Look I don’t want to be mean here but guys. I am never, ever drawing on Supernatural for my fics. Ever. Comparisons are inevitable given how widespread the damn show is but I am begging you to remember that things like angels, vampires, and the supernatural were around before that show. If SPN and I both draw on Dracula or Buffy then that doesn’t mean I’m drawing on SPN, you get me?

Sorry I’m just really annoyed from getting comments that dismissively and confidently announce the SPN influence on a fic of mine when SPN didn’t cross my mind at all while writing it. If nothing else, I would’ve said I was influenced by SPN by making a joke bitching about it.

Piggybacking off the last anon, what is it you like about Jane so much? I find my feelings on her kind of mixed but I lean towards positive.

okay i haven’t read act six in probably like 5 years so bear with me here. *cracks knuckles*

jane is sooo so interesting and it’s really a shame people miss like everything fun about her.

pre-scratch she used her detective work to literally succeed at tearing down the crocker cooperation, to the point that HIC has to fucking abandon ship and head into another universe to have another shot at her evil empire. pre-scratch jane is also fucking hilarious! if you didnt enjoy her antics with john as nannasprite you must just have no heart

meanwhile HIC breaches a new universe, and her FIRST fucking order of business is to NEUTRALIZE JANE CROCKER because of how goddamn detrimental she was to HIC’s plans the first time around.

not ONLY does HIC pump subliminal messaging and brainwashing into nearly every aspect of jane’s life, she also tries to straight up mind control her basically whenever possible! she ALSO sends assassination attempts after jane 24/7! (people will seriously try to say that jane lived a safe normal life… as if she wasn’t almost killed by walking into her backyard.) this is because HIC is fucking scared of jane, as she very well should be!

jane is also NOT a boring weepy annoying crybaby like everyone and their mother complains about. jane is literally the most fucking supportive friend and emotion-repressing dumbass you could ever hope to meet. jane combines john’s emotional repression and jade’s intentional cheerfulness together into one of the most fucked up cases of emotional repression in the whole comic

act 6 suffers from a LOT of shitty writing choices, but it’s not jane’s fault the whole act turns into a soap opera— and she’s ALSO not the only one who acts all soap-opera-y either! literally all of the alpha kids suffer from this, people just like jane the least so they project it all onto her. despite the fact that she did her very fucking best to NEVER talk about her feelings, to the point where she ONLY started telling people about shit when she was mind-controlled or took mind altering substances to make her do so! and you can say “ohhh that’s stupid she shouldn’t repress things in the first place how dumb” but, one she’s sixteen, and two, everyone eats that shit up when it comes from like. literally any other character.

people (cough hs2 writers) act like she would actually be “pushy” with a relationship on jake— as if she wasn’t literally the one who helped him make the decision to explore dating dirk?? because she thought it was the right thing to do???

jane is incredibly thoughtful and mature and people really throw all of those traits out of the window with preference for a version of the story where she Comes Inbetween Their Fave Gay Pairing as if she wasn’t, again, the one who got them together. jane is also extremely interesting in terms of queerness; she’s got the makings of a really interesting arc, not to mention she’s the only human girl that dresses mainly masc! there’s a lot there that people just don’t care to explore.

people just have less patience for the prospit kids in general. not to mention homestuck fans love to be misogynistic and berate jane for stuff they love the men doing, or claim she’s coming between them when she’s not, etc etc. and then because no one was writing fun meta posts about her, nobody ever rereads the comic to grab little scenes or lines to expand the online discussion about her! and then because there’s no discussion about her, people assume she’s boring and don’t go looking for bits to start discussing, which cycles on and on forever until we have the ripple effects we see of that misogyny today. which mostly consists of, “oh i hate jane because she was a villain is hs2”, or, “i know hs2 isn’t canon but i still don’t care for jane because she doesn’t do anything that interests me.” (and she’s only not interesting because of the cycle i mentioned before causing NO ONE to have meta discussion about her).

idk, it’s been a while since ive read so i could be talking out my ass but that’s what i’ve got.

TL;DR: jane is fucking COOL, she just suffers from intentional fandom ignorance. and she’s also a canonically hot, fat, masc woman, so i don’t know what else you could possibly want.

what do you see in equius ?? genuine question i don't mean to sound rude but to me she's just really offputting. she gives me such creep vibes that i can't seem to get over and every time i read a page with her it just gets worse..... like when i first read nep & eq's chats i was sitting there wondering if this was outright abuse or at least bullying of some kind??? it felt like it idk.......

but honestly i do wanna see an equius liker's opinion on him because i can't understand it like at all and i'm probably just missing something that all the equius likers saw and i didnt LMAO

Well, considering I’m an Alpha Trolls Enthusiast and have been for, like, a decade, as well as having Horror as a Special Interest since age… What, 3? I’d say I personally have a pretty strong stomach for Weird and Offputting in fiction, lol. Stronger than most. Equius isn’t a very palatable character at all, I’ll be the first to admit that - a lot of the characters I enjoy the most in Homestuck aren’t very palatable… But I find ‘em real interesting, personally. The fact that they aren’t palatable adds to the intrigue for me, and poor execution tends to be a total weakness of mine. Again, Alpha Trolls Enthusiast for a decade straight.

I have a post here that talks a bit about my reading of Equius, I’d recommend giving it a read. I see Eridan and Equius as being very similar characters - not necessarily due to their shared hemoloyalty, but because they’re both teens falling down online pipelines. They’re very prevalent Kinds Of Guy that no one wants to talk about.

But people talk about Eridan plenty even to this day - he was even a fandom favorite for a while, being the fandom’s first Prettyboy Sad Gay Anime Prince long before Dirk… So he doesn’t reel in as much interest for me as the chronically overlooked Equius.

If there’s anything to know about me, it’s that I love a good underdog.

Equius-Likers, from my experience, are very aware of his issues. It’s part of the draw. Enjoyment of him tends to be an analytical fixation. I haven’t met a single Equius-Liker that hasn’t had some very complex thoughts on him. They’re just kinda quiet about it. Fitting.

Unfortunately, I’m Aranea But Real, so. No quietness here.

Your response to Equius is valid. It’s also intended, I feel. To specifically address the bits about concerns of his relationship with Nepeta not being healthy… I mean, it’s not abusive, but it’s definitely more complicated than fan art would lead you to believe, as always. “Complicated” is to be expected from a Moirallegiance - remember what they exist for?

Nepeta is very much so in control of the things going on, and their relationship is pretty equal, all things considered, so I wouldn’t be worrying too much about that. She very distinctly does not lack agency here - Nepeta is the one who has a leash on Equius, not the other way around. Equius is mean, because that’s the way she is to… Everyone, more or less, but she’s not of any danger to Nepeta. They have a fine Moirallegiance. 1,000% more functional than whatever the fuck Karkat and Gamzee had going on.

Anyway. I think Equius is neat, and has both missed and oft overlooked potential. One of the very few characters I’d be 100% down to have seen more content of in the comic.

TO BE HONEST WITH YOU, though, I only really engage with “beyond canon” or “dubious canon” or “post-canon” content in the way I’m doing right here, which is to say, drawing silly requests to dress up CKat as Hatsune Miku or whatever. or sometimes drawing something featuring meat or candy DaveKat specifically for my dear friend bug, who loves the epilogues and HS2, and still has a lot of hope for a happy DaveKat ending in *both* timelines. (love you bug, love your optimism, and I hope for your sake that HS2 doesn’t disappoint!)

because **MY** opinion of all that is that it sucks and shouldn’t exist, lol. sorry!! I hate its very existence! I ignore it and I mostly avoid it because it upsets me deeply, and I only engage (very shallowly) with the elements I can fully get behind, which usually means “cool outfits” or “cool designs.” Davebot looks real cool, man! that’s about all I can say about him without wanting to vomit!! his very existence makes me sad as fuck and I hate it, idk what else to tell you. I hate that even though that story goes out of its way to point out how non-canon it is, just by nature of being an officially sanctioned product it kinda IS canon, and the fans sure treat it that way, and I’m not even saying they’re wrong. if Hussie wanted the epilogues to actually be treated like fanfic maybe they shouldn’t’ve attached their name, man, idk.

anyway, I know drawing CKat and Davebot as just silly little guys without actually fully engaging with/reading post-canon sorta makes me part of “the problem,” like those “fans” of Homestuck who don’t understand it at all bc they HAVEN’T READ IT yet insist on making art about it that misunderstands the characters? but tbh I just don’t like or respect post-canon stuff in the same way I like and respect the original work. to me it is fanfic, and not even like a good one that I would bookmark or download a PDF of, lol. sorry if this disappoints you! synopsis: h retelling of the romcom, “how to lose a guy in ten days” karkat has to write an article about how to lose a guy in ten days, and dave has a bet that he can find a guy to take to his sisters wedding. very silly :)

thoughts: there’s so many moments where i was cringing SO HARD. but it’s such a fun time, especially if you like cheesy romcom retellings. like karkat trying desperately to lose dave is so funny 😭 (you will see later that i am a big fan of cheesy romcom stories, so i’m sorry LOL).

Nothingbound by bluberi (unfinished)

synopsis: a retelling of the romcom, “you’ve got mail” karkat is a local bookstore owner, and dave’s brother is a chain bookstore owner, and is moving in across the street. the only solace karkat seems to find is in his online friend, who is actually his enemy all along. angst ensues, drama, enemies to lovers, slowburn etc etc. :D

thoughts: speaking of romcom retellings… this one is unfinished, but the chapters there are so much fun. i adore the art that goes along with it. and just how silly, and angsty it can be. the dave and karkat are SPOT ON. and same with all the other characters. i especially enjoy rosemary, and the ones who work at karkats book store :)

Doc Scratch's School for Supernaturally Gifted Adolescents by medical (finished)

synopsis: humanstuck superhero au. dave and his friends get a mysterious letter to attend a supernatural school.

thoughts: literally in my top three favorite homestuck fics of all time. this is so much more than just a davekat fic, like it’s a *whole* story. there’s also incredibly prominent rosemary, like they are not just shoved to the back. again it’s so thought out, and incredibly tropey. and all the characters are handled so well. it’s so incredibly fanfiction, but in the way where you can’t stop reading it. it’s popular for a reason, and very much deserves that popularity. i’m currently making my friend buddy read this with me <3

thoughts: SO SO CUTE. i will recommend you try literally any fic by strawberrystardust, they are all incredibly, and they are such an amazing writer. please look into the tws for their other fics, but i literally cannot recommend them enough :)

synopsis: rose owns a popular occult blog, kanaya is a fan. kanayas family moves in next store, and rose posts about her.

thoughts:

TOP THREE HOMESTUCK FICS AGAIN. this one is SO SILLY, it captures everything about rosemary perfectly. the cringe fail of it all, the rose thinking she’s a therapist but instead just over sharing her family’s issues online. it’s so funny, and well written. and i say this as someone who HATES first person pov in fics. it is done incredibly well. like, this author manages to pull it all off. rose’s blog post are so funny, and it will have you smiling like a fool the whole time. this and doc scratch school, and house of dirk are definitely like fics id want you to read the most out of this list!! :)

Kiss Her You Fool by Paech (oneshot)

synopsis: rose tries to get kanaya to kiss her

thoughts: incredibly cute, i love them so so much. rose lalonde will forever be a mess, and i love that for her <3

thoughts: ajdhajhshej, this one is so 😭😭 like vrisrezi is also there and they are all failing, they are all a mess. the synopsis makes it sound more serious, but they are in meteorstuck, and it’s just very very funny LOL

synopsis: basically a, “what if” different ending to homestuck. what if, instead of winning, they let their alpha selves win, and they had to stay in paradox space for the time loop? etc

thoughts: i have not finished it, but it’s honestly so well put together. it really gets you feeling bad for characters, like gamzee?? poor little guy etc. the art is amazing, and it really does just feel like a continuation of homestuck!!!

Karkat Goes to a Convention (unfinished?) (mspfa)

synopsis: just like the title says, LOL.

thoughts: i’m not sure if this story is really my jam, that being said, it’s put together WONDERFULLY. like it’s incredibly popular for a reason. you can tell so much work went into it, and just a really big love for homestuck and it’s community. while also being really creative :) (i also haven’t finished this one either, so maybe my thoughts could change!)

synopsis: sitcom of dirk and caliborns life as a married couple. and their son/son in law is coming over for dinner. shenanigans ensue

thoughts: OKAY, so i know this is the fic that prompted the ask, lol! which means i’ve already recommended it. but i decided to add it so i could post my thoughts! :D i did not have any feelings towards dirkuu when i first read this, but now whenever i see anything dirkuu i’m like, “omg…the sitcom couple…” ITS JUST SUCH A GOOD FIC. i keep overusing the word incredible in this post, but i will use it again. because this fic really is just *that good*. i made my friend voice act it out with me on call once, and it was very fun LOL. this is my final top 3 in my top three homestuck fics 🕺 again really popular, but popular for a reason. just so much thought went into it, and the execution was perfect.

thoughts: have i ever thought about shipping terezi, and jade before? admittedly, no. is this fic absolutely adorable?? yes, very much so!!! literally they both deserve the world, and it’s so cute to seem them interact with each other. again just a very very sweet fic :)

author's note: Yes, I was once a Homestuck fan, and Tricksters have forever left a mark on my brain. I do not condone unhealthy behavior in any sense! This is strictly fiction! Do not force yourself to read if you're uncomfortable.

“Do it! Do it!” 

You’re screaming, but Touya isn’t listening. He’s cackling, pressing your body to the hardwood floor, digging the dome of your head into the ground, stone, it hurts, and he’s getting loftier by the second. He’s colorful, blazing, a rainbow of colors that you squint and strain against, that makes you nauseous, carsick, and you’re choking on blood that isn’t even in the back of your throat. Saliva is thick, but Touya is real. His eyes are like moons, disco balls blasting hues spectrum red to red, and you wonder if he can truly see you in front of him. Touya’s grip tightens, but you shake your head. 

“No! Get off of me, Touya!” 

The words stay hidden behind glued teeth, a seal press that doesn’t want to pop loose because you see that strange glint in Touya’s eyes. You don’t know what it means, but you sure as hell don’t want to risk it. If you risk it, then it’s all over. You can’t open your mouth, no matter how hard he slams his thumb and index finger into the hovels of your jawbone. You think there are clouds around him, maybe more colors, sparkles, or glitter, or just a mirage of things that don’t quite make sense. A Quirk, somebody must have used their Quirk on him, but it’s terrifying. You don’t know how to fix him, what will make him stop. 

“Nuh-uh! Not until you open your mouth!”

You thrash at his squeal, and both of your legs are flailing and kicking out. Touya gets thrown off balance, but he decides to topple onto you and whine. 

“No!” 

“Big baby! Open your mouth!” 

He smells sweet, really sweet. He’s like a candy shop—he looks like candy. He’s drenched in it, candies of all kinds. Peppermint, gum, lollipops, mints, and so many more. They’re all over his body, skin a vibrant pink, hair a luscious green, and his eyes glow. They’re swirling with white worms, coiling, and you can’t help but find yourself sinking into their baby blue. He’s like a child, Touya’s acting like a child. His voice is still so deep, rough, but there’s a pitch to him that you haven’t heard in—in, you haven’t—

Touya uses his hold on your head to lift your body a fraction and pummel it back down. The thundering electricity, the momentary numbing sting, it fills your lungs and you can’t help it—you gasp. 

“Ha ha! You fell for it!” 

You don’t get the chance to comprehend what’s happening before Touya’s free hand is shoved into your mouth. Fingers wriggle in deep, you gag, and Touya starts petting the flat of your tongue a few strokes before he starts pushing something down your throat. It’s sweet, sour, spicy, bitter, and every other taste your weak mind could conjure—flesh, Touya’s flesh. When did he get that? Where did he pull that off of? His staples knock against the back of your teeth, you feel chipped, broken porcelain, and Touya just starts giggling like a little schoolgirl. He’s elated, joyful, and he leans over your body close enough, and you can feel him start to kick his feet into the air. His pressure on your body hurts, he’s suffocating you, but you’re too busy feeling the horror crawling under your skin. 

That slime of his flesh, it’s not there, it’s just your spit, and it melts in your mouth just like cotton candy. He’s candy, he’s genuine candy, and the thought is twisting your stomach. 

“Do you like it? Do ya? Say something!” 

You swallow, you don’t want to, but it happens and you start hiccuping. You just ate a piece of Touya’s flesh. You just—

“Fine. Then try another piece.” 

Touya doesn’t let you interject, he just retracts his fingers from your mouth, silly string tugging along like a ventriloquist against the fingertips, and you cough. The hefty gobs of saliva snap and slap your chin, neck, chest, and you wince. Touya doesn’t stop, he just hooks the fingers digging into your face in deep so that you can’t close your mouth again, and then he touches the burns on that arm. You stare in abhor, looking so frantically into Touya’s eyes, but there’s no thoughts staring back at you whenever he begins drumming his fingers against his limb. Once, twice, thrice, and the fourth measure is whenever he stops and claws. 

Nothing can describe the way your mind reels whenever you watch the smiles of his flat nails shovel into his flesh, underneath warbled and wrinkled burns, burns that are a mottled lavender, and pull. Touya flays his flesh off, peeling it like a newborn scab, and you watch pink, red, blue, and purple powder—sugar—spill from the wounds. He’s sand, he’s dust, he’s ash, and he’s pulling his flesh off like a piece of frazzled licorice. Touya just comes apart so easily, and he’s laughing, rocking his own socks off, and he’s swinging his head side to side like a seesaw, humming and singing the rhythm of some old children’s nursery rhyme. Both of your eyes are wide open, goodnight moon, and you can’t do anything as you watch Touya yank his flesh up and high, fruit by the foot, and you feel like you’re going to be sick. The scent of sweets, the sugar, the caramelized sodium, and Touya jerks off the piece of flesh like tape. 

It snaps, you can hear the sound, like a rubber band being thrummed, but the sound dies in the shells of your ears whenever Touya yelps and snaps his fingers forward like a viper. The longer rope of flesh flops around like a wet and soggy noodle, but it’s not the same, it’s dry, and white cream smears on the parts of your body that it touches. The sensations make you gag all over again, but that gives Touya ample opportunity to shove the flesh into your mouth, and down down down down the hatch it goes. He screams in delight. 

“Ohhh! Haha, if you like that, then you can eat the rest of me! But you have to promise you’ll take bites of me willingly if you want me to let you go! Okay, okay, you big baby? Eat me up! Eat me! I want you to eat me! Do it! Do it!” 

Candy floods your senses, blood sugar spikes, black splotches dot your vision, spasms, aches, and Touya’s begging is the last thing you see before rainbows sparkle into darkness—the flavor overwhelming, Touya, and 

“Eat me! Eat me eat me eat me eat me! Eaaaaaaaat meeee!” 

And his flavor is the last thing you remember.

SS: Keith has no one to lose except for Shiro, and he’s coming in with us, but he’s never been the most pragmatic sort.

SS: How about your end? The girls excited to team up against us?

MR: Oh, most assuredly.

MR: Acxa is putting on airs of being too mature to get excited over a game, but Zethrid and Ezor have already begun to crow over how thoroughly our team is going to squash you.

SS: Haha, they’re welcome to try! Though, in the end we’ll all be on the same team, I suppose.

MR: Another deception.

SS: Another deception. But it does give us the chance to play starcrossed lovers for a bit, mm?

MR: Sorry. I got to worrying again.

SS: About the team balancing?

MR: It’s supposed to be an even number. We’ve less than a month now until the game releases for our friends in the past, and we still don’t have the twelfth member. 

MR: We have six women and five men. Although reproduction as well as the production of ourselves and our guardians will be entirely through ectobiology, teams are kept at a balanced gender ratio meant to imitate the conditions necessary for natural reproduction of the god-species in the new world. 

SS: Lotor.

MR: And I think to myself, maybe one of our guardians is not actually a guardian but instead a player. Coran, although a fatherly figure to you (despite the thousand year gap between your respective lives), was not your actual father so maybe he would enter the game. 

SS: Lotor

MR: Or maybe Pidge will bring their brother in with them. She loves him very dearly, it would make sense for her to bring him along, and for them to play a game together. He’s friends with Shiro and Keith, he’s the right gender, roughly the same age as everyone else, it would be more than possible, but I’ve spoken with Pidge more than I usually do recently and they haven’t said a word about introducing their brother to any of the group chats and we’re running out of time.

SS: Lotor…

MR: It’s gotten to the point where I’ve started wondering if Narti’s service animal is going to bat at the keyboard of one of her spare computers and he’ll be her server player.

SS: Lotor!!!!

MR: Sorry.

SS: It will be OKAY!

SS: You’ve said it yourself a dozen times: the game does not allow for human error when it weaves its cords of fate.

SS: A twelfth player will be selected for us, the teams will be balanced, and it will be fine.

MR: Allura

MR: What if it’s not that?

MR: Twelve is the maximum number of players, but there are perfectly viable sessions with fewer.

MR: What if it’s ten?

MR: What if one of you dies?

SS: No one is going to die.

MR: The game is cruel. It could just as easily take one from our number to balance the teams as it could add another. I still think you are likely to be our Time player, so it can’t take you, but what if I’m wrong?

MR: Allura, what if you die?

SS: I am not going to die.

SS: The fact that I am here, in this empty, echoing castle, a thousand years after the end of the world, stranded in the middle of this empty, empty ocean half a world away from you, is proof that I am destined to enter into the game. 

SS: Pidge and Narti and Zethrid and Acxa and Ezor are not going to die.

SS: Like you said, the most likely course of action is that Matt will play the game with Pidge and be their server player, or they his. Even number, balanced genders.

SS: It will be okay, Lotor.

MR: I want so desperately to believe that.

SS: It Will.

MR: Thank you.

what was your dave hc for that davekat comic? just curious

okay so. two things. first of all a content warning for discussing homophobia and child abuse (i mention child sexual abuse but don’t go into detail). second of all, i read homestuck for the first time last month and i’ve never read any analysis of dave’s character, so i have no idea of what the general opinion is!

this is insanely long so it’s all under the cut, sorry if you didn’t expect this wall of text anon

i think it's pretty much explicitly canon that dave has a complicated relationship with his attraction to men, both because of internalised homophobia and because of the abuse he suffered as a child from his bro. as someone who didn’t pay much attention to dave until later pages, i want to say that his first meeting with dirk was the only moment in all homestuck that made me cry and left me with my heart stinging. i had to stop reading for a while

my comic was the result of days of thinking of how dave is a deeply repressed and traumatised boy who left earth thinking being gay is a joke, only to fall for another boy whose entire species is bisexual by default. i like to interpret dave as someone who is simultaneously uncomfortable with and yearning for intimacy – he is kinda okay with having a partner, with casually making out, but he freaks out the moment he has to talk about his feelings or take things a step further. the fact that he (as davesprite) suddenly breaks up with jade, unable to put his feelings into words for a proper explanation; the way he (pre-retcon) describes his relationship with terezi on the meteor as “a thing” and refuses to talk to karkat (or anyone) about it; the whole goddamn conversation between him and karkat and john in the final arc… this poor kid has gone through a lot

a lot of the abuse he’s suffered because of his bro is very explicit, like being denied privacy, but a lot of it is also left implied. he’s weirdly fixated on dirk being gay, not only because he wants to know how he came out, but also because learning about it made him have a realization about his bro that he refuses to even bring up in the conversation. the first though i had was that he went through some kind of sexual abuse, not necessarily involving physical touch (though it could be) but strong enough to damage his perception towards his own body. even for a headcanon in which that doesn’t happen, dave says his bro never truly loved him, and i can imagine him having never received any kind of genuine physical affection

we also have to take into account that dave’s last sight of earth was 2009’s earth. we’re in 2023 as i’m writing this and men all over the world still have a complicated relationship with affection and feelings, especially straight men towards other men. dave grew up in a time in which gay marriage wasn’t legal in the united states, in which a lot of feminist ideas were outright discarded as crazy, and he never had to question lgbt issues because all of his crushes before karkat were girls. so he left earth being not exactly homophobic but finding jokes about gay people funny, and then he was forced to live with aliens that don’t understand heteronormativity because they quite literally don’t care about gender. and on top of that, the only other human in the meteor who happens to be his sister is suddenly a lesbian, and he feels like he’s the only one who can’t come to terms with his own sexuality

as much as it’s tempting to think that dave and rose had some conversations about the topic on the meteor, to me it is much more interesting to think that they haven’t. rose is another can of worms, and i personally love that the way she sorted her feelings out is 100% up to interpretation (i have dozens of explicitly repressed lesbians to read about in other media) – however, in every possible scenario i imagine dave dying to ask her personal questions, but ultimately deciding against it because it would put him in a vulnerable position. he isn't alone, but he's been taught to believe he is

so, finally coming back to how i envisioned my davekat comic: they have made out more than once but they have never talked about how they feel about it. karkat is afraid to death of hurting dave because he apparently can’t stop hurting his loved ones! but he guesses that at this point they are both on the same page and they should take it a step further and maybe dave just needs someone else to silently take the initiative? which isn't entirely wrong (they are horny teenagers physically craving for touch), but the sudden skin-to-skin contact is too much for dave, who isn’t mentally prepared for this. and he won’t be prepared until he talks about it, but he will eventually. because he will learn that he isn't alone and he will never be

honestly, out of all things i didn’t expect when i read homestuck, the last one was a well written teenager coming to terms with the fact that he’s bisexual. i really don’t want to hear any debate about this topic, because i was genuinely touched by how human dave’s development felt and that’s the emotion i want to remember. i too have been a lgbt teenager with no words to describe my experiences, afraid of coming out to my friends, and it was very nice to read that two of the four main protagonists of homestuck are explicitly lgbt. sorry if the wording isn’t the most pleasing, i know that literally almost every homestuck character is explicitly lgbt (you could argue that all kids are), but i guess that rose and dave being *inarguably* lgbt while being so important to the story makes my heart warm. we don’t usually get stories like this that get so insanely popular. also, i hope this hasn’t come across as me reducing dave to his insecurities and sexuality, it was after all a reply to a specific question!!
