dragon pearl from all angles several times over. “I don’t know how you do this, A-Jue.”
“Do what?”
Lao Nie thought about how his foxy second wife had cooed over his eldest son with a (slightly disturbing) fervor that she otherwise reserved only for eating snacks, and how viciously she’d dealt with anyone who’d even thought of interfering with Nie Mingjue in any way. He was fairly sure he himself had only survived his second marriage on account of having such a charming son.
“Don’t worry about it,” he finally said, mostly because he wasn’t entirely sure how to explain – or if he even entirely understood. “Anyway, it’s nothing dangerous. Rather the contrary! Dragon pearls like this are given to baby dragons to protect them.”
Nie Mingjue frowned. “What feeds on baby dragons?”
“…I think it’s mostly to protect them from themselves,” Lao Nie said, feeling a little uncertain about it himself. “And if it’s not, I don’t think I want to know, to be perfectly honest. There’s fighting evil, which is only right, and then there’s suicide, which is a waste – a wise man should know how to judge the difference between them. Anyway, that wasn’t the point I was trying to make.”
“It wasn’t?”
“It wasn’t, and you aren’t allowed to start worrying about the fate of theoretical baby dragons – I forbid it.” Nie Mingjue scowled. He’d probably started worrying already. “My point was actually that a pearl like this is a remarkably powerful protective tool for cultivators – one of those things that can only be found by chance and not made. Keep this on you, and you’ll never have to fear your opponent in battle.”
Nie Mingjue looked thoughtful.
-
“What do you want to do with that pearl, anyway?” Lao Nie asked after they’d gotten home and split up just long enough to take a nice long relaxing bath and gobble down dinner. “Do you want to put it in the treasury?”
Nie Mingjue blinked twice, which for him was practically the same as looking terribly shifty-eyed.
“You already did something with it,” Lao Nie deduced. “Something that isn’t using it as intended.”
“Oh, no,” Nie Mingjue said, looking shocked at the mere suggestion. “I’m definitely using it as intended.”
Lao Nie looked him up and down. “You’re not wearing it.”
“Well, I wouldn’t use it. Protection from your opponents in proper battle – that seems like cheating!”
Lao Nie felt a slight headache coming on. People who said they wanted a good boy for a son had no idea what they were getting themselves into, he reflected. Why couldn’t he have birthed a complete rascal instead?
“All right,” he said, instead of saying any of that because at the end of the day, bewildering as he might be, Nie Mingjue was his son and he loved him more than anything. “So what did you do with it?”
“I gave it to Huaisang.”
Lao Nie blinked. He supposed that really was using it for its intended purpose – protecting babies from themselves – although he suspected the dragon lady had been thinking of Nie Mingjue as the baby.
“Although…”
Lao Nie raised his eyebrows.
“…I think he may have swallowed it.”
My boys, Lao Nie thought, and had to sit down and hold his ribs because he otherwise feared he might split his sides from laughing so hard. Only my boys.

rott spoilers ahead
so i’ve given myself some time to think about everything and try to process it all and here are some of my thoughts on trollhunters: rise of the titans...
- straight off the bat, i loved the intro. opening with blinky telling the story of what happened up until this point was incredible. i would have loved if they had circled back to this though (i saw someone else say it should have been him telling the story to jim and claire’s kids and i loved that idea!)
- i also liked that they didn’t waste time at the start, instead they just jumped right into the action which was fun.
- honestly, i thought jim’s plotline throughout the movie where he basically thought he was useless without the amulet was just really not fun to watch. i understand why it was there and it played into the climax but i really did not find it one bit necessary seeing as i felt that we have grown beyond that. i felt it was overused. we’ve been there before and jim is aware that he’s the trollhunter, amulet or not.
- douxie being so soft with nari was genuinely one of the most heartwarming parts of the movie. i feel that we were really robbed of so much potential with douxie in this movie though. we didn’t see nearly enough of him. it seemed that the writers were picking and choosing when to remember how powerful he is. switching with nari and connecting to her are two examples of when they actually used his power, but aside from that they just disregarded it a lot.
- and speaking of forgetting how powerful people are... i’m genuinely so hurt and let down over what they did to claire. do they not realise how powerful she is? did they just forget about her character arc? it sure felt like it. she got to use her powers a few times (connecting to nari, portalling the titan, etc) but mostly it felt like she was saying she was spent and therefore unable to do anything. she is so strong and so powerful, and that’s just so empowering - especially for young girls. and then it kinda felt to me that rott was reducing her to basically nothing more than jim’s love interest.
- okay another quick note, it kinda felt to me that krel’s potential was also pretty wasted? he barely did anything and i just think he deserved more too.
- ew okay i don’t even want to think about it but i know i can’t discuss rott without talking about the mpreg thing. seriously, what the fuck was that? at first, i thought it was going to be a joke. i thought aja and krel were gonna wind steve up and see how far they could go with making him think he was pregnant just for a little bit of comic relief. but then he was actually pregnant. and so i laughed, because even though it was dumb it was kind of funny. weird and unexpected, but kind of funny. but by the time the movie was over it just didn’t sit right with me. looking past the fact that it was just more of them making steve’s character into a joke, i couldn’t see the logic in giving so much time to that subplot when other characters (claire, douxie) and other relationships (claire and douxie’s friendship) were sidelined. maybe if he had gotten a whole season the mpreg thing could have been included as comic relief or whatever, but with such limited time i really don’t see the point of wasting so much time on something so pointless.
- speaking of steve, i need to talk about creepslayerz... they really deserved more :( like i get that eli literally helped steve through child birth and then named one after him which was lowkey adorable but i loved their friendship so much and i was really hoping to see more of them. i was kind of hoping they’d get to do more as well. look i gave up on hopes of a romance long ago (even though i still really wished it would happen) but i hoped that at least we’d see some more of their friendship.
* by this point my brain has decided to forget absolutely every point i wanted to make... cue the brain fog (we don’t like her) and allow me to take a moment to read back and try to find my point again *
- i don’t think i can stress enough how much i loved the visuals in this movie. holy fucking shit it was just phenomenal. like wow. the art was absolutely fantastic and i’m really hoping for another the art of... book because i love the art of trollhunters and i feel that they could do with updating it to include the newer stuff. but yep, the animation quality was incredible and i don’t have a bad thing to say about it because just wow.
- speaking of art... a moment of appreciation for character designs. just wow wow wow. we love to see such intricately designed villains. we love to see growth in our other much loved characters. and the locations too? fantastic. beautiful. amazing. loved it.
- another moment of appreciation for jim. the hair. the scars. the injuries. the winter jacket. the fact that he looked a little older.... loved it. loved it, loved it, loved it. i cannot wait to spend hours pouring over reference pictures to draw them all.
- and claire... her armor being weathered and worn. her eyes!! her hair looked great as always. i just love her...
- nari nari nari... my goodness, her magic is so beautiful. i wish we got to see more.
- also, the jlaire moments were very cute. their kisses? so soft. they literally love each other so much. i adore them.
- what happened to the babies from the darklands btw? is not enrique just chilling in the lake’s house with a ton of babies?
- barbara deserved better. i would have liked to see her and strickler happy.
- on that note, why the actual fuck did they think a few explosives would win against magic?? literal ancient magic and these dumbasses were like huh i guess we should blow it up. i’m sorry, what?? y’all are stupid.
* currently trying to think of every possible point that isn’t to do with the ending because i really don’t want to think about that yet *
- the whole thing with archie and charlemagne felt super unnecessary. like usually characters sacrifice themselves and it’s like sad and you can see the reasoning and stuff. but they literally could have gotten out. i really did not vibe with that. it felt like they just did that to leave douxie with no one.
- that trollmarket was beautiful though.
- speaking of trollmarket... they really restored the heartstone just like that? are you joking? i was not impressed at all. the heartstone was dead and gone, could not be destroyed. did they just forget that? half the shit in wizards wouldn’t have happened if the heartstone could have been restored. very pissed off by that. it was dead, that was it.
- okay back to jim... love that he pulled the sword from the stone. it was cute that it was a group effort, kinda would have preferred if it was just him but that’s just a me thing. and maybe me and my daylight tattoo are biased here, but excalibur is not half as pretty as daylight.
- not gonna lie, jim yelling come on trollhunters! kinda got me. i was very emotional watching this.
- i think the most in character jim moment of the whole movie was when he dropped excalibur, he didn’t have his armor, he was all alone and he decided to make a fist and fight the wizard/god with literally no weapon or means of defence. i don’t think y’all understand how much i love this dumb self sacrificing selfless boy. i’ve said it before and i’ll say it again, he is literally one of my most favourite characters of all time. i love him with all my heart.
- the armor!! wow wow wow. that was a fucking cool scene. beautiful.
- jim getting stabbed or whatever with that fucking spear thing nearly killed me.
- okay here goes... toby. my sweet toby. jim and toby’s friendship is one of my absolute favourites ever. my goodness. and toby getting in the van and going to save jim was incredible and such a toby thing to do. of course he would think of doing that.
- but like seriously... claire and douxie are so fucking powerful and they were both just like lol i guess we can’t do anything to help jim? i’m sorry what?? don’t tell me that claire wouldn’t go full on black and purple eyes and get herself up their to him. i just... i’m so bothered by the fact that they were sidelined y’all :|
- also, do not seriously try to tell me that aaarrrgghh!!! would let toby go on his own. he would have went with him. he would have followed him.
- literally as jim was falling the first thing that went through my mind was oh aaarrrgghh!!! is gonna run up and catch him.
- and while we’re on the topic of aaarrrgghh!!! why tf did they have such a build up that something was going to happen to either him or blinky for literally no reason? wtf
- aaarrrgghh!!! would not have let toby go alone!!! if he had been there, he would have protected toby, he would have saved him and none of that mess of an ending would have happened.
* ugh here’s the bit i was dreading... the ending *
- first off, i am choosing to ignore it.
- time stone? really? we’re... we’re gonna do this? literally one of the most original things i have ever watched is now - at the literal last possible minute - rip off another movie?? really?? whyyyy???
- i literally cannot express how much i hated it. it was so fucking unnecessary.
- he didn’t need to go back that far!!!
- i’m actually trying to block this out but i suppose i have to at least touch on it. jim would never ever put that burden on to toby. he just wouldn’t. before even looking at all of the other issues with toby getting the amulet, i need to say that. it just wouldn’t happen. he struggled so much with being the trollhunter, he wouldn’t put that on toby.
- also toby literally never wanted to be the trollhunter?? he never wanted the amulet? he wanted to be a duke and have his war hammer and go on adventures with his best friend and his wingman and eat mexican food.
- okay so um i guess they all just forgot about unbecoming? cool cool cool.
- seriously though, was it not established many times that jim literally had to be trollhunter? and if he wasn’t it would be draal and everything would go to shit? did they just forget about that??
- having jim just decide to give toby the amulet literally takes away from the entire meaning behind jim getting the amulet and becoming the trollhunter. the amulet chose jim. merlin chose him. out of all of the creatures in the world, it had to be jim. he can’t just give that to toby!!
- and as much as i love toby, he would not last a day as trollhunter.
- and that’s not even beginning to mention all that jim erased by not becoming trollhunter. no father son relationship between him and blinky. they didn’t stop steve from picking on eli so no steve redemption and no creepslayerz. is he just going to allow enrique to be taken? toby will not have the same incentive to go into the darklands to save him if that’s the case. strickler will not show any sort of sentiment towards toby either. and then the big one...
- IS THAT FUCKER REALLY GOING TO ALLOW CLAIRE TO NOT GET HER POWERS??? WHAT???
- if jim isn’t trollhunter and the whole thing with enrique doesn’t happen then claire will never get her shadowstaff. let’s be real, strickler probably wouldn’t even need angor rot with toby as trollhunter. somehow i can’t see him making it that far...
- if claire doesn’t have her shadow staff then the whole thing with morgana won’t happen. she won’t destroy the shadow staff and then she will never develop her powers. would jim really rob her of that?
- okay i can’t do anymore, it’s too much for me now...
- i touched on this already in a separate post but i gotta say it again... i did not enjoy the destiny is a gift bit at the end. first of all, jim having toby find the amulet literally takes the meaning of that speech and his destiny away instanty. and second, i just could not stand hearing emile hirsch say the words that belonged to anton yelchin. it was just uncomfortable.
aaand i think i’m done. maybe i’ll have more later but i have a headache now from all of this.

Zelda OC #3 - Iphenia + Naida (sometimes)
>> (list of posts for other OCs)
(Heads up, this one is a bit long too, so just be prepared!)
I replayed Twilight Princess many times since that first time. I consider it to be my first real Zelda game because, as I said in the previous post, I was old enough to actually appreciate it as a game, rather than just have vague memories of holding a Zelda game in my hand. During some of these many replays, I thought about Ixchel, and I thought about Seracia, and then I thought... "Huh. These guys... kind of suck."
Between the fairy present with no explanation, said fairy literally just being a recolor of the first terrible fairy, the pet freakin' wolf, and the simping for Link... Ixchel did kind of suck. But some parts didn't! I was fond of her weapons, and I did love having characters that were bold and ready for action - probably because I was an awkward, sheltered nerd and lived vicariously through my OCs and their adventures. So I figured I'd refine Ixchel and Seracia once more, still keeping them for the Twilight Princess universe (because I will never not love that game), and before long I had my first iterations of Iphenia and Naida.
At first, Iphenia looked very similar to Ixchel, just with different colors and not so many belts and straps - and it made sense, since she was supposed to be a "refined" Ixchel. Like I said, I enjoyed the bold, adventurous personalities on my OCs, so she had about the same personality as Ixchel as well. I also still liked the idea of her name starting with an "I", because you don't really see too many of those. I don't exactly remember how I found it, but I eventually discovered the name "Iphigenia" - a princess in Greek mythology and a saint in Christian tradition. I didn't want to take the name directly, so I just deleted the "ig" and was left with Iphenia, which I felt sounded a little more "Zelda."
Iphenia also has a white fairy named Naida - the difference here is that Naida has an origin! It's a bullshit origin, but one nonetheless. At the time, a friend of mine had created an OC who was a goddess in the Zelda universe, and she blessed Iphenia with a protector in the form of a fairy. Like I said, kind of bullshit, but it's way better than Seracia just... being there. 😂
I used this version of Iphenia in a few drawings and stories, but eventually I decided that she was a little too similar to Ixchel. She needed to be more different, more independent! So, I gave her a bit of an overhaul, and to this day I still use this design - and Iphenia as a character (which I'll get to!)
She gained new clothes and lost the fairy! Not only that, but this is where I really started to flesh her out. Go figure that I develop her more as a character, now that she doesn't have to rely on someone else to constantly bounce off of. Naida was cool and all, but it was time for Iphenia to venture into a different realm... or rather, two different realms.
It was around this time that I finally got around to playing Skyward Sword, one of my top 3 favorite titles to this day. And with a new game, a new favorite character - and inevitably, a new ship - was bound to manifest at some point. Out of all the lovely characters in SS, nobody in particular caught my eye right away (shoo, Ghirahim, not now - you'll be in the next post). However, after finishing the story and completing a particular sidequest, a certain blue-haired boy of stout stature paved the way to a thinly-veiled self-ship with Iphenia as the vessel.
YUP, WE'RE TALKIN' ABOUT CAWLIN'S CHUNKY ASS
I'm not gonna lie - to this day, I love the dynamic between Iphenia and Cawlin. Since Iphenia (who gained the nickname Feeny for the rest of forever) still retained that bold and active personality, she doesn't take any of Cawlin's shit - instead, she sees right through it and finds an awkward Jerk With a Heart of Gold™ who's honestly just trying his best. On the other end, we have Cawlin, who finds that he can't intimidate this one into doing his bidding - but dang it, he still tries, and vehemently denies that he finds her natural intolerance for his BS... kind of refreshing actually. For a long while, he's completely oblivious to the fact that she likes him, but after his sidequest (where I feel the "proper" ending is the one where he's rejected by Karane), he stops looking through Karane-colored glasses and starts to come around to Feeny's advances.
I really do like these two together! Don't ask how in the world Feeny has blended seamlessly into the tiny, tight-knit community of Skyloft, but only just now acknowledged Cawlin's existence. I still don't have an explanation for that one kdjfhg.
But we're not quite done yet - fast forward a little bit, where I get my hands on Majora 3D (it's worth mentioning that I get these games relatively late after their release - way too expensive to buy them at launch). I'm just coming off the trail of OOT 3D, and am eager to finally see what the darkest game in the series has to offer, given that nobody in my family ever owned an N64. I play through, see the weird stuff that Ben Drowned has desensitized me to...
And then I step into Mayor Dotour's office. And for some reason that to this day I cannot figure out for the life of me, my eyes are glued to the Clock Town Corps Recruiter shouting at the oblivious carpenter. Was it the delivery of the one singular voice clip he has? Was it the fact that he's one of the only people in the town who is capable of common sense and wants to evacuate? Whatever it was, I'd finally done it. I'd fallen for a ridiculously obscure NPC. ...Or rather, Iphenia had fallen for the ridiculously obscure NPC.
In order to hide my shame for lowering the bar into hell, I came up with a legitimate, thought-out origin story - at least, as good an origin story as you can make in a game where the world is heavily implied to just be a giant fever dream. In this iteration, Iphenia is a young woman caring for her ill mother, and in order to make money for medicine, she enlists herself in the Clock Town guard. Though she remains headstrong in her motivations, she can't help but take interest in her superior, Captain Viscen, who proves to be incredibly serious about his job. He can't deny that she's physically strong, but her blatant disregard for her own safety for the sake of thrill-seeking and her weird need to bug him all the time forces him to keep a close eye on her, on top of all the people in Clock Town.
This time around, the dynamic is Feeny's "sweet but will absolutely get herself killed someday" to Viscen's "guy who keeps her from getting herself killed." And it, uh, happens a lot. Like the time Feeny found a Pictobox on the ground...
And Viscen's subsequent scolding of her wanting to do it again...
Okay at this point I might just be making excuses to show off old art of these two that I've never gotten to share before jdhfgjf. But, Feeny has gone through quite a bit of change, and I'm proud of where she is now! I even recently drew her with a bit of armor to show her place in the guard (one day I'll give her a proper suit! djfhg)
One more thing to note - during all of this, her weapons are largely the same as Ixchel's - the difference here being that there is only one blade on the rings now, with both the edge and the point being used to attack. She also carried a cloth around to clean them, as well as a pouch of literal rocks to sharpen them.
However, I eventually decided that these would be impractical - especially for her Majora iteration. So I settled on something else with both an edge and a point that would fit much better as a guard - a halberd! ...that I have not drawn yet. But I know it'll look similar to Viscen's spear, having the tassels and all. I'll add it to my drawing list!

Restless Rewatch: The Untamed Episode 14 first part
(RR The Untamed Masterpost) (Canary’s Pinboard - more Masterposts)
Warning: Spoilers for All 50 Episodes!
Murder Turtle, Continued
Lan Wangji wakes up after a good night's sleep leaning against a rock wall, to find that his leg is no longer splinted, and his perfectly clean and unbloody headband has been put back on his head while he was sleeping.
Leaving aside the "not waking up" part of things, how, exactly, did Wei Wuxian get his headband on without mussing his hair? Did he bring a crochet hook?
Wei Wuxian gives him a sitrep and then they cozy up and have an extended conversation about the nature and history of the Tortoise of Slaughter. Wei Wuxian is interested in everything Lan Wangji has to say, and Lan Wangji talks a lot more than usual; they are completely on the same wavelength here and are enjoying swapping obscure knowledge.
Lan Wangji: My lacerated leg and I are actually super aware that it has big teeth, but thanks for the reminder.
In the course of the conversation, Wei Wuxian mentions his plan to 1. sneak into the tortoise's shell and 2. drive it out of its shell so they can attack it.
OP did a little tortoise research and learned that the only species of turtle that can leave its shell is the Koopa Troopa.
Good news for Wei Wuxian: If you jump on its shell in the right spot, you can rack up a pile of extra lives.
Does that make the Tortoise of Slaughter a giant Koopa Troopa? Perhaps...the king of the Koopa Troopas?
I'm gonna say yes.
(More after the cut)
Let’s Go Killing
Wei Wuxian is exhilarated by the idea of fighting a giant dangerous monster with Lan Wangji. Some day Wei Wuxian will found the Nike clan, because his motto is definitely "Just do it."
It's sweet how, in his romantic notions about chivalry and Lan Wangji, he's completely elided the original reason they were (sort of) told to venture together.
Wei Wuxian: I'm still on the "find the Yin Iron" quest; I'm just skipping the "suppress it" part.
Wei Wuxian weighs up their chances against Bowser and tells Lan Wangji that even if they die, it will be badass to be killed by a famous monster, so they won't have to feel embarrassed.
This is the exact moment that Lan Wangji's feelings for Wei Wuxian go from "smitten" to "gagging for it."
Lan Wangji: as soon as we get out of here I'm going to borrow a whole lot of books from Nie Huaisang
The boys come up with a plan that involves a rather long montage of collecting archery equipment and deconstructing it. This potentially-dull montage is fun to watch because they are both very, very good looking.
Artists who want to draw Wang Yibo as an elven archer, this is your episode.
Now we suddenly have, with zero explanation, telepathy. Ok, sure. It seems to work kind of like a phone conversation, in which they say specific things to each other, rather than like Cherry Magic telepathy where you can hear everything the other person is thinking. Or at least, neither of them is embarrassed, so I assume they are maintaining some mental privacy.
Club Ruohan
Same, Wen Chao, same
At some point there is a boring sequence at Club Ruohan. Wen Ruohan doesn't know where Xue Yang is, but really wants his hunk of Yin Iron. Wen Chao thinks that WRH's 3 pieces of Yin Iron should be able to beat Xue Yang's 1 piece, but apparently he is dumb and that is not how math works. O...kay? OP does not understand this either but whatever, Wen Ruohan is boring, moving on. This scene is really just here to make us think about Yin Iron before Wei Wuxian jumps into Bowser's shell.
Bigger On The Inside
So then Wei Wuxian climbs into Bowser's shell, which is, to quote The 12th Doctor, bigger on the inside.
Bowser’s shell is the approximate size of my entire house. It is also bathed in a hellish pure red photo filter, which OP has done her best to remove for these gifs, because it gives me eye strain and it obscures Xiao Zhan's hotness.
Camera Operator: What did I do?
Wei Wuxian wanders around inside, finding random corpses encased in slime cocoons. Tortoise, spider, xenomorph, whatever. There are also random curtain things hanging all over, and then at one point Wei Wuxian stares into the face of a corpse, and then does a jump scare response at the camera operator even though nothing particular happened.
I imagine the corpse was supposed to open its eyes and say "killl meeee" but it got censored. He also makes about 8 other faces at the camera operator, so we get that the inside of this TARDIS-like tortoise shell (must...resist...temptation...to...say...TORDIS) is yucky.
Lan Wangji waits outside listening to Wei Wuxian telepathically complain about the smell. He is anxiously clenching a bundle of string and an arrow, and wishing he could clench Wei Wuxian Bichen instead.
Serendipitous Yin Iron
Wei Wuxian backs his way through the TORDIS until his butt bumps into a sword that is steaming with resentful energy. That's right: Wei Wuxian is about to pull a piece of Yin Iron almost literally out of his ass.
He grabs it and is overwhelmed by its screaming resentful energy and has to let it go again.
So this is what a vibrator with 4 batteries feels like
When Bowser comes looking for him, however, he quickly decides to go for it, grabbing the sword and singing "I've Got the Power (Gonna Make You Sweat)"
Wei Wuxian plunges the sword into Bowser's lower jaw, and Bowser pulls his entire head out of his shell with Wei Wuxian attached, while leaving the rest of his body and all rational laws of physics inside the shell.
Gamera Versus the Cultivators
What follows is one of the more ridiculous action sequences in the history of the world, and I say that as someone who likes Mothra movies.
Wei Wuxian hovers in a perfect horizontal plank while “hanging from” the sword, which is held well below the level of his torso. While Bowser spins him around. For much of the time, Bowser keeps his head still and just waves his neck around.
Lan Wangji and the camera operator do everything they possibly can to make "guy pulls on string" look interesting.
Everybody tries really, really hard and the actors are great at pretending something is there when it isn't, but this whole sequence is just horribly conceived.
What works well, though, is the Yin energy and Wei Wuxian's wrangling of it. He starts off being frightened and overwhelmed, and looking like it's too much for him; I dont' know if they made his face puffy on purpose or if that's just what happens when you spend days hanging from the ceiling fighting an imaginary monster. But he looks slack and unwell as he grapples with the iron sword.
Which makes this moment, when he gets control of it, deliciously creepy. He uses the power of the Yin Iron to stick a bunch of pokey things into Bowser's neck.
Lan Wangji has seen him struggling and now sees him...not struggling. Which scares the piss out of him, and he moves to finish the fight as quickly as possible, slicing up his hand and breaking the string. Combined with the pokey things, this does the trick and Bowser dies while Wei Wuxian faints and falls into the water.
Do the Whumpty Whump
Lan Wangji rescues him and wakes him up, and Wei Wuxian clutches the Yin Iron sword and tells Lan Wangji that he was knocked out by the screaming of disembodied voices.
This certainly sounds like a strange and dangerous phenomenon, so Lan Wangji carefully asks him to explain everything.
Ha ha ha j/k. Lan Wangji asks him exactly nothing about the strange sword or the black smoke or his weird evil smile or his new power over pointy objects. Lan Wangji appears to have a Star Trek: TNG level of unconcern about strange phenomena happening directly under his nose. But in fact he has noticed what's up, which is why he will be instantly distressed when he sees Wei Wuxian's flute moves at the Wen Corporate Headquarters.
Wei Wuxian has a fever (stay positive test negative) and comments on Lan Wangji's being so nice to him.
Wei Wuxian: I could never have imagined Lan Er Gongzi acting this concerned about me. Lan Wangji: what else have you never imagined me doing, while we're on the subject?
Lan Wangji transfers a stream of spiritual energy to him. Lan Wangji has so much spiritual power he can be a battery for Wei Wuxian without breaking a sweat or, like, noticing whether Wei Wuxian has a golden core or not, for that matter.
Wei Wuxian basks in the nice feeling of gigajoules for a while but then decides he's bored. So then he pouts, whines, and cajoles Lan Wangji in exactly, EXACTLY the way he whines at Jiang Yanli. I think this, while annoying of him, is a leap forward in his relationship with Lan Wangji.
He's letting his guard down and not just allowing Lan Wangji to take care of him; he's demanding to be cared for on multiple vectors, when he asks the guy who's already busy healing him to sing to him as well.
Lan Wangji obliges, singing him the song he composed about their love cultivation journey, while Wei Wuxian (or possibly Lan Wangji) (or possibly both) has a flashback to assorted sexy interactions that they've had so far.
Wei Wuxian memorizes the song perfectly on one hearing, before passing out.

ATLA Meta: Power Differences
So, there’s a TV Trope that at first I thought might fit with ATLA. ‘Conservation of Ninjitsu.’ It is where, no matter how many guys a person is fighting, they always come out on top. In any world, realistic or fantasy, with no superpowers, this is obviously unrealistic. Samurai and martial artists of the past could excel, sure, but if they were going up against another army, they had to have the numbers. This trope is called ‘Old as Dirt’ because even in Roman mythology it’s mentioned that one warrior ceasing to fight within a battle turned the whole tide. In media this narrative device tends to play out as the ‘hero’ or hero’s team being able to keep up with multiple nameless mooks, no matter how well trained in martial arts they are.
Think, Ninja Turtles versus hordes of Foot Clan.
ATLA is an interesting twist to this, because you’d expect benders to at the very least knock out lots of nonbenders. Those with powers should overwhelm those without, right? And yet, we see the second highest ranking person in the Fire Nation choose nonbenders as her primary fellow combatants! I’ve given a plausible explanation for this with Ty Lee.
In my fic, she has unique senses that allow her to excel past even most benders in hand-to-hand combat. She can track the movement of their gathering chi, and therefore predict what their resultant move will be. And she can also sense chi pathways, so she strikes with a sure hand. For Mai, I haven’t come up with anything specific. But, I encourage you to note, against benders, the necessity of taking up a ranged weapon like throwing stars and knives, as opposed to a close to the body sword or anything like that. Whether Suki was unusually skilled, or over-confident, or thought she had the numbers, or merely desperate in challenging Azula with a katana, that is up to the viewer’s opinion.
In my fic, I also explain how a nonbender might fight or defeat or disable (or kill) a bender, and extrapolate on how firebenders in particular MUST use non-bender techniques if they are to be truly effective in combat.
Did Suki ally herself with benders in other situations? Was Kyoshi wiped of benders like the South Pole? But their leader said that they stayed out of the war. Surely the original KW were benders? Why are there no adult Kyoshi Warriors?
Anyway, I’ve always liked ATLA because the ‘superpowers’ were subtle, and not truly ‘superhuman.’ It not only made the characters somehow more relatable, it blended with the world better and the stakes felt higher when they couldn’t just keep taking hit after hit like your typical superhero. Katara got knocked out in the North Pole, for instance.
So, this all still begs the question, given the scene where Zuko rescued Iroh from earthbenders, are there vast power differences between benders? Are the ‘heroes’ merely good at fighting because of that narrative device I mentioned earlier, or is their ability to fight off many foes at once canonically based? We have some clues to this, as Aang got his master tattoos earlier than any other airbender. It’s even explained by the fact that he’s the Avatar. So it’s not just typical Mary Sue OP, it at the very least has an in-world basis.
Azula and Zuko are powerful because Ozai deliberately sought out the Avatar’s bloodline, according to the comics. Which makes total sense for him to do. I don’t give a lot of credence to the comics because of the way it clashes with what the creators originally planned for the Ursa-Ozai relationship, but the reversal of royalty looking to “marry into” a family because of bloodline is interesting and really points up the sheer importance and power of this world’s Avatar.
Toph is OP because she is blind, and that has given her a unique connection to the earth. Katara is the only one without an explanation or justification.
If you don’t count Iroh, which I don’t. He is just OP. No explanation needed. Ok, so, I could spin a yarn about how the current dynasty of the Fire Nation retained their rulership because they are the strongest firebenders in existence. But that would only have tenuous basis in canon.
Just remember that the dude, practically in the nude, put a beat down on earthbenders that had shields for firebending (a very inventive use for those hard coolie-style hats). And that was when he wasn’t in shape like in the finale, or in this fic.
He also, in canon, as has been covered with Sokka in my fic, bested Azula’s hand picked team of men early in Season 2.
(These chapters I discuss here have not been posted to my fic yet, but they have been written. It's just getting the in-between scenes written that still needs doing.)
The idea with powerful benders accruing wealth or power might partially explain Toph. We don’t know if her parents are benders or not- maybe in current cultural mores they genuinely think bending and fighting are low class. But the idea that’s where her strength comes from back in family history would not be as fun as canonical blindness powering her up.
So, just how powerful is Toph?
She resisted Wan Shi Tong’s entire fricking several story stone library sinking.
When being pursued in The Chase, she made a wall that appeared to extend possibly a hundred feet in each direction. So thick, Azula had to resort to lightning just to break through it. I’m pretty surprised that, with only two nonbenders at her side, Azula even decided to keep pursuing THE AVATAR in that tank, going up against him AND power like that.
Speaking of Azula’s motivations. I’m going to freely admit here that this is an interpretation that is probably far away from what the writers were going for in canon, for Azula’s actions. But, I am attempting to look at it in a realistic lens, which is what I’ve aimed to do for everything possible in that fic.
For example, Azula’s refusing the hostage trade between Mai’s kid brother Tom Tom and King Bumi, I’m sure, was SUPPOSED to come off as conniving, cruel, and heartless, by the writers.
The implication was probably supposed to be here, that she would ‘rescue’ her friend’s ‘baby brother’ IF she were a ‘good person.’
However.
Bumi is an incredibly skilled martial artist who has most likely violently defended Omashu from the Fire Nation for an entire one hundred years. He therefore by default, by view of any even casual outside observer, is either powerful, or smart, or both. Azula would know this in detail, studying the war growing up.
He would be one of these OP benders. Like, REALLY OP.
The idea that a leader of her country should free such a dangerous enemy man posing a threat to her people in exchange for a toddler, is utterly ludicrous.
Now, maybe the writers intended the viewer to logic that out. But I doubt it.
Therefore, drawing kidnappers out of hiding to have a shot at rescuing him would be using her smarts in service to Mai and her family.

demise backstory (summary)
I didnt actually plan on wrtiting a summary of demises backstory (that i came up with, idk if its any good) but im realizing how long it will take me to draw it all, especially with job related things getting in the way all the time, so i guess im gonna post a badly summarised version of it right here right now, some things might change but thats always the case with my writing, nothings set in stone.
(please be aware that im not the best writer and didnt put much effort into this, it got longer than i thought but well meh :V ignore the typos, i wrote this at 1 am ;O; )
I didnt proof read anything, so this is a mess, anyway here goes nothin:
As far as i know, there have been multiple cases of hyrule having some sort of alternate mirror version of itself or just an alternate world somehow somewhere, so my personal idea about this is that demise WAS what hylia is for hyrule, a deity of protection. thats also where the whole inverted triforce symbols come from in my design for him, im not saying its lorule, but its definitely inspired by it to some degree. so they also had a triforce (here simply called "relics"), but it was split into the three pieces, for each of the three main nations/countries one, originally it was split like this as a way of sharing it equally AND to keep it safe, since if someone was to want the whole thing, theyd have to fight three different giant nations for it, which was thought as being pretty impossible.
as i said before, demise (might not have always been his name idk) was their deity of protection, he was there to keep the peace, to prevent the three countries from going after the relics themselves, tho he was always a cocky bastard he wasnt as destructive and hateful as he is now, back then he was still the servant of their gods after all. for a long long time he was successful at keeping everything as it was supposed to be, but of course, it cant go well forever, i dont have all the details yet but basically, those three nations started war after war, he was able to keep it from escalating for quite some time but at some point, the people found out that if they destroyed his statues (just like hylias in canon) to prevent anyone from praying to him, he wouldnt know, at least, not immediately (my idea was that the statues are a sort of communication link to whatever their god was, so in ancient hyrule, if you prayed to one of hylias statues, and asked for her protection/help, she would know instantly and show up within seconds)
alot of battles were fought without demise hearing anything about it, until someone found a statue that wasnt fully destroyed. when demise showed up however, the person had already died as they were wounded when fleeing from the battlefield. wondering how this all came to be he went to look for where that person came from, since if there was actual big trouble he should have known about it much sooner.
he must have missed the biggest battle his world had ever seen, given the sheer size of it .. and the amount of corpses scattered all over it.
this only happened because of the greed of the people in power for the rest of the relics, which promised power, more power than they already had, plus who wouldnt want to know what happen if the relics were combined again, given how they've been seperated since the beginning.
Fueled by anger and grief over how many people had lost their lives without him even KNOWING that a war of this size was happening, demise tried to ask the gods as to what he was supposed to do, how could he stop these needlessly cruel wars over something so small ? but the gods were silent.
so he had to decide on his own, what was the best thing to do ? after careful consideration he couldnt think of anything else but to destroy the relics, after all, he could touch or use them himself as means to prevent him, as an already powerful deity, from falling for that greed for power, just like the inhabitants of his world did now.
the first one was the easiest, they didnt know his plan and let him wander their sacred halls with no second thought .. until he raised his sword once he stood in front of that cursed relic that led only to bloodshed and death. of course the news started to spread that their protector had apparently turned against them, some thought it was because they destroyed his statues, others because they thought he feared they would be more powerful than him once they gathered all the relics. on his way to destroy the second one he was met with resistance, but nothing he couldnt get through. the third one was a fight of an army against one deity. demise won, but not without killing some of the people he swore to protect .. and the only reason he was doing this, was for their own good.
after the deed was done, instead of everything getting better, it was getting worse. the people were more united than ever. against him that is. and the world fell apart. the oceans started to shrink, the winds would blow more harshly with each passing day, plants would wither away as if robbed of life before it began. demise was never overly beloved by anyone even back in the beginnings, but he could deal with them hating and resenting him, as long as they wouldnt go to war against each other, he was happy, more or less. what he couldnt handle was watching as his world started to die a slow and agozing death, right before his eyes, without him being able to do anything against it. and the gods stayed silent.
was it because he destroyed the relics ? were the gods mad at him for going against their orders and deemed it appropriate to punish him by having to watch the people suffer ?or was it that the gods that were bored of playing with this world and moved on to the next ?
he would never know the answer.
the world died slowly over hundreds of years of painful suffering, desperately trying to to stay alive. even then the last remaining survivors knew him only as the destroyer of their world, responsible for their suffering. his former self wiped from memory, and only hate remained.
after the last mortal died, the last tree withered and the oceans were gone. there was nothing left to guard, nothing left but the ruins of the past and the painful reminder of how this all came to be. the question of why it had to happen, was never answered, as the gods abandoned him and his world a long time ago.
in a fit of rage he sought to destroy the last temples, the once sacred places which inscriptions have long faded away and the place he once called his home, where he used to speak to his gods before they fell into this agonizing silence and as he drove his sword through the sculpted stones which once housed their voices, it split into two . ..
..and through the cracks blew a wind carrying the scent of a world that was still alive.
#ganondoodles#long post#loz#tloz#demise#writing#wanted to write it really short#but it got a lil out of hand#please please ignore the typos#or missing words#im pretty tired and havent seriously written anything in like#10 years ?#its probably pretty cheesy ? or cliche whatever#once my brain makes up sth like this (all at once mind you) i literally cannot think it otherwise#details might change over time#but that always happens#;__;#also a bonus ugly sketch#weeeeeeeeeee#god this is embarrassing#>o<

prompt 6: “didn’t we already have this conversation?”
words: 1047 fandom: original (original loz storyline) characters: link (or sunspots), zelda (original loz storyline version)
link peered around the corner of the castle hall, looking back and forth to see if there were any incoming guards. he held his breath to listen for the sound of clanking boots, or idle chatter from guards standing at their posts, and turned the corner when he heard nothing. he tiptoed down the hall, pleased with his choice to keep his slippers on instead of his daytime shoes as the soft material made barely a sound on the stone floor.
distantly, a bell rang to signal the passage of an hour, a total of nine times. he would be expected soon at his first class, but he was rarely on time, so he wasn’t in a rush. no, link had something more important in mind than learning letters or numbers (though if he had a music lesson today, he’d have seconds thoughts). link was headed deeper into the castle than he’d ever been, even with queen zelda, who was happy to tour the large castle with him.
now in unfamiliar halls, his steps slowed, and link looked around in wonder. the stone walls here seemed scarred, with large scrapes and portions of the walls filled in with newer stone, as if at one point they’d all but crumbled away completely. he looked in a doorway curiously, going in when he realized there was no one there.
the room was filled floor-to-ceiling with bookshelves, and a glass case in the center of the room held clearly damaged relics- a broken magic rod, an ocarina that looked as if it was a touch away from dusting, even a large black and gold shield that looked bigger than he was. link stared wide-eyed at the contents for several moments before turning to the bookcases to see what treasures and wonders they might hold.
disappointingly, the books seemed to be heavily burnt and damaged- several had chunks of missing pages, charred covers and spines, and even some that were nothing more than a carefully bound pile of loose papers. others seemed to be so old that the text had long since faded, or written in hylian forms that hadn’t been used in hundreds of years.
finally, the young boy came across a book in better condition than the others, on a shelf just barely too high for him to reach. he stretched, pulling himself up a shelf and grabbing at it the best he could. it fell from the shelf and hit him on the head before landing with a heavy thud on the stone floor.
link froze as the sound reverberated though the room and down the halls. after several moments without anyone appearing, or the clang of metal boots stomping on stone, he relaxed and picked up the book and sat with his back to the bookcase.
like the others, the words in the book were old and somewhat faded, but the pictures were still viewable, and he found himself drawn in by the depictions. sword-wielding heroes in green faced down monsters that threatened their homes, drawings of different races that were similar to those that he learned about in his classes, a set of triangles that shone with golden light- he so deeply engrossed by the pictures that he didn’t hear the footsteps enter the room.
“ahem.”
link froze at the sound, and slowly looked up from the book to find not his instructor, not his personal guard- not any guard, in fact. stood in front of him, with crossed arms and a raised eyebrow was queen zelda, and link felt his heart drop.
“um.. good morning, queen zelda..” link said weakly, and she sighed. he prepared himself to be scolded quite fiercely and to be sent to his room until dinner, and was quite surprised to see her come to sit by her side.
“didn’t we already have this conversation, link- about both my name and the rules about off-limit rooms?” she asked, gently taking the book from his grasp and closing it, reading the cover before turning her attention back to him.
“yes ma’- yes zelda, ‘m sorry zelda,” link apologized, looking mournfully at his lost book. zelda seemed thoughtful for a moment, and then waved him closer. he hesitated, unsure of if she really wanted him closer, and then inched closer until he was pressed up against her side.
“you may call me queen zelda if you’d really rather, link, but i find the title to be so formal and i’ll tell you a secret,” she leaned in, “i really only have people call me that at stuffy meetings. some of the shop owners still call me zelly from when i was a little girl your age.”
“really?” link asked, feeling somewhat doubtful. he couldn’t imagine the regal woman as a kid like him, running around in the halls and begging the chefs for sweets before dinner.
“really. ask the baker for zelly’s favorite treat if you don’t believe me! now, tell me about this book you found?” she carefully brushed away some dust from the cover, revealing the faintest picture of three triangles.
“i was looking at all the pictures in it- there are ones of the heroes, and there are monsters, and there was a picture of that old music ‘corina over there in the box! did one of the heroes use that one? do you know the songs from it?” link asked eagerly, nervousness at being in trouble gone at the prospect of getting to know more about the book, and the idea that a hero of old could have played a little wooden ocarina like the one he’d started practicing with.
“well yes- many heroes of old used magic mixed with music on their journeys. i suppose you might like to hear about them?” zelda asked, and link nodded his head so quickly he almost knocked into the bookshelf behind him. zelda laughed, and carefully opened the book to a picture of the old ocarina.
“well, many, many centuries ago-”
“how many?”
“so many that we still don’t know how long it has been- it’s honestly nothing short of a miracle that the ocarina over there has survived, though not likely that it is the original. now, listen and don’t interrupt link. as i was saying, many, many centuries ago…”

review of King Lear at the New Spruce Theater
OK OK OK so on Wednesday I went and saw King Lear (I was supposed to go see it on Tuesday but it was canceled because of a storm- how ironic)- and now I shall tell you all about this production
Side Note- I waited a few days too long to write about this and chances are I forgot a bunch of stuff by now- sorry about that
Overall Opinion on the play as a whole:
-Every single actor was incredible and the stage (which was sort of non-existent) was set up/ designed really well. Acting and Stage design (I’d call it set design but there really wasn’t much of a set) gets a 10/10.
-as for the overall stage directions, they were neat most of the time but more noticeably, very unexpected. But that made it better (more on this in the more detailed section of the review). They get a 9/10
-as for what was cut/changed from the original text of the play? Yeah that gets a -3/10. Just. I’ll explain this in a sec but. Ugh. Not happy about the changes.
OK NOW FOR THE MORE DETAILED REVIEW:
(I’m gonna try to go in order of the play, but if I remember more stuff later I’ll add it in at the end)
-The actress playing Cordelia was so pretty I can’t she was gorgeous (all the lear sisters were pretty but specifically the one playing Cordelia
-ALSO Cordelia was 100% ready to punch something the whole time
-and the tone she said her lines in 100% conveyed “oh wow dad I can’t believe you’re actually doing something this stupid Wow you can’t be serious. Oh OH HECK YOU’RE SERIOUS”
-at the opposite end of the acting spectrum, the actor who played Gloucester was apparently so forgettable that I can’t picture any scenes he was in. I just don’t remember A single thing he did. I mean I know logically the story of King Lear but I just can’t picture this guy. I’m trying to remember what he looked like and I just can’t.
-in 1.2 when Edmund’s totally trying to hind the letter, he blatantly drops it in front of Gloucester, and then tries to pick it up and drops it again before putting it in his pocket
-OH WAIT before I forget let me mention the doublecasting! SO France and Edgar were played by the same guy, Albany and Oswald were played by the same guy, and Cordelia and Servant 2 were played by the same person. Then any random messengers or whatever were played by the same background actor. And The Gentleman was cut entirely.
-Regan and Cornwall were 100% a great ship here- every time they were together it was clear they loved each other- they were normally holding hands or something. On the other hand Goneril and Albany never stood as close together as Regan and Cornwall did.
-Kent’s insult to Oswald was delivered entirely like this and that made it 10x funnier
-AND OSWALD. Let me just say. He was the #1 best actor there. His whole thing in this performance was that he’s absolutely terrified of everyone. In his fight with Kent he has a regular sword and Kent has a small knife, and Kent just calmly walks up to him and knocks the sword out of his hand. And Oswald backs away and covers his head/face in self defense as Kent continues approaching him, and Kent just calmly hands Oswald his sword back, which he eventually takes. AND STILL LOSES THE FIGHT.
-just. Comedy.
-and in Oswald VS Edgar, Edgar was unarmed and Oswald had his sword, and Edgar just kinda grabbed the sword from him and stabbed him.
-WAIT I STILL DIDN’T MENTION THE BEST FIGHT. Edmund vs Edgar round 1 (ie the fake fight Edmund has them do for Gloucester to overhear). Edmund’s all like “draw! seem to defend yourself!” And Edgar has no idea what’s going on so he kinda motions “wait what?”. Edmund doesn’t have the patients for that so he grabs a second sword and sword fights himself while Edgar’s just standing there.
-and now let me mention The Fool
-who used his ukulele for comedic effects (idk how to phrase that, but what I mean is he’d do the ukulele equivalent of the drum’s ba dum tss whenever something funny happened)
-OH ALSO they would break the forth wall every five seconds
-best example of it was when Kent was like “I have seen better faces in my time”, he made a big show of examining the audience
-ALSO. at the end when Albany was accusing Edmund of treason and all that, Edmund went “oh yeah? You wanna see treason? I’ll show you treason!” And started making out with Goneril right in front of him. So. Good for him.
-when Cordelia was about to be lead away to prison she punched the guard in the stomach and tried to get away. So. VERY good for her.
- NOW ONTO THE STUFF I DON’T LIKE THAT THEY CHANGED
-they cut Curan
-they cut Edmund’s opening lines in act 5 (where he says something like “hey has Albany made up his mind yet about the battle plans? Because he keeps changing his mind and it’s annoying”). Yeah this is a pretty minor complaint, but I always felt like that line sort of establishes him as a person leading the war, and therefore makes the whole argument with Albany in 5.3 make more sense.
-also they changed Cornwall and Regan VS Servant 1, by having Cornwall stab servant 1, Servant 1 fake dead, Cornwall turns around to talk to Regan or something, Servant 1 gets up and grabs the knife and stabs Cornwall, they both die. Which takes away Regan’s only kill.
-and earlier in that same scene Cornwall did the whole “I’m gonna kiss you so you shut up for a bit” thing, which was fine but combined with taking away Regan’s only kill it made Regan come across as meeker than I would have liked.
-AND ONTO THE ABSOLUTE WORST CHANGE THEY MADE-
-in 5.3 when Edgar shows up to fight Edmund and before the fight they ask him “who are you”, he’s like “yeah I’m Edgar I’m here to fight Edmund, my brother.” And then they fight. And they cut all of Edmund and Edgar’s conversation afterward because it’s all irrelevant now that everyone including Edmund knew it was Edgar from the start.
Ok yeah I think that’s it (unless I come back and edit this later)

Back To Spots
“Are you sure this is a good idea?,” Madara stared at his idiot friend incredulously. “If we die in here, I’m going to kill you Hashirama.”
Hashirama paused his snooping, turning away from the test tubes balancing precariously in his hands. He set them down on the table, a smidge too close to the edge if you asked Madara but whatever. That was Hashirama’s problem when Tobirama saw how displaced everything was. Brown eyes peered woefully at him, tearfully vehement as the other man pouted, though ineffective with the messy state Hashirama was in. Scraps of parchment paper were stuck in his hair, ink streaking across his cheek and speckling his fingers.
Madara crinkled his nose, chucking a handkerchief into Hashirama’s face.
Hashirama beamed, rubbing the cloth against his cheek and smearing the ink more. “I don’t think it will be that bad Madara. Tobirama has a lot of protective seals around his lab to keep it safe!”
“Seals that you’ve no problem getting around!”
It was worrisome really, as foolish as Hashirama was, being related to Tobirama and married to Mito had left him with many chances to learn basic skills. While he could not fully understand the way seals functioned or how to lay them, he knew much too well how to disable some. Some like the ones Tobirama had around his lab.
Not to mention his willingness to disable them.
“Now Madara—,” Hashirama began, shoving the napkin into his pocket before snatching up another scroll that looked newer and striking through yet another one of Tobirama’s protective seals.
“See! Like that! You even took down the damn wall with your Mokuton just to get in here! If we don’t die because of whatever disasters are in here then we will die at your brother’s hands!”
Madara shuddered. The last time he aggravated the younger man he’d found himself on the receiving end on some awful seal that summoned nearby birds and critters to him, drawing them to burrow and nest in his hair. Villagers had flocked around him, curious and far too amused, tittering behind hands as they watched the animals lay siege to Madara’s hair knowing he was too busy running away to scream at them. His hair was ruined, bitten off and tangled so horribly that he had to chop the strands to a length he hadn’t had since being twelve years old.
He can already hear the sharp snap of the younger man’s voice— “Don’t go in my lab without me!"— as if he were standing right there.
"It’s important! He’s been in here for weeks—" Hashirama exclaimed, puppy dog eyes on full force.
"Three days! He was in here for three days and he actually came out to eat and take naps—”
“—and who knows what he’s been getting up to! He could be getting hurt or devising something awful—”
“He’s been making food preserving seals for the past month!”
“Do you remember the chain-reacting explosive tags? The undead jutsu? He said he was working on enhanced storage seals!”
Madara froze, mouth opened to yell, and clamped his lips shut. Tobirama did have a way of spiraling away from his original intentions— it wouldn’t hurt to just look to make sure nothing was too….deviated.
“Fine,” he huffed. “But if anything happens I’m chopping your hair off!”
Hashirama squeaked, hands coming up to clutch at his hair. And knocking over the test tubes, sending them careening to the floor with a resounding shatter. Madara watched in horror as the liquids met the black lines of a seal Hashirama had left on the floor— to be analyzed with Mito, he said— and lit them. Colored smoke filled the air and Madara could hear the ground breaking apart moments before Hashirama used Mokuton to send them upwards away from the mess. With a quick wind jutsu, weaker than usual he noticed as his vision swam, Madara sent the smoke into the vent system Tobirama had incorporated early on in case of explosions or dangerous fumes.
Madara rubbed his eyes, carefully lowering himself to the ground. His body was aching— much like the summer over a decade ago when he’d grown almost half a foot in what felt like a few short nights. Coughing, he looked up to see how his friend fared and shrieked.
Sitting in front of him, rubbing his eyes, was Hashirama. But a twelve year old Hashirama. With too big clothes and that godforsaken bowl cut.
“What the fuck! Hashirama, you're—”
“Oh my god, Madara you—”
Madara glanced at his hands. His smaller than before, less calloused hands. “We’re kids again. What the fuck? How? Hashirama!”
He snarled, throwing himself forward to tackle the other man, no, boy, to the ground. “The fuck did you do Senju?!”
“I don’t know— ow! Madara! Don’t, not the face!”
“I'll end you!”
———————————————————-
Half an hour and a semi brutal spar that resulted in Hashirama’s entire face being painted in ink later and both boys were sitting sullenly in the debris they had made of the once pristine lab.
“Tobi’s gonna kill is,” Hashirama sniffled, tears cutting through the black. “I won’t even get to see what my baby looks like.”
“If they’re lucky, nothing like you,” Madara sneered, pulling at the sticky glue-like substance that he’d tumbled into during the fight, snarling angrily as his sleeves still stuck together.
He was surprised his clothes even stayed on, they were so big, but the ties must have worked for something. Hashirama had already wrapped himself up in the excess cloth and tied it off as tightly as he could with his obi and other straps of fabric that he tore from his haori. Madara, on the other hand, would just have to wait.
He tugged at his sleeves again, cursing the glue and Hashirama.
“Ah Madara, don’t be mean!” The brunette sobbed. “My baby would be cute! Even if they looked like me!”
Madara opened his mouth to respond— wanted to sneer that it was good Hashirama knew he wasn’t attractive— but froze as the door opened at just that moment. Red eyes peered distractedly over a thick book, widening as they caught onto the state of the lab. With careful movements, Tobirama lowered the book and set it down, hand reaching for his sword.
“Anija. Madara. What did you do?” He snarled low in his throat, biting through every word like a separate sentence.
The boys blanched, glancing to each other and then shunshinning to the window only for Tobirama to slam his hand against the wall, a seal stretching across the metal to form a barrier they couldn’t get through.
“It was an accident!” Hashirama wailed, gasping through his crocodile tears. “I-am-so so-rry o-tou-to.”
He ran over and clutched at Tobirama’s yukata, burying his messy face into it. “I’m such a bad brother!”
“Anija! Stop that! You’re dirtying my— get off you idiot!”
“I just wanted to make sure you were safe and—!”
“By destroying my lab?” Tobirama shoved at Hashirama, stumbling when the boy’s grip didn’t let up. “Damn it, you poisonous vine, let go!”
“Tobi—!”
“I will get Mito-nee in here so fast—”
Hashirama yelped, letting go with a heavy pout. “You don’t have to be like thaaaat,” he whined, scuffing his foot on the ground. “That’s a really low blow, Tobi. How could you do that to your precious brother—”
“After he destroyed my lab and turned he and his idiot friend back into children?” Tobirama snarked, leveling both of them with a sharp glare. “I’ve no idea.”
Madara shuffled guiltily, wincing as he took in the mess they made.
“We can clean it up!” He offered quickly. Hashirama squawked, shaking his head.
“Oh?” Tobirama quirked a brow. “Properly?”
Madara could feel Tobirama’s chakra rise and fall, unsteady and bothered like a riptide, dragging him closer to anger and not letting him calm down, and nodded hastily. Hashirama became frantic in his head shaking, panicked as he looked at the mess miserably,
“Absolutely. No problem. It’ll take an hour. Tops!” Madara promised, grinning a touch sheepishly even as he tossed his friend a glare. “I understand why you’re upset— we shouldn’t have invaded your privacy and we certainly shouldn’t have made such a mess of things. We were concerned but we should have respected your boundaries. You’ve my sincerest apologies Tobirama.”
Tobirama’s gaze softened and he huffed out a breath, rubbing at the bridge of his nose.
“It’s fine. You haven’t gotten into anything too important. We now need to figure out what you two have done and fix it. None of my seals were meant to do this.”
Hashirama slumped in relief, “Oh thank god, I hate cleaning— what?”
———————————————————
“Oh wow, I haven’t seen Hashirama look that awful in years," Touka breathed out in wonderment. ”I almost forgot he was such an ugly bastard.“
"Touka-nee, you’re supposed to keep an eye on him so he doesn’t destroy anything, not keep an eye on his confidence to just destroy it,” Tobirama sighed over his brother’s wailing. Then, speaking over the sound of Madara pummeling his brother, asked, “Mito-nee, will you be able to handle the Hokage’s duties in your state?”
His sister-in-law and he were able to deduce that the jutsu, since many had overlapped and were then combined by the liquid soaking through the papers and smudging the inks, would eventually wear off on its own, a few days at most given the seals were not meant for major bends in time and space. And, even without that, it would, or at least should, not take them too long to devise a remedy.
But that was for tomorrow. Now, they were much too tired and irritable.
“My pregnant state, Tobirama?” Mito arched a brow. “You’d be amazed at what I can handle in this state, brother-in-law. The bigger concern is will you be able to handle Madara while Izuna is away?”
Tobirama looked at the two boys now disguised as other, unidentifiable children. Too many people remembered them as children or at least would recognize their features. With their weaker abilities it was best to keep them hidden and separated (they couldn’t last too long without bickering and yelling each other’s name in rage, like the complete idiots they were) to not give away the precarious situation the Village had now found itself in. The jutsu that changed Madara’s haír to a soft, pale blue, gently wishing about his face and skin to an olive tone did nothing to hide the fire in his chakra boiling beneath.
A new student from a distant place— Cloud Country perhaps— that was the story they would go by. A student adopted from parents Tobirama had saved.
The younger man felt a sudden tiredness fill his bones watching Madara blow flames at Hashirama’s shoulder length purple hair only to be slapped at by many flowers that erupted quite spontaneously from the wood paneling on the wall.
This would be a long few days if they couldn’t undo the mess that was made of Tobirama’s work.
“Izuna may find himself rather alone if he doesn’t hurry back,” he rubbed between his eyes, hand glowing green to chase away the headache. “Who knows? He might thank me.”
He ignored the smirks on his cousin and sister-in-law’s faces, snatching Madara by the wrist and all but hauling him out of Hashirama’s home to his own. Madara glared and very pointedly took his hand away to instead clasp Tobirama’s in his own, twining their fingers together and smiling triumphantly when Tobirama did nothing but sigh.
Oh yes, it’d be a long few days indeed.
———————————————————
The walk home had been silent, the streets much too empty for distraction and they were inside Tobirama’s home before he could properly gather himself. He could admire the timing, if anything. Just yesterday his house had been strewn with far too many papers and even some dust, given the time he spent in the office or his lab instead. Messes from ruined meals had been spattered across his kitchen and his dirty laundry pile had consisted of all of his clothes save for the set on his back. That was the breaking point, sending him into the cleaning frenzy that lasted clear into early morning, until every corner was cleaned to pristine, his laundry washed, dried, and packed neatly away. It was the most presentable and welcoming his home had ever been and the first time Madara, child or not, would actually step past the threshold.
He resolved to give himself a silent pat on the back, watching carefully as Madara took everything from the bookshelves to the altar in, knowing those hawk-like eyes were looking for dust as his clean freakishness often had him doing and finding none.
The tension seeped from Madara’s shoulders and he carefully took off his shoes, setting them neatly aside as he wandered furthered in, already growing comfortable in Tobirama’s small space. At least, if anything, Tobirama could rest knowing he had made a good impression, hoping it would serve him well when the jutsu finally wore off.
“You know,” Madara began over his bowl of noodles, slurping the noodles gracelessly. “I don’t think your brother would’ve wanted me to come stay with you if he knew I was courting you.”
“You’re a child at the moment— that’s hardly relevant right now,” still Tobirama felt his face warm and he swallowed some of his food quickly to disguise it. What they had while Madara was an adult was— nice. A small secret for just the two of them while they got comfortable with each other.
Just the other day he and the older man had a picnic besides a lake closer to the edges of Konoha, waded deep and relaxed beneath the stars— quiet because they hadn’t needed any words to enjoy just being with each other. It was smiles upon eye contact, soft laughs at little quirks. Thinking of slightly chapped, languid lips against his own, gentle like the brush of fingers on something so invaluably precious and irreplaceable, the feel of coarse hair twisting in his hands and just the comfort of a body pressed to his to block the chill of night air made something warm build in his chest and spread to his cheeks.
It wasn’t so nice a memory to think about when his beau was a mere twelve years old to his twenty-eight however.
Madara set his bowl down carefully. “Does it bother you?”
“Hm?” Tobirama wasn’t used to the other man, boy, being so pensive. He put his scroll down and met Madara’s eyes, concerned.
“Does it bother you to be with me?” Madara clarified, clearing his throat as he sat up straight. “I know with our past, the rumors, and our temperaments— they don’t exactly make for an ideal relationship but…”
Tobirama interrupted. “But yet I have not rejected you or your gifts,” he frowned. “Madara, my only problem before was that— well, I had wanted to keep things private for a bit and have time for us before Anija started planning a wedding and now, well you’re a child now,” he scrunched his nose in disgust, giving Madara a pointed look when the boy stared at him with a fondness much too heady and mature for his age. “It’s best not to think of my attraction to you given the circumstances.”
Madara flushed, looking away quickly. “Ah right.” He paused for a long moment before a cheeky grin pulled at his lips. “I suppose I won’t be allowed to sleep in your room then?”
Tobirama scowled, throwing cold tea into Madara’s face, relishing, privately, the crack of the boy’s voice, so much more high pitched than how Tobirama knew it to be.
———————————————————
“You can’t do that Shouta,” Tobirama hissed between gritted teeth. It was only the second day and he was ready to throw Madara, now going by Shouta, into the deepest, roughest river he could find.
Drawing a deep breath to calm himself, he willed water from the air to douse the flames engulfing the now terrified shopkeeper’s stall.
“He was flirting—” Madara bristled, crossing his arms. “He deserved it!”
Tobirama huffed, apologizing quickly to the shopkeeper and pulling Madara away. “He asked where I got my kimono—”
“Because he was admiring the way it fits you!”
Tobirama cringed. Madara’s voice as an adult never, not once no matter how much he was yelling, ever got so shrill. He would need to invest in earplugs at this rate. Glancing around discreetly, he shoved Madara around the corner, away from prying eyes and dropped to a crouch so they could talk face to face.
“Because he liked the fabric and wanted some pieces made for his daughter! You are completely insufferable, even as a child!” Tobirama snapped.
“I’m protecting your virtue! Hashirama said you never realized when people were interested. And that shopkeeper was interested. I know he was!” Madara protested angrily, before turning away and crossing his arms, grumbling curses under his breath.
Rubbing at his nose— it was a wonder the shape hadn’t changed after all the times his frustration had him irritating it— he sighed explosively before swallowing a quick, calming breath. Younger Madara lacked maturity and sense apparently so Tobirama needed to gain patience.
“Madara, you trust me, correct?” he asked softly.
Madara turned back to him curiously. “Of course.”
“So why would anyone showing interest in me be a reason to get so angry unless you thought I would leave my courtship with you for them? That is a lack of trust towards me Madara,” Tobirama explained. He’d seen too many people treat their partners in such a manner and he detested it. He wanted to be able to be himself without worrying how others would perceive him— he had lived much too long with others in mind.
Madara fiddled at the braided bangs Tobirama had put his hair into, pinky finger touching his lip.
“I didn’t mean to make you feel that way,” he whispered. “I just…don’t like it.”
Tobirama smiled softly. Madara, no matter his age, was always much too protective. He couldn’t fault him though. Not now.
“Let’s go, I have to get some shopping done. I think you already finished all the food I had in the house.”
Madara blushed fiercely, ducking his head so his hair fell in front of his face though he still took Tobirama’s hand in his.
“You said I could have whatever I wanted!” Madara’s free hand was back by his lips again.
“Ah right. Whatever, everything. I see how you could get the words confused,” Tobirama ribbed gently, easily pushing down Madara’s hand so the boy wouldn’t bite his nails. “That’s a bad habit, don’t do that.”
As they passed the still horrified shopkeeper, Madara stood upright, pout replaced with a haughty sneer. “You talking to him won’t change anything. He’s mine.”
Tobirama flushed, letting out an awkward laugh as the other villagers eyed him in curious amusement.
“New student,” he grimaced through an explanation. “You know how they are.”
“We know how they are with you Tobirama-sama!” Someone called out, drawing more chuckles from the crowd.
“He’s so cute!” A lady smiled, gently patting Madara’s head as she passed by. “If only people closer to our age were like this, hmm, Tobirama-sama?”
Madara preened under the attention, tugging Tobirama closer and intertwining their fingers, much to the growing entertainment of the entire marketplace. Tobirama thanked every kami for his happuri, casually activating the seal on the side to cool his flaming skin.
If he let Hiruzen test his monkey summon on Madara later that day, no one would have to know (something that was more terrifying without the ability to use his sharingan anymore, having been sent back to an age where he did not have them).
Not that that stopped Madara from yelling at anyone that showed a smidgeon of too much interest in Tobirama to “get their own boyfriend”. ———————————————————
“Madara, you needn’t carry everything,” Tobirama sighed, watching fondly as the boy shifted the basket and bags about in his arms, stumbling along as they made their way back to Tobirama’s home. “I am perfectly capable of carrying my own groceries.”
It was only the fourth day of Madara’s stay and they’d run out of groceries again. Especially the few sweets he had bought just for Madara. Those were gone within moments.
Madara squawked suddenly, one leg tripping over the other, and went sprawling to the ground. With a quick shunshin, Tobirama dropped a scroll onto the dirt to catch all the groceries, letting his free hand shoot out to grab Madara and pull him upright. Straightening the young boy’s collar, he snatched up the now rolled scroll and tucked it into his pocket.
“Like I said, perfectly capable of carrying my groceries,” he drawled. Catching sight of Madara’s embarrassed pout— and oh, he made that exact expression as an adult too!— hair moving forward to hide his face again, Tobirama pushed the unruly strands back with an indulgent smile. “How about we get some dango?”
The word koibito hovered on the tip of his tongue but he bit it back. He was getting rather impatient waiting on this jutsu to let up.
He ignored the flicker of ire and almost-sadness, grinning as Madara’s face lit up. If anything, he was given quite the ideal opportunity to know his suitor. He could enjoy it while it lasted.
———————————————————
“Save me,” Mito snarled as soon as he and Madara stepped through the door. Her face was splotchy and she seemed less composed than ever. “Before I kill your brother.”
Tobirama blinked, eyes searching, landing on his brother sat in the corner and facing the wall. “Mito-nee—”
“Because Hashirama doesn’t realize being in his childhood body doesn’t mean he can act like a child. He keeps making messes and being too loud and, Hashirama if I hear you wailing one more time—”
“Breathe Aneue,” Tobirama held his hands up placatingly.
Mito heaved a breath, pushing her hair behind her ear before resting her hands on her belly. Her eyes were watering when she looked back at Tobirama. “We need to work on the jutsu Tobirama. I can't— with the Hokage duties and watching Hashirama and feeling sick all the time—”
Tobirama nodded. “Go sit, Aneue. Madara—”
“I can make you some tea, Mito-hime,” the boy said, bowing quickly and heading to the kitchen. “Ginger maybe? Or chamomile?”
Mito stared at him in wonderment. “How—I thought he’d be like Hashirama. I was sure of it. Has he been well-behaved this entire week?”
Tobirama smiled sheepishly. “More or less.” He frowned, sending a hard look to the boy all but wilted over himself. “Has Anija been giving you a lot of trouble?”
“Not really—” she glanced at the boy. “Hashirama, can you be a dear and help Madara in the kitchen please?”
Hashirama sprang from his seat, wiping his eyes and nodding hurriedly. “Of course Mito-!”
The rest of the sentence was lost as he scurried away.
“I just need my husband, Tobirama. Not this child who can’t keep his hands off my belly or food in his mouth. I— he’s not even being bad! Not really, just—”
“Overwhelming?”
Mito gave a small nod, looking horribly miserable.
“He was like that as a child. He only learned more restraint as an adult when he realized he kept accidentally hurting others in his enthusiasm,” Tobirama rolled his eyes, heart feeling a little too fond given the grievances his brother had put him through. Once, Hashirama had fractured his ribs with a hug. He’d hoped, however, that Hashirama would not fall back on childhood habits.
He should’ve seen it though— Madara had after all. The flailing, the quirky habits, threatening with fire— wait no, he did that as an adult— but everything else was so painstakingly innocent. Tobirama should’ve really kept a closer watch on Hashirama.
“I’ve been working on the jutsu, a little while longer and I believe I will be able to undo everything,” he reassured.
Mito sighed in relief, pulling Tobirama into a hug as best as she could around the swell of her stomach. Tobirama let her hold onto him for a few long moments, talking softly of the progress he made with the seals and making note of her suggestions, before coaxing her into the kitchen to eat.
And let Mito freeze, hiding his smile at her surprise. Dishes were neatly laid across the table, a cup of steaming tea covered with a small plate and placed by Mito’s seat. Madara grinned at them from beside the stove, turning at a pot.
“I’m making ramen! I know it’s nothing fancy but you seemed stressed and tired so I thought you might want something easier to eat so you can go rest sooner.”
Mito blinked. Settled herself into her seat and took a sip of her tea, humming appreciatively. “I didn’t even remember having those spices.”
“You didn’t,” Madara frowned. “I don’t know what the hell you two are eating but without these,” he gestured to the various small bottles he had set on the counter, “it can’t be anything good. I sent Hashi to Tobi’s. I made him buy these earlier.”
Hashirama grinned, swinging his feet from where he sat atop the counter. “See! I helped! I even set the table!”
He looked at Mito hopefully and she smiled. “Thank you Hashirama. Thank you Madara.”
Both boys beamed proudly though Madara quickly ducked behind his hair, adorably bashful. “It’s very simple. I hope you find it as pleasing as the effort.”
Mito smiled encouragingly, taking the pot from Madara and helping share it into the bowls. “I am certain it is delightful Madara.”
Madara blushed a bit brighter, settling quickly in front of his own bowl.
“Itadakimasu!”
Tobirama grinned, making sure to limit his own portion as he watched his brother’s and sister-in-law’s eyes open with surprise, noises of appreciation slipping past their lips as they dug in with a little more vigor than would be polite. Mito and Hashirama were sure to want seconds. Maybe even thirds.
Madara’s eyes darted to Tobirama’s bowl and he looked up with confusion, eyes silently asking if Tobirama were okay. Smiling gently, Tobirama glanced at their other two companions before dropping Madara a wink.
It was okay. He’d get Madara to cook for him later.
———————————————————
“I uh want to go look for berries at the river! From over there!” Madara called out awkwardly, shuffling from one foot to the other.
Hashirama looked up from the berries he and Tobirama were picking. He looked bemused for all of two seconds before his lips spread in a wicked grin that he hid behind his basket. “Okay!”
Tobirama, too busy separating the berries (and perhaps sneaking a few to eat) just nodded distractedly, only looking up when Hashirama stood up a few minutes later. “Anija?”
“Let’s go look at the river too, Tobi!”
Rolling his eyes, Tobirama let himself be pulled down the path Madara took, frowning when he heard something like a trickle of water when usually the river was silent during these times of low-tide. As they neared, he could just faintly make out Madara’s hair and, just before he could call out, watched Hashirama throw himself out of the bushes right behind the other boy.
Madara’s back went ramrod straight.
“Still can’t go when someone’s behind you?” Hashirama laughed loudly, finger pointing.
Madara whirled around just as Tobirama stepped through the bushes, face cherry red and mouth open to scream at Hashirama. Upon seeing Tobirama, he burned even redder, looking for all the world humiliated and betrayed as he hissed at Hashirama to shut up.
And suddenly so many other things made sense. Madara’s insistence to wait until Tobirama was far too distracted or not even in the house to use the restroom, mumbled excuses of needing privacy to go do something like clean or having to water plants of all things (“better for him to get the job done correctly”) keeping the bathroom door firmly locked even though Tobirama had not once known him to be body shy. Hell, just that morning Madara thought it appropriate to walk around the house with nothing but a small towel wrapped about his waist.
Madara was shy to use the bathroom around…anyone apparently. Tobirama bit back a laugh, frowning instead when he saw Madara hide more behind his hair, the tip of his nose reddening as he curled as much into himself as he could.
Tobirama could feel the headache coming. Why did he think agreeing to watch over both of them was a good idea? Oh right, so Mito could rest and Touka wouldn’t feel tempted to commit treason by killing one of the two brats. Especially given the fiasco that happened yesterday when Touka was in his shoes so he and Mito could work on the seal more.
He really was too kind for his own good.
“Anija!” Tobirama snapped. “Stop wasting time bothering Madara.”
“But Tobi—” Hashirama whined. “I—”
“We are going to pick berries at the river mouth—Madara already has this area covered.”
That would put them far off out each other’s sight so Madara could have his privacy and still be close enough for Tobirama to come if anything were to happen. He dragged his brother away without another word, missing the besotted and grateful look Madara shot him.
It wasn’t too long until Madara joined them again, flicking his hands through a much too familiar sign and setting the edge of Hashirama’s clothing on fire. Shrieking, Hashirama took off upstream before Tobirama could douse him with water, passing the place Madara had been and diving beneath the river surface.
“I suppose that was fair,” Tobirama mused. “I don’t think he got hurt at least.”
Madara scuffed the ground with his shoe, voice soft when he responded. “Yeah.”
“There’s no need to be embarrassed. While I’m certainly surprised your bladder cooperated with your discomfort in quite the opposite manner than I would have expected—”
The boy flushed deeper. “No! I um yeah that’s odd but I um, I actually have something for you!”
“Oh?” Tobirama raised a brow. “Did you get something you were with Touka?”
Madara shook his head, determinedly looking at his shoes. “No I, I meant to give this to you earlier but then,” he waved his hand about awkwardly. “-all of this happened instead.”
Tobirama squinted, nose wrinkled. “Before you do that, did you wash your hands?”
The Uchiha squawked. “Of course I did! I’m not your brother! Stupid Senju—!” He shoved a small box in Tobirama’s hands as he continued his tirade against the Senju Clan.
Ignoring him— Tobirama had gotten quite good at that even before they began courting— he opened the box carefully and stilled. Inside was a small chain with a circular tanzanite pendant, a silver dragon figurine curled around one edge, its tail curling up to connect the pendant to the chain, and a silver leopard figurine stretched along the opposite edge. Their eyes were little red gems, pyrope, and almost exactly the shape and shade of his eyes. The only difference was the trace of black cutting through the red, carving Madara’s mangekyou into the dragon’s eyes.
Tobirama felt his breath catch.
“Madara—”
“You like both those animals! And, and you said I'm— that having me around is like having you’re own personal dragon so I…” his voice fell to little over a whisper. “I had that made for you. So it’s like I’m always around, like we’re always together.”
And now Tobirama’s eyes were watering, happy tears, and wasn’t that an idea. After so much grief, after never once even humoring such an absurdity as crying happily like his brother, Tobirama was well on the verge of doing the same.
Falling to his knees, he pulled the Uchiha into his arms, habit leading him to tuck his face against Madara’s hair. “I find myself really wishing you weren’t a child right now.”
Madara stroked a hand through Tobi’s hair, returning the hug tightly with a disgruntled pout. “Me too. This is fucking annoying. I want to kiss your pretty face, damn. Why’s that so much to ask for?”
“What!”
Hashirama stood gaping behind them, horror and anger twisting his features. “You’re dating my brother?”
“Anija—” Tobirama sighed, hand going right for the bridge of his nose.
“No!” Hashirama yelled, stomping his foot, childishly if not for the Mokuton poking through the dirt. “No, you don’t get to say anything! You were supposed to tell me before— don’t bother explaining or, or giving excuses now! I forbid it!”
Tobirama reeled back in shock. Not once, not even in the worse of Hashirama’s anger, had he ever tried to silence Tobirama.
“What?" Madara growled. "You what?”
Hashirama snarled. “I forbid you from dating my brother.”
The plants and grass were growing, leaves and stems thickening, hardening, and coiling up towards Madara.
“You can’t do that!”
“I can! And I will! I know you! I know your habits—”
“My habits?”
“All that damn time— you can’t handle a long-term relationship! And I’m not letting you use my brother, you backstabbing—” Hashirama was shaking with rage. “You, you bastard!”
With a yell, he lunged towards Madara recklessly only to be thrown over the Uchiha’s shoulder. Madara kneeled onto Hashirama’s chest, wrapping a hand around his throat, body also trembling with fury.
Tobirama moved to separate them, hands grabbing at Madara’s shoulders.
“I love him!” Madara yelled. “I love him! And you don’t get a damn say in any of it!”
Hashirama stopped clawing at Madara’s hands and Tobirama’s own hands went slack. Madara spun to look at him, sharingan burning in his eyes. Something like desperation seemed to spin in the commas.
“You hear me? I love you.”
Perhaps with the best timing ever, the air filled with smoke, startling them all apart. Tobirama covered his eyes as a bright light danced between the wisps and tossed the scroll he’d kept packed with Hashirama’s and Madara’s clothes into the fog, right at the red eyes looking back at him. When it dissipated, a Madara, an adult Madara (thankfully somewhst properly dressed) was standing there, sharingan still spinning in his eyes as he stared at Tobirama. No words passed before the two men pressed their lips together, hands tangling in each other’s hair. Something wet trickled down their cheeks and Tobirama couldn’t tell if the tears were coming from his eyes or Madara’s.
“I love you, I love you,” Madara whispered between kisses. And Tobirama nodded as of to answer some unspoken question.
“You love him?” Hashirama whispered, eyes flooding with tears. He tugged a haori over his shoulders. “You love my baby brother? You’re not just— Oh. Oh Madara I thought you were— oh I’m so happy!”
They weren’t paying attention to Hashirama’s babbling though, too transfixed and overly emotional at the admission of a confession they had been denying themselves.
“I’ve missed you,” Tobirama murmured, pressing his forehead against Madara’s. “Don’t ever go in my lab without me again.”
Madara laughed shakily. “Never. I’m never going anywhere without you ever again."
———————————————————
Omake:
Hashirama wailed, squirming against the chains and seals in vain to get away as Madara used his kama to shear his long brown locks down to the base of his scalp.
"I told you I’d chop your hair off, bastard!” Madara cackled. “Now stay still before I accidentally take your head off!”
“I can’t believe you disguised yourself as Mito!” Hashirama sobbed. “I can’t believe she and Tobirama helped you! Traitors!”
Madara just laughed louder and continued hacking at Hashirama’s hair.
