billie eilish was indubitably the most gorgeous girl you’d ever seen. with the perfect balance of masculine and feminine energy, the perfect balance of cocky and humble, it was hard not to fall for her. you’d known since the moment the two of you became friends that you liked her in a more than just friends way. nothing had happened between the two of you until a couple months back, and when she publicly came out, she also revealed your relationship to the world.

people had known about your friendship, her posting you frequently on her story. people always replied, saying you guys were goals, your contrast being perfect. see, while billie opted for baggy clothes and a hat, you always leaned towards a tank top and a mini skirt, or a nice dress. you always stood out by her side, especially when you wore pink, which was usually. whether it was a pink purse or some detailing on your clothes, you always had it on. you loved the support you got from her fans. they were a light amongst all the hate you received as well.

so, when billie posted a photo of you two kissing, and then when she took you to the grammy’s as her date, you expected more support than what you’d got. besides the blatant homophobia, your dissimilarity had gone from something that made you “goals” to something that got in the way of dating. you received many messages saying things like “what do they even have to talk abt?” or “they literally have nothing in common, this has to be pr.”

you focused your energy on ignoring the comments, taking moments to appreciate the supportive fans who seemed overjoyed with the announcement. when the hate seemed to slow down, billie posted you again. this time, the two of you were matching, both of you in pink tshirts. billie’s shirt was baggy and paired well with her jeans, while yours was a tighter fitting tank paired with a jean skirt. despite all the positivity, new hate comments were coming in. people accused you of trying to turn her into you, saying you were taking away from her style. this was only on one end of the scale, your dms had become flooded with death threats too.

it started to become a lot. you started to pull away from billie a little, taking a little longer to answer her messages, making excuses to not see her, avoiding being in any photos she took. you couldn’t avoid her forever, though. billie wasn’t stupid. being new to the relationship meant you were both afraid to have serious discussions, worried about how it would turn out. on your side, you were scared that billie would think you were stupid or weak for letting the haters get to you. on her side, she was scared to ask what was wrong, worried that you’d either fallen out of love with her or that she’d push you too far.

the last straw was when you finally made plans with her to go get food. she stopped in your driveway, knowing you were probably strapping your heels or running back for your keys that were adorned with a pink bow, and pulled out her phone. she didn’t even realize when you’d walked out of the house until you pulled open the car door. she looked up at you, smiling, until she took in your outfit. you were in simple jeans with a black long sleeve, basic shoes, your hair down, and no makeup. there wasn’t a hint of pink, or girliness, in your outfit. her smile faltered and she tilted her head to the side in confusion. you planted a kiss on her lips in greeting.

“hey,” you said.

“hi,” she said back, uncertainty still evident.

“whats wrong?” you asked, knowing full well what was up.

she started the car, beginning the drive before she spoke again.

“uhm, nothing,” she said, “its just… i’ve never seen you in an outfit like this.”

“do you not like it?” you asked, worried, “i-i just wasn’t feeling the pink.”

“no no, you look great baby,” billie objected, “but, you weren’t feeling the pink? i never thought i’d hear that from you.”

“does it matter?” you snapped, “we’re just going to get food. sorry i don’t wanna put on a dress and heels.”

you crossed your arms, looking out the window. you heard billie sigh and if you would’ve been looking, you would’ve seen the way she bit her lip in thought and glanced over at you, plotting her next words.

“y/n whats been up with you recently?” billie asked nervously.

“what do you mean?” you said.

“well, i don’t know, you just haven’t been yourself recently,” she took a breath, considering whether or not she’d say what had been on her mind.

“do you- do you not like me anymore or something?” she said, eyes flicking between you and the road.

“no, no, billie, thats not it. i promise,” you said, turning to face her while grabbing her hand off the console.

“okay,” she said, smiling a little out of relief, “then what is it? and don’t say nothing.”

“honestly,” you breathed out, “i was just trying to fit in with you more.”

“fit in with me more?” she asked, confused.

“i don’t know, it feels kind of stupid to say,” you confessed honestly.

“it’s not stupid, baby, i promise. just tell me,” she comforted, placing a kiss on the back of your hand.

“well, ever since we went public, i’ve been getting all these comments and dms about how i’m taking away from your style when we match, and how we don’t match, and how we look like a pr stunt because i dress in pink and girly and you don’t,” you said, looking down.

“i guess i just got tired of it. i want people to see us and know we’re together, for real,” you muttered.

“y/n,” billie said, squeezing your hand, “how could you call that stupid?”

“i just shouldn’t have let the hate get to me,” you said.

“its not your fault,” she said, finally arriving at the restaurant drive through.

you sat still for a moment as she ordered the food and picked it up. she parked in the parking lot, finally looking over to you for more than a second.

“y/n, i like your style. i don’t want you to change, for me or for anyone else. part of what makes us work is that we’re different. i know its annoying having people think it isn’t real, but we know the truth, that’s what matters,” she said, taking your hand in hers and placing a kiss on the back again.

you looked at her, biting your lip shyly. you smiled slightly, trying to fight it a little, but it was hard. your cheeks were burning as you looked at her.

“there’s that pretty smile,” she cooed, smiling back at you.

“i love you,” you said.

“i love you more,” she replied, leaning over the console to kiss you on the lips.

she snagged your house keys from the cup holders in the middle, untying the pink ribbon that adorned it.

“give me your hand,” she spoke.

you offered it to her and she gently picked up your left hand, carefully tying a bow on your ring finger, making you blush harder. you quickly rooted through your own bag, finding and untying the pink bow that was on your car keys.

“give me yours,” you said.

she gave it to you, and you tied the ribbon on her ring finger, just as she had done to you, before leaning over to kiss her lips briefly. you pulled away, holding her hand and admiring the two pink bows, knowing one day those bows would become rings.

“lets go,” you said.

she pulled out of the parking lot and as she drove, you snagged a picture of your hands, one that was sure to become a wallpaper, a constant reminder of your love and how it transcends what anyone thinks.

Sniper

Not usually the type to express his emotions freely; worries that him venting could bother you… would probably keep whatever’s bothering him inside ‘til he bursts… or, well, ‘til he forgets about it

Today, however, was especially hard— trigger-finger kept messing him; aim was terribly messy; spies. All he needed was to let it out, and, frankly, he didn’t know how to

You just see your lover walk into his camper van, disheveled and obviously tense. He doesn’t say anything, just proceeds to sit down on the bed beside you with his hat off, looking towards the ground

When you ask him what’s up… 50/50 he’ll say nothing or he’ll explain in the smallest detail what went wrong about his day

You can read him pretty well, however, and every ‘discussion’ about his terrible day would end with him in your arms, or laying his head on your lap

You’d stroke his hair, telling him that he did a good job today, that everything was fine; he’d nuzzle his face into you and stay silent, enjoying the feeling of being pampered

“Yer too nice to me, roo…” he’d mutter, and you’d smile at him, continuing your ministrations— “well, that’s because you deserve it,” is what you always say; and it was nothing far from the truth

Eventually he’d fall asleep, but not before muttering an “I love ya, darl’…”

Soldier

Would probably be incredibly pent-up about the others not taking him seriously. Would come around to you and VERBALLY express himself

Due to his more-aggressive nature, Soldier would probably… feel things at higher extents; he’s easily angered and could easily cry

He would however suppress his desires to cry because ‘lashing out and being angry’ = masculine; ‘crying’ = feminine

If you do spot him crying, however, he would— no hesitation— wrap his arms around you and rack your frame while sobbing into your chest

When you ask him what’s wrong, he’d explain to you in incomprehensible English mixed with hysterical sobbing and a slight hyperventilation (ALL WHILE SCREAMING!)

Could possibly get mad at you… which will in the long run make him feel worse

“… AND NO ONE WAS FOLLOWING MY ORDERS TODAY!” He’d yell, gripping onto your sleeves even tighter

Just pet his head, reassure him that he’s not annoying, and he’ll be good to go

With enough reassurance and help, though, he’ll manage to calm down; instead falling asleep in fetal position and (possibly… possibly!) with his thumb in his mouth.

Engineer

Engie is a well-collected person… he knows how to handle his anger on his own; knows how to keep it to himself (not because he doesn’t want to burden other people, but he would prefer keeping quiet for this reason, but because he just doesn’t see any benefit in rambling)

If he feels himself getting stressed at something, he’ll turn to his work— he’ll program something to give him that boost of dopamine that he’s actually done something right!

If, however, his stresses come from his work— say, an error or malfunction he can’t crack the code of— then he doesn’t know what else to do; he can’t be useless, damn it; he can’t get things wrong!

Come into his workshop to check on him; if you see him with his head in his hands, approach him and massage his shoulders

Engineer would immediately melt into your touch; he’d let out a sigh of relief indicating his relaxation and lift up his goggles to look at you. With a dreamy, tired smile, he’d say: “hey there, pretty thing,”

You’d then try to pry him away from his workdesk… which, if he’s absolutely stressed, would work— take him to your shared room, cuddle with him, and he’ll be good to go

As for crying, Dell seems too collected for that; even if he wanted to, I believe he just can’t bring himself to— not a matter of his view on masculinity; he just can’t

HC: What if Vertin is actually less human presenting but it's harder to tell because of her suit?

For example, there are a lot of human passing arcanists like Sonetto, Matilda, Melania, etc. Then there are arcanists like Shamane and Pavia where you see them reveal inhuman qualities at Insight II. Even further down the line you have Getian and Jessica. Arcanists vary so much in shape and size (not unlike humans tbh who also have a lot of variation among our species).

Here is what I conjured up:

Vertin's Silver/gray hair and eyes have a reflective quality to them so they reflect the color of things around them. This would also explain the inconsistencies in her hair/eye color. Her hat reduces the effect since it covers her head and she usually hides on eye. This way humans don't freak out as their talking by then changing color due to changes in light around them. You'd also end up staring at your own reflection in her eyes if you stare too hard.

If you could take a mirror and weave it into threads, that's Vertin's hair. Eyes have similar effect, they're like pools of liquid mercury.

Vertin might be able navigate through dark caves, labyrinths, and streets at night because she has a better night-vision than most. If you shine a light on her in the dark, her eyes do a that thing where they light up a like a cats. Just Sonetto lighting up the kitchen with her wand and Vertin's there nomming Picrasma candy like a naughty cat who got into the treat jar.

Then what about her suit? Maybe Vertin can temperature regulate like Sonetto, AEB her crossing the dessert in it, but she's sensitive to sun? The actual UV is bad for her skin if she's out there too long. Also her hair color is not good for protection either since she has negative melanin (this would also go for her eyes and be another reason for hat).

Or you could go further off the deep end. Embrace the arcanists blood!

What if Vertin barely even has body hair so she's more vulnerable if she doesn't cover up? What if you can see arcane shenanigans under her skin so she covers it up in public? Like her veins being a weird color instead of the blue-green humans are used too. Or maybe it's her overall body type in general?

Sonetto's parade uniform is shows off more skin. The Foundation...knows that she's pretty. They know what they're doing. There was even a trail about them using pretty girls as a distraction toward the beginning of the game. While her normal uniform covers up everything, the Foundation can make exceptions.

So what if Vertin's body doesn't conform to what humanity accepts? She has a lot of androgynous features and a lot of humans we see in-game like to put things in boxes. However, there's no box for people like Vertin who show a mixture of masculine and feminine features (although we see a more than few arcanists carry these traits). Because the Foundation wants humans to feel comfortable with arcanists, it's easier to only show off things they'll accept and quietly tuck away the things that they might not be as open too. Now that Vertin isn't a little kid anymore, those contradictory features are going to be more obvious. While Vertin is free to pick her own outfits, the stigma is still there. It actually gets worse with each Storm too.

In a world like that it might be easier to navigate to cover up as much as possible so people don't have time to dwell on what you look like underneath. Perhaps arcanists don't have that same obsession of what's going on underneath other people's clothes but they are subjected to it.

What if arcanists react to the full moon? Pavia needs to howl at it. Sonetto gets restless. Druvis NEEDS to bask in it and won't be interrupted. Then how does Vertin react? Turning into an Udimo? Big naps? Or she doesn't sleep at all. She becomes a menace! Becomes super strong! Or just lays on the floor and cries.

I forgot where I was going with this but here we are.

Embrace the arcanist blood and give me your "arcanist Vertins"! I will consume.

Edit: Can't believe the irony of me having to say this, but I do apparently have to say this: Not wanting boobs and not wanting to be seen as feminine does not mean you are, or want to be seen as masculine. I'm not transmasculine just because I don't want boobs and don't want to be seen as feminine.

the idea that having boobs gets you automatically and inherently classified as being "female presenting" and "feminine presenting" in so-called progressive circles makes me want to maul people.

I've said this before and I'll just keep repeating it forever: I'm disabled. I can't wear a binder. If I tried I'd dislocate several ribs and that'd be the least of my worries. Like. you know why ribs not being where they're supposed to be is dangerous? Yeah. Yeah. Use your imagination. That's a real thing I have to worry about.

I can't even wear a sports bra that's several sizes """too large""" comfortably.

And yeah, I can use trans tape, but that takes concerted time and effort to put on and take off, and every time you put it on you get different results, and you might just mess it up entirely and waste it, and it can get itchy if you're sweating with it on (and it's 90 degrees almost all the time it's not actively winter here, so that's...literally unavoidable. Even sitting in the living room. Because the electric company charges an arm and a leg for AC during the summer AND won't even give you enough to actually cool your shitty tiny apartment even with all the doors shut and curtains drawn!!!!!), and it's expensive to buy more of.

And especially because this declaration of "feminine presenting" or "female presenting" that gets shoved onto you is not only misgendering you, but placing the blame on you for being misgendered for not looking not-female enough. It's no longer the speaker making incorrect assumptions, they're now literally declaring that this is a concious decision you make. You are choosing to "present" yourself this way...by having a body that you have no control over.

And even when it comes to clothes, the idea that the clothes you wear is another purposeful, conscious Presentation™ of your gender...

Even if we ignore for a moment the fact that being disabled and poor severely limits the clothes you can wear and even just have access to, what about people who literally don't get to choose what their clothes are? Kids whose parents buy their clothes for them, people whose carers choose their outfits for them?

My gender is not "sun-bleached tank top and shorts with a reflective sun hat". That's just what I wear so I don't die of heat stroke every time I set foot outside, and so that my joints are not being painfully constricted every time I move. I literally can't take my hat off outside during the day without developing a headache (or are they fucking migraines? fuck if I know!) within minutes from the sun trying to murder me from my light sensitivity. And it took me years to even realize that it was light sensitivity causing this. I remember in middle school the substitute gym teacher asked if I was a vampire because I moved to the closest shady spot every time we moved to a new area.

And like. Let's be honest. Even if I could safely wear a binder...They're fucking expensive.

It's just really fucking annoying that so many people equate binding with being trans and so many people who are supposed to be allies are just so comfortable labeling other people, who they haven't asked, as "feminine presenting" just because of the presence of boobs. Like we have any choice in the matter. Like having visible boobs just means you're asking to be misgendered.

Soooooo. So. I will preface obviously I am not the only person to think of her like this. But I will give my reasoning as to why the interpretation makes sense to me.

As we've seen, Copia's home life is.. not great. Lots of emotional abuse and gaslighting, and a self image that. I mean, you see how different she looks as papa vs as cardinal. There's also stuff that feels like.. performing? Masculinity. I suppose is the way to put it. Like look at all the movie bits in Ghost Goes Hollywood. Further, Copia has this character component of like. Constantly trying to do what she's Supposed To and seems upset when she gets it wrong.

In the band itself, Copia seems to be associated with women. Impera begins and ends with the theming of violence toward women. We go from what Tobias describes as "the violent start of this new empire. The call to arms. Burn down everything from the past to build something new and burn the books and kill the whore" to a song about an event where "for a long time after, there must have been fear, especially among women, that it could happen again, because you don’t know where he is. You don’t know where he’s hiding. You don’t know what happened." The attitude, the mood, the feeling all go from this attacking (thematically) hateful call to arms to this almost mournful of talking about feminine terms used, referring to the biblical Jezebel as a saint, as well as the "seven sisters" line which seems to be pointing to a destruction of beauty in the name of an empire expanding.

The association extends to other designs, too. Copia is associated with women a few times in merch, most notably, the virgin Mary, as well as Venus. The papal mitre is less iconic than the cornette, a hat worn by nuns. Arguably even the use of blue is woman aligned, as this is a color again associated with the virgin Mary.

With everything here I feel like. Perhaps we can infer Copia is a trans woman. I think people forget that sometimes people transition later in life. I think, maybe, in doing this, she could start to find happiness. And as such it's a very dear headcanon/theory to me.

He’s the cuntiest bitch on the bullworth academy campus and I’m literally not going to accept any form of argument, he came out of the womb wearing aquaberry. He lives and breathes it, its his lifeblood. He plans his walk around school to and from each class, checking the weather to make sure he if needs to tweak any parts of the route so that’s he has the best chance of getting every student to see how effortless, demure and graceful he is in his choice of fine clothes, jewellery and hair care. No one is fooled by him, they know it takes a hell of a lot of effort.

Gord does a closet reshuffle every 6 months or so, just to make sure all his clothes are on trend and in season. This is standard prep procedure, but what makes Gord’s rearranging so special is that he literally cannot bear to throw anything away. He attaches memories to every stitch of fabric he’s ever put on his body, he’s a work of art and therefore every single outfit he’s ever worn simply has to be memorialised, he can’t throw it all away. His father has dedicated several houses just to the backlog of Gord’s discarded clothing. There’s more than enough in there to fully stock several Aquaberry locations for literal decades.

He gets dreadful hay fever, its actually kind of disgusting to look at him if he hasn’t taken an antihistamine. Luckily very few people have ever seen him like that, he has several boxes on his person at all times during the spring and summer. He just doesnt have the heart to tell Jimmy about his pollen allergy, so when he’s given flowers he has to hold all of his sneezes in. This then makes his eyes water, and therefore makes Jimmy think he’s so overjoyed with the gift that he’s moved to tears. Luckily for gord he keeps several hand stitched silk handkerchiefs on his person at all times, initialled with thread made of spun gold, he’s not some kind of common mutt that uses disposable tissues.

Gord is a rather talented pianist, he was given the choice as a child to either play polo with his father, or take piano lessons. The thought of the latter made him so lightheaded he thought that he was having a heart attack so he chose to play piano instead. His family have a very nice grand piano in their house’s foyer, but a separate, dedicated room for music practice with an equally expensive, but less aesthetically pleasing piano. On special occasions when the Vendomes wanted to show off, they’d plonk Gord in front of the piano and set him loose. It was usually Schubert or Bach to show how deeply cultured their young son was; but in his personal time, Gord found he much preferred to play the works of more modern classical composers, Leonard Cohen was a particular favourite in his early teens. He doesn’t play all that often nowadays, he’s much too busy, but every time he thinks he might be forgetting he’ll spend an hour or so playing through the giant stack of sheet music he’s accumulated over the years.

His cologne is one of a kind, hand mixed by a company in Milan, its tailored to him and only him and was originally a gift for his 10th birthday. It’s more feminine smelling than most colognes but he thinks it makes him stand out more, he’s not a traditionally masculine guy, so he likes that his cologne reflects that. He’s been gifted many other scents, usually from distant relatives or prospective marriage candidates that dont really know him but they’re just not the same.

Actually got bullied so insanely hard for his ears when he was a kid that he refused to leave the house without a hat on. Even when he first came to bullworth kids weren’t the nicest to him. His ears are a big source of insecurity for him and he is in the process of convincing his father to let him get surgery to tuck them in. His satellite dishes are so cute and he should never get rid of them but its not really up to me.

Comforts Pinky when Derby forgets about every single one of their dates, he takes her shopping for whatever she wants, to dinner someplace exclusive (he always makes reservations on days when those two have dates, he just knows Derby will bail), and then back to Harrington house to watch movies. He openly cries at the sad parts of the romcoms they inevitably end up watching, often more so than Pinky.

Holds a fondness for poor people that not even he himself can fully explain. If he had to pinpoint it, its their freedoms. They’re free to be content with nothing, or to work to fix it, they dont start at an advantage in life and therefore get to enjoy the ride a little bit more. Thats his rose tinted view of it anyway, obviously he hasn’t the time to spend creating a nuanced understanding of his infatuation, he just accepts it as part of his psyche and moves on with his own, utterly fabulous life.

"What's the most unexpected thing he likes" depends entirely on what you expect, and I feel like that's subjective. You could argue some of the things he likes in canon are pretty unexpected; while, on the other hand, even the unexpected stuff "makes sense" if you have the reason for it. So here's a list of random things that, while they make sense for Bill, might be surprising if you're trying to think of what would fit the image of an evil chaos party god:

First the canon. I feel like "silly straws" isn't exactly SURPRISING for Bill, but I doubt anyone would have expected him to like them enough to voluntarily bring it up if he hadn't. Like there's a long list of likable things he skipped over specifically to give silly straws a shout out.

Some people headcanon he can't actually play the piano and his little performance for Ford was all magic, but I like to headcanon he actually knows how to play and enjoys it. Which implies an unexpected amount of patience and dedicated practice out of a pretty flighty guy.

I mean I don't think anyone would have assumed that meditation fits his vibe.

Fandom's got a pretty good handle on associating him with brightly-colored busy patterns, but only with traditionally masculine or gender neutral aesthetics. Think bowling alley carpets patterns, lava lamps, Hot Wheels-style paint jobs, fire and lightning and lasers. But there's a tendency to overlook aesthetics that are associated with femininity. He WOULD be into Lisa Frank, decora, intricate neon nail art, magical girls that look like they're wearing hyper-saturated overly-complicated dance outfits covered in 24k gold and jewels as big as your thumb, extravagant hats, extravagant jewelry, girly drinks, girly desserts, glam fashion & decor, bubbles, bouquets, rainbows, and hot pink. To Bill, everything is gender neutral.

I think most people wouldn't expect Bill to be into surreal cerebral art films rather than, like, juvenile slapstick or action. But on the other hand, the line between "this is haunting" and "this is boring" is razor thin for him, so he doesn't always like the cerebral films.

He hasn't discovered this yet but he'd love the beach. Sunshine and swimming. The lake would do too.

I don't think anyone would anticipate that Gravity Falls is, actually, in fact, one of his favorite places in the dimension. He mainly keeps complaining about the town because every time he's there, he's TRAPPED AND CAN'T GET OUT.

He's really into math, just recreationally. He would read a whole book about proving Fermat's Last Theorem. He probably proved the theorem himself by 1700. Told no one. He was just bored that week.

Ford got him into DD&MD. Bill wasn't just humoring his human pawn, he genuinely enjoys it. Gets really into the roleplaying and storytelling. He hasn't had anyone to play with in thirty years. Prefers the 90s edition.

Everyone assumes Bill's just humoring Mabel by letting her put on Color Critters tapes. It's like Care Bears crossed with Rainbow Brite and the morals are twice as heavy-handed. But he actually does enjoy the show, it's just for the wrong reasons.

You'd expect the guy who destroyed his home dimension to hate it. There are books, songs, instruments, cars, plays, hotels, cities, convention centers, dams, field trip destinations, even rocks that he misses dearly and will never see again. He still writes to himself and talks to other shapes in his native language. He still constructs houses without ceilings. He still hugs with one arm and shakes hands sideways. He loves his dead dimension. Few people outside of the other surviving shapes know this.

Saw a post about crossdressing this morning and also got a message that warmed my heart, and that got me thinking about a moment where I had some gender related euphoria. So now I'm gonna tell you a story.

So about a year or two ago, my parents were out of town on a trip while I stayed home to care for my brother. And in that time, it snowed. Now, I'm a bit out of practice when it comes to shoveling, we don't get as much where we live now, but I knew I had to go shovel it so the driveway didn't become dangerous. So I went out and took care of our driveway and sidewalk. And I noticed, I was late, everyone else had already done theirs. Everyone, except for myself and my neighbor. My neighbor is an older lady, she can't get around so well. So once I finished our property, thinking I was all alone, I went and got her sidewalk cleaned up.

Well, I was not as stealthy as I'd thought. She ended up coming to the door and called out to me in thanks. And she asked me if I was my father's son. I guess she remembered that her neighbors had a son, but not that they had three daughters as well. We'd never met before, she probably didn't know I existed. Now she does, she sees me taking photos in our yard of my dolls at the very least. But there I was in my winter coat and pajama bottoms, my long hair a mess under my hat, slightly sick with a cough, being mistaken for an eldest son. When my mom called to check up on us, I told her this story, and she laughed and said she was sorry. And I couldn't help but be confused. There was nothing to be sorry for. If anything, I rather liked being mistaken for a gentleman. It likely wasn't a comment on my presentation, it was more likely a case of piecing together information incorrectly and my performing of a task that typically (but not always) a man might do. But I'd like to think maybe I was convincing regardless.

And that was the first time I really came to terms with that for myself. I don't identify as a man in the slightest, but I like being mistaken for a man. I like occasionally dressing in a way that's masculine, hell, I have a character for cosplaying that makes me feel hella handsome whenever I put him on. I aspire to voice more male characters, I have this deep voice for a woman and I want to flex it a little, push it to see what it can do. There's a friend I voice some OCs for that happen to be a couple, a man and a woman, and in this one skit where they're together, so many people don't catch on that I play both characters until they get to the credits. That is such a good feeling! What a funny thing, to be excited that you couldn't identify me as me, but genuinely, I love that just as much as I love being recognized. I have range, baby! I like feeling like a shapeshifter, that I can be anything I want, be that masculine, feminine, neutral, over the top, whatever. I've got the power to do that. There's something really freeing in that. I still feel like a woman, but it's nice to know that being a woman doesn't limit how I can present or how I'm allowed to feel about myself. I can truly be anything.

Sebastian and Ciel were partners before you came along. When you did, Ciel felt conflicted. It was one thing being partners with his demon. Who was his butler. Who was also a male. Who was also centuries older than him...

You, though, were different. You were much younger than Sebastian (thankfully), and quite.. odd. At least in Ciel's eyes. He's never seen someone like you before.

You always covered your ears whenever Mey-rin came stomping down the halls squealing. You always squint to block the light of Baldroy's explosives. When Lizzy was around, you ignored her completely. She was a loud girl, and loved bright things.

Ciel felt some sort of relief around you. While your reasons could be different from his, he also didn't like just how loud and bright she was.

Sebastian was the first to notice your disliking to certain textures and flavors. He'd given you jello one day, and you nearly cried at the slimy feel. He swiftly apologized and gave you something to your liking.

He had to change the sheets in the guest bedroom, as you would bawl your eyes out or gag at the feeling of the fluff on dry skin.

Speaking of dry skin, lotion absolutely irked you. The gross feel of it to your skin make you gag.

When you, Ciel, and Sebastian all started dating, they had to make even more adjustments. Changing the fabric of Ciel's clothes to make sure you AND him were okay with it, changing the lightbulbs, heavier training with the servants...

You felt bad they had to do this, but Ciel would reassure you by holding your hands. Sebastian would tuck your hair behind your ears.

Now, when you spoke about how you didn't like either of the 'my lady' or 'sir' titles, that's when they got confused. It wasn't new for Sebastian to see or deal with someone who didn't like feminine or masculine clothes.. but straight-up denying any sort of gendered title was new.

They discussed this with you. It was quite easy for Sebastian to grasp it, but Ciel had to have a 'for dummies' explanation.

Men typically wore darker clothes, or if bright they'd be clearly masculine. Women would wear light clothes, or if dark they'd be clearly feminine. This was hard to mix into one complete outfit for you.

Sebastian arrived one day, two pairs of clothes in hand. One was a light brown, the other white. He helped you put both on. They were identical, except for the colors.

A short-sleeved buttoned shirt with short overalls. You wore gloves that reached to mid-arm, socks that nearly reached knee level along with matching boots. In the back is what seemed to be a detachable dress cloth, giving the look of a cloak around your waist. He also had gotten a matching dress coat, hat, and other accessories for the outfit.

Sebastian had let you know Ciel sketched this idea, and he had done the work to make Ciel's idea a reality.

Safe to say, they adore you, and you adore them.

I’ve been thinking so much about this specific scene from The Caddy (1953).

I couldn’t find an isolated clip, but the timestamp here is roughly 41:17 - 44:15. It’s the scene where Harvey (Jerry) sets up a little celebration for Joe (Dean) after he wins a golf tournament.

First, we see the sign on the door reading “Welcome Home Champ,” which Harvey has clearly handmade himself, giving the first hint of what he feels toward Joe. Joe questions, “I wonder who that’s for,” which could be interpreted a few different ways. Maybe nobody in his life has shown him this level of care and effort before, to the point that he is genuinely taken aback when he gets to the door. Maybe he doesn’t realize how important he is in Harvey’s life and doesn’t think what he’s doing is worthy of any recognition.

Next, he enters the room and we see Harvey. Again, in this scene Jerry is in the familiar trope of playing the “woman” in the relationship. Throughout their filmography and television appearances, Jerry’s characters often serve to reinforce Dean’s masculinity as he plays roles that can very easily be read as feminine and/or queer. In this instance, I am referring to queer as not only relating to gender and sexuality, but ways of existence which fall outside of conformity. The nature of their partnership, both in their act and in real life, is rather unconventional when we consider other male comedy duos of their era. The love and admiration they shared for one another (particularly Jerry to Dean) couldn’t be contained. We can think of other teams such as Laurel & Hardy, Abbott & Costello, and Hope & Crosby. In many cases, these men either couldn’t stand each other in real life or were strictly business partners. We can begin to understand how much of an anomaly the Martin & Lewis relationship was. Particularly in the case of Bob Hope and Bing Crosby, their films have many scenes with queer implications and ambiguous subtext. However, it is always played more for a laugh and the sheer “shock value” at the very suggestion of homosexuality. I never find this to be the case with Dean and Jerry, as scenes of the same nature often feel more innocent or less derogatory.

Back to the film! When Joe enters the room he shares with Harvey, we see the depiction of a very domestic scene. Harvey is acting as the devoted housewife, dutifully preparing dinner for the two of them with a recipe he learned from Joe’s mother. A little while later, he also remarks “I got the wide noodles you like so well!” This suggests he has gotten to know Joe well enough and has paid enough attention to his preferences that he can invest time and effort into making this a special celebration for Joe. Furthermore, he is even wearing an apron, which can be read as another attribute of a housewife (think of the scene in Rebel Without a Cause when Jim Stark catches his father wearing an apron and performing domestic duties for his mother). Again, this reads as a scene between a husband and wife, and almost could have been plucked out of any 1950s sitcom.

Harvey also has a few gifts for Joe. The first one is a hat which belonged to Harvey’s father, who was a very important figure in his life. We can begin to think about the significance of Harvey gifting Joe such an intimate and personal gift. In the film, it is well established how Harvey reveres his father, and now he is sharing his memory with Joe. In this sequence, Harvey can hardly contain his excitement as Joe opens it and his anticipation is very clear. When Joe tries the hat on and realizes it is too big, Harvey is initially bashful and embarrassed, almost as if he is expecting to be ridiculed. However, Joe seemingly understands the emotional weight of a gift like this along with the significance it carries for Harvey (although he doesn’t let his emotions show, much like Dean himself). In that moment, it is not about gifting Joe a brand new hat that was tailored perfectly for him. If Harvey wanted to do that, he would have. Rather, gifting Joe his dad’s hat was about Harvey giving Joe a piece of himself. Similarly, the next gift Harvey has ready for Joe is a trophy that his father won at an important golf tournament, reflecting the same sentimentality of the hat.

Seemingly, Harvey has set up a party just for the two of them which is an intimate gesture (literally a candlelit dinner, lol). He remarks, “A man that’s under pressure should have things he likes!” This tells us that Harvey wants Joe to succeed and is carefully considering his health and well-being. Then, while discussing the end of the evening he has planned and the ice cream they will have for dessert, Harvey says “…and we’ll hit the sack.” Interestingly enough, there is only one bed visible in the room they share.

Once Harvey learns that Joe will be going out to a party with a woman rather than staying for the dinner he planned, he expresses hurt and concern. He pleads with Joe to stay before finally acquiescing and agreeing upon a curfew of 11 PM. While Harvey tries to mask his emotions in this situation, it is still very clear to the audience. As he straightens Joe’s tie, he attempts to downplay the effort he clearly put in to set up the dinner. At last, as Joe leaves, Harvey takes the sign off the door and blows out the candle on the table, seemingly losing all interest in what he had prepared for the evening once Joe was no longer there to share it with him. I think this scene also speaks to Jerry’s incredible talent for more serious, emotional scenes.

Well, this turned out a lot longer than I expected. As I said, I have not been able to stop thinking about this scene for a few days and keep rewatching it. Maybe I read way too much into this scene that’s barely three minutes long, maybe it’s not that serious at all, but I had a lot of fun analyzing it and putting some of my thoughts into words. While I’m an undergraduate student, I certainly don’t consider myself a writer so I apologize if this is a bit jumbled. Thank you for reading :)

About Dante:

Dante is a Devil guy, he's a self insert representing me. He's transgender FTM, with red skin and a pair of small red horns on his head, medium long black hair a bit over his shoulders, wears glasses, has golden yellow eyes and finally an Imp or devil like tail with a heart shaped tip. He uses He / They pronouns.

Personality wise, he's mostly outgoing and a happy guy. However he does sometimes go overboard and ends up being a bit pushy with some things; due to his loneliness. He also has some problems he has to work on, like emotional dependence on people and things, due to past toxic relationships. (I will project a lot onto him since he's a self insert.)

He finds a happy place in his loneliness, but tries to escape it by being more social. He also buried his need to show love towards romantic interests, because he's scared of getting hurt again; although, he tries to show it, at a very slow pace.

His interests revolve mostly about art and creation. (This area of his profession might be subject to change in the future.) He works as a graphic designer at a company, he likes his work, but doesn't love it.

Aesthetic wise, he enjoys mostly everything, from calm environments to also upbeat and intense ones. Mostly enjoying cozy clothes and winter themed wear, scarfs, sweaters, coats, etc. Despite this, he recently started exploring his feminine side after repressing it in his early and mid teen years, feeling more comfortable in it after transition, and time to time will dress fem.

Random facts: Enjoys energy drinks a lot. Likes cats. Enjoys pet names. Has a cat named Donut. Favorite foods are mostly spicy and salty foods.

About Pest

Pest is a japanese stag beetle, with a white exoskeleton covering his body and big glowing red eyes. He is Intersex, with two sets of mandibles, male ones on his head and female ones from his mouth. Also his head is shaded to look more edgy and cool. (However this is canonically from his hat which i hate to draw, I hate drawing baseball caps.) He mostly presents in a masculine manner, and uses primarily He / they pronouns, but he doesn't mind people refering to him as She.

Pest's is cold hearted, quiet, and doesn't care about anything most of the time; Since he grew up as a orphan, only having one person to look after him, made him grow up fast and become indepenent at a young age. With that said, he never trusts anyone and will avoid social stuff, as he doesn't find it interesting and thinks that making friends or interacting with people is a waste of time that he could be using to create and imagine. This will lead to some problems, such as ignoring his own needs and ignoring what his heart feels, pushing away feelings and supressing them, scared to let people know him personally.

She will take a LONG time to get comfortable with someone, even longer to actually feel romantic feelings for someone. She will take a very long time to even accept these feelings.

His work area revolves around invention, since he was young he would create random stuff from trash he found near his den where he lived. He works in a small metal workshop, mostly creating house items but also has his own time to create whatever he wants. He knows how to weild metals.

As for his Aesthetic and likes, he likes quiet spaces and calm areas where he can dive into his own imagination. He enjoys dark colors, chunky jackets and baggy pants, not really into fashion but his outfits end up being really nice. They have a sweet tooth for various sweets and enjoys baking occasionally, however they never tell anyone, his favorite fruit is apple.

Random facts: She steals small trinkets that get her attention and keeps them in a box. Doesn't like water. Sensitive to bright lights.

I make sense of KID getting Sera’s gender wrong partly on account of I see both of them as genderqueer and I feel like Kaito would have been wary of that when he noticed her body and voice had female features despite her style of dressing and speaking being masculine, despite Gosho’s writing choices Kaito seems to get along better with girls than boys (it was not that weird to him that girls would give him chocolate despite having no knowledge of Valentines Day he just wanted context, he calls his female friends by their first names and for the most part they return that closeness and he fits in with them with minimal disguises too) and Aoko’s a tomboy so he understands masculinity and femininity aren’t so black and white. Gender Expression is different from Gender Identity, also intersex people exist. 

The other part has to do with Masumi being kind of in hiding. I don’t think she would have brought any ID with her that could have traced her to her family (and her sex assigned at birth or legal gender) as for the event she was very much reminiscent of her first appearance when she was concealing her true identity probably because it was very public. This also explains why she wasn’t that active during the heist despite KID being a magician and wasn’t too worried about anything that could have been in her pockets when KID took her clothes.

I headcanon that the main reason KID chose Sera was because she was wearing a hat indoors without criticism and he could use it to avoid the fish in the aquarium (he’s fine with other sea creatures/marine life and was probably very grateful to the turtle) and he was familiar with her friends so if he panicked it was somewhat familiar territory, plus Ran reminds him of Aoko and Sonoko’s a KID fan. Unfortunately despite using the men’s bathroom and knowing that KID often uses stun guns to knock out men and mostly does so in bathrooms so he can steal their clothes Masumi reacted with violence when this happened to her and he was chased out. 

On one hand, Kaito doesn't recognize Sera's gender because he's living in the environment that opened to lots of possibilities is interesting. On the other hand, this shows Sera has reached a new level of gender non-conformity that even Kaitou KID can't figure it out. If that's the latter, then what an achievement 👏👏👏

Can I just say Giorno admires you in a certain way?

He knows that it's not a very conventional "feminine" haircut, and that you may get bad looks from some... People, from time to time.

But he really approves the way you don't seem to worry about what others think in the slightest, it's something he finds really fascinating in a person.

He supports your look 100% and tells you how beautiful you are in his eyes any time he can.

I can see him buying you a lot of outfits to go with the rest of your appearance. He loves to spoil you and thinks it's a better way to prove he truly believes you look stunning.

His long hair and braid create a nice contrast to your own. He thinks it's nice how the two of you break the usual norms for female and male beauty.

Bruno loves how much your haircut makes you stick out for the norm.

He encourages you to express yourself in any way it makes you feel comfortable, and if it's with a buzzcut, why not?

He'll be ready to send away just with a single look anyone who may have something to say about your appearance.

He'd invite you to ignore those who don't approve of your image and he'd constantly remind you that "long hair for women" is purely a convention. You don't have to conform to anything nor anyone.

I can see him wanting you to try on his little hairpins just because he thinks they'd look nice on you. If you don't want to though, it's alright and he wouldn't care to insist :)

Buddy I wouldn't be surprised if he had a buzzcut too if he ain't straight up bald lol

He thinks your short hair makes you look pretty badass, he likes to show off to the others how cool his girlfriend is.

He loves the way it makes you stand out from the ordinary and how you don't care about how people may judge you for your appearance.

To be honest, Fugo never really thought much about your appearance until you pointed it out to him.

Not because you're ugly, of course. He simply thinks it's your body and you choose how to show yourself to others, it's a style choice like anything else.

But if you were to directly ask him what he thinks about it, he won't hesitate to show that he genuinely does love your look.

Probably kisses your head very often to make up for the time he appeared a bit disinterested at first. He doesn't mean to make you think he doesn't care about it, he just thinks you're beautiful in any case.

After some time though, even when you're sure he held no ill intentions, he just keeps on doing it because he loves kissing you in general.

Abbacchio ⏮️

Okay, Abbacchio probably thought from the very beginning that your look was quite astounding. He loved the slightly masculine vibe you gave off, in contrast with his long hair.

But is he going to say that out loud? No, or course not. He can't admit something, at least in his mind, so "cheesy", even if it's not really so bad.

When you directly ask him what he thinks about your appearance, he tries to avoid and change the subject as soon as possible, which most likely leads you to believe you look bad in his eyes.

Normally, you don't really care about what people have to say about it, but it hurts coming from your partner.

Nonetheless the man is not stupid, and he can see that his response hurt you.

So, albeit still reluctantly, he will try to show more appreciation for your haircut, just enough for you to realize he really means it.

Okay, I'll be honest with you: Trish probably didn't like your haircut a lot at first. It's just not really her style.

If you're part of the gang and met her while escorting her, she might even say it to your face at some point. If you met her later, she'll just keep it to herself.

Either way, once she starts to warm up to you, she'll apologize and ask you to forgive her for her rude comments, or even for just thinking that.

Being with you made her appreciate this new type of look more, she kind of likes the way it seems to to balance out her own quite feminine appearance.

She's a bit sad she can't try many haircuts on you, so she loves to do your make up to make it match with your overall vibe.

I know that the end of the year can be a rough time for a lot of us especially around the holidays, so I’d like to be able to possibly brighten things up. And I know many people liked events where I drew them with a character. so I’m going to try to do as many OC x character drawings as I can in that time.

For this event I’ll draw you or your OC with a character/person of your choice (example: you & markiplier

My Goal is to draw at least one over each weekend until 2024. Maybe more.

Handling entries by email only because it gets too complicated to try and do this across tumblr, Twitter and instagram.

2. When I receive the info I’ll add your name to the drawing and email you back that I received your entry

3. Each weekend I’ll slap names on a wheel or draw from a hat, and get one name at random and I’ll draw that request.

I might even record spinning the wheel in my Instagram stories.

3. Description or photo references of the outfits you’d like you/your OC to be wearing. And the outfit you’d like the character you’ll be drawn with wearing (if different then their regular outfits)

4. Please tell me your eye color

5. Please tell me your skin tone (pale, white, tan, light brown, dark brown, purple, gray etc)

6. Please tell me your preferred pronouns and body type (feminine or non-feminine) their Chibi’s so there’s not a huge physical difference))

✏️ Feminine will include eyelashes and a more curvy figure

✏️ Non-feminine will have no eyelashes and no curves

7. If you’d like a specific body type outside these or other details please describe (example: masculine body but with eyelashes)
