Before anyone says otherwise Colin King is the greatest fighter they have and it’s most morally loose on at that and even with the Eternal Warrior around no one is a more ruthless, cunning and capable fighter than Colin. He’s the rich bored playboy with lots of money, training and gadgets galore that give his life purpose and meaning.     The first issue is always the set-up so we see why a hero would turn traitor and surprisingly with so many of them involved in this already you’d think someone would stop and think hmm maybe there’s a reason this is happening and we shouldn’t jump the gun. No however all we get is everyone immediately thinking Colin has betrayed them. Not a good group of friends if you ask me and I’m a bit perturbed that he was quickly branded thusly. Seeing the opening and doing what he has to do all for the benefit of a man he considers a friend goes a long way in my book. And while a misunderstanding has been the cause of many a fight between heroes this is taking it a step further.     There is some excellent work on the interiors happening here. The attention to detail is amazingly good and just seeing all the linework and the care put into it is exceptional. The use of page layouts and how we see the angles and perspective in the panels shows off a strong eye for storytelling. Also I adore the fact that they aren’t afraid to use backgrounds here letting us see where they are, without captions, expanding the scene, the moment and creating a great kind of mood and setting.     The way the book is structured is fantastic and the ebb & flow of the way things unfold before us makes for some easy reading. That we read this at a devouring pace shouldn’t go unnoticed and it’s because you are riveted to the page and you don’t want what’s happening to end. The characterisation, with the exception of them automatically brandishing him a traitor, is spot on. Colin and Roku’s anyway play on par with everything we know about them and leaves little doubt about how well they know each other. I think she’s the only person in this Universe to be able to hold any kind of power over him and it is the reason so many of the confrontations are so intense.     Valiant continues to put out some of the most amazing books with a level of skill and talent that should make the rest of the industry sit up take notice and quake a little in the collective boots. This is why I fell in love with comics to begin with.
