Which cars are most bisexual?
Ever get the chilling feeling that you made a grave mistake long ago and you are about to reap what you sowed?
In short, I hit some of my friends up to ask for help. In random alphabetical order:
@jettacar suggested the fourth gen Nissan Quest:
"It's like, no one really bought these. They aren't particularly common. But also, there's no one type of person that buys a car like this. Rationality would have you believe only families are buying this, because it's a giant minivan - but i can't immediately think of another car with a wider variety of types of people that own them right now (excluding cars that just sell incredibly well)"
Unfortunately, that made the conversation derail into minivan talk.
Up next, @rabidragon suggested the Fiat Multipla, due to its peculiar seating arrangement of two rows of three seats:
"3 seats in the front for you and your man and your woman".
Indeed, the peculiar thing about the Multipla is its row of three full-sized seats in front (many old cars had a front bench with some having three lap belts, but the Three Individual Front Seats club is as exclusive as it is devoid of prestige) and the many peculiarities that it caused, like off-center pretty much everything (mirror included) because the driver is further to the side than usual and where most of the centered things go there's now a passenger who would like to be.
But the even more peculiar thing about the Multipla is how spectacularly ugly it is. It's one of the few cars I've ever actually seen that manages to be full-on ugly not just outside but inside. Click on any list of ugliest cars in the world and if it doesn't contain the Multipla I can promise you that list was created by a machine that has since been physically shot. And if you're thinking "Well, it's not bad enough to warrant that hyperbole" - you are looking at the second generation. This is the pretty one. I put the first one and its interior at the end of the post under a read more because I genuinely did not want to be responsible for you seeing it.
I noted that Honda's FR-V managed the same seating layout with downright smart looks inside and out...
...and unfortunately that made the conversation derail into engine swap regulation loopholes.
Finally, @chevyventure suggested multiple. In (roughly) his words:
First generation Mazda 3 "It's a hatchback, good for many different uses - and Mazda is a little silly, charming and off the beaten path (if you were getting a Japanese hatchback you'd probably get a Toyota or a Honda) with a cute lil' smile like a Miata"
1988 Volvo 240 Wagon "Volvos are frequent hand me downs from family like all the cool childhood trauma the LGBTQs get"
[Editor's Note: bro.]
Renault Clio "It's peak hotness while also being cute in its own way, not necessarily preferring a masculine or feminine audience. I've never seen an ad for a Clio before, but if my assumptions about the car market are correct my guess is the normal one is kinda marketed towards women"
[Editor's note: So, I wanted to check that, so I just looked up "Renault Clio ad". These were the first two ads I found.
youtube
youtube
So yeah. I feel it qualifies.]
Unfortunately, talking about the Clio made the conversation derail into TWR's involvement in- oh wait, you're not gonna know about that Clio variant, are you.
So, many racing series can only be entered with racecars based on some production car - which is great for manufacturers, because they get to advertise their brand and one of their models simultaneously! But since there are rules on how much of the base car can be changed and how much of it must be retained, the stricter they are the more what you want as a base for your racecar is something high performance. So when you want to go racing with a dinky little thing like, say, first car to ever use plastic bumpers and only car to ever be called Renault Le Car in America Renault 5...
...what you are going to want to do is what, among many others, Toyota did with the Yaris GR and Lancia did with the Delta: the homologation special. Basically, you make a special version of the car with the characteristics you'd want in racing, sell enough to clear the rules's bar for "production car" (or at least, convince the officials you've done that), and go racing with that. So Renault did that to the 5 and hit up one Marcello Gandini to redesign it around the changes. You know, Marcello Gandini, guy most famous for designing mid-engined Ferrari-slayers:
Which makes sense, because the Renault 5 Turbo was a mid-engined Ferrari slayer. It was faster than the top-of-the-line Ferrari both in acceleration and in cornering speed. This thing.
(sidenote: The Interior. end of sidenote)
Well, twenty years on, some legend at Renault thought "You know what? We were onto something with that. Let's do that again but HARDER." Presumably, into the headquarters of Tom Walkinshaw Racing, a racing team that developed for Aston Martin, F1 teams, and made Jaguar's Fastest Production Car Ever record holder, and of course a fuckton of the most exciting racecars around, showed up uninvited that Renault madman saying "Y'all wanna work on something REAL prestigious?" before chucking them the keys to a second generation Clio and walking off with a "Don't thank me".
The result was the Clio V6, most notable for HAVING A FUCKING V6 WHERE THE BACKSEATS WERE. This car is genuinely incredible. Like, you see it and you go "Ooh ahh, the Clio V6!" and you look inside to see, you know, the huge V6 compartment thing and you see the interior and you realize this thing cost good sportscar money and when you got in it was a fucking Clio.
Mental stuff- wait shit this post was about bisexual cars wasn't it? How did the conversation derail like this? I swear this never happens. Well, I guess it's time for my pick.
Personally, chatting with Mr. Venture about hatchbacks, I realized that I cannot think of a more "girls car" than a Fiat 500 Cabriolet (which actually is called 500C) and cannot think of a more "boys car" than a Fiat 500 Abarth (which actually is called Abarth 500)...
...so how about the Fiat 500 Cabriolet Abarth?
It actually isn't called that but I think you could piece that together. As though a spoiler on a canvas roof wasn't weird enough, it contains the third brake light, probably making this the only car out there in which it can change position during use. Although I assure you, you're not gonna be thinking about that when driving it. Thing's a RIOT.
But honestly, that wasn't what I started off wanting to answer. So, last but most definitely not least, I candidate my first, gut-reaction answer: the NA Mazda Miata.
See, to me bisexuality (and pansexuality, but awareness of the nuances between them is so low they may as well be picked over flag preference) is someone appreciating all the beauty in the world, seeing no point in gatekeeping themselves out of half of it. And is that not what a spider is about? Is it not about saying "this world we're in is so full of beauty, who would rather blind themselves to half of it?". And look at the damn thing. It's bursting with exactly the kind of joie de vivre one would associate with such sentiment. It oozes enthusiastic curiosity. OwO what's this?: The Car.
Also, just look at this picture.
It can drift. IT CAN WINK. IT CAN WINK MID-DRIFT. I mean, what more than this degree of flirtatious playfulness can you possibly need to be convinced?
Links in blue are posts of mine explaining the words in question - if you liked this post, you might like those!
...
...are they gone? I think they're gone.
The Multipla pictures are down here. Go on then if you're gonna, you sick fuck.
If you have dealt with traumatic tumor-related experiences and seeing that dashboard caused you genuine discomfort, well, do not say I didn't warn you.

ok this is kinda long & rambling & not really what i wanted it to be bc my brain was half hanging out the entire time & i was too impatient to wait for it to squeeze back in
[stuffing]
"Are you sure that's enough potatoes?"
"Shut up," said Alfie as he chopped up the last potato in the bag, and Marsha laughed.
"Hey, I just wanna make sure you're not gonna leave the table hungry," she teased, slipping her hand between the undone bottom buttons of his shirt and giving his soft belly a friendly squeeze.
"You're gonna be the one leavin' hungry if you don't watch it," he said, turning to plant a kiss on her cheek.
"Hey, you two, play nice," said Max, clacking his tongs at them. Marsha and Alfie exchanged a knowing smile, then engulfed Max in a double bear hug, drawing a grunt out of him as they squeezed him tight.
Some people might have supposed the chances of Alfie leaving the table hungry were slim to none, given that he'd eaten a few donuts at work not that long ago and lunch not long before that. Those same people would likely have been unfamiliar with Alfie's appetite. Marsha supposed he could have eaten half a bakery and still been hungry for dinner. Fortunately, there was plenty to go around tonight: a hefty chicken, a big pan of broccoli, asparagus, and squash, and an enormous pot of Alfie's famous mashed potatoes for good measure.
Despite his still-slightly-full stomach, Alfie's appetite was perfectly intact, and he put himself together a nice big plate before joining his partners at the table. His belly rumbled. He was far from starving, but mashed potatoes were a weakness of his, and he'd been thinking about them all day. Sitting down with a big scoop on his plate, he gladly dipped his fork into it and took a bite.
"You would not believe the idiot day I had at work," said Max, cutting a bite of chicken. "Somebody decided to let a live lobster loose in the hallway. You know who had to go wrangle it?"
"I like the mental image of you wrangling a lobster," laughed Marsha. "Get someone to record it next time, I wanna see."
"Please, it's probably all over Snapchat or whatever the kids are on anymore."
"Imagine that. Our Maxie, a star," grinned Alfie, patting him on the back. Max rolled his eyes.
"And what'd you all do today?"
"I didn't wrangle any lobsters but I did have to wrangle a cat," said Marsha. "This dumbass brought him in without a carrier. Like a cat's gonna sit patiently in a waiting room full of other animals."
"People are ridiculous," said Max, shaking his head. He turned to Alfie. "How about you, what'd you wrangle?"
"Just Leon's decrepit Nissan," said Alfie. "It broke down in the Dollar General driveway, he and that bitchy old queen he's always got on his arm had to shove it all the way up the little incline."
"He still has that thing? How has it not just fallen to pieces yet?"
"Because he keeps bringin' it to me! I am so sick to death of that stupid car."
"Hey, he's keeping you in business," said Marsha.
The three went on chattering away as they ate, and Alfie was so caught up in the conversation that he managed to clear his plate completely without even realizing it. He looked down at the empty plate, surprised, then, after a moment of consideration, got up for a sizable second scoop of potatoes. He was far from hungry now, but the food had yet to lose its appeal, and there was more than enough left in the pot; it only made sense to have a little extra.
"How are you not full yet? I don't think I'm even gonna be able to finish what's on my plate," said Max.
"Oh, do you even hear yourself? Alfie doesn't get full," Marsha teased.
"Well, take the rest of mine," said Max, sliding his plate over to Alfie. "I'm stuffed."
Alfie's stomach capacity was impressive, but the extra potatoes alone were enough to fill him up after starting the big meal on a not-so-empty stomach. He could feel the waist of his pants beginning to tighten around his belly, but that wasn't going to stop him from finishing off Max's scraps. It was only a little bit, after all; it would be silly to put them back with the rest. And besides, Alfie was never one to back down from a challenge, even if it wasn't really a challenge at all. Despite the heavy feeling swelling in his stomach, he went on eating.
It was rare for Alfie to really feel stuffed, but as he finished off the last few bites of Max's dinner, he found that feeling growing closer. His belly felt taut and packed, bulging out firmly now against his jeans. He was glad to be done as he scooped up the last little bite of broccoli, feeling utterly stuffed and ready to quit, when Marsha's plate suddenly joined the other two in front of him.
"I think I'm done," she said, leaning back in her seat. "You can have the rest of mine."
Alfie held a tentative hand against his belly. It pushed out impressively against his shirt, sticking out so far that it pressed against the table when he leaned forward to accept the plate. There wasn't much on it--Marsha's appetite was considerably bigger than Max's, albeit still smaller than his--but right now, those few bites of chicken and potato seemed like an enormous amount. Still, it was in front of him, and it was only a tiny bit. Reluctantly, he picked his fork up again and got to work.
Getting through Marsha's leftovers wasn't easy, but Alfie managed it. Each bite stretched his stomach just a little bit further, and the pressure building inside his belly was becoming increasingly uncomfortable. He was so concentrated on putting away those few little bites that he didn't even notice Max leaving the table to retrieve the gluten free cake he'd made the night before.
"Ooh, fancy," said Marsha, admiring the shapely dessert.
"Figured I oughtta put somethin' together since we were makin' a nice dinner." Max cut each of them a small piece and distributed the plates. Alfie's overstuffed belly let out a soft gurgle of dismay. If he hadn't been out of space before taking Marsha's scraps, he certainly was now. His stomach felt drum-tight, pushing out round and firm and straining the waist of his jeans, and he half-doubted he'd even be able to get up from the chair. Still, he couldn't resist at least a bite of the dessert. Max was an excellent baker, after all, and the slice was already cut.
The first bite of the cake, though delicious, went down hard, and his stomach groaned uncomfortably as it struggled to fit it. The second bite was even more difficult. Finally, after forcing down a third bite, Alfie set down his fork and leaned back in his seat, his round tummy bulging absurdly out in front of him.
"What, you're not gonna finish?" Marsha gave him a perplexed look. Alfie shook his head, resting a hand on his belly.
"I can't fit another bite," he confessed. Marsha looked surprised, then amused.
"Why, Alfie Shannon," she teased, pointing her fork at him. "I didn't think that belly of yours had a limit!" Alfie halfheartedly stuck his tongue out at her, then slumped down in his seat, both hands sitting atop his tummy.
It wasn't until the three of them finally got up from the table that Marsha and Max realized just how much Alfie's belly was sticking out. He felt heavy and sleepy, weighed down by the enormous mass of food stretching his stomach. Still, he helped clean up, albeit moving a lot more slowly than usual.
"Poor Alfie, look at that big belly," said Marsha, giving his distended tummy a gentle pat. "Go lay down, we've got it."
"I'm fine," said Alfie, but when she insisted again, he didn't argue. His belly was aching now that he was up and moving, and he wanted nothing more than to sprawl out on the couch, which he gladly did. His round tummy stuck straight up from his stocky frame, the lower half exposed between the undone bottom buttons of his shirt. With a soft grunt, he reached down and unbuttoned his pants. It didn't do much to relieve the pressure, but at least the jeans were no longer digging into his skin.
It didn't take long for the other two to finish straightening up the kitchen, and they were soon sitting on either side of their mouthy little partner. Marsha lifted his head to lay it on her lap, and he looked up at her, a rare softness in his dark eyes. She smiled down at him and placed a hand on his belly.
"Y'know, you're pretty cute when you're too full to mouth off," she said, patting his tummy. It made a heavy thumping sound, packed solid after the enormous meal.
"I'd say the same to you, but I don't think I've seen it yet," he said, nothing but fondness in his voice.
"Hey, watch it or I'm gonna start squeezing."

A Night In Tokyo With Mick Schumacher and A Mercedes 190E Evo II
Driving around Tokyo is daunting. With no centre or suburbs, its road network is huge, spiralling, occasionally latticed and sometimes subterranean. At times, even Mr Roboto in the satnav gives up and shrugs directions your way. Which has happened. Meaning I'm lost while leading Mick Schumacher (behind the wheel of a stunning Mercedes 190E 2.5-16 Evolution II) through Japan's neon-lined labyrinth. It's a hot, humid evening and Mercedes F1's reserve driver (and son of iconic seven-time Formula One world champion Michael Schumacher) is cutting the perfect shape of a 90s boyband member. Where I'm perspiring like a burst pipe, he palms back his blonde curls and looks effortlessly cool in his loose-fitting, oversized Tommy Hilfiger contractual clobber. Sartorially, it couldn't be more of a perfect fit for the car he's driving. Born out of German touring cars, the Evo II is a deeply lustworthy, boxy and bewinged sports saloon. With a revvy, induction-tastic 232bhp four-cylinder engine mated to a dog leg close-ratio five-speed manual, rear-wheel drive and aero appendages that get petrolheads salivating, it's a proper tip one's hat 'if you know, you know' car. Mercedes only built 502 of them (as per DTM's homologation rules) out of some 1.9 million W201 models that it's based on, so they're properly rare beasts. The fact we've got a quadruplet of Evos following Mick makes the situation we're in a bit more mind-blowing. But that's the plan. We wanted to give Mick an evening to remember, to take him away from the repetition and rigmarole of modern media junkets. We don't want to know where he keeps his ketchup, or when the last time he thought of the Roman Empire was. We want to indulge his love for cars.
"I went looking for an Evo II to buy but decided against it… for now," Mick says in his soft, geographically hard to place international accent. "It's a beautiful car and has huge sentimental value to me, the main reason being that my dad had one as a company car when he was a Mercedes junior. He spent a lot of time doing lots of laps on the Nordschleife with Heinz-Harald Frentzen. I remember within a month they had to change the brake pads and things with the engine. So it's an emotionally important car to me." Growing up in Gland, Switzerland, Mick struggles to pinpoint exactly when he got bitten by the road car bug. "Honestly, I don't really know where I got into them. Driving them around the property as a child was a big factor. The first time I had a steering wheel in my hand from a road car was maybe four or five years old, on my dad's lap. I got to drive very nice cars, very soon and very early. I guess it just grew naturally. Especially when I turned 18; then it really turned into an obsession." Raised on a healthy diet of racing, the Fast and Furious franchise and gaming, Mick picked up a penchant for JDM cars by proxy. "I just love how raw and simple they are," he says. "I enjoy playing around with them, changing stuff, tuning them and making them more fun to drive." Knowing this, we head out of Tokyo towards Chiba to meet Japan's most inconspicuous bad boy: Kazuhiko 'Smokey' Nagata. Tobacco and turbo enthusiast Smokey is one of Japan's legendary tuners. He and his company Top Secret have modified every generation of Nissan GT-R, including an R33 Skyline GT-R that managed 0–186mph in 17 seconds at Yatabe test track and 204mph in Tokyo's famous Aqualine tunnel. Like Smokey, Mick is also a GT-R fanboy, with some tucked away in a shed at home, including his R34 drift car.
"I've really got into drifting. As an F1 driver, drifting, or oversteer, is the opposite of what you want to do, but if you control it and have the feel for it, it can really help you. So I took the step of saying 'I want to try it' after the 2019 Race of Champions skill race. I was quite good, finishing second against rally drivers and everything, so I thought, 'Okay, maybe I should try this a bit more,' so I got my own car and started enjoying sideways. I love the sensation of connecting turns and being in a difficult situation, because obviously the car is upset, to then be able to control it. I think that's what's so intriguing. It's a good feeling." Mick's curiosity and JDM love resonates as he wanders around Smokey's GT-R littered shop. Not being able to speak Japanese, Mick uses international hand signals for car nuts to explain various car parts, gets out his phone to show Smokey his cars before stumbling upon Smokey's VR32 GT-R (an R32 with all the mechanics and interior of the R35 transplanted) and trying to find a way to import it into Switzerland. But we've got no time for this, as we've got the legendary Bayshore Route to hit and a car meet to get to. For someone so young, 24-year-old Mick is at a rather quiescent point in his career. Having had a triumphant run in his youth coming second in karting in the World, European and German Junior Championships, then switching to Formula 4 in 2015 and finishing second overall in both the German and Italian F4 championships, before becoming European Formula 3 Champion in 2018 and FIA Formula 2 Champion in 2020, Mick made it to the big leagues and bagged himself a seat in F1 with Haas. It wasn't easy. In 2022 Mick lost his seat after a difficult second season that saw him struggle to match teammate Kevin Magnussen for form. He recorded a best finish of sixth in Austria, one of two points finishes during the season, but it was not enough to save his seat. For 2023, Mick dropped his Ferrari junior ties and linked up with Mercedes (the last team his father raced for in F1), picking up the role of reserve driver.
"Being a reserve driver gives you tremendous insight, especially at Mercedes," Mick says. "I miss driving, I'm not going to lie, but the main thing I've learned since moving from Haas to Mercedes is how the team operates, the tools they have, how they use them and the communication. They're big learning points. It has opened my eyes in a lot of ways and has made it clear why Mercedes is as successful as it is. The worst part is sitting in the garage and seeing everybody drive out and do what you love to do." Part of Mick's remit is to join Mercedes trackside at all F1 race. That's how we're able to blat around Tokyo for a night before he heads to Suzuka to support the team. But time in Merc's state-of-the-art sim back in Brackley is also key. Mick was praised by Mercedes' technical director James Allison for a 2 am shift he did during the British GP weekend, turning the car's "woeful" one-lap pace on Friday into a competitive car and set-up for Lewis Hamilton and George Russell to compete with during quali and the race on Sunday. With every mile behind the Evo II's wheel, Mick's smile grows to match the width of its monstrous rear wing, especially when he realizes it shoots flame on the overrun after a 7,600 rpm toll booth roll out. We cross over to Yokohama and swirl down a concrete pillared plughole, arriving in an unsuspecting parking lot that doubles up as the epicentre of cool Japanese car culture in Japan: Daikoku PA. Mick, having never been to a car meet before, has his eyes widened. Even though it's a school night, the place is pumping. Mick walks around curiously, showing his girlfriend, Danish model Laila Hasanovic, Veilside-kitted Mazda RX-7s, how riveted wide arch Liberty Walk bodywork hangs from an R35 GT-R for the ultimate kerbside stance, and the extended provenance from the flood of awesome, rare Mercedes (including the original 190E Evo I, an AMG-clad W124 and a custom Cosworth 2.5 boasting Penta wheels and Brabus brakes) that are all parked honourably in their uniform herringbone bays. As Mick gets under the bonnets and kindly signs carbon airboxes for marginally hysterical owners, I wonder if he's handy with the spanners.
"I wish I was," he says, "but I don't have the time. I'm starting to bring more of my cars over to my place so that I eventually will be able to work on them myself and change things that I want to change. Currently, I am very good at taking things apart… maybe less gifted at putting them back together." But since the meteoric rise of social media and documentaries like Netflix's Drive to Survive, racing drivers' personalities have been mainlined into public consciousness. Nowadays, it appears drivers' human interests need to be put on display like the plastic dishes outside Daikoku's service station restaurant windows. Yet here, tonight, Mick seems completely at home and relaxed. "It's risky because I feel like I'm a very private person. I like my privacy. Sometimes when you get people wanting to know more, they get a bit too snoopy. I feel it should be my choice how much I share, and what I share, not people trying to figure that out for me." In this job you get to sniff out the car nuts from the blaggers, and Mick's passion is palpable. It's refreshing to see, and a welcome break from the headlines and hearsay currently surrounding him given he's caught in a gloopy limbo where F1 politics, money and raw talent are all currently fighting each other to work out where he'll race next.
As I type, Mick's currently linked with an LMDh drive with Alpine in next year's World Endurance Championship, a move Mercedes F1's big boss Toto Wolff is fine with, as Mick is "part of the family" and "will always have a home." Mick's tone becomes more forlorn when talking about the future, obviously having had a tough few years and aching to get back into an F1 car. I wonder if it takes its toll, and how he pushes through in times of uncertainty. "Having the right people around you," he says. "You need to try and be mentally in the right space and try and get the best out of the situation so that you can, whenever it's necessary, be in the position that you can jump in and be ready to go." After an evening with Mick, you can't help but wish him the best of luck. If all else fails, he could always lean into drifting and see where that takes him. Sideways Schuey. Has a good ring to it, doesn't it?

Aqua Teen Hunger Force #94: “Hands on a Hamburger” | March 22nd, 2010 - 12:00AM | S08E06
Hands on a Hamburger has the Aqua Teenagers doing a “hands on a Hardbody” style contest, a real thing where a group of people have to outlast keeping their hands on a Nissan Hardbody truck in order to win said truck. There’s a documentary about it. It’s supposed to be very good. I’ve made a point to find it a few times, only never to actually watch it. Maybe I actually should.
The prize at the end of this contest is a giant hamburger, which is sitting on the ground of the Dazzleburger parking lot. Shake manages to use his Bugs Bunny-style wiles to dishonestly eliminate other contestants, who are all humans who I think are playing themselves. There’s a lot of “human” cameos in this, including Matt Maiellaro as a pizza delivery man, and Dave Willis as a contestant. One guy, a soldier wearing fatigues who gets tricked by Shake into doing push-ups, I suspect is the military man who sat in on the audio commentary for “Marines”. I was going to try and get his name for this write-up, but the disc containing that episode’s commentary track no longer plays. Whoops.
This one has a pretty fair amount of laughs, and the episode more-or-less stays as funny as it should. Frylock telling Meatwad to shut the fuck up (I like it). Shake gratuitously smashing the window of the automatic sliding door of the restaurant while on a bathroom break (he casually detaches his hand to perform this cheat) (I also like it). The gags where Shake outsmarts various contestants is maybe a little out of character; I like to think of Shake as a guy whose only capable of tricking Meatwad and maybe, sometimes, Carl. The humor there is a little uncharacteristic of the show in general, but it wound up working for me well enough.
This one ends with a surprise reveal: the big hamburger is actually Dr. Wongburger, (first seen in Dickesode, later seen in the tooth one that's not as good) and his plan is to take the winner of the contest away to his home planet. Frylock gratuitously murders Phil, the guy overseeing the contest. He’s voiced and, I assume, is based on Phil Samson, an editor for the show. His bland delivery works well.
I wonder if this one was designed to fit as many promised cameos as they could stuff in there, anticipating an eventual cancellation. I wonder, but I don't know. I surely do not know.

Veiled Vanguard Drama Track 1 - Bare to the World
Part 2
【 Road on the Outskirts of Obihiro City 】
Jack Verrill believed it was a wonderful day to begin a new chapter. It was a sunny morning, still freezing due to Hokkaido’s average cooler temperatures. It wasn't anything Jack and Daiki were not accustomed to, coming from a generally chilly, cold country.
Today’s errand was to check on the young man’s horse, Milo, over at the Spur Stud Ranch. Much to the complaints of the young man in question as he whined in the backseat of the Nissan Fuga the Kamiyama family had entrusted to the pair.
Daiki: Do we really have to go so early? It’s seven in the morning!
Jack: Young master, Milo doesn’t know what ‘sleeping in’ means. It’s best to come to the property in the morning if we want to go for that morning ride. Its important you catch up with your horse.
With another groan from the young man and a complaint about missing his show, Jack could only smile and drive on. It wasn’t long before Daiki’s excited shouts would point out the fenced pastures that the horses had yet to roam on, the two knew they were almost at their destination
【 Spur Stud Main Barn 】
Daiki: Milo! I missed you so much!
The shout at the barn entrance earned many startled snorts and whinnies from the other horses. Rushing down, the horses panicked further, with Jack unable to do anything to calm the overgrown man-child.
Jack: Young master, you must lower your voice-
Daiki: Milo!!!
Exasperated, Jack could only sigh as he watched the horse in question let out a high-pitched cry equally loud as Daiki. The two embraced, with Daiki leaning over the stall to grab at Milo’s face and Milo pushing his snout into the man.
Ken Otake: Ain’t that lovely… Glad to see he still cares for that horse.
Jack turns to find an older gentleman, smiling and shaking his head at the reunion. Once he recognizes the man’s face, Jack flashes a polite grin and greets him.
Jack: Mr. Otake. It’s good to see you’re doing well.
Ken Otake: No thanks to the Kamiyama family spending a pretty penny on us! It’s been a while Jack.
Jack: Likewise… I see that Milo’s well cared for.
Ken Otake: Sure is! He’s been getting better lately too!
Jack: Better?
Ken Otake: Health wise actually! We hired a new stablehand who has been working on Lucien’s request to keep Milo’s legacy alive. Getting him ready to pair with another horse, if you know what I mean.
Jack: O-Oh my. And that’s… Good?
Ken Otake: Good? It’s great! That horse was bordering on overweight for a while when that kid would visit more frequently. Now he’s at a healthy weight and his diet has been perfect! Not to mention his coat is looking better and better.
Jack couldn’t help but narrow his eyes at the implication that the horse’s weight was the fault of Daiki, which the man was quick to notice and laughed.
Ken Otake: And it’s not the fault of your young master, don’t worry. It’s actually thanks to Hisoka keeping a careful watch on Milo. The damn horse has been sneaking off the pasture to eat the missus’s sugar beets and-
The butler perks up at the name.
Jack: Hisoka?
Ken Otake: Hisoka Tetsumasu! The new stablehand. Or I should say breeder since that’s what he’s working towards. I tell you, he’s practically in love with all these horses with how dedicated he is. If only he were here now…
Jack: Is he absent?
Ken Otake: Shouldn’t be! He went off to open up this package he got from Chuohku. Said it’s from his ma or something.
Jack: I see. Should I try to check on him?
Ken Otake: Really? Sure, if ya don't mind! He's at the living quarters down the path. Stay on the right, the left path leads to an unused part of the property.
A curt smile and nod, Jack entrusted the care of Daiki to the barn manager as he set off to find the new stable boy and Jack's coincidental person of interest…
【 Spur Stud Abandoned Barn 】
…Hisoka Tetsumasu, former second in command of illegal weapons market, ENAN. Pinned underneath the butler, the tanned man struggled under the surprising weight of the green haired butler.
Jack: That's no way to greet a guest, Mr. Tetsumasu.
Grunting, Hisoka's resistance starts to waver feeling helpless underneath this stranger.
Hisoka: W-Why should I welcome someone trying to k…kill me?
A sadistic smile spreads across Jack's expression. So the ex-black market dealer was fearful for his life? Seemed that the rumors were true. Without a word, Jack's arms moved down from his arms quickly to his chest. Grasping the fabric of his shirt, the material starts to give underneath the man's grip and-
Hisoka: What-What are you-
RIIIPPPP!
In one clean motion, the black turtleneck is shredded to pieces, exposing a now very flustered Hisoka.
Hisoka: W-W-W-WHAT?
Completely shocked, the redhead moves to cover his bare torso. The last thing he was expecting was to get molested before his death. What sick, twisted people worked for Chuohku?! Unfortunately for Hisoka, he wasn't quick enough to cover his pecs up. Pinned back once again, Jack holds his arms with one hand, the other tracing Hisoka's body.
Jack: So this is…
Hisoka: O-Oh my god, please just kill me? I'd rather just die than be t-touched by a stranger in t-t-this way!
Scrunching his eyes shut, Hisoka feels the soft material of the butler's glove trace over from his left pectoral down to his right side…
Side?
Opening his eyes, Hisoka finally realizes that the purple-eyed creep was tracing over his scars and observing them. Like a doctor inspecting wounds…
Jack: …What happened?
Hisoka: S-Sorry?
Jack: What triggered the attack?
Finally making eye contact, Hisoka was surprised to see that within his stern gaze, a look of concern was hidden much deeper.
Hisoka: You… You know?
Jack: Bloody… Answer me. What. Triggered. The attack.
Hisoka: I-I don't know! One moment everything was fine, then the next…
Jack: Fine, then what name did he go under?
Increasingly confused and frustrated by the butler's questions, Hisoka finally manages to push him away. Sitting up, he shouts.
Hisoka: Hell if I know?! It was an attack by some freak two years ago! Why the fuck are you interrogating me?
Jack: He is not…!
For some reason that line of questioning seemed to have struck a nerve. Kneeling in front of Hisoka, Jack stops himself to ponder his words before carefully speaking.
Jack: It is not a freak. It is… Something important.
Hisoka: What is he to you?
Jack: It is a target.
Despite the contradictory words between defending this man yet dehumanizing him by regarding him as “it”, it was clear that beneath the harsh words, the green-haired man cared for the subject.
Jack: I've been assigned to retrieve and bring it back to my home country. It is a lost asset my team has been working to retrieve for years now.
Hisoka: Years?
Hisoka glowers at that detail. He isn't able to dwell on it however, as the butler brushes it off.
Jack: The details don't concern you, alright? Look, could you just tell me anything of value? Anything.
Hisoka: I could tell you what he looks like? Since that monster you lost fucking haunts my dreams.
Jack: I already know those dull details, I mean where the hell did it go?
Squinting, Hisoka hums in thought whilst gripping the shreds of his shirt to his torso.
Hisoka: Why should I tell a Chuohku agent?
That seems to give Jack some pause for once. Silence hung over the barn for an uncomfortable moment, as Hisoka pressed.
Hisoka: Well? Are all Chuohku agents a bunch of perverts?
Jack: Wait, you thought- The pleading…
Standing up and stepping back, the butler stares down at the disheveled horse breeder muttering to himself. Jack then suddenly goes quiet, covering the lower half of his face. Hisoka nervously watched as Jack's body slowly started to shake and then full-on rattled with laughter as he burst into a fit. All Hisoka could do was stare up at the butler flabbergasted.
Hisoka: W-What's so funny?!
Jack: Oh… Dear me, you thought… I was… No, you oaf. I'm not involved with the Japanese government. Quite the opposite actually.
Hisoka: Then, who the fuck are you working for?
Jack: That my dear, is top secret.
Hisoka's face twitches in annoyance, but he doesn't say anything as Jack continues, wiping tears from the corners of his eyes.
Jack: Still, the Chuohku dogs didn't need to send an agent to brand you like they already have.
Walking around Hisoka, the butler squats down to pick up the package that he had forgotten, looking inside to see the Hypnosis Microphones that had been delivered.
Jack: Real microphones… I'm sure you never imagined seeing Amayado's completed work.
Tossing one microphone to the redhead, Jack continues rifling through the contents of the box nonchalantly. Meanwhile, Hisoka scrambles to his feet to catch said device. The weight of the object felt heavy in his hands, a great reminder of his life leading up until this moment.
Hisoka: Why are they… Why send me this?
Jack: To humiliate you.
Hisoka: H-Humiliate?
Jack: Make you dance for them before they do something else, I assume. Honestly, this country is in such disrepair, they're making some lowly criminal dance for them to embarrass them before execution.
Hisoka: I don't want it! Take it if you want!
Jack: Oh, but Mr. Tetsumasu, they picked you! You couldn't possibly be thinking of turning them down after they went through the trouble of writing you such a lovely letter!
Waving said sheet nonchalantly in front of his face, Hisoka snatches the letter with a growl before directing his scowl at the sheet of paper. Sure enough, it looked like he was going to have no choice. For some bizarre reason, the women who sent the letter had written the letter specifically to Hisoka Tetsumasu. At the end of the passage, an additional note lets him know that they went out of their way to threaten and reward him.
Hisoka: Engraving the microphone? Shit, how the hell-
Jack: It’s not hard. Quite easy actually if you’re the type to forget to change your legal name.
Hisoka: Look you smug bastard, I did everything else I could possibly do to vanish off the planet! Don’t mock me like you know anything about-
Daiki: Uhh… Jack?

A Review of “Gran Turismo (2023)”
Gran Turismo is the next PlayStation IP to be adapted to the big screen. Their first attempt with Uncharted wasn't good but The Last of Us TV series was great. I was already interested in the idea of this movie but was further interested because of the director, Neill Blomkamp. He has not made anything as good as his first movie, District 9. Has Neill managed to return to form or is this another forgettable entry from him?
Firstly, David Harbour is terrific in this movie as Jack Salter. He plays the old tough mentor to the main character and he plays it so well. David just delivers those powerful speeches with such weariness and charm. Orlando Bloom is also great in this film as the marketing executive at Nissan. Orlando gives a charismatic yet slight sliminess to his performance that is so fitting for a person in marketing. Djimon Hounsou is wonderful in the role of the Dad. He is playing a Dad who is disappointed in his son for just playing video games. A character like that would be very disliked by the audience but Djimon manages to make him very loving despite that. Djimon delivers the most emotional performance in this whole film despite his minimal screen time. Archie Madekwe plays the main character, Jann Mardenborough, and he does a good job. His performance is tame compared to the others and he is outshined. Still, his performance makes him feel more relatable which is a perfect fit for a gamer character.
It's a solid telling of an underdog story. It has all the tropes you would expect: an underdog given a 1 million chance to make it, a grouchy mentor who warms up to the main character, the early success, the big setback in the later parts etc. However, it tells the story well and with a lot of heart. The dramatic and emotional moments still hit hard. A big core of this movie is the father and son dynamic between Jack and Jann. Seeing the relationship between the characters grow and the moments where Jack pushes Jann are superb. This is thanks to the great chemistry between David and Archie. The race scenes are also magnificent thanks to the great direction of Neill. He uses video game overlays to help the audience keep track of what place Jann is in a race. He also cuts away to the engine or the front seat to put the audience in the seat of the car. The climactic race is incredibly engaging and Neill does a great job in delivering a great conclusion.
However, due to the fact it is telling a story you have seen a dozen over, nothing in the plot surprises you. There isn't any moment of subversion or surprises, which could be a bit disappointing. There are some problems in the story though. There is a love interest and romance element in this movie with a character called Audrey, whom Jann is in love with. The romance is not fleshed out at all with no exploration of Audrey's character. She doesn't even do anything in the story that is meaningful whatsoever. She is just there for the main character to kiss someone. I am also disappointed by the lack of Jann's dad in this movie. It feels like there should have been more interactions between Jann and his dad as it would have made the final scene between them have more impact. The movie is 2 hours long but even that feels too much for what is a generic story. The final race is very noticeable CGI and kind of ugly at times too.
Overall, Gran Turismo is a surprisingly solid film. The trailers and marketing didn't do a good job of selling this. It's not going to blow you away but it's very enjoyable. Neill's is a great director who has made too many misses. Hopefully, this is the beginning of his return.

What Makes The Nissan Qashqai A Great Family SUV
All-round competence distinguishes the best family cars and allows them to slot seamlessly into a life of school runs, supermarket car parks, day trips and visits to the beach. This article sees how the new Nissan Qashqai measures up
The original Nissan Qashqai, which went on sale in 2007, was one of the most significant cars of recent years.
Ubiquity - for it went on to become a top 10 best-seller, year after year after year... - and its prosaic nature - this is a family car, no more and no less - as well as the passage of time has perhaps softened the impact made by this strangely-named, British-built vehicle.
But it was the Qashqai that lit the blue touchpaper under the shift from the family hatchbacks that populated our roads then towards the SUVs they are awash with now.
As with the Apple iPhone, which launched in the same year, Nissan had come up with a product that the public would really want - even if they hadn't realised it just yet.
The Qashqai concept, which has gone on to become the template for pretty much every family SUV since is a simple one. It's a family car with the approximate footprint of a hatchback and just as easy to drive and as affordable to run, but 'crossed over' with the advantage of some 4x4-esque elevated ride height, a raised driving position and a bit more room for passengers.
Nissan wasn't the first to come up with a 'crossover'. Notably, three Japanese competitors got there first, in the shapes of the Toyota RAV4 (1994), Honda CR-V (1996) and Subaru Forester (1997). Those with longer memories may even recall the Matra Rancho - in production from 1977 to 1984) as an even earlier European effort on the theme.
However, with the Qashqai, Nissan managed to hit European car buyers' sweet spot - its crossover was the right size, the right price, and the right car at the right time.
It was the gateway drug that led to the plethora of SUVs and crossovers - a semantic distinction, really - that flood our roads these days.
The Qashqai may have a host of imitators and rivals, but it still sells very well, thank you very much. It's become one of those cars that people repeat-buy because it fits into their lives so well.
That being said, though it was still a strong seller, the second-generation Qashqai had become rather off-the-pace by the time Covid started sweeping around the world.
The all-new third-generation model was launched abroad at the start of 2021 but, as with many cars which debuted during the pandemic, you could be forgiven for missing its arrival because other, more important things were going on at the time.
Which would be something of a shame, for this new Qashqai is a rather fine family car. It doesn't do anything particularly extraordinary, but it does do all the important things very well.
It is this all-around competence that distinguishes the best family cars, that allows them to slot seamlessly into a life of school runs, supermarket car parks, day trips and visits to the beach.
Some might regard these as humble - humdrum even - duties, but what higher calling is there for a family car than to become part of the family?
After selling millions of Qashqais, Nissan has the brief nailed. Here are just two examples of the way they've thought about how to make your life easier.
First, the back doors open really wide - I didn't have a protractor to hand, but they must swing by almost 90 degrees. Anyone with experience of loading children into car seats and checking seat belts is fastened properly will know how important that sort of access is.
Second, the boot is properly useful. Of course, it's large and can obviously carry lots of stuff. But it's the way the boot floor works that elevates the Qashqai. There's a two-part false floor - carpeted on one side, with a sort of rubber on the other for whenever mucky wellies and scooters are getting carted about - which can be used to divide the boot into two large sections. Your shopping need never rolls around again. Or your family's wet coats and shoes soak the things that have to be kept dry. Yes, other cars have something similar. But honestly, it's just easy to use it in the Nissan.
The back seat is generous, and the headroom is notably good even for lankier rear passengers. The hump in the middle of the floor is low too, so the middle passenger in a three-abreast arrangement shouldn't have much to complain about. There are also USB sockets back there, to keep teenagers happy...
Those in the front will feel as if they are in a far more spacious car than the last Qashqai. This new model is a big step up not only in perceived space but in the quality of the materials and build. The dashboard is nicely designed, though a slightly retro feel to the graphics on the digital dashboard and central infotainment screen rather jar with the crisp modernity of the rest of the interior.
At least Nissan has managed to do the sensible thing and keep real knobs and switches for the heating controls, rather than bury them in a touchscreen sub-menu.
To these eyes, the exterior styling is a massive improvement on the previous Qashqai, which was rather inoffensive and bland. This new Qashqai has a bold, in yer face front treatment, all sharp creases and attitude, with LED slashes for the lights and a very large Nissan badge. There's an unmistakable family identity shared with the latest Juke and the new electric SUV, the Ariya.
That being said, the front treatment isn't as wilfully odd as a Hyundai Tucson; it is eye-catching though, perhaps the new Kia Sportage is in similar visual territory.
Nor is the Nissan as adventurous as those cars once your eye moves from the front towards the back of the vehicle. But it is a cohesive, neat design, and one we will doubtless become very familiar with.
Engines are 1.3-litre petrol - you can't buy a diesel any longer - in either 96kW or 110kW tune - and you can have a six-speed manual or a CVT automatic transmission. You can specify four-wheel-drive, though only with the more powerful engine and CVT combination.
None of those set-ups is going to make the hairs stand up on the back of the neck of a keen driver, but the Qashqai isn't that sort of car. It just goes about its business, getting you and the family from A to B in a quiet, fuss-free manner. The handling is similarly low-key. But that's OK - as I've emphasised, the Qashqai is the essence of family transport, not a hot hatch in disguise, which is clearly what Nissan knows its customers want.
They also want many safety gadgets, judging by the sheer quantity of 'systems' aboard the Qashqai - and very good they are, too.
It's worth noting that a new electrified drivetrain should arrive later. Called 'e-power', it uses a petrol engine to generate electricity, which is stored in a battery, which in turn is used to power an electric motor.
The petrol engine is not connected to the wheels at all, meaning the e-power car is essentially an electric car with its own onboard charging station.
It certainly addresses range anxiety - though perhaps 'charger anxiety' is more accurate - and could be a useful step between petrol engines and a fully electric near future. Alternatively, it could be a bunch of over-complicated compromises... We'll have to wait to try it and find out for ourselves.
The Nissan Qashqai was once a truly distinctive product, but that has been lost in the face of its own popularity and the explosion in demand for SUVs in general. The latest version has taken the family SUV template and refined it even further, with Nissan creating a car that is highly competent in all areas and greater than the sum of its parts. It's an excellent family car and comes highly recommended.

Monday 27th February 2023
We cattle drovers have a tough life. Up at the crack of dawn, breakfasted by 8.30 and down to the pens ready for loading the cattle onto the truck that will take them to the saleyard in Roma. 20 large beasts were earmarked for this little treat that sadly was not to turn into a day out. A return ticket wasn't promised. How Dave managed to get this lot into the pens in the first place completely defeats me. These were apparently not the biggest of the assortment, but they looked huge to me. A couple of weeks ago some of the really big ones were taken for their trip of a lifetime; they were rounded up by helicopter. The art of getting 20 beasts onto a truck is indeed a well orchestrated choreographed, synchronised event involving a series of different pens and heavy galvanised gates. Firstly 12 were separated out for the initial batch on. Each cow having already made plans for the day found these at odds to the general principle of a road trip. The biggest problem for Dave was persuading them to make new plans. The other big problem for him was to skillfully be out of their way when collectively they yielded to all this encouragement and stampede in entirely the wrong direction. With a great deal of shouting, stick waving and immense bravery, they were moved from one pen to the next; Kaylee above on the gantry operating gates, they charged up the ramp and into the open barred truck. The most lunatic operation came next when Dave had to himself run up the ramp, in with the new travellers and extremely swiftly slam shut the heavy steel partition so that the process could be repeated with the remainder. What a job! Hats off to the pair of them. Bad news for the 20 I'm afraid, but extremely good news for one. The black male and smallest had been separated from the crowd and set loose to live another day whilst Dave roared off in a cloud of dust towards the main highway.
We then climbed aboard the jeep and headed off to the Station road entrance to collect the mail that is delivered twice a week and then drove the 3km back up the wobbly drive to the house. Upshot is, can I continue to put my signature to the execution warrant and eat beef? For Dave each of the 20 cows will sell for 2000 dollars. I don't expect Dave to stop signing.
This afternoon's treat was to be driven in the jeep by Kaylee around the estate. I had no idea what 20,000 acres actually looks like. It is massive. We seem to keep driving and driving with no clue where we were. Huge paddocks separated steers from Sheila's, ones for sale others to feed up, others in calf. Then we made it to the goats paddock. Some 1000 or more; not absolutely sure because they breed pretty quick. One issue they have is stuck goat syndrome. The paddock has stock fencing around it and small goats intent on reaching the tempting yellow wild flowers on the other side, stick their little heads through the fence and their tiny horns lock in place which means they can't pull their head back out! Kaylee had to pull up in the jeep and free them. She did 3 then one must have thought it so much fun that she did it again! This couple are amazing. Apart from the odd bit of extra help they run this enormous farm on their own. On top of the usual tasks running the farm they also have responsibility for cutting the roadside grass for the local council. Not too difficult I suppose, but their patch is 300km of roadside!!! Once a year.
Well, it's been a very interesting and informative couple of days for which we feel very privileged to have had. Tomorrow we hit the road again providing we manage to get the Nissan back to the Highway!

I have reckoned with this for a while but as far as I can tell this is
1969-1972 Nissan Skyline GT-R
1995-1998 Nissan Skyline GT-R
2010-2015 Nissan GT-R
note: I’m assuming trim levels based on context clues. If it managed to sneak another generation of GT-R in there it’s entirely possible I missed it, but I think it’s just the three? I also may be wrong on the later gen one since I could not for the life of me get a clean enough still frame of it to parse out which facelift it was

iHeartPodcasts has, by all accounts, had a good week. It released a new podcast with a novel perspective and gritty wit -- Moms Who Puck . Then, it basked in the glow of a highly successful The 2024 Thrill of Possibility Summit hosted by Nissan, iHeartRadio and Charlamagne Tha God’s Black Effect Podcast Network.
******************************************* iHeartPodcasts announced the launch of a new weekly podcast “Moms Who Puck” with Anya and Madison Packer, professional hockey players and moms-of-two. On their new podcast, they will speak candidly about their life on and off the ice covering everything from the chaos of raising two kids under four, to conceiving as a queer couple, prioritizing mental health and parenting while in the spotlight of a sport newly on the rise. Co-hosts Madison and Anya will also turn to fellow athletes, parenting experts and other boundary-breakers to learn about their varied parenthood journeys and collect advice valuable for anyone embarking on the messy, complicated, and joyous journey of parenthood. Upcoming guests will include Ashlyn Harris, Kirsten Ferguson, Natalie Spooner, Meghan Duggan, and more. “Moms Who Puck” premieres today, and new episodes will be posted on Tuesdays. We hope this podcast resonates with people, whether they’re parents, athletes, or anyone learning to balance life’s big moments.” Madison Packer is a professional ice hockey player, entering her tenth season in New York. The 2024 Thrill of Possibility Summit was hosted by Nissan, iHeartRadio and Charlamagne Tha God’s Black Effect Podcast Network and took place last weekend at the National Museum of African American Music in Nashville, TN. The Black Effect Podcast Network and Nissan welcomed 50+ HBCU students from across the country to participate in a STEAM industry event featuring professional development and personal success panels, 1:1 mentoring sessions, informative iHeartMedia and Nissan internship discussions and networking opportunities with industry executives and notable HBCU alumni. Highlights included: “Your Culture as Your Advantage” panel discussed how to navigate career growth and workplace dynamics through the lens of culture, respect and authenticity. Moderated by Dollie S. Bishop, the panel featured Charlamagne Tha God, Ebone’ Almon, Chico Bean and Keri Kelly (Nissan). Charlamagne Tha God encouraged students to stay consistent and follow their dreams. Dollie S. Bishop spoke to students about the importance of professionalism. “Manners will get you where money won’t – I’m a testament. Being professional will get you into rooms that open doors. I haven’t applied for a job since my first internship because not only was I highly qualified, I made authentic connections and was professional at all times.” Nissan’s Keri Kelly talked about the critical importance of finding mentors early in your career. “Look for mentors you have an authentic connection with and form an organic relationship with them. Use those relationships to understand corporate environments and how to navigate corporate culture. Mentors can really help you along the way.” The “Trailblazing Your Post-Grad Journey” panel discussed strategies for setting clear career and personal goals, navigating the post-grad world, and laying the foundation to thrive in long-term success. Blavity CEO Morgan DeBaun told students to begin building their brands while in school. “When I consider potential hires, I don’t look at their resumes; I look at what they’ve built. Become a master at making things that people want to watch and share and something you’d be proud to show an employer one day.” Gil Beverly encouraged students to focus on building and maintaining relationships as they progress through life and their careers. “Very few jobs are rocket science jobs. It’s really about building relationships and finding people who are willing to take a chance on you. You never know where your next opportunity will come from.”
Brittany N. Cole talked about advocates in the workplace and finding value in rejection. “Make the hiring manager of the roles you don’t get your biggest advocate. Ask for feedback about why you didn’t get the role and implement it. Follow up with them consistently and showcase how you’ve used their feedback to grow professionally.”
Kudos to iHeart for their participation in this event. Maybe some of the other large podcast networks could get on board with similar events and programs?
