was talking with a friend about how some of dunmeshi fаndom misunderstands kabru's initial feelings towards laios.

to sum up kabru's situation via a self-contained modernized metaphor:

kabru is like a guy who lost his entire family in a highly traumatic car accident. years later he joins a discord server and takes note of laios, another server member who seems interesting, so they start chatting. then laios reveals his special interest and favorite movie of all time is David Cronenberg's Crash (1996), and invites kabru to go watch a demolition derby with him

is this ship popular because it’s legitimately compelling or is it popular because it’s the easiest to decontextualize and write college roommate AUs about?

#i’ve said it before and i’ll say it again 🤷#i’m finally realizing that a big thing for me is what i suppose could be called high-context relationships #where character dynamics are VERY strongly shaped by canon circumstances and events #which AUs render completely incoherent or meaningless #vs. ships that aren’t as context-dependent and are thus friendlier to people looking to write AUs #or project their OCs onto the characters and their relationship #which isn’t like. Evil or anything #it just isn’t my cup of tea #like. obviously it’s compelling to those people in a very different way #but that’s different from it being compelling IN CANON #which is all i personally care about so 🤷🤷

Thinking about DP x DC Jason Todd being a revenant again. Here's my scenario. Jason gets called that by some ghost. He's like "what the fuck is that supposed to mean?" He's heard the term before but he doesn't know any actual lore. He googles it. He scrolls past the Leonardo DiCaprio bear movie. He opens the wiki. Sees the words "animated corpse" and gets a chill diwn his spine. He starts reading the first section.

He closes Wikipedia.

That night he has a nightmare that his family buried him, again, this time with precautions. He wakes up in his own grave, full of stones, too heavy to move, to scream.

#CANT STOP THINKING ABOUT THIS #like reading this section in the context of jason is SO HORRIFYING #the idea of someone knowing it was possible for him to come back. to wake up down there. and wanting to keep him there #stay dead. we want you dead. you're too troublesome alive. you're meant to be down there.#so anyways. jason internalizing all this shit and feeling uncomfortable in his own body because he's thinking of it as a corpse #and of himself as haunting a place he doesn't belong #and then meeting danny and danny says 'wow you're a revenant aren't you! “… so basically just about everyone in my life has tried to kill me at least once, it’s kinda become my go-to way of making friends, just striking up a conversation with anyone who shoots me. It’s worked with just about all of the rogues in my hometown, including my clone-turned-sister who I had brunch with just last week. Even my parents used to shoot at me, but that was only for like a year or so and in their defense they didn’t actually know it was me, haha. It’s kinda funny, the only person who ever managed to actually kill me was a friend of mine who didn’t technically kill me the first time, and then only did it a second time to fix some rewritten timeline stuff, and I still dated her for a while after that. Oh, speaking of dating, my first girlfriend tried to kill me WHILE we were dating, but again, in her defense, she didn’t know it was me haha. But yeah, that’s kinda why I kept talking to that guy while he was pummeling me, just a bit of a pattern I’ve wound up developing. Anyway, what was the question again?”

“… How did you get in my safe house, and do you need medical attention.”

Like I said in one of my previous posts i think abt this scene far too much. Wanted to interpret it outside of just the sprites

I especially wanted to point out Godpoke's part in it, because sure, Capo was the one who went too far, but they/you were the one to deliver the message to Razzma and she even kinda calls them/you out on it. Also from a standpoint of Godpoke as a character it could be a learning moment for them, the first time they accidentally genuiely hurt someone via their use of Megapon. Could make them think twice next time and such.

Also I'm still surprised at how Capo yelled this line out almost right away, no hesitation. I wonder how aware he was of this being self projection at that time. Shit's fucked up.

#Also the panelling on the 2nd page has further context #because in game capo switches from a more 'serious' face when he thinks about what he said to a more goofy one when he asks you-#-if he went too far #and i think while it can be genuine i also like the idea of this being like. him having a genuine moment where he thinks over what he said #but then he remembers you're standing there so he puts up the more goofy act #because as one of the notes from the artbook say he was told to 'play dumb'. so play dumb he will #that's more of a bonus trivia though and i think you can interpret this both ways. if you rrly wanna get into overanalyzing the sprites lma #fanart #great god grove #ggg #capochin ggg #razzmatazz ggg #razzma ggg #godpoke ggg
