#no i don't like female singers

I just listened to a couple songs from current female artists who... all sound the same. Like they've all got that one particular kind of breathy pretty flawless voice. The way 90% of female singers seem to sound nowadays. It drives me bonkers. The only good thing about it is that it makes me feel like, "well, I may not have a very professionally-trained-sounding voice, but thank god I don't sound like THEM at least".

30 DAYS MUSIC CHALLENGE: 2024 edition by @x--daughters-of-darkness--x
Day 3: A favorite song with a person’s name in the title -> Nightwish: Amaranth
Does "Amaranth" count as a person's name? I am going to say it does as I have been using it as pseudo for years now. What can I say, it is both one of my favorite Nightwish songs and one of my favorite songs ever. I also have a very soft spot for Dark Passion Play as it's the one album that got me into Nightwish, so... gotta honor the song that got me hooked <3.

Trying to find good goth rock for my playlist is such a challenge. Because instrumentals are almost always wonderful - that's what I like this genre for. So I hear the beginning of the song, I'm all hyped up, but then there comes the singing part and ruins everything.

How is someone insecure by saying her fans thing Meghan is better than anybody else because it’s literally true
You guys aren't doing anything to prove you're not insecure. Now I just think you and the other anon need therapy (if you're not just the same person).
"I hate Taylor Swift, she and her fans think she's a better singer than everyone else."
You see how delusional that sounds, right? Right?

just read a tweet from a popular twitter scientist about how as he got out of his car at a park a few kids started making fun of him for playing t4ylor sw!ft and he like dunked on them (in the tweet not irl at the kids) being like "shouldn't they be in school failing rn" and it's like 1 sw!fties stop acting so damn butthurt 2 do you really feel like you won the situation by telling some random kids who laughed at you to go fail school (AS SOMEONE IN ACADEMIA??) behind their backs and 3 it's still mid august they're not supposed to be in school doc
and sure if some kids made fun of me for listening to classical music in public i'd be like "whatever dumb kids" in my head about it but i would not snarkily complain about it to my 12,000 followers

do you ever just go to a kdrama meetups and events irl (they are hard to come by) and the people there talk about that they isn’t enough strong female characters and you are just sitting there going all ????? because a). you can easily do a week worth of dedicated posts about some of the amazing female characters in kdramas and their complexity despite how often their genres and the society they are written for wants to put them in a box on your blog. But also b). you hate the term ‘strong female character’ because we never talk about male characters that way. They are just interesting or not. And that’s also what female characters should be. Interesting and complex with agency in stories. And they often get sidelined in the stories... but also from the largely female audience of those shows who don’t really care as much about them as the hot male lead. And there is such a strong need for female characters to be likeable no matter what which can hinder them from truly being too complex, while we can watch the same asshole architype in male characters but are just misunderstood and interesting.
also as a writer who has been told more than once that a female character of mine is just not likeable enough and I should fix that, this annoys me. Fuck strong female characters, that does not make them interesting and being stoic  instead of emotional isn't necessarily better, and fuck making all female characters so likeable that they can't do anything. Make them complex, flawed and unlikeable, even if it makes the audience agitated because the female character isn't likeable or sidelined for the sake of everyone's else’s stories or so the audience can insert themselves into them, as a blank slate.
The writer can lay the groundwork for why the female character is acting the way she is, but the audience will complain that she is being mean to the cute male lead. It’s a bit more complex and complicated than just ‘kdramas don’t have enough strong characters’ that needs to be examined. Like the bias of the audience and the expectations that the wants of the audience have molded over the years.
But you don’t say anything, because you are non-confrontational and don’t want to speak over the people who are actually speaking and this level of public speaking makes you anxious.

put too much time today into thinking about hormones and a bunch of other stuff including vocal pitch mostly to just reaffirm my gut instinct which is that windowverse Kaine probably sounds like Shohreh Agdashloo but w/ a Queens accent and that Peter, yeah, he has the same vocal pitch as Andrew Garfield—
this is not just because I like TASM (i mean it's related) but because specifically one of the notes I have in windowverse Peter's visual design is his long neck w/ prominent adam's apple and overall lanky build and height being pretty similar to AG's so like... yeah he has a similar vocal range... but also was just listening to an interview game to double-check that reference actually matches what I had decided, which is "Peter has a wide speaking vocal range which can go fairly low but also fairly high" and yup, bro speaks with a prominent vocal fry and can go into much higher pitches at the drop of a hat so that's exactly what I was looking for lol
anyway that for Peter and Ben, compared w/ Kaine more reffing Agdashloo who has a very restricted, very gravelly, very deep voice (which apparently is super polarizing on reddit) (huge shock (sarcasm) but haters can die mad about it, i love her voice)
I actually have other voice notes specifically wrt to accent as well as voice tone, which is that I noted for Peter, he probably shares some similarities with especially young Alan Arkin, but also Adrien Brody and... uh... Christopher Walken a little bit 😂 (more for uncle ben though, but uncle ben is also much more of a peter falk in my head for like, obvious reasons as far as "brain linking together similar-looking old jewish men with (in au) glasses" even though he was from the bronx rather than queens of course) (my main exposure to peter falk has been the princess bride, not columbo lol)
other characters include reed (who is, in the au, a butch woman, as some may already be aware of) being a kind of mix of lauren bacall, cary grant, sally kellerman, with a low and crisp semi-natural midatlantic pattern in general. also yes if you don't know, i'm here to say that when i imagine regular comic book reed richards speaking i do just imagine a mid-century mid-atlantic radio host voice 😂😂😂 it just feels right lmao especially when reading silver age fantastic four comics, so it stuck in my head (i do like ioan gruffudd a lot as a casting choice though)
norman more in the realm of jack cassidy, david rockefeller, alexander scourby, etc... esp jack cassidy a la... also columbo lol
that's all i have. i mean i have a very specific way flash sounds in my head but i don't know an actor to reference for that. one of the american male voices in XCOM 2 is shockingly close to it though.

Honestly if I couldn't listen to musicians that successfully sing in higher octaves (i.e., many female singers) or to songs with unique beats because it triggered the fuck out of my sensory overload I would just lay down and die. That's not to say people who fall into this category should do so, this is just how I feel for me specifically, cuz I cannot fathom a world where like, Whitney Houston music sends me into a meltdown. I just genuinely feel so fucking bad for people like that because that just sounds so miserable lol. Imagine being unable to listen to like a big chunk of musicians because your brain just fucking hates you, Jesus dude. My deepest condolences to anyone that experiences that cuz you probably experience brutal sensory overload with other stuff, too
