Man, with how vague Splatoon is about its lore/plot points sometimes, I’m very wary of people who claim there is One Definitive Interpretation of this that or the other thing. Like no, just because the game uses they/them pronouns for Captain 3 doesn't mean giving them any other pronouns is misgendering. Like, unless you have something from actual canon (ie. the games themselves or dev interviews) to back it up, then I don't think it's fair to expect people to Universally Agree With You or Else. Going "This is how I see things, I really don't like it when people see it this other way" is fine but "This is how I see things, I am RIGHT and anyone who thinks otherwise is WRONG" is not. People have different opinions. You are not obligated to agree with them, but at the same time, they are not obligated to agree with you.

I wanna quickly discuss Nintendo Music because I got some thoughts on it and I wish to share them, both good!...

Okay, as the fellow Splatoon resident, having only Splatoon 3's launch tracks and having NO songs from later updates, seasonal Splatfests, Side Order and Grand Fest is fucking psychotic to me.

You mean to tell me that they are gonna DRIP FEED SONGS IN PRE EXISTING ALBUMS?!?! WHY DOES ANIMAL CROSSING GET 400 TRACKS YET SPLATOON 3 DOESNT GET ALL OF ITS TRACKS?!?! What's next? Is Splatoon 2 not gonna have Octo Expansion music, and are they gonna update AT A LATER TIME??!!

Are they even gonna update Splatoon 3 at all!?!?!?! UGH! Are we gonna get the live/Grand Fest remixes of tracks too?!? Will Splatoon 1 even get added?! WILL I NEVER GET TO HEAR BOMB RUSH BLUSH BUT INSTEAD THE REMIX THAT MAKES ME FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE TO LISTEN TO?!?! sigh....

Okay enough about Splatoon. How's the music listening experience in general? I would say it's pretty good. Having Wii music in the background as I talk to friends on Discord or do other things is really, really relaxing, and the extension feature is a brilliant idea. However, there's no way to just automatically play extended versions of songs. You have to manually extend the songs, and I think that's kind of annoying.

Now, how's the selection? Gonna be real, shit. It's not good. Why does every console except the switch only have 2 ALBUMS?!?!?!? Metroid having both its versions doesnt count as 3 albums, its the same fucking game. WHERE ARE THE 3DS AND WII U?!?!?

Every console should have had 5 to 8 MINIMUM!!!! I don't care, Nintendo has a library that spans in the thousands for fuck sake, this is unacceptable at launch. But hey, it's Nintendo, that's what they do. NSO started off being god awful but now it's a solid deal for 20 bucks a year. Way more tolerable than what the HELL PS Plus costs.

My biggest concern with this service is when they are gonna drop new albums. Nintendo, for the love of fucking god, do NOT DROP 1 TO 3 ALBUMS PER MONTH!!!! DO NOT DO THAT!!!! This service WILL die if you do that. People will get restless and move on. I do not want a repeat of NSO retro games AGAIN!!!! Just drop a batch every week or two, maybe 3 to 6 albums per 2 weeks or something like that. Don't drop at a minimum 2 per month or two months. DONT! AND MAKE SURE TO HAVE EVERY SONG IN THE ALBUM!!!!

But it's probably not gonna happen.... I know deep down Nintendo is gonna do the classic drip feeding strategy because it just works for them unfortunately... man...

I do like the app but it has ISSUES!!!!! BIG BIG ISSUES AND WORRIES!!!!

She doesn’t come into the harbor often, choosing to stay in the abode with her master more than having to control herself around large groups of people; but it is a treat when she sees you around the city. Shenhe chooses to stay more in the back, the shadows between alleyways as she follows you. Shenhe doesn’t even quite know it’s creepy, just that she wants to know more. She goes back to cloud retainer with a new thing to think about, dreaming of you.

Wuthering waves

Shorekeeper. Mostly in part to the fact for a long time she couldn’t really…move without using her hologram. She likes seeing your around the blackshores, making sure to keep extra tabs on you and where your going. She wants you badly, and when it gets so bad, she sometimes sends a little blue butterfly your way. Shorekeeper is also prone to using any information saved about you in the system to learn more.

NINTENDO FIX YOUR GAME!!!

For my birthday my mom bought me pokemon red fire because everyone played it in my school play it and i wanted to fit in. But no one told me how ANNOYING the rival would be. In the first and battle, the rival made all my pokemon faint! I had enough and downloaded a mod where it removes the rival which i happily downlowed but when i used it, the rival was still there!

I had to name him (which i picked blue). The only diffrence was that everyone kept asking for my rivals name and i had to write it over and over again and they keep forgetting it! The second i leave the convo and enter it again, they suddenly forget it. Thankfully there was a way to stop them asking and it was by writing "i dont know. I dont care anymore" i found it in the mods description.

There was also the instance where blues sprite slowly became invisible and he would say "whats my name" or "will they renember me?" In the middle of the battle before later in the game disappearing completely which was weird but thats the reason why i downloaded the mod.

In like the end parts of the game i decided to fly back to pallet town cause i got bored. But the moment i stepped in the tall grass i found a freaking charizard in there. So i obv catched it and it had the fly hm on it for some reason and everytime i tried to fly anywhere it kept going to cinnabay island until it put me in some in some type of island, walking down the path i saw all of blues pokemon sorrounding something that was buried and a rock behind it

When i interacted with it came into a trainer battle with blue looking all bandaged up he didnt send out any pokemon. For some reason mine didnt to it kept saying "red was to scared to move" i could only run and it sayed something weird "##/##/## at ##:## in the cinnabay islands, blood is seen scattered below the volcano. It has been speculated to be an accident but the body has gone missing. Some locals has reported seeing a charizard holding a body like shape after the accident but its still not confirmed. If you have any information about the case please contact ###-####-###" then it said "is it your fault that i faded to obscurity?"

The pokemon button appeared and it only showed that i had a lvl 1 jigglypuff which i defintely didnt own! When i took it out it only had sing so i used it. I defeated him for some reason and it said "he finally found peace" weird.

After the battle i couldnt move my player, it kept saying "why did you do it blue?" And "im sorry". I tried turning off and on the game but it still doesnt work. I hate pokemon now, all of my friends are just nerds.

so, most of this is gonna be out of chronological order because i cant remember the order i got a lot of these in, though i do remember the first two physicals. first one i got was pc steam version. most playtime in this one due to getting it first and still going back to it cause multiplayer is easy, and also free unlike consoles) gifted it to quite a lot of my steam friends.

then my grandad introduced me to gog (and gave me fallout 3 and nv) and i got the gog version of terraria (identical to steam except its drm free and doesnt contain any steamworks stuff like steam multiplayer (though you can direct ip connect) or steam achievements (there are ingame achievements) or steam cloud) we'll get back to this one later as i have more to say

so, onto the physical copies i will not be going in chronological order as i only remember the first two chronologically (also i will note i got the steam and gog versions before any physicals)

Nintendo Switch

so like 2 years ago now i got a switch for my birthday, first console ive ever owned (i was a pc girlie), whats the first game i get for it? Wrong! it was mario kart (thats why i wanted a switch). naturally when i got the switch it did not come with a game packed in so i ended up cycling a couple miles to go and buy mario kart. shortly after i got terraria cause hey i liked the game on pc itd be nice to play it on the go (my laptop was shit and also it stopped working properly shortly before i got my desktop pc the year before my switch). also the third game i got for it was breath of the wild which i thought was worth mentioning

Xbox 360

second one i ever got was the xbox 360. i found this while on holiday in a cex for £1.50 (same time i got botw for the switch, see i said it was worth mentioning), and thought itd be neat to start collecting terraria physical copies for all the consoles because well a £1.50 game is a good place to start. havent played it yet, only verified the disc works since i dont have an xbox 360. it was a couple months (and collected terraria copies) down the line before i decided "hey this collection is cool why dont i get the consoles to play them on and eventually 100% each of them" which lead me down buying broken consoles and repairing them which is how most consoles i own came into my possession. if theres anything notable about the repairs ill mention them alongside the game. you can clearly tell i have no plan on how this post is going im just rambling as i remember something anyways this is where things stop being chronological and im just gonna group similar consoles together, which leads us to

Xbox One

the xbox one version has two different box art variations. why do i have both despite only being able to use one at a time? because theres two of course! the later one (right) is what i got first before hunting for the second one i got (left) because the right one is more common in cex and the left more common on ebay for.... some reason i dont know. nothing much to note otherwise except 100%ing this one was a fucking pain in the arse i didnt actually do it until about 9 hours ago. id basically 100%ed it some months ago (the standard 115 ingame achievements as of 1.4.4.9), but of course the ps4 and xbox one versions dont just have the standard ingame achievements like steam has, nonono thats to easy. they have their own that are more relics from the old gen consoles (ps3/vita/xb360/wiiu), and are xbox live/psn achievements. most are unique but some are just ingame ones (but not all 115 for.... some reason). and now we get to the achievement i was never able to complete until today. pet collector. most of these were fine, easy, completed alongside the others. except pet collector. now it requires you to "get all the pets". this is thankfully untrue, it requires you to get all the pets that were in the game as of when that achievement was introduced. a few i could get easily by looking up "<pet name> seed xbox" and getting the ones from chests, the rest i just got naturally, except, the zephyr fish. random chance from fishing, if you have insane fishing power, the maximum possible in the game, it wont even hit 0.5% chance, and its lower with lower fishing power. thankful xbox one has rolling recording so i was able to quickly capture the moment that i caught it (i was checking the wiki to see if there was anything else i could do to get this fish easier, then returned to the game and caught it there and then): (there was a video here but im cutting it in the hopes that i can actually send the post. its on my blog somewhere). i had a much easier time with this achievement on ps4. speaking about playstation,

Playstation 3

ha you thought i was gonna talk about ps4 werent you, or not i dont know what youre thinking. anyways this one was another cheap one, i got the ps3 version [on the right] for about £2, checked the disc works, and i still dont have a ps3 so i havent played that yet. also found a japanese ps3 version for a couple quid that comes with inlays and all that. cant read a word but its cool to have

Playstation Vita

This was one of the more pricy versions, with it [the english version] being about £15, played on a modded vita that i bought. notable things about that vita, the rear touchpad came broken but it was just unplugged, also the previous owner didnt wipe it and their memory card was just, full of porn (no i wont share it i factory reset it all) japanese version i got from someone selling it from japan, cheaper than the english version which was pretty funny to me

Playstation 4

so. a lot here. first one i got was the (boxed) playstation hits version, which came with a... original print disc? someone somewhere has bought a ps4 original box with the playstation hits disc from a random cex in some city. maybe ill meet them some day. anyways, next i got the original print with original print disc, nothing really of note, then found out there was a newer print without playstation hits on it (this doesnt exist for xbox one i checked trust me), tracked one down and paid a surprisingly low price. it had the right disc. now the odd ones out of the ps4 lineup, the disc in the jewel case is a standalone playstation hits disc (which came as a disc i provided the case myself) because i wanted one since i got confirmation it existed after getting that middle box art variation with its own disc. now, unique thing here, its the usa version. the ps4 is region free with discs, so i could play it. but. different region versions are different applications with different save data and different achievements trackers. i have only played this one to test the disc works im not doing 102 hours all over again to 100% the american version (yeah it was about 102 hours i did on expert mode this time, plus two minutes that i went into a journey mode drunk world to get a kite since it wasnt windy at all on the main save). finally, the bonus collectors edition. this has the box ive shown in the image, plus in the plastic wrap its stealed in theres an original print of the box art in there too. inside the big box is the stickers, poster, and... drum roll please.... the terraria branded pickaxe 2gb usb-2.0 flash drive. its by itself on ebay for like £30 or more and i got this whole bundle for under £20. i do not want to break the seal just for a 2gb usb drive ill use once and never again (american one is cropped, wouldnt upload if it was separate and i cant retake the pic for reasons. i think theres an image limit? or limit for images on separate paragraphs?)

Wii U and 3DS

these were also on the more expensive side, £20 and £15 respectively. nothing much to note about the games themselves, except the wiiu version can be played with the wiiu gamepad or pro controller... and also the fuckign wii remote with nunchuck. this isnt on the wiki. if i knew how to edit the wiki page to add that control scheme in i would. discussion page on the wiki talking about it here and if anyone wants the full inputs so they can put it in PLEASE message me i just want it on the wiki. nothing much to note on the repairs for my wiiu, but the 3ds. well. lets start by the fact that i bought this during a college day when i didnt have a lecture, and one of my friends (coincidentally an ex) had their 3ds xl with them, so i asked if i could just check this game works and it did. played about 5 mins and didnt touch it again. then i bought a broken new 2ds xl off ebay. broken (i knew this) not fixable by me (i wasnt aware till i tried). big problem, it wouldnt boot and also the shoulder button switches broke off and my soldering iron is too big to fix that, and also it was homebrewed and i didnt have the original nand backup cause it wasnt mine. it rotted in my electronics drawer for about two and a half years (maybe three and a half). onto the new 3ds xl i got, the only problem with that was a nonfunctional sd card reader. hey wait a sec i have a 3ds sd card reader on an old broken 3ds (2ds xl) so i swapped those out and its worked fine since. homebrewed it and i have the nand backup for that. so this was early this year. now. lets go up to last month. ive just built a computer monitor using the lcd panel and top case from my old shit laptop, a controller board for the panel i got off aliexpress, a cardboard box to store the aforementioned controller board, the laptops charger (fit perfectly into the dc port on the controller board and also was the right voltage), and some speakers (theyre shit but they work), and thought "hey my electronics repair skills have improved, lets go back to that old new 2ds xl, i found a motherboard replacement. its also a special variant one i have so i could sell it if i wanted to make money". so i bought the motherboard (and a new volume slider cause i lost that little bit of plastic), put it all together, and it worked! it all booted up! and i was so caught up in the euphoria of all that i failed to notice that the top screen was cracked inside that i could only notice now that the rest of the console worked. back to aliexpress, new top screen arrived, some broken glass, a ripped ribbon cable (of the old top screen) and some superglue later and i have a perfectly functioning new 2ds xl. which i am not playing terraria on cause my new 3ds xl is better. but hey i can streetpass with myself now that was worth the £40 i spent on repairs

PC Collectors Edition

first one i got here was the one in the middle, backed up the bunny.exe that activates the collectors edition and then shelved it. that one and the second one i got (left) were both used and thus the steam keys were already used. the later one i got (right) is sealed (thats why i have two of the same box art). there are more i am trying to find, theres one box art variation where the orangey red info box is massive, and one where its not present at all (so yeah theres still more, theres also a japanese 3ds and wiiu version but theyre like £60 and £100 on ebay and im not spending that much on a videogame. im sure the fact im specifying videogame will not come up later) its good, if you can get a good deal on one and want the bunny pet id say its worth it, though since all the exe does is change 1 bit in the registry its easy enough to manually do it even if you dont have the physical collectors edition if you know what youre doing (and on linux and mac you have to do it manually as theres no linux/mac versions of the script) speaking of linux like i did in the brackets, theres a fun bug where mouse4 and mouse5 cant be assigned ingame and arent registered at all which sucks cause i used those to grapple and quick mount. naturally using the windows version via proton does fix this, but provides us with fun new bugs such as all key presses in text boxes are doubles so trying to type anything including world seeds eennddss uupp lliikkee tthhiiss and also steam overlay is just completely broken, though i did find a fna update script for the linux port that updates the engine allowing mouse4 and mouse5 to be used, i got it off github somewhere.

now thats all the game versions, lets move on to some other cool stuff. firstly (and no pic for this because the frame i got makes any pictures look complete pants but its sick as fuck in person) is the "heroes of terraria" poster from the terraria.shop site, also some pins from the same site which i keep on a cork board thing on my wall next to the transgender tardis dr who pin i got, plus a hoodie (the world of terraria one in green and gold) plus some tshirts (like 4 of them, one was a heroes of terraria on a tshirt). theyre cool but you know whats cooler?

Terraria Official Handbooks

if youre my age or a bit older (or a bit younger i dont know) you might remember those minecraft handbooks. well, around 2015 terraria got their own for version 1.3.0.8. these arent really wiki replacements, and i think theyre aware of that (hell they even link to the wiki, and being 2015 they link to the official gamepedia one (before fandom fucked it up) and the unofficial wikia one (which i think became fandom. fuck that website. use the wiki.gg wiki its the new official one)), theyre more "hey show this to someone to get them into the game like a parent or friend or other person". theyre pretty cool, i got the bundle of these for quite cheap in very good condition, i did give them all a read through and you can tell theyre 1.3.0 guides, theres a LOT thats changed. maybe after 1.4.5 relogic will commission more? id like that but then again we have a wiki thats very comprehensive so i doubt it and now one more thing what i would personally consider the pride of my collection the single item i am most proud to have yes, even more so than handbooks and sealed game copies let me show you:

Terraria OST Vinyl

this released in 2021 (and as a result only has the first four volumes, also unrelated to the time it doesnt have the otherworld ost, related to the time it means theres no deerclops and no aether, and no 11 or more tracks that are coming in 1.4.5 which will presumably become volume 5. will they do a reissue of the vinyl if that happens? my wallet hopes not) and is SO EXCEEDINGLY RARE i have only seen a handful of listings, going for £150/160. until i found one for about £100 so i didnt think i just clicked buy and id personally say it was worth it due to rarity and being also SEALED so i havent touched the seal on that (i also dont have a vinyl player and i ripped the .wav files from the game files (i also paid for the .mp3 files from steam) so i dont really need to use the vinyl), and i really wanna get it framed. honestly this is just the thing im most proud of having. anyways i said id get back to the pc version (i think) so now im gonna mention the gog version

gog.com is a website (woah) that sells exclusively drm-free games. tl;dr if you have downloaded the games backup installer (or installed the game from them its still drm free) they cannot do SHIT you OWN that thing you can do whatever you like. install it on one of your pcs. install it on every pc you own. steam wont let you use windows 7 now? thats cool i can use the gog offline backup installer on any os (that the game itself supports). why am i mentioning this? well i thought itd be cool to collect backup installers. downloading them whenever new versions drop (was only really doing it with windows until last year so i only downloaded 1.4.4.9v4 on other oses myself) but i only started playing on steam with 1.4.0.5, and gog with 1.4.1 or 1.4.2 i cant remember which, how can i get older versions now? i can only download the latest version via gog, plus patch exes to patch older versions to slightly less old versions given that i already have older versions, and even then i can only currently download patches for 1.4.4.8 and onwards (i was grabbing patches as i went). so i contacted gog support. they were able to give me linux, windows, and macos backup installers for 1.3.5.3 and 1.4.0.5, which was very cool and 1.3.5.3 was one of the two versions i most cared about since they were right before 1.X.0.0 updates. the other being 1.2.4.1, since gog terraria did release with that version as the first one it released with. even going back to support a year later going "hey i was allowed access to older ones before, do you have 1.2.4.1?" and they could only give me 1.3.5.3 and 1.4.0.5 (and the latest version direct from gog.com being 1.4.4.9v4). so began my hunt. eventually finding the gog version of 1.2.4.1 lying around on the internet archive (thank you internet archive youre a real one), alongside a couple other misc versions i didnt have. i also found a couple i had to torrent (i wish gog let me have them all so i didnt have to resort to pirating a game i paid for but media preservation is at the heart of piracy so thank you media preservers youre also real ones. that includes internet archive im thanking you twice), so bringing me to now where i have basically every 1.4.4.x on windows, a handful of 1.4.x.x on windows, and 1.4.4.9v4, 1.4.0.5, and 1.3.5.3 on all platforms, and 1.2.4.1 on windows (linux/mac didnt get native versions till the beta on 1.3.0.7 and then fully on 1.3.0.8) oh i also have the mobile version but theres nothing really interesting of note there. switch versions better portably (and steam deck too)

and thats my full collection basically. at some point im hoping to get the 2 collectors edition box arts i dont have and 2 japanese game versions i dont have, but waiting for listings to show up online/reasonable prices respectively. if youve made it to the end of this... well done. maybe in the future ill talk about my dr who dvd collection, or the turnip boy robs a bank wii version i have (its real only haters will say its fake). anyways post ended thats all i can think to talk about.

OKAY so for starters it was actually kinda disappointing to see that most of the gameplay has been shown already in the trailer, i would’ve liked to have been surprised..

and there is no feeling of progressing forward like any other storymode since you go to the start every single time you lose and all your achievements disappear unless you get into the boss fight, and only if you win you get one singular key

and all the powerups that you’re used to having just gone. poof. disappear.

i would’ve liked to see npcs that you can actually talk to because somehow there is no button to talk to pearl? like maybe they should have made a feature when you’re right underneath pearl to press A and talk to her for a bit, even if its something simple like “yo! let’s get back on track!”

you can’t even talk to marina and all she asks is if you need something to be hacked, which makes her seem as she’s just there for that mechanic and nothing else— as someone who never played splatoon 2 and doesnt know her personality im not sure what the hype is about for her

we should have been able to go into the elevator and actually walk around and talk to the characters and like salmon run, when it says ‘time to go to work!’ for side order it would say ‘arrived at floor’ or smth like that.. i would give anything to be able to walk around and interact with everyone in the elevator, like if the characters pearl, marina and dedf1sh weren’t there it would function the same

why arent we able to talk to them like. dedf1sh is such a cool character where is the lore? they just stand in a corner and is just there…

and all the bosses are easy to tell apart from the silhouette and you can easily guess how you’re going to fight them, i want that little moment of mystery as well as not knowing how hard it’s going to be

it looks as if you have to fight many of the same boss to get the locker key and after it just becomes repetitive and there is no story whatsoever, the villain is a glitchy entity called ‘order’??? like if that same glitchy entity thing switched to agent 4 for like half a frame the entire fandom would go WHOAH WHAT WAS THAT and we’d be talking about it for ten thousand days

the only motive is that you have to save everyone from being grayscaled blablabla but you dont even have any evidence of the character even being there, the character palettes are just a cheap way to implement more weapons, like what do you mean we don’t get the actual characters standing around the outside of the spire.. i want to talk to paul and warabi and ikkan (cough cough i mean quinn and mashup???)

Along a similar note, I also assumed that the term "Linked Universe" started evolving to mean the general concept of crossing over the different heroes and princesses and that fans were using it generically rather than directly attributing it to the source work

I'm not really a part of the LU fandom, so I don't really know what anyone's opinions on any of the terms are, and I'm not exactly active in the LoZ fandom either, I just really like the games and enjoy thinking about the timeline

Henry comes in and sings a verse about how brad helped him and mercedes name their daughter. Will has also said he gives Henry another daughter every time he’s asked if birdie is real.

1) in season 2, i think he's a member of d.a.d.d.i.e.s up until the betrayal, but at the same time he's actively witnessing jodie's decline as glenn and morgan do their thing, so he spends like 65% of his time picking up jodie's slack as king of hell [which unfortunately, gives jodie more time to try to win morgan back. it doesnt work]. jodie being the world's most failed bisexual leaves a lot of work unfinished for john, who unfortunately is coping through his old man fashion sense of tropical shirts and big jeans. which i hastily drew

he was in hell when nicky was attacked; nicky portal'd to glenn mid-rave, who then brought nicky home and alerted john, morgan, and jodie about the situation. once stablized, nicky told them all what happened - this drives a bit of a wedge between him and john as john doesnt believe they should immediately cut off all contact ['maybe theyve been mind controlled'], especially considering nicky would be leaving behind taylor and cass. john returns to earth to talk to the kiddads himself, and while he does manage civil conversation for a solid minute, he's ambushed as well. he's able to escape fairly quickly [he didnt dismiss 100% of nicky's warnings, he knows the others pack a punch] and once home, he reconciles with nicky, agreeing to cut off contact

2) if not for the betrayal, john would be the kind of uncle that taylor sees like, once every 3 months but when he does he spoils the shit out of him - even more so than he already is. he'd get baby taylor the loudass toys that annoy the hell out of nicky and cass. he'd come back from hell with some kind of enchanted gift that may or may not cause a power outage.

after the betrayal, he cut off contact with earth, including taylor and cass. though he and nicky keep an eye on taylor, in case he ever needs them. every christmas, he drops off a gift in the middle of the night 'from santa'. its mostly just a figurine of whatever anime taylor's been most obsessed with that year. one year, taylor gets a customized enchanted funko pop of himself [because all uncles work at funko. or nintendo. whatever], only enchanted enough that it resembles taylor on a day to day basis, like it's outfit changes with him. cass has zero idea who 'santa' is

post betrayal for all the kiddads, he holds an eternal grudge against them. even after they and nicky truce in order to help the kids with the doodler's anchors, he cant bring himself to agree. he's on par with lark for title of 'skeptical battle ready uncle', but in a hawaiian shirt.

s1 oaks - nervous wreck recognizes nervous wreck. respects henry for having to wrangle lark n sparrow daily [somethin he's had to do now with walter]. he does think hen's too judgemental though. as johnathan, he sees henry as a huge pushover with no control over his kids. he still respects henry for having to deal with them everyday though. that shit's tough

s2 oaks - pre betrayal, he was friends with sparrow more than lark, as the former was mostly trying to find the least violent route for anything. he saw hero and norm like, once in their youth, at a family/friends bbq. meeting norm during the events of s2 he's struggling so hard not to say anything about his hygiene [heightened demon senses are Not helping him] but he's nice enough.

s1 wilsons - he's a little familiar with darryl pre-faerun, as nick frequently hangs out at grant's house, so darryl's a comforting guy to have around. he mostly knows grant as nick's gamer friend. paeden's on the same rank as lark n sparrow's rowdy-ness, he's just glad that the daddies tend to take him on every mission. as johnathan, darryl's the main dad that he respects [aside from jodie] as hes the one that least opposes his dad for being a cop, and mostly just opposes him whenever he's being kinda annoying.

s2 wilsons - pre betrayal, had a lot of comradery with grant about video games and weapons. unfortunately supplied grant with a lot of magical/hell weapons. doesnt forgive himself for that. linc honestly doesnt leave a huge impression on him, but he admires his honesty and heart.

s1 stamplers - neither johnny nor johnathan know what to think of ron. johnny thinks he's strange but harmless, johnathan doesnt know if ron's either clueless or knows something he doesnt. both of them solidly respect terry jr though. thats a stand-up kid right there!

s2 stamplers - probably closest with terry out of all the kiddads. they generally just vibe on the same kind of wavelength, and shared a taste in music, going to concerts before d.a.d.d.i.e.s. to be fully honest, he's a little scared of scary. he's never seen so much wrath in a teen before.

4) in some talking dad episodes, will actually mentions henry originally having a baby daughter named 'henrietta', who wouldve been home with mercedes during the soccer tournament!! and i will never forgive them for scrapping that idea!!

Minerus Power Sucks and Here's what i think they should have done instead

First off. Using the other quests as precedent i was really expecting Paya to be the Sage of Spirit (i know others expected Purah). They started the quest building her imporatance ip a bit... then just. Ditched her.

Dont get me wrong the dragon islands were cool and all but like. You had a companion for all the other quests and for this one you dont.

You really only get Mineru for a slow trudge through the depths and a really bad boss battle. Her mech is clunky and slow, and for some reason all the damage you sustain on her transfers directly to you? You cant even jump off and get a good boost to your jump! People have BUILT better working mechs in the game!

What's more- its a mech. She's the sage of Spirit and doesnt use SPIRIT powers! The other sages spirits can already talk to you from beyond the grave but the only thing she can do past that is possess stuff? Its laughable how little she can do compared to other sages.

Anyway. Heres what I'd do:

Give her power to a Shiekah. They really got shafted in TOTK and this power would really be appropriate for them considering the Shiekahs roles in other games (ya i know impa was the sage of shadow but the sage of spirit here is purple so. Idk)

The Shiekah do fight with magic in AOC. They have weapons. They can fight and whether its Paya or Purah both can help.

Impa has a variety of attacks that involve clones of herself or other things. This could be a good power for your shiekah companion. Alternatively, both Shiekah and yiga have illusion powers that can disorient monsters. Being able to disorient or possibly even have limited control of monsters could be kickass.

Mineru can still be an active guide in this quest, but in the end have her entrust her stone to someone else. Have her recognize your companion as a worthy friend and warrior and magic user and let her trust this legacy to someone new

This is more optional/doesnt really fit with the Vibe Nintendo was going for but why not make the spirit temple a little scarier? Like. Shes the sage of spirit but her temple wasnt any more unique than all the other Zonai stuff in the depths. Theres Zonai tech in every part of the game, and all the other temples had something unique to them. Even if the spirit temple isnt on Shadow temple levels (to show there was a little something the Zonai were hiding), make it a little more fitting to the theme.

Even if you dont do any of this, though... at least give the Mineru mech a different health bar. Other games can do this its not that hard.

Midnight Gaming: Working Man Roguelikes

So last night I played both Immortal Redneck and Ziggurat past midnight, checked socials later to find....nothing notable to talk about it, though the countdown for the new nintendo direct is up as I write this so maybe I'll talk about something there after.

Ok directs over lets talk now.

Balatro has a crossover with several properties such as witcher, dave the diver, vampire survivors and amogus. Power wash simulator has a shrek crossover where you clean shreks swamp. Star overdrive looked to be cool with you travelling across a planet on a hoverboard. Goat simulator 3 on switch looks choppy and terrible. Stalker trilogy is coming to switch... why. I know these games came to console last year I think but these games are kinda janky on pc, not sure how they ran on xbox or ps5, can assume it'll run like DOGSHIT on switch, should be fun. FGC is eating good since Capcom Fighting Collection 2 is announced and it'll have POWER STONE 1 AND 2 INCLUDED! Never really played those games but i've heard a ton from people who were pining for that series to come back, so thats cool. DS Castlevanias are coming to switch in Dominus collection very cool. Mysims is back in cozy bundle that has the first game and kingdoms included. I enjoyed them for what they were on wii, an attempt to do a chibi sims game. So thats cool. Yakuza Kiwami is ported to switch, thats crazy and weird. Last yakuza game on Nintendo console was the 1 + 2 hd remaster on Wii U and it sold ass, so sega never bothered with yakuza on nintendo for a while. Why they decide to bring Kiwami 1 which is considered questionable in quality for some people and not port zero instead is beyond me.

Ok thats done, lets cover roguelikes

So I decided to a double feature of two games for this post today, talking about a couple of roguelike fps games that I liked. Some folks do reckon that roguelikes are a bit too common nowadays. In fairness, I can see how it may feel like a cheap way to stretch content in a sort of "play it again, it'll be different woooo" vibe but there are cases of games that utilise the randomness well and actually have a compelling base for a game that a roguelike approach adds to. Take Enter the Gungeon and Streets of Rogue for example. Here I'm gonna talk about two Roguelike fps games I played last night.

Immortal Redneck has you playing as a redneck who drove into Egypt and died. And then he became a mummy. So you have three pyramids you need to go in and clear out, each having some bosses you gotta fight and they are scripted bosses so once you figure them out, you can beat them easy. Progress works kinda like Rogue Legacy where you need to spend on passive upgrades and unlocks before you enter as you'll lose all your gold starting each run to prevent you from just banking it.

IR's combat loop of exploring the map and dealing with enemies is nice. The guns do feel punchy though there are some guns that feel more practical and some that feel more gimmicky such as the infinite ammo ankh that doesnt do a whole lot of damage but is infinite which can be helpful if you run out. You get ammo back when enemies drop a blue box or from a chest and there have been a couple times were I was low on ammo so discretion with your aim is important to keep in mind.

You can choose a god from your sarcophagus in the main hub which gives you some different stats, a starting weapon loadout and a power that recharges overtime such as a grappling hook, a decoy or a power that can turn dropped gold into healing items. You can even choose the redneck himself and he has dynamite bundles and an infinite ammo power. Like the game enough, I say give it a go when you find it on sale.

So Ziggurat is another Roguelike with you as a student wizard needing to clear a challenge to graduate. You have 4 magic groups that you can only carry 1 for each, your starting wand which recharges, spells, staffs and an alchemical weapon. Progress in Ziggurat is 5 levels to go through with unlocks tied to score so regardless if you win or die, you'll eventually unlock every perk, character and weapon in the game for the random table to choose from. Another thing to note is that theres multiple endings depending on difficulty and how thorough you go through so if you find the portal key and go straight to the boss then you'll end up with a worse ending.

Speaking of bosses, while IR had scripted bosses, Ziggurat has random bosses which honestly seem more like souped up big versions of the regular enemies that usually tend to spawn in those regular enemies during the battle. The exception is the end boss Cephaus who is the same in every run. You can choose from several characters to start a run with, each having different stats and starting perks such as a vampire that loses health slowly but gains it back from enemies, a cleric who has healing abilities and can't get divine punishment from offering to gods but more enemies spawn for them and etc.

Rooms in Immortal Redneck had some verticality so you do need to platform at times to get to enemies while Ziggurats rooms are mostly flat. Another to note is that each level has a hidden room with a free perk inside that you can find by looking for a cracked wall. Once you notice how all the rooms are layed out in a level, it become trivial to know where to look. Just know that all the rooms are connected via a grid and any spot where a door is likely to be placed will likely have a cracked wall. During your run you'll need to grab knowledge stones dropped from enemies in order to level up so you can select a perk but since they can despawn, you'll often need to run in and grab them during combat.

I liked Ziggurat enough for the variety in the perks and weapons you can get even while the levels are all rather samey. Theres a sequel already out that I should one day try out to see what they've done for that. Another game worth checking out when its on sale.
