i was having the shittiest mental day at work, and to top it off i had an awful customer experience in the middle of it. i practically had to hide myself in a separate task to calm down so i didn't have a breakdown on floor. i ended up back on register soon after, and not two customers later the sweetest person came up, locked eyes, and exclaimed "you have eyes like melting glaciers!"

i still haven't recovered. what the fuck. i think they thought i took it negatively because i immediately clutched at my chest to ground myself because i was caught between becoming a flustered fool and bursting into tears, and they stammered and apologized and went "sorry, its just-- they are! like melting glaciers" and im sorry? but oh my god?? that did more for my mental health than any therapy could have. i have eyes the color of melting glacial masses. holy shit.

So I added this scene when I realized I should have Lexi use her teleportation explicitly in her flashback chapter from the previous year. Though I made it canon being in Alium helps dormant powers activate, so does high emotions. And it's not like you can't use your powers in Ceteri if you don't know about them. So why not add a scene?

The bell rang, and I bolted. It wasn’t until I was halfway down the hall that I realized my next class was with both Ash and Shelby. I yelped as I suddenly smacked into a wall and fell on my butt. My thoughts abruptly stopped as I groaned, rubbing my forehead where I’d been hit and blinking as I tried to figure out where I was. “Omigod, Lexi! Are you okay?” I looked up to see Trixie Jackson, who I’d met in my social studies class. She had her hand held out to me, but I didn’t grab it, especially since in my haste to leave the locker room I’d forgotten to put on my gloves. “Yeah, I’m fine,” I said as I stood, reaching into the pockets of the teal hoodie I wore and felt relief when my hand clasped the gray gloves. “Where’d you even come from?” Trixie asked as I put them on. My head was still pounding, but the disorienting feeling went away enough for me to finally process that I was standing right outside my English class. “Like, you were just suddenly there, BOOM!” Trixie mimicked an explosion with her hands. “Girl, you must’ve been bolting across the school. Don’t you have gym? I just got out of Mrs. Korrin’s class.” She gestured to the classroom we stood beside. “Must be paying off if you’re running that fast; that’s on the other end of the school!” I was panting heavily, probably sweating through the hoodie. I unzipped it to let in more airflow as I tried to remember crossing the commons, but I couldn't no matter how hard I thought. “I just saw a flash of teal, and suddenly, you were here!” Trixie yammered on. “I knew it was you because of your jacket and backpack. It’s a good color, but man, you really like teal. Hey, you’ve been quiet for a bit, are you okay?” “Yes,” I said, finding my voice. “I’m fine. Uh,” I gestured to Mrs. Korrin’s room, “I need to get to class. I’ll, uh, seeya tomorrow.” “Seeya!” Trixie smiled and waved as she took off to class.

i felt immediate protective feelings about dude because most characters are tough on him or outright mean. don't bully him :(

i didn't realize i had romantic feelings though and kind of went on with my life afterward (by which i mean yammering about ricco).

10. if you could change one thing about your f/o’s source content, would you? what would you change?

i have exactly one criticism of rio bravo and it gas nothing to do with dude. I'd nix the relationship between chance and feathers. hell, if she wasn't one of only two female characters I'd probably nix feathers entirely (she doesn't offer much to the plot. except being dramatic, having 0 chemistry with chance, and throwing a flower pot out of a window).

tbh, i don't find the women very well written or relatable in any way but they aren't bad.

Silvio Ricci - Pretend Lover Epilogue

Insert standard amateur disclaimer here!

So this epilogue is a 'WHAT IF' story  - if Emma and Silvio were actually a couple.

On the grounds of the Benitoite castle, that white walled edifice surrounded by the sea and the ocean’s breezes, Emma is telling Silvio of a get-together that she’s been invited to by one of the Benitoite nobles. She’s been living here for awhile now, but recently she’s begun receiving invitations to social events. 

She’d like to take part, to get better acclimated to Benitoite, so over their usual breakfast in the castle gardens she’s excitedly showing him her invitation.

But for some reason - he takes it, and tears it in two. “That’s a no.” She makes an exclamation of disbelief, and he goes on with a scowl to say he can’t allow her to go alone.

“Why??” she presses.

“I just can’t.”

Angrily, she tells him that’s NOT an answer (this is becoming a common refrain for them LOL) and he tells her to quit her yammering.

As she indignantly starts to repeat that, he pulls her close and kisses her hard, as if to shut her up. 

“If I say no, the answer is no. Got it?” he asks. 

“No, I don’t ‘get it’!” she replies furiously. “This is tyranny.”

Shamelessly, he just grins and says he’s entirely okay with being domineering.

And after that, no matter how much she tried to get a WHY out of him, he kept dodging the question and she kept getting angrier and angrier.

That evening, she’s in her room, hugging her knees on her bed and heaving another in a long line of sighs. She’d had that argument with Silvio this morning, but as the day went on, she’d started to feel guilty about their quarrel. She’s hoping she gets the chance to apologize soon, because she’d said some harsh things.

She's got a bunch of dishes she's made as a gesture of apology lined up in the room, the main one of which is a fricassee. (This is the second fricassee appearance after the amnesia event so I'm guessing this is a Silvio fave?) He comes to her room every day after he's done with his duties, so she's waiting for him to show up…but he's late tonight.

Maybe, she wonders, he doesn't want to see her after their fight. In the past, after they've had a quarrel, she's gone to see him in his own rooms…but she recalls how he'd warned her not to wander around the castle alone at night, and nixes that idea.

Just as she's about to start sighing again, her door is kicked open abruptly and Silvio strolls in, looking surprised that she's hunched up on her bed.

She scolds him for scaring the heck out of her and tells him to not surprise her like that - and starts to broach the subject of their fight when she trails off into complete silence.

"What??" Silvio asks.

"Uh…what is that?" she asks, stunned by the absolutely enormous bouquet he's carrying, the largest she's ever seen. It's so big that the room is immediately awash in the scent of roses. She's taken totally aback by the spectacle, something she hadn't even seen back home in Rhodolite.

As she's still processing this, Silvio walks up and offers it to her brusquely. "Here."

Baffled, she asks if there's some kind of special occasion today.

"...You were mad at me this morning," he says.

She wonders if this is his effort at making up, and the nostalgic scent of roses fills her nose as she takes them, touched to realize she wasn't the only one worried about their fight. "Thank you, the roses are beautiful."

"Of course they are, I searched all over - " he begins proudly, before breaking off. "Uh, no, nevermind."

He'd tried to cut himself off but she's realized what he was starting to say already. That this was a land of ocean and sea, not roses - making them hard to find. Not that they didn't exist at all, but ones as beautiful and brilliant as those in Rhodolite were few and far between.

Not to mention, he'd looked for them personally, not just used money to make it simple. She's so very touched, and aloud she tells him she really loves that about him, to his shock.

She sets the flowers aside and braces herself against his shoulder, going up on tiptoe to give him a kiss. It's just a quick peck, but even that has his ears turning immediately red.

"I keep telling you, don't take me by surprise," he grumbles.

She counters that he'd taken HER by surprise that morning, and he argues that it's alright when he's doing it.

She scoffs that that's tyranny again and he smiles and tells her to be quiet - taking her arms and pulling her into a kiss.

For a tyrant, his kisses when he's not drunk are tender, and she finds herself clinging to him, letting out heated little breaths that have him remarking on how cute she is in these moments.

He's kissing her again, hands at her ears to purposefully emphasize the sound of his tongue in her mouth. The longer the kiss goes on and the deeper it grows, the hotter the heat low in her belly becomes.

All this, despite the fact that he's the sort of person who turns red at the slightest touch from her.

He finally breaks off the kiss, supporting her sagging body with a wicked laugh. "Was it really that good?"

"...Idiot," she manages to toss back, covering her face with her hands all embarrassed. He picks her up and takes a seat in the chair, arranging her on his lap so that her already red face grows even hotter.

"I'll have my fill of you later," he promises, noting that if they don't eat the actual food she made soon it'll get cold.

She asks if she won't be in the way of his eating, on his lap like this, and he agrees - it'll be difficult, so she'll just have to feed him.

She's thinking ohh, I get it. That's what he wanted all along - and even though it's so imperious of him she can't help smiling. The fact that he wants to eat her food while it's still hot (aka respects her effort) is something else she finds endearing.

She feeds him a bite of the fricassee, noting how he manages to look impossibly elegant even when being fed by someone else…and she broaches the subject that's been on her mind, saying there's just one thing she wants to know.

"Why I didn't want you going to that party alone?" he supplies, and when she agrees he puts his head down on her shoulder, hiding his face…and admits it was because he was worried about her.

She's silent for a long while, and he's kinda anxiously apologetic - but on a chuckle she waves it off.

Which earns her a red-faced scowl. "Don't laugh."

And maybe because he's embarrassed, he bites her on the shoulder. But it doesn't hurt in the slightest, and she keeps on smiling.

It's a lost cause, she tells herself…she just loves him too much. And she apologizes for the things she says too, before thanking him and getting a pleased smile in return.

No matter how much he upsets her, she can't stop loving him…and they end that night on a far far happier note than the day had begun that morning.

hydrangea: what inspired you to begin writing in the first place?

To be honest, I’m not even sure. When I was really young (probably about age six), I wrote these stories about three siblings and their adventures in giant lettering on pieces of notebook paper — it was the “Amanda, Amy, and Bobby” series — and I’ve never looked back. I just love to make people feel something through my characters because I’ve gotten so much joy out of doing so myself.

sunflower: what is the best feedback/compliment you’ve ever received regarding your writing?

Well, it depends on what type of writing is receiving feedback. I write songs, poetry, original novels, and fanfiction. Since I’m mostly referencing my fanfiction on this site, I’ll go with that.

Like I mentioned before, it’s definitely when people comment that they FELT something. Knowing that I write the characters well or that the plot is well-developed is helpful and MUCH appreciated, but when the feedback is a mix of jumbled words among squeals of happiness or painful, angsty silent sobs, that’s what I like to hear. I don’t know about you, but I feel everything I read and write so physically in my body. When I know someone else had the same reaction from my work, I know it’s a job well done.

petunia: who is your favorite character to write for? why?

Oh, man. Obviously, this question varies between fandoms.

Band of Brothers has so many wonderful characters that it’s hard to choose, but believe it or not, I LOVE writing Nix. I have very few fics featuring him, but his hilarious, sarcastic nature but broken vulnerability makes him a very dynamic character.

I doubt I’ll ever post it, but I started my Band of Brothers fanfiction run by writing a never-ending fic featuring Winters and a female OC very closely based off of myself (it’s easy to write yourself, of course. I just change the name and allow for any changes to my own personality). The story ran through most of the series (I never finished it), just with my character pretending to be a male to fight in the army all while having a secret romance with Winters. I think the only reason I kept writing that fic was because I LOVED writing Nix and my OC’s interactions… I’m very much like Nix in my personality, so it was super fun to write.

My one friend who listens to me yammer on about Band of Brothers fanfiction even though she really doesn’t care (bless her heart) actually read it and REALLY enjoyed this one slightly-flirtatious Nix/OC scene. She suggested I try out a love triangle fic with Winters/Nix/OC, and I started it. I ended up touching more on Nix’s vulnerability, and loved it equally as much as his humor in my first story.

Then I became susceptible to all of the major ships of the fandom and never looked back.

Anyway, super long-winded answer, but Nix. (However, I love myself some Luz just because he’s so cute).

this is gonna be a rambley mess, but this is driving me up the wall and i need to figure this out while i still have internet for the moment-- does anyone else remember a book series that had to do with a male teen protag who’s family/small part of family (i want to say aunt?? i remember an aunt being very important) were like,, guardians of dragons? theres some very distinct memories of the dragons either being able to turn into small clay figurines/sculptures, or they were born from the sculptures. i think a house fire or attack on the home where they kept the dragons in their mini figure forms safe was a major plot point somewhere, idk why that stands out. i also vividly remember the cover art having a single large dragon eye on the front with the rest of the books each being a different color for a different dragon. every so often i remember these scraps of memories from my middle school years and i remember i really vibed with the books, but i honestly remember so little beyond that bit of info that im not sure if they were actual books or if i just dreamed these up. please tell me someone else knows what im talking about, i have to figure this out
