BRUH. Who felt that earthquake on the East Coast? That is some motherfucking bullshit.

How do y’all live in earthquake prone areas? I would have a stroke. No. No bueno. My ass is never even VISITING California. No, sir. Not happening. I never want to do that again.

On an up note, I love how in NYC/Northern NJ our immediate coping mechanism is to fucking joke. Within seconds my gf send me this gif saying, “Dude. This was just me in my apartment. What the fuck was that?” 🤣

It was, by our standards, and the way I understand it is that it was a very different kind of earthquake from West Coast/other places that frequently get earthquakes. Hope y'all were okay!

As I sit here reflecting, as my chair has been rumbling all afternoon from the aftershock, I'm realizing something that probably won't surprise any of you.

I always expected to be terrified of earthquakes. But my reaction has consistently been similar to when an app that has no financial impact on me expects me to use two factor authentication: something between disgust and annoyance. 🤣🤣

Only point I've been scared is when considering consequences; i.e. are the cracks in the basement cosmetic or structural? Will I be wearing my roof when I wake up in the morning?

And it makes sense. I like boats and trains. The gentle rocking is nice in that context; comforting, even. But I'm on the ground, not the water or rails. Doesn't the ground know it's not supposed to shake? This is basic. Why can't it get that right? That's it's one thing. And it's annoying that it won't sit still.

Shit! I heard it was bad from some friend in NY, I didn't realize it was hitting NJ too! Are you and all yours doing okay??? /genq

This was from a while ago now, but yeah, it turns out I was pretty close to the epicenter, hence why it felt like a kaijuu was splitting the earth nearby ^ ^;; We're all fine! But it was a really freaky and weird experience, and this is coming from someone who has felt plenty of earthquakes before!
