Destination Eurovision 2019: Second Semi-Final
Tumblr media
I’m getting so stoked about Eurovision this year, haha! Without further ado, here’s an overview of the second Semi-Final from last night.
The show opened with a special guest performance from last year’s Eurovision winner Netta Barzilai. Video
Tumblr media
1. Gabriella / On cherche encore (Never Get Enough)
Tumblr media
I loved it! Fresh sound, nice voice, lively rhythm, quirky use of a violin – you had my vote, sweetie! Video
2. The Divaz / La voix d’Aretha
Tumblr media
A strong song and a crowd pleaser, homage to Aretha Franklin. I’d personally prefer a more contemporary song such as Gabriella’s or Silvàn Areg’s from last week, but it would certainly appeal to an international audience. Video
3. Ugo / Ce qui me blesse
Tumblr media
Emo guy crying about his girlfriend dumping him. Thanks, I’ll pass. Video
4. Tracy de Sà / Por aquí
Tumblr media
A hip-hop/rap song blending French, English and Spanish lyrics. I always love a mix of languages, and dark-haired Usagi delivered. Probably more of a nightclub song than Eurovision though. Video
5. Emmanuel Moire / La promesse
Tumblr media
Like Chimène Badi last week, Emmanuel Moire was a strong favorite due to his status as a popular singer (he starred in the musical Le Roi Soleil in the mid 00s and released several solo albums since). If I do appreciate the gay affirmation stance I’m less onboard with the on-stage strip-tease, although I’m sure a lot of people would disagree! Video
6. Noémie / Ma petite famille
Tumblr media
(Couldn’t find a screenshot from the live show, bleh)
A cute song featuring only vocals and drums, maybe not up to par with some of the other contestants. Video
7. Seemone / Tous les deux
Tumblr media
A nice throaty voice and an emotional performance that took everyone by surprise. Personally I feel that the hype is a bit overrated, but it could be a hit with international audience in a way similar to Salvador Sobral in 2017. Video
8. Doutson / Sois un bon fils
Tumblr media
After Seemone’s song to her father, here’s one from a son to her mother. Points for the staging which involved a kid mouthing the lyrics along with the singer. The song itself wasn’t bad but nothing really special, it’s the kind of song you can hear on the radio. Video
9. PhilipElise / Madame la paix
Tumblr media
A fun little song reminiscent of ferias (summer festivals in southern towns) but I’m really not sure what it’s going for *scratches head*. Video
The four contestants who made it to the final round are Seemone (a huge surprise, she won full marks from all five members of the international jury, and second place from audience votes), Emmanuel Moire, The Divaz, and Doutson. I do regret that Gabriella didn’t make it to the Final but, hey, the choice is gonna be tough enough as it is!

TUNE IN NEXT WEEK FOR THE FINAL!

Salvador Sobral - “Amar Pelos Dois” Winner
youtube
Oh snap! “How dare you boot Salvador this early, you monster!!” um i think he’s just fine, chill out?
I used to be fully on board the Salvador Speedboat, but sadly, he tarnished himself in my eyes by delivering one of the most self-serving, pompous winner speeches ever. “MUSIC ISN’T FIREWORKS, MUSIC IS EMOTION, THIS IS A VICTORY FOR ALL MUSIC” is a pretty rich statement coming from someone who was a blatant camera-mugger,
Tumblr media
a provocateur pur sang,
Tumblr media
and just in general took the mickey at this contest;
youtube
Like, all of the above moments are AWESOME but please do not insult our intelligence by pretending as if these didn’t definitely, DEFINITELY aid you in achieving that landslide win. Yes, Salvador, TELL us more about how you saved the face of Real Music [citation needed] or invented jazz, BECAUSE YOU DIDN’T YOU BLOWHARD TWAT :@
(but thanks for calling out the Demys and Robsaiahs anyway because god was it necessary).
Fortunately though, in spite of all the self-righteous hypocrisy, i’m mostly here for Salvador’s journey as it truly fascinates me.  Yeah, sure, I just YELLED at the man but I actually respect his role as enfant terrible quite a bit and even if you dislike “Amar Pelos Dois”, I feel like you should too.
How DOES one transform a hipster, extremely non-conformist entry such as “Amar Pelos Dois” into the most universally beloved Eurovision song of this decade exactly?
Well, children, it’s time to delve DEEPLY into how this contest truly fuctions and how Portugal managed to exploit one of the biggest, but most overlooked Eurovision loopholes.
Tumblr media
I hope you’re ready because this write-up will be LONG.
To truly understand why Salvador won, we must first understand what he represents. Ask any casual eurofan what they think of Salvador and chances are they’re going to answer with finding him “genuine and heartfelt” if they’re a fan and “a con artist” if they’re not. Both ideas seem mutually exclusive but are in fact the two halves of the whole. The Yin and the Yang, if you will.
You see, Salvador’s entire mantra was indeed that he was “genuine” and free of all the frolics the other entries dabbled in. His act was just the song, bare and plain. By presenting “Amar Pelos Dois” intimately and keeping the tics to a minimum, Salvador managed to cast a mind-controlling spell over all of Europe, dismantling the language barrier and taking it home for Portugal.
Tumblr media
The lusophone liberator
There is however a strong element of crafty subterfuge involved and no, I’m not talking about the tics. Salvador is a jazz singer and Jazz singers are weird by default; they have honky voices (evidenced by other ESC alumni who sang jazz in their early musical carreers, such as Jamala and Jana Burceska) and often improvize. Jazz Improv is virtually unheard of in our Eurovision bubble, but it’s a common performance method within the jazz circuit. This is why Salvador mimes, switches his voice’s pitch around, plays an air violin. It’s all part of the heat of the moment. There’s nothing overtly fake about this at all.
Tumblr media
HOWEVER, by deliberately presenting yourself as guileless and then using seemingly gimmickless emotion AS YOUR MAIN STRATAGEM... that, my friends, is an A+ example of artifice. Salvador is not phony in SPITE of the emotion, but BECAUSE of it.
Naturally, this exploits a huge flaw within the system and not the one about “fastfood & borrowed music” (though that one should be addressed too imo). Why did “Amar Pelos Dois” win? Because of the song? Paradoxically, I don’t think the song itself  ever mattered. “Amar Pelos Dois” didn’t win because of *what* it is, but because of what it *is*.
Tumblr media
In other words, Eurovision is evolving into something bigger than just a song contest. Songs aren’t by themselves winning anymore, despite Salvador’s victory signalling otherwise..Instead, concepts win and the country which executes an attractive concept the BEST during those three minutes, takes it home.
Ergo, “Real Music” won  in Eurovision 2017 but not in the way Salvador claims it did. He won because he successfully MARKETED his song as “real music” so everyone believed him and voted for him, juror and televoter alike.
What about other years? If we count back to the past three years, did ANY of Conchita, Mans or Jamala win because of their song... or because of what their songs represented at the time? This may sound bleak, but I actually don’t think it’s bad. It means that yes, a bad song could theoretically win for what it represents. However, in practice we find that a good performance IS key because without one you can’t ever sell it properly.  All of this actually makes me love “Amar Pelos Dois” more than I normally would have because this is the VERY first time I felt a country acknowledges this tactic and deliberately uses it to win. and It’s Portugal, OF ALL COUNTRIES.
I love how a bullied, unfairly maligned country like Portugal managed to troll all of Europe without them realizing it. <3
I love how Salvador spent every day in Kyiv mocking the SHIT out of the contest and was rewarded for it <3
I love how they -through sheer lack of gimmicks- managed to produce the gimmickest winner this contest has ever seen. <3
I love how they produced the biggest blowout winner this contest has seen since the early 80s. <3
I also love the woman, the legend, the CHIN that is Salvador’s sister Luisa, who owns one of my fave singing voices this year and got to share the limelight with Salvador during the winner’s reprisal, as she very much deserved!!
youtube
Finally, I love how this year has ended as a huge Portugese middlefinger against Europe for screwing them over for years and years and motherfucking YEARS and then managed to figure out the EXACT way to circumvent the language barrier and slay all opposition. It truly and finally establishes that any country is capable of winning. See you in Bern or Vilnius next year! (jk, it’ll probably be Saint Petersburg if the Only Returnees Win pattern keeps up. SAVE US, BOSNIA!!!)

2017 Eurovision Thoughts: Autistic Winner?
So eurovision has been a special interest of mine for a while, though most notably this year and last. Another special interest of mine though, is a topic which includes autism. This year eurovision managed to connect the two.
The winning song this year is Amar Pelos Dois, a song representing portugal, sung by Salvador Sobral. My original impression of the song was that it was better than most of the submitted songs, but that other songs caught my immediate attention more solidly first. This was of course, nearly two months ago. As I continued to listen to all of the songs, my opinions matured as I processed more of them all. With this, my opinion of Amar Pelos Dois grew to exist, and existed more and more favorably to the song. When videos of the dress rehearsals leading up to the semifinal 1 were posted, I realized it was in my top favorites. While Salvador was singing it in the semi final, I realized it was my favorite of the semi final 1 and possibly of them all.
The relevance of my interest in autism is more to do with Salvador than it does to the contest. A video of his winning performance at Festival da Canção 2017 was also made to be the official music video for it on the Eurovision Youtube. Upon seeing this, I had the immediate feeling that he’s autistic. I didn’t share my thoughts though, because he’s a real person who I have no way of saying for sure if he’s autistic if all I have is intuition.
I saw him hold his hands up at his chest.
I saw him stim with the music. (with his hands, with his voice, with his body)
I saw him outwardly show the song’s emotion in a vestibular stimmy way
I heard him hum with the string instrument while he waited for his cue to sing.
I saw him come off as very genuine in his performance and delivery
So when in an interview he specifically said that he imitates sounds, I immediately thought of echolalia.
In the final rehearsal, he performed the song very freely, in a way that strikes me as relating to autism though I can’t articulate why.
He’s also in interviews said himself to be very humanitarian. He actually went to break a sort of rule in eurovision against politics in the contest. When he arrived at the location, he wore a shirt to raise awareness for refugees. The contest made him stop wearing it for the following days.
When he won the final, he spoke a bit about his feelings on music and the way he feels that music has had less emotional content as it becomes more controlled by industry. He spoke about this, and how he hopes his song winning can be an influence to bring change to what music is produced so maybe songs with more feeling will be more common. At least that was the impression I got. However in the fashion of an autistic person who’s just been in a busy event with a lot going on for many hours for the past week, his wording was a bit un-ideal for the social context.
You can judge it for yourself, but online I’ve seen people complain about him being pretentious or a hipster or as bashing everyone who lost. And in some sense sure, some of the songs competing fit into that category of fireworks. However his delivery of those words seem out of sync with that emphasis, and much more in line with the more positive message of a hope for music made to capture emotions to become more common.
Oh, also during the voting, each time the camera showed him when a country gave him 12 points, he was being generally silly. During one instance he was holding a drumstick in his mouth completely flat face. Shortly after, he was drumming around on the table with the two drumsticks, more outwardly involved in doing that, than in receiving Switzerland’s 12 points. Right after The Netherlands gives him 12 points, and he’s hiding behind his sister, offering his shoe to the camera instead.
I don’t know how he was experiencing the contest, but I wouldn’t be surprised of it was long and overwhelming to process.
EDIT: I’m watching the winners press conference, and he straight up echo’d the facilitator saying “the lady in yellow” Other stuff too, this is super good. He feels so strongly about things and he has ideas of what he wants, and what feelings are.
Anyway, this year’s ESC winner Salvador Sobral is probably autistic, and that notion excites me.

esc 2016 vs 2017 (ya’ll this is just my opinion so don’t attack me on this)
Albania: Fairytale vs World
I don’t really have any strong feelings toward either, but I’ll have to go with World with the sole reason being Fairytale’s atrocious “and that’s why i love youuuuuuuu oh oh” chorus.
Armenia: LoveWave vs Fly with Me
I didn’t like LoveWave the first time I heard it, but it really grew on me especially after seeing that explosive live performance. Fly with Me though is something i’ve never heard before and I feel it will improve even more for the live stage.
Australia: Sound of Silence vs Don’t Come Easy
I wasn’t too fond of Sound of Silence because I found it a bit repetitive and really just wasn’t my cup of tea, but it does feel more sincere than Don’t Come Easy.
Austria: Loin d’ici vs Running on Air
Loin d’ici is really cute and it’s unique, the French is just an incentive. Running on Air is alright but that’s it.
Azerbaijan: Miracle vs Skeletons
I liked the studio recording of Miracle but the live performance really fell flat. Skeletons stands out among all the songs this year, it’s the only one of its kind. It’s cool and contemporary and it HITS HARD. I really hope it does well.
Belarus: Help you Fly vs Historyja majgo zyccia
Help You Fly is also a song that i hated at first but grew to like. Historyja majgo zyccia was one of the earlier released songs and for a while it was my number one pick. It’s a feel good song, and it’s the only folk-sounding song this year.
Belgium: What’s the Pressure vs City Lights
What’s the Pressure is best when performed live and that’s a rare thing but Laura Tesoro is just so charismatic. I Like the former but City Lights just seems more like something I would listen to on a regular basis outside of Eurovision. It’s very London Grammar (which I love). Also, it’s my winning pick.
Bulgaria: If Love Was a Crime vs Beautiful Mess
If Love Was a Crime is A BOP. Whenever it comes on, you can’t just stay put. I always find myself singing that “ooh dai mi lubve ta” (i butchered that) hook even if I have no idea what it means. Beautiful Mess is alright I guess.
Croatia: Lighthouse vs My Friend
I absolutely hated My Friend the moment I heard it. The lyrics sound like someone just searched “inspirational quotes” online. I don’t hate it as much anymore but still…Lighthouse is a great song. There is no contest.
Cyprus: Alter Ego vs Gravity
I like Alter Ego’s pop-rock thing it has going on over Gravity’s dance-rock vibe. Gravity is good but I just like the former more.
Czechia: I Stand vs My Turn
My Turn is a pretty song and it’s sung well but I Stand was one of my favorites last year and was probably my favorite ballad that year too. On a completely unrelated note, I kind of had (have) a small-maybe-sort-of-major crush on Gabriela Gunčíková.
Denmark: Soldiers of Love vs Where I Am
Where I Am is alright, but I preferred Anja Nissen’s national final entry Never Alone from last year which I think was much more superior than Soldiers of Love. It’s fine I guess.
Estonia: Play vs Verona
Play is a great song and it’s especially different. But I don’t think it really translated well to the live performance. Verona has a nice catchy melody but some of the lyrics just throw me off.
Finland: Sing it away vs Blackbird
I don’t have any strong opinions toward either so I guess I’ll go with Blackbird because it seems more like my taste.
France: J’ai cherché vs Requiem
I believe J’ai cherché is one of the best songs France has sent in the recent years. Requiem is pretty and will probably do well but Amir just really sold that “Youuuuuuuuu” hook.
Georgia: Midnight Gold vs Keep the Faith
I’m probably in the minority when I say that Midnight Gold was one of my favorite entries from last year and I was so glad it got through to the grand final. And THAT STAGING just elevated it further. It was so so very un-eurovision. Keep the Faith on the other hand is just SO eurovision.
Germany: Ghost vs Perfect Life
Both aren’t terrible but they aren’t great either. I will always be bitter about 2015′s Black Smoke that came in last place which is my favorite German entry (even over the 2010 winner Satellite). I’ll have to go with Ghost though because of Perfect Life’s ehhhh lyrics (and the fact that the verse sounds like Titanium).
Greece: Utopian Land vs This is Love
I cringe every time I hear This is Love. It’s such a generic pop song with a mediocre melody, a mediocre hook, and mediocre lyrics. Btw, just a note: when your lyrics are as bad as “This is Love. Reaching out for the stars. Everywhere this is love”, it’s probably best not to flash the lyrics on the music video. Utopian Land at least tries to do something new.
Hungary: Pioneer vs Origo
Pioneer is good but I think Origo is just a masterpiece. It has the perfect blend of modern and traditional. This song is in my top three. I just hope it gets to the grand final.
Iceland: Hear Them Calling vs Paper
Hear Them Calling is the reason I postponed watching last year’s grand final for months. I was so bitter that it wasn’t voted through. I really felt like it ticked every box to be a winner.  Catchy melody, AMAZING staging, and most important of all, it was SO Icelandic (if that makes any sense). It was my number one pick and I really believed it had a chance of winning. So yeah, I was bitter, which is why I was expecting a lot from Iceland this year. Paper disappointed me especially with the chorus, but to be fair, Here Them Calling was really just something else.
Ireland: Sunlight vs Dying to Try
I was really expecting a lot when Westlife’s Nicky Byrne was announced as the entry but Sunglight fell flat in every way. Dying to Try isn’t amazing but I think Brendan’s voice will make it stand out at least.
Israel: Made of Stars vs I Feel Alive
I hate I Feel Alive. My complaints for this song are the same as Greece’s This is Love. Made of Stars is a very impactful ballad. It’s a great song, there’s no comparison.
Italy: No Degree of Separation vs Occidentali’s Karma
Look, Occidentali’s Karma could probably be this year’s winner, and No Degree of Separation’s live performance was…awkward. But I really loved the former’s studio recording and I still listen to it now, so that’s just my reasoning for this one.
Latvia: Heartbeat vs Line
Heartbeat is a contemporary and cool dance track. Line is a dated and repetitive dance track.
Lithuania: I’ve Been Waiting For This Night vs Rain of Revolution
Ok so this is probably causing some head-scratching, the former is fine, it’s just not my type of music. I just really like the backing track of Rain of Revolution (it’s quite dark but funky at the same time), which leads me to believe that the song is actually a great song with a unique melody. I really feel like with some (ok, A LOT) of polishing with the vocals, this could really be something cool and powerful.
Macedonia: Dona vs Dance Alone
When Kaliopi was announced I was excited for another legendary performance like what she did in 2012, but Dona fell flat. Macedonia has never really released anything that’s made me go “that’s a winner”, but that ended with Dance Alone. I think it is the superior dance track of this year by far. I just don’t see a world wherein this will not do well. This is in my top three.
Malta: Walk on Water vs Breathlessly
Walk on Water is a good song I feel like its live performance was just a bit forgettable. Breathlessly is alright but the song itself is already forgettable.
Moldova: Falling Stars vs Hey, Mamma!
I hated Falling Stars at first but Lidia Isac just kept improving. Last year was a pretty serious competition, so it was nice that she decided to add a little fun with her breakdancing astronaut. Speaking of fun Hey Mamma! is just that entirely. Epic Sax Guy returns!
Montenegro: The Real Thing vs Space
I would have gone with Space because the chorus is quite catchy, but the verse just makes me go hmmmmmm. The Real Thing is a confusing song but damn that staging really made up for it.
Netherlands: Slow down vs Lights and Shadows
2014′s Calm After the Storm is one of my favorite songs EVER, and so I just had such high expectations for The Netherlands. 2015 disappointed me to say the least, but 2016 brought back what I loved about 2014 with Slow Down. It was just so “it’s own thing”. It didn’t care about the contest, it just came to have a good time. Plus, Douwe Bob’s voice was probably the best male voice of that year. Lights and Shadows isn’t bad, it’s just not my style.
Norway: Icebreaker vs Grab the Moment
Nothing will ever beat 2015′s A Monster Like Me. I really feel like with better staging, it really could’ve been a possible winner. 2014′s Silent Storm was very strong too. Icebreaker and Grab the Moment just don’t compare. I picked the former because I’m intrigued by the daring tempo switch. I’m thrown off by Grab the Moment because I just don’t feel like that lyric “I’m gonna grab the moment” suits the vibe of what the backing track is going for.
Poland: Color of Your Life vs Flashlight
I don’t really like either. Flashlight I feel is trying to be a dark and brooding song but something about it just doesn’t quite get there. I pick Color of Your Life because there’s more emotion in the vocals in where the latter is lacking.
Portugal: Há um mar que nos separa vs Amar pelos dois
Há um mar que nos separ had a cool sounding verse but the chorus turned into a generic 2005-era pop-rock song. Meanwhile, Amar pelos dois is timeless. I can imagine it being played in a film. Salvador Sobral has one of the most beautiful voices I’ve ever heard. His stage presence is so quirky and it makes him so likeable. It’s one of my favorites this year, i just hope people vote for it.
Romania: Moment of Silence vs Yodel It!
Moment of Silence was certainly dramatic, from the song itself to the controversy of disqualification. I prefer Yodel It!’s lighthearted feel. The pop/rap/yodeling make it really a mess of a song but It’s going to be fun to watch without a doubt.
Russia: You Are the Only One vs Flame Is Burning
Unpopular Opinion time (don’t kill me for this), but I never got the hype for You Are the Only One. I just thought it sounded so dated. And the lyrics? “My love is rising, the story’s unwinding. Together we’ll make it and reach for the stars”? It makes no sense. But one thing it has going on for it over Flame is Burning? It’s catchy as hell.
San Marino: I Didn’t Know vs Spirit of the Night
I was really hoping San Marino was going to send Serhat barefoot with a monocle singing I Didn’t Know as a ballad. That really would have been legendary. But alas, we can’t have everything. Spirit of the Night does sound a bit dated but what’s different about it is that it’s fun and it doesn’t take itself too seriously. Plus, it’s the return of Eurovision Queen, Valentina Monetta!
Serbia: Shelter vs In Too Deep
Both are good, but I like that Shelter incorporated traditional instruments. It just sounded like a more unique song. But like I said, In Too Deep is still a good song and will most probably qualify this year.
Slovenia: Blue and Red vs On My Way
I really thought Slovenia was getting somewhere with 2015′s Here For You (which I still listen to btw), but On My Way is just terrible. It’s currently at the very bottom of my list. Blue and Red isn’t great but it’s without a doubt the better song.
Spain: Say Yay! vs Do It for Your Lover
The first time I heard Do it For Your Lover, it was just in one of those recap videos on youtube, so I just heard the repetitive chorus, and hated it. After hearing the whole song, it did eventually grow on me a bit. Having said that, Say Yay! is just miles ahead (ignoring that lackluster live performance of course).
Sweden: If I Were Sorry vs I Can’t Go On
Both are good, and I was really going back and forth on this. I eventually decided to go with I Can’t Go On for the sole reason that there were more songs in Melfest 2016 that I liked better than If I Were Sorry. (I hope Ace Wilder finally gets her shot next year. She’s just so fun)
Switzerland: Last of Our Kind vs Apollo
I really loved Last of Our Kind as a song, and I really wish the live performance wasn’t what it was. Rykka has other songs and she really goes dark and it’s quite beautiful. I just don’t understand why she didn’t do the same with her Eurovision performance. Apollo is a typical pop song but I believe it’s a typical pop song done at the highest quality.
Ukraine: 1944 vs Time
I guess I’m also in the minority that believes that 1944 really deserved its win last year. It wasn’t my winner at first, but given the other numbers that were in the running to win the whole thing, I’m glad it did. It was in a league of its own. Time is alright, but the verse is better than the chorus. I think it will stand out this year though given that it’s the only rock song.
United Kingdom: You’re Not Alone vs Never Give Up on You
Both are fine, but I don’t have strong feelings for either. Never Give Up on You is nice. You’re Not Alone is fun, but it just isn’t my taste. I’m sorry but I will always be bitter about 2014′s Children of the Universe not doing as well as it deserved to.

From a press conference in Kiev, probably talking about "fast food" disposable music @salvadorsobral.music Congrats on your victory, I really like your song and the way you sing it, but I think your speech after winning the ESC was below the level of a true winner. "Fast food" pop music can be the best thing in the world at the right place and time, so can a song beautiful as yours. There is room for everyone. To all my new friends from all over Europe, hope to see you again soon❤ Had a blast and the experience of a lifetime #celebratediversity #esc2017

A gorilla, a horses head and a bare bum: Eurovision 2017
One song filled extravaganza that shows off unity, peace and some really, really, REALLY bad outfits from across Europe and beyond. Now, I like Eurovision. Something about the mix of bringing a continent together and the utter wonderful chaos of bright lights and ridiculous bombastic spectacle call to me. Now, congratulations to Portugal and Salvador Sobral. Personally, didn't really like the song too much, but it's nice to see a winner that's not your average pop song, and his antics did make me laugh at times. Weirder/ funnier parts of the night included Azerbaijans performance including a man wearing a horses head on a ladder, a dancing Italian gorilla, Armenia and Greece turning into Avatar: the last airbender with fire and water benders respectively. The tag line 'celebrate diversity' ended up being a joke when the hosts were 3 white men, wonderful diversity that. Oh, and a man draped in the Australian flag jumped on stage with last years winner and flashed his ass. Yup, I ain't joking. Okay brace yourselves, bitter Jon's here. I felt that us (that's the UK) were a bit hard done to. I mean, come on guys, we actually came up with a good song! We did screw half of you over by leaving the EU, so I guess we deserved it. Also, I'm evidently out of touch with music tastes (not surprising) but a few acts I thought were pretty poor did really well. Now, this just my own opinion. Bulgaria didn't really spark much for me, or Hungary. Belgium was the one that really got me. Performance and song I thought was dull, but hey, I am no music critic (probably a good thing). But a great night of entertainment all round and I cannot wait until Portugal next year! Btw, all people feel free to tell how wrong my music taste is! Obrigado!
