Jay becoming evil and Zane suddenly being treated as equipment and acting less like Zane almost seems like it links.

Because none of us should forget that the first person who humanised, was non-judgmental, understanding and quickly accepting to Zane’s non-human insides was Jay.

Before the big reveal, in the early seasons Zane was still considered strange and weird. His personality and the way he behaved was strange to others and the ninja, and despite Jay still thinking that, he was one of the first people to not judge Zane based off of such a thing and was even willing to help him understand how to socialise more. I mean yeah sure he was still a butt towards Zane at times but he never actually hated or judged Zane for who he was.

When Zane’s reveal as a nindroid was shown to them Jay quickly jumps in with how despite the fact that Zane isn’t human, that doesn’t mean he isn’t still Zane. Nothing changed when they found out Zane was a nindroid because he was always a nindroid, they just know that now. Jay even starts making jokes about it five seconds later, this man has horrible timing.

Jay himself seems like before the ninja he was always overly self conscious about how his life was like and how his quirks made him behave, so i think when he first met Zane he wasn’t just going to judge and push him away but instead help him and accept him.

Now, with Jay being evil and having worked under the same group that is calling Zane equipment and unable to actually feel, is there anyone out there who will actively encourage and support Zane through who he is? Pixal my love come back and fix your man’s horrible mental health. Maybe smack him with the broom your face is on.

So. Me and one of my partners has been watching Ninjago. I showed them Proselytized, and we both enjoy it a totally healthy amount. <- lying.

And! I decided to make this artwork for our Spotify playlist for the AU :) had a lot of fun with this one, especially with some of the glowing effects.

Pretending his toothbrush is a sword and looking all smug as toothpaste flys around. I know for a fact Jay and Cole mocked him after that. Zane has to remind them that they got bested by a guy with a toothbrush (he has a full recording of the entire thing, it’s blackmail)

Oh hey look an excuse to ramble about your AU

Oh yes lets GO

Alright so, highschool part comes in where, instead of them working at Wus school (sorgy I can never remember the name) they end up going to highschool cause yknow they're still teenagers. Cue everyone fighting for their lives (two probably never even went to school, one went to the worlds worst boarding school, ones a robot so youd think hed do well but this is highschool hes cooked and the last two probably haven't been to school for years.)

They do still go to Borg Industries though, its a school trip w their class (bc ngl it feels more like a trip a highschool would have anyways) and Jay still autisms about it. Overlords also much more subtle in this AU, its a slow takeover, mostly bc the ninja are busy w school, so when they go visit no one realises anythings wrong, aside from Jay getting a Bad Feeling.

Heres where we get kinda messy bc I have 3 different ideas for how Jay gets snatched.

First is during the field trip, Jay sneaks off to go investigate the rest of the building because of that bad feeling he's getting and he's just curious. Ends up getting grabbed while going into the factory area.

Second is a while after the field trip, Jay ends up telling the others abt how suspicious Borg Industries is being. No one believes him and he runs off after school to try do his own investigation, it goes as well as you can expect.

Thirds after they all realise "oh shit the Overlords here and took over Borg Industries" and during their first fight with the Nindroids Jay gets jumped.

Now, why does Overlord want Jay specifically? His powers, he has enough energy to power the other Nindroids and anything else he may need. Plus in the first two options Jay gets way too close for comfort to discovering the truth. (And some other reasons that im a bit too brainfogged to remember)

Oh and there's no Cole/Nya/Jay love triangle, Nya either doesn't use the machine or calls bull on it due to results other girls in her class got. (I'll probably still give Jay and Cole something to beef about so dw/silly)
