Changing gloxinia backstory canon he had an evil side before becoming one of the commandments, So gloxinia was supposed to be king but it was given to his sister instead of him since he acted too childish and was cursed to never grow up physically even by fairy terms meaning he stuck with baby wings (he’s a late bloomer like Elaine and King) this angers him every day but when he learns about a way to gain full wings he turns to the demon clan.

Turning to the demon clan changed his philosophy not only his eyes but his whole body as a result.

⭒ gloxinia definitely dotes on his significant other; always taking care of them and making sure all their wants and needs are taken care of.

⭒ constantly spoiling them. gloxinia loves giving his lover gifts, flowers, affection, ect. this would be a love language for him, especially the flowers. glox would give flowers to his beloved everyday, as soon as he sees one that he thinks his lover would like, he snatches it up to give to them.

⭒ speaking of affection, the fairy king adores affection, giving and receiving. mixed feelings about pda, definitely tones it down compared to in private but will still give a quick yet loving kiss on the cheek, a hug or put his arm around his partner’s waist.

⭒ lovessssss self-care, and absolutely loves doing self care with his significant other. bubble baths, face masks, hair treatments, you name it, he loves it.

⭒ big on keeping himself groomed, hair, wings, everything. it’s no wonder his hair and wings are perfect and this man has no problem making sure his lover is well groomed themselves, only if they’re okay with it of course. he will help keep their wings looking beautiful (if they are a fairy) as well as help wash and brush their hair whenever they want.

⭒ continuing on with the hair, one of the king’s favourite thing to do is do his significant others hair. he will always be doing new styles on his lover’s hair, as well as his personal favourite ones. he himself was kinda funny about having his haired touched at first since he needs it to be perfect at all times and cares for it so much, however, after that first time he felt his partner run their hands through his hair he became obsessed.

⭒ as fairy king, gloxinia has a lot of duties which can sometimes lead to him not seeing his beloved all day since he is so busy. of course, any chance he gets, he slips away to check up on them, give them a chaste kiss and remind them he loves them but unfortunately there’s occasions where he doesn’t get that chance. he definitely makes up for it though when he’s finished his duties for the day, giving his love whatever they desire.

⭒ glox would take his partner on cute but simple dates like berry picking, or having a relaxing stroll through the fairy king’s forest, or even just staying at home and cuddling all day.

⭒ I mentioned affection before but cuddling is definitely this mans favourite form. he could do it alllllll day. he would even skip one or two of his duties to cuddle with his beloved a little longer, this is what he lives for.

⭒ gloxinia would overall be the most amazing lover. he would be kind, caring and generous and he would love his partner until the end of time.

Since I'm an idiot who didn't know this until like 2 days ago, I don't have drawing prepared... So I'll go head with a long over-do analysis!

I've already spoken about his wings here and here so This will be a flower symbolism analysis.

Most of the Fairies I'd actually analyze seem to have 2 flower/plant symbols; one visual and one scent. But Gloxinia also have his name, making 3.

So we'll start there with

Name

Gloxinia is actually a genus of flower, rather that one species the wiki offers this image for the genus

Naming this flower "florist's gloxinia" though it's actually called "Sinningia speciosa" sometimes called "Brazilian Gloxinia". It's not even in the Gloxinia genus, though it was originally ins 1817[1]

"Incarvillea delavayi" is named "Hardy Gloxinia" or "Flowering Fern" but it's actually neither a gloxinia nor a fern...

Despite all this confusion, when you simply google "gloxinia" or "gloxinia flower" you get Sinningia speciosa so that's what I'll using since I'm comfortably confident nakaba doesn't research this crap as excessively as I do...

Now, one of my main sites for flower meanings atozflowers.com doesn't have any kind of gloxinia on it anywhere... very weird. But my other one allflorists.co.uk does! According to them gloxinia means "Love and first sight". According to daleharvey.com it also mean "a proud spirit".

"Gloxinia perennis" the one shown above that's actually in the gloxinia genus is sometimes called "Canterbury Bells" which allflosits.oc.uk says means "gratitude". However, Canterbury Bells is actually a different plant entirely...

Moving on.

Visual

Gloxinia's visual element is kinda subtle, I actually didn't know about myself till @cupidthewriter pointed it out to me. He wears a silver bracelet or cuff on his left wrist which appears to be a rose.

The short answer for rose symbolism is "love", though it can be specified by color. However silver is not a real rose color so...

Some of the colors who align with the gloxinia flower symbolism though, with some meaning "gratitude" and "love at first sight"(pink and purple here, and thornless and Bouquet Mature Blooms here). So the rose aspect seems to be a little redundant.

Scent

The wiki cites chapter 152 for the information that Gloxinia smells like ginger.

This...wound up actually being kinda difficult to work with.

The root itself, which I imagine is what's meant here, has all sorts of symbols and meanings and religious significance that I couldn't quite pin down a straight answer. Some that I ran into include "transformation and renewal, protection and purification, vitality and energy"[3]

The flowers of the ginger plant are a little more straight forward with greg.app saying "prosperity and health" and "innovation and adaptability".

According to flowerleis.com leis made from white ginger flowers symbolizes "love and affection" white a red one means "passion, tolerance and wealth".

Conclusion

So in general is seems like Gloxinia's symbolism is anything but straight forward, which seems to suit him well. Though the symbols themselves aren't really shown much in the little we see of him in 7DS.

His symbols, for all I was able to find, seem to revolve around love more than anything else. Gloxinia isn't shown to feel any sort of romantic way about anyone, but he certainly loves his sister very much, and seems to be a "ride or die" kind of friend. So I guess he's a fair icon for platonic love within 7DS, which we don't have as much of, so that's cool.
