Thinking about S2 finale...
I had this thought in my head for a few days now... I wonder how much the crippling guilt of "killing" Joy would've have fucked up with Nina's head.
Like we as the audience (and Sibuna too obv) know that it wasn't Nina herself that "killed"Joy. But Nina, with her 'self-blame' tendencies, truly believes that Joy's death was 100% her fault.
In the lens of: " I tried to do the right thing... and in the end I killed someone." & "It was all my fault, I shouldn't have put the mask on". These type of thoughts spiral into " I am a danger to everyone around me."
So I wonder how much the guilt of hurting someone must have impacted her decision to not to come back to Anubis the year after. Like personally, it makes more sense than the "Chosen One and Osirian can't be in the same room" bullshit.
What do y'all think?
#house of anubis#hoa#nina martin#joy mercer#nina martin meta#idk if this makes sense but I hope I got my point across#btw if you want to talk about it more I'm always ready for a full analysis of these characters!#I love character analysis sooo much#And i'm always open to read/listen to different interpretations#Btw these are only my thoughts if you don't agree i'm open to a civil discussion...

(I finally figured out how to do the multi picture table thingy, it was easy.) Damn. The last NEW art thing I posted on Tumblr was eight months ago. I think highly of "Supa Paypa Sistas", even though it was a bit rushed. But for while after ehh June? I was totally burnt out and I didn't feel like making or doing anything artistic. Luckily, that changed during July and August when I became inspired because I did a bit of * t r a v e l i n g ! * and just getting out of the house and exposing myself to other things. Unfortunately, not enough music... but I'll get to that soon.
So what are these drawings? I hope you like my OC (Nina) because she's fucking everywhere, and all but two of these drawings are concepts/ideas that revolve around her world. In fact, let's get those two out the way:
The Sonic one (#6): it was made after I taught my brother how to draw Sonic and Daria (he forced me to, send help). He has the paper I drew the prototype on, so if I can get that paper, I will post it. The two Sonics are based on the depictions of him during the 90s, from Japan (the left) and North America (right). No European, though, sorry. While the American Sonic is based more on Greg Martin's work, Japan's Sonic is now an amalgamation of a lot of the Sonic I've drawn in my life because my spark to draw arose FROM Sonic CD, so that specific Sonic is the one I've known most. They have sentences near them too. JP Sonic's quote is reference to Sonic CD. Not anything specific, but a central message/theme of the vocal songs to believe in yourself. Obviously, US Sonic's quote is a reference to one of his catchphrases spoken by Jaleel White in the cartoons.
Next is the two-point perspective practice (#9). Nothing much else. It looks decent, I think, but what do you think? I didn't have a ruler on hand for any of these perspective drawings, so every gridline you can see was hand drawn and looks like sewing stitches.
Ok then, let's talk Nina.
Drawings #1, #2, and #8 include Clearix Forest. #8 isn't really that place, but it's what I thought of while I was drawing, so I've included it with the other two just because. Now, I want draw attention to the trees before anything else. #1 prominently features this Emerald Hill-esque palm tree as an odd one out of what I think are weeping willows. #2 has all the trees the same palm-lookin' trees at different heights, which I like in this drawing, but in execution of the "real thing", whenever that comes, it's not what I want. The rainforest is said (by me, the creator LOL) to have the most diversity in vegetation of all the land. *looks at notes* Wait no it doesn't. It just says it has the most vegetation of all the land, no diversity. But just by having the most, isn't that enough to mean "oh there's a lot of different greens in this green hell maze right?" right? #8 also shits on the stale vegetation AND the fact the rainforest is NOT flat, it does have a few slopes, but not as crazily varied of slopes as Lunar Valley. Speaking of Lunar Valley...
#7, fittingly, is just a valley with a river running down the middle. Lunar Valley is not structured like this. It does have rivers and streams, but not one big central one flowing through it all. This valley illustrated here is not supposed to be Lunar Valley, but I thought of this place while drawing. Again, it is not Lunar Valley. BECAUSE THE SUN IS THERE OMG oh wait #2 is a more accurate depiction of what it looks like. See for yourself. Nina is in shock of the world she lives in.
#3 was one of the post-burnout drawings that sprang from my mind. Well err, I suppose everything here is post-burnout, it's just this one was of the earliest artworks I have scanned, but anyways, this drawing is a meta joke on how Nina's arms reach past where they would end for any normal human, assuming the particular person has arms in the first place. But hey, the best part is she'll give the warmest, but probably tighter hugs since her arms can constrict.
#5 is another inaccuracy of the world. It might not be, I haven't decided yet, but most likely it won't be because of the flowers AND the Bob Ross lookin' ass fence you see down there (who put that fence there). Lunar Valley does have flower. Singular. But it only sprouts at night and when the moon shines in the sky. You can also see Mt. Ebott Undertale in the distance here because that's part of the story.
Lastly, #4 represents my connection to my character. One of my cousins called it "sus" (insert Jerma face) and I can't understand why. What, is it phallic? Personally, I don't think it matters since that's not the point or the imagery I was going for. It's just two hands (one is a claw) touching via index fingers. Also I don't care what you think it is, unless I purposefully leave it up to the viewers' interpretation.
Hey! Check out this cool stuff I made outside of my sketchbook. Also know as "Man-I-Wish-I-Bought-My-Sketchbook-But-At-Least-I-Have-My-Notebook" Drawings. A mouthful, right? Let me introduce to you to these notebook brain-children.
Let's get this out the way right now, Super Sonic, Nina, and the cake were drawn in the same night.
It's been a VERY long time since I've drawn a Super Sonic as good as this--I'm talking, what? 2014?? I think??? It was a nice coloured one, too. I liked it so much I cut it out and taped it to my wall. I remember I overlapped one of his lines wrong so his ear looked weird. So why does this one have hot dog shoes and a 15min above his hand? It was getting late, had shit to do.
Nina is back at it again, doing Nina things. Here, I drew her without boots this time. I don't have a reason why I did that night, but I think it's good to know what they might actually look like since it's not a part I'm too focused on for her anatomy. I mean, I have drawn them before, just look at my #Inktober2021 posts, she's in there somewhere with them... DOGS out. Sorry, I thought that'd be amusing anyway, the bottom line is that a lot of idea and study has to go into an animated character, y'know what I'm saying? ...wait i just noticed her left hand is fucked. she has two right hands HWAT HAVE I DONE--
CAKE! just CAKE!
Perhaps the most sentimental to me: the nacho bear. It wasn't a commission, @molly_bender_art just, asked me to draw a bear with sunglasses eating something, but I think she asked for cheese, specifically. Looking at it now, it probably was cheese. Please check out her stuff, maybe commission her? Just sayin', schwing by!
Addendum: Apr. 20, 2024. The nacho bear was something I had posted to my Instagram on Aug. 21, 2023. That post gave the drawing a silly narrative with writing that was inspired by the Arabian Nights book (that I have to start over because I stopped reading when the summer ended, and if I go too long without reading an in-progress book, I feel like I have to start ALL over). The post read:
@molly_bender_art this fo' u boo ;) The bear, marveling with exceeding marvel, gasped "THE NACHO!" It shined with such a brightness that the bear's sunglasses almost weren't enough; they were cheap specs.
Okay, okay, you might be bored of reading this, but rest assured, this is the last part, you can probably see the end of the post, I bet. So, along with the burnout came a dry spell of no animation. Not even flash animation. Well recently, I put together two animations just to get my footing back, called "yes, sir" and "ból". It's all practice; the first one looks fine, using the cube drawing technique I did back in Nina's test pilot, but the ball's physics are off a bit. It just sorta...increases velocity more than it should after being thrown up. Furthermore, the wall bouncing should loss strength after each bound. It's been a while since I did physics, please correct me if I'm wrong about what I said. ok..... so why does Tumblr look like Twitter now?

WEIRD: THE AL YANKOVIC STORY (2022)
Starring Daniel Radcliffe, Evan Rachel Wood, Rainn Wilson, Toby Huss, Julianne Nicholson, Quinta Brunson, David Bloom, Spencer Treat Clark, Dot-Marie Jones, “Weird Al” Yankovic, Will Forte, Scott Aukerman, James Preston Rogers, Tommy O'Brien, Nina West, Arturo Castro, Conan O'Brien, Jack Black, Jorma Taccone, Akiva Schaffer, Demetri Martin, Paul F. Tompkins, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Patton Oswalt, Thomas Lennon and Nat Faxon.
Screenplay by “Weird Al” Yankovic and Eric Appel.
Directed by Eric Appel.
Distributed by Roku Originals. 108 minutes. Not Rated.
Screened at the 2022 Philadelphia Film Festival.
I’m not big on superlatives and I find it hard to believe I’m about to write this, but Weird: The Al Yankovic Story is the funniest film comedy I’ve seen all year. By a long shot.
Now I know that sounds strange. And before you ask, no I’m not a Weird Al superfan, although I like him well enough. (Who doesn’t?) I’ve never seen (or had much urge to see) his previous attempt at film stardom with UHF, although I have heard relatively good things about it over the years.
And yet, I say it again – Weird: The Al Yankovic Story is absolutely hysterical.
As you may get from the title, it is a takeoff on the traditional rock and roll bio pics, although it is very, very loosely based on the life of Yankovic. Or, as it is described online: “The unexaggerated true story about the greatest musician of our time. From a conventional upbringing where playing the accordion was a sin, ‘Weird Al’ Yankovic rebels and makes his dream of changing the words to world-renowned songs come true. An instant success and sex symbol, Al lives an excessive lifestyle and pursues an infamous romance that nearly destroys him.”
This deviation from pure fact is what makes it so funny. Imagining the goofy, good-natured, teetotaling novelty singer Yankovic as a surly drunken rock star is comedy gold. And imagining a world where a man can conquer the rock charts with a Hawaiian shirt, an accordion and a dream – to make up funny words to other people’s songs – is just so weird that it can only be true. Or true-ish.
I mean come on, just the idea alone of Daniel Radcliffe (aka Harry Potter) playing Weird Al is meta enough to blow your mind. And he does a damned good job of it, too.
And I haven’t even mentioned the Pablo Escobar and Madonna connections, nor when (according to Weird), Michael Jackson plagiarized Al’s magnum opus.
It’s silly, it’s stupid and it’s undeniably funny.
Weird Al himself even has a bit part as one of the Scotti Brothers, the record label owners who signed him and released his early records. (Other Scotti Bros. acts which became marginal stars included Survivor, John Paul Young, John Cafferty & the Beaver Brown Band and Leif Garrett.)
One slight caveat... Weird: The Al Yankovic story was made as an original production for the new streaming machine Roku, which very few people have, so it may take some work to track the movie down. You can stream it on Roku’s website as well. More to the point, having seen it on a big screen at the Philadelphia Film Festival with a hysterical crowd (and Weird Al in the house), I realize that a theater is the way that it should be seen. (With or without Weird Al.) Weird is a film that works a lot better as a community experience than it would sitting alone watching it at home. They really should have given it a brief theatrical release.
But see it any way that you can. It’s that funny.

I'm having the weirdest experience. Last night, between sickness and insomnia, I watched a rather delirious 1991 thriller called DEFENSELESS in which attorney Barbara Hershey defends Mary Beth Hurt against the charge of murdering her husband. The first scene is pictured in image #1: a made-up porno called BALL BUSTERS.
Then we pull back to "real life", where BALL BUSTERS is being edited in a studio that is decorated with some attention-grabbing posters.
On the right is NUDES ON THE MOON, which has also been fabricated for DEFENSLESS, having nothing to do with the similarly-titled 1961 nudie cutie from Doris Wishman. On the left is...an actual poster for the REAL porno movie BALL BUSTERS, directed by historic smut king Alex De Renzy.
No sooner did this get my attention, than DEFENSELESS introduces the idea that this porn studio is in hot water for releasing a movie featuring a 14 year old actress. That's of interest because the real-actual guy Alex De Renzy is tied to the child porn legacy of Traci Lords, who starred in his movie WILD THINGS...
[No I'm not going to post images from illegal pornos Ms. Lords would sooner forget, but if you're interested in her, you should look up the cool story of John Waters performing a private custom baptism for her so she could live free of her difficult past]
I must underline the fact that DEFENSELESS has nothing in common with gritty works of realism like HARDCORE or porny meta fantasies like BODY DOUBLE. It's basically a run of the mill erotic thriller of the period, if a little zanier than some...but why does it seem to use the Traci Lords scandal as a sort of arbitrary backdrop for its completely ordinary drama? I looked up the writer James Hicks (aka James Cresson), among whose three credits is Sidney Lumet's THE MORNING AFTER, which I randomly *just* watched on a totally different platform, which threw me for another loop... The director Martin Campbell made a couple of Bond movies and that unwatchable GREEN LANTERN movie... Nobody seems to have circulated any trivia about this movie. I just have no explanation for this. I only know that if it had been up to me, DEFENSELESS would have had Nina Hartley defending Ginger Lynn for killing Jamie Gillis over his involvement in the Traci Lords scandal, and wouldn't it have been fun to have Alex De Renzy come on and play himself?

Lunge and Eva: “I am Tenma“
Hello anon!
I think you are referring to this:
This is also true because of society incarnated by Lunge (a justice blind to the truth) and Eva (the corruption within society). It is not by chance that because of these two characters Tenma ends up becoming a suspect and is persecuted by society when he himself is trying to protect it.
The extract is from this meta, if anyone is interested.
Anyway, I think I have to clarify what I wrote since after receiving your ask I reread some parts related to Lunge and Eva’s characters and my pov slightly changed.
In summary, Eva and Lunge are the two people who are mostly at fault for Tenma being hunted by the police:
Eva, as a witness, and Lunge, as a detective, have both worked to have Tenma arrested. This is interesting because one of the themes explored by the series is how the judicial system works. In particular, the series offers a commentary on the death penalty and eventually refuses it. This is very well expressed through Nina’s arc:
Nina starts the series by wishing to become a public prosecutor, so that she can have criminals condemned, while she ends it by wanting to become a lawyer, so that she can save people’s lives. This mirrors her starting the story by shooting Johan and ending it by forgiving her brother.
That said, the story is full of characters who work as detectives, criminal psychologists, lawyers and so on and all together these characters describe a system which does its best, but is also flawed because ultimately the people in there are just people and so they are inherently flawed. However, It is only through these people’s struggle that a solution of the case is eventually possible.
Eva and Lunge are two characters who convey exactly this through their arcs. They are two flawed cogs of the system and because of their mistakes and flaws they end up putting an innocent man in trouble. However, they also show that they can change and by the end they are both willing to amend their mistakes and to make sure Tenma is recognized as innocent.
What is more, Tenma becomes for both Lunge and Eva what Johan is for Tenma and Nina. As a matter of fact Tenma and Nina run after Johan, while Eva and Lunge pursue Tenma. However, the two chases are actually different. On one hand Nina and Tenma are hunting Johan because they both know he is the culprit behind many crimes. At the same time Johan is a representation of Nina and Tenma’s darkest parts, so their search for him becomes soon a self-search. On the other hand Lunge and Eva are trying to find Tenma despite Tenma not being guilty and they are doing so because of their respective flaws. Basically Nina and Tenma’s search for Johan is something which leads the two characters to face their most repressed parts, while Lunge and Eva’s search is something which they use to avoid facing their shortcomings.
This is why the two hunts end up differently as well. In the end Nina and Tenma find Johan and save/forgive him and in this way they save/forgive themselves. When it comes to Eva and Lunge, they stop pursuing Tenma and even apologise to him:
This is because they can finally face their flaw and recognize that they were using Tenma as a scapegoat to avoid facing it. It is not by chance that towards the last part of the story both Lunge and Eva try to go after Johan instead of Tenma. It is because they can see the evil within themselves clearly and so they have finally become able to fight the evil outside with more assertiveness.
So what are the flaws Eva and Lunge have, but do not want to face? They actually share a common flaw which shows itself in different ways because of Eva and Lunge’s opposite personalities:
The both of them define themselves through Tenma and they do so because they are scared of who they really are. They fear being empty inside hence they need to chase Tenma to feel that they are still people.
This meta will explore this and how Eva and Lunge seem opposite in their respective behaviours, but are actually very similar.
EVA: THE EMOTIONAL WITNESS
It is interesting that among all characters, Eva is the one who states this:
This line is important for two distinctive reasons.
1) These words hide a tragic contradiction. If life has no value per se, but it gains value because of some attribute the person has (e.g money, status, etc.), then if that person were to lose said attribute even their life could lose value. This idea is at the root of Eva’s character. She does not give her life any value, but values herself only because of external factors. In other words, her arc can be used as an example of how damaging it is for the person herself not to treat life in general as something precious. In the end the disrespect of others’ lives can lead to the inability of appreciating one’s own life.
2) In the scene above, Eva is backing up her father’s position and this shows how much she has been influenced by him.
Even when we consider this scene:
Eva is basically repeating what her father has just done:
Both the substance of what happens and the way it happens are similar. Both Eva and her father break up an agreement they had with Tenma and they both do so after tricking him into thinking he could still count on them.
In short, since the very beginning it is clear that Eva is really her father’s child and this is why she suffers a breakdown when her father dies:
She has an extremely strong emotional reaction and shows no ability to dominate her emotions of grief to the point that she mistreats the people who are trying to console her.
So, point 1) establishes that Eva does not value her life in itself, but gives it value because of something external. Point 2), instead, tells us what is that gives Eva’s life value.
Eva Heinemann’s life has value because she is her father’s daughter. She has defined herself completely through him (his status, his vision of life, etc.) and this is why when he dies she is not able to stand on her own two feet. In other words, Eva’s problem is that she is not emotionally independent. She is ultimately still a child even if she should be an adult woman.
This is why, after her father’s death, she tries to find someone else she can depend on. She goes through three marriages not because she really falls in love with her partners, but because she needs someone who puts her on a pedestal and nurtures her. However, this is not the kind of relationship you are supposed to have with a partner where you should be able to support them in return. Eva is not able to even support herself, so she has no ability to support the other person. This is probably why all her previous relationships have failed.
After seven years since her father’s death, Eva has started drinking and is clearly unhappy. Because of this, she clings to two things which remind her of the life she had when she was happy.
1) Her status/money.
2) Tenma.
1) At first glance, Eva’s love for luxury seems to be her defining trait and it is surely an important part of her personality. That said, it is clearly something she inherited from her father who was ready to let poor people die and to save the rich. Eva’s unhealthy love for mundane things is a consequence of the education she received and of the kind of life her father got her accostumed to.
In short, the way Udo brought Eva up left her utterly dependent on others both emotionally (she has no sense of worth if nobody validates her) and economically:
Eva has not been taught any kind of job because she was expected to marry a rich man and to live a mundane life where she only had to worry about dressing up and meeting people.
However, as she starts living the kind of life her father dreamt for her, Eva realizes she does not really want it. What she really needs is someone she can depend on, not only materialistically, but spiritually as well. This is why she latches on to Tenma.
2) Tenma used to be Eva’s boyfriend when her father was still alive, so he comes to represent “happy times” for Eva. What is more, Tenma’s personality is helpful and nurturing and these are the kind of traits Eva needs.
In other words, Eva keeps obsessing over Tenma because he has become a symbol of what her life used to be. Because of this, he is the last hope she has of finding her past happiness once again.
It is interesting that, as Eva’s spiral escalates, she damages both her status and Tenma himself.
For example, she sets her own mansion on fire:
And she decides to destroy Tenma’s life:
These destructive behaviours are actually self-destructive ones because Eva is the one who is the most damaged by them.
What is more, Eva’s complete inability to manage herself and her explosive feelings leads her to be constantly used by others:
Roberto easily tricks her by using Eva’s need to be loved and later on she is used by Capek to find Johan. She is constantly seen by Tenma’s enemies as his weak point and a weapon to use against him. Roberto tries to use Eva to kill Tenma and later on he uses her as a hostage forcing Tenma to run away from prison. Finally, Capek uses Eva’s information of Johan, which should have helped Tenma, to find Johan and to involve the boy in a horrible plan which will lead to the deaths of many people.
Let’s highlight that all of this is a consequence of Eva not being able to take the reins of her own life. As her “witness” motif suggests she can only observe others’ happiness without truly being able to find her own. She observes what happens and is a victim of the events because of her own inability of finding an equilibrium. She can only spiral further and further because she keeps trying to find the reasons of both her happiness and unhappiness in others and not in herself.
Because of this, Eva clearly despises herself:
Eva wants to be saved, but does not believe she deserves saving.
This is why her relationship with Martin is so important. While Eva is with him she is apparently offered everything she wants:
She is given money and clothes and she can spend her time attending parties. She is also given Martin who she tries to dress up, so that he can look like Tenma. Basically, she is given a fake life to live in a golden cage made of all her wishes. However, as she lives it, she realizes she dislikes it and that this fake life is really not that much different from the one she used to have.
This is when her relationship with Martin becomes important:
As this conversation shows, Martin and Eva share important similarities and at the same time they are complementary. First of all, their lives have both been defined by a parent and their death. Eva has become who she is because her father treated her as a spoiled princess, while Martin has grown the way he is because, since when he was little, he had to act as the guardian of his mother:
When Eva’s father dies, she loses her emotional support, while Martin has always felt guilt for the death of his mother. What is more, both have kept searching in their romantic relationships someone similar to their lost parent. On one hand Eva obsesses over a doctor ready to do anything for her. On the other hand Martin’s girlfriend used to have an addiction and Martin tried to help her out of it.
Finally both of them feel guilty for what they did to their ex-partners. To be more specific, Eva feels guilty for something she thought about doing (killing Tenma), while Martin feels guilty for something he did not do (he left his girlfriend without trying to help her and she killed herself).
Because of this similarities and differences, Martin and Eva end up developing a close bond. On one hand Martin wants to help Eva, so that he can find closure with his survival guilt. On the other hand Eva meets someone who has seen her at her worst, but who still thinks she deserves to live and to be happy. Morevoer, Eva is given once more the chance to obtain what she has been wishing for throughout the whole series. As a matter of fact Martin tells her to meet with Tenma, so that she can be reunited with him. However, Eva refuses and chooses to wait for Martin at the train station instead. In other words, Eva chooses Martin over Tenma and shows that she has stopped chasing after a dream and has started to face reality.
In the end Martin dies to protect Eva, but his last words are the words which solve Eva’s arc:
Even if Eva is a horrible person her life still has value. It has value in itself without Eva having to do anything to prove her worth. What is more, she does not need to have anything special to be happy. As she states at the end remembering Martin:
Happiness is waiting for someone or eating the sandwich offered to you by a child. Just by waiting for tomorrow one can be happy.
In the end Eva is able to overcome her dependance on Tenma. In this way she can become her own person:
This is underlined also by her finding her own career path. She can finally stop spending her days in her mansion and depending completely on others and she can choose who she wants to be. This is also why Eva’s last action in the series is to dispose of her album:
The album is one she made out of articles involving Tenma and her father plus some personal pictures. It represents both her past, which she is finally leaving behind, and her obsession for Tenma. The album is also a witness of the whole story since by reading it one can understand what happened. In other words, Eva letting go of it symbolizes that she herself can stop being a “witness” (aka a passive observer who reacts to things) and can start living her own life as an active player.
She is starting to move on because, as both her and her psychologist state:
LUNGE: THE RATIONAL DETECTIVE
This is how Lunge is introduced:
Lunge is a detective and a good way to analyze him is to focus on his method of investigation which makes use of two different skills:
On one hand Lunge has invented a way to remember things by associating them to specific movements of his fingers. When he observes something he “types” it by moving his fingers on an invisible keyboard. In this way, he’ll be able to remember things after years by symply repeating the same movements. On the other hand Lunge is able to “become” the killer by impersonating them. He keeps repeating that he is a certain person and is able to go so far in his impersonification, that he can easily understand their reasonings and their feelings.
These two skills are interesting because they seem opposite on the surface. The first method uses Lunge’s super-human memory, which is so impressive that the narrative compares it to that of a machine. The comparison is conveyed to the reader thanks to the act of typing, which is what people do to write a file on a computer. In Lunge’s case, it is as if he himself is the computer where the file is going to be saved. The second method is very similar to what an actor does when they have to study for a part. Lunge is able to empathize with the person he is hunting so much that he “becomes” them and can easily say how they will act. Basically, the first technique relies on Lunge’s almost mechanical rationality, while the second one on his sense of empathy. The first one embodies objectiveness, while the second one embodies subjectiveness.
It seems strange that such completely opposite things can coexist. However, later on we are offered this explanation:
According to this way of describing the two skills, they are nothing more than two faces of the same coin. They are two distinctive parts of a single method which always leads to the solution of a case.
However, if that is the case, then why does Lunge fail when it comes to Tenma?
The answer is here:
It is because ultimately both techniques have their root in Lunge’s subjectivity. As the scene above says, it is impossible for an individual not to interpret the information they are given. It is something natural and a mechanism our brain uses to think better and to organize information. Human brains are flexible and to keep that flexibility they need to simplify the information they gather to an extent. In other words, nobody would be able to remember something in a completely objective way. Lunge is no exception, even if he tries his best to be one.
The result of him trying to be an exception is that he suffocates his sense of self. He needs to register everything objectively and at the same time he needs to be able to become anyone. However, you can’t do this unless you yourself become nobody in the process. In order to register everything objectively Lunge must not filter it with his opinions. Moreover, in order to welcome others’ feelings within himself, he must keep his own feelings repressed.
This repression leads Lunge to progressively become empty to the point that the only thing which defines him is his investigative method. This is why he needs it to be infallible:
In other words, Lunge defines himself through his work as a detective. The chapter The Only Man Left makes it clear:
Let’s compare these two scenes which happen respectively at the beginning and at the end of that chapter.
In the first one, Lunge shows no interest in Tenma’s case because he thinks he has already solved it. He thinks he completely understands Tenma’s reasoning, so he is not motivated in pursuing him.
This shows something important:
Lunge is ultimately not interested in justice or in the victim of a crime. Who he is interested in is the criminal. He uses his method to understand the criminal better than they themselves do and this is Lunge’s pride.
This leads to two considerations.
1) Lunge is quite arrogant because he thinks that he can completely understand another person just by mechanically applying his method. This is disproven in the chapter itself where his aggressiveness in pursuing the case leads to the death of the suspect’s secretary. What is more, he has understood nothing about Tenma.
2) The relationships Lunge develops in his mind with the criminals are his only relationships. As a matter of fact they are the only people Lunge shows interest in:
He is able to solve almost any case, but ignores everything about his family to the point that his wife and his daughter leave him. By the end of the chapter, Tenma is really the only relationship Lunge has left.
In short, the person called Lunge does not exist outside his job. This is why him taking a “vacation” is symbolically a sign of him starting to grow and to leave behind a toxic mindset:
Of course the vacation turns out not to be a real vacation since Lunge keeps investigating. However, he does so with a different approach and with a more open mind. Because of this, he finally realizes the truth and is able to target the real culprit.
It is interesting that towards the end of the series Lunge works with Grimmer because Grimmer’s arc is similar to Lunge’s.
Grimmer is a person whose feelings are repressed exactly like Lunge. However, in Grimmer’s case, this repression is a result of abuse, while Lunge chooses to dehumanize himself for the sake of his job:
That said, in the end both Lunge and Grimmer’s feelings emerge:
Lunge’s relationship with Grimmer is highlighted also in the epilogue where he is seen together with Suk and Verdemann on Grimmer’s grave. This final scene is interesting for multiple reasons.
First of all, we are told that Lunge has a new job:
He is a teacher which is a job centered around relationships and communication. This underlines how Lunge has learnt the importance of communicating with others. Only through his relationships with others he can become his own person. Moreover he is also working to rebuild his relationship with his daughter and grandson.
Secondly, both Verdemann and Suk are characters linked to Lunge. To be more precise, Verdemann is Lunge’s foil:
Lunge needs his suspects to be guilty to affirm his own identity, while Verdemann needs his clients to be innocent. Both attitudes hide their sense of self-doubt.
Suk is, instead, a person who was unjustly accused. His story is similar to Tenma’s. However, Lunge’s behaviour towards him is different from the one he has with Tenma. Lunge believes Suk and helps him understand who betrayed him. In this way, Lunge shows to have grown.
Finally, all the three men on Grimmer’s grave are people involved with the judicial system. Lunge and Suk are/used to be policemen, while Verdemann is a lawyer. They tell Grimmer that he has been proven innocent of the crimes he was accused. This is symbolic of how justice can make mistakes, but can also amend them. That said, it is interesting that Lunge says this:
He accepts that, despite the case having been solved, there are still many things they don’t know about Grimmer and they are things they can’t discover by simply studying a file. In short, Lunge accepts that a person is more than a case to decipher.
A COFFE AND A BEER
Eva and Lunge’s arcs are quite similar. Both run after Tenma to run from who they are. Both start facing who they are around the time Tenma is arrested and in the end they are able to move on from their obsession for him. However, a person they care about dies in the process.
What makes them different is that Eva can’t control her emotions, while Lunge represses them. Eva depends too much on others, while Lunge does not let himself depend on anyone. Eva is introduced as Tenma’s girlfriend and wants to be this forever, while Lunge is introduced as a detective and wants to be this forever. However, the narrative won’t let them and challenges them to change.
Their parallel and yet opposite arcs are well conveyed through the relationships they have with alcohol:
On one hand Eva is an alcoholist and by the end of the series she stops drinking. On the other hand Lunge has given up on mundane things like a beer with friends, so by the end of the story he is seen offering one to Grimmer. This is because Eva must become more responsible and self-dependent, while Lunge must losen up.
Thank you very much for the ask anon! I had a lot of fun writing it!

The Cramps, New York Dolls,..

I'm sorry that it took me so long to reply but i wanted to gather my thoughts into coherent sentences. ( task failed )
@fakeosirian are we literally the same person???????
BECAUSE FABIAN SEETHING ABOUT NOT BEING THE OSIRIAN IS 100% THE REASON WHY I NEVER WANTED HIM TO BE!
I fully believe Fabian (after Sibuna found out who the Osirian was) wasn't okay with it not being him in the slightest... l m a o.
Fabian dealing with his pride and ego, that while he has always been there for Nina he isn't her protector???? *chef's kiss* That even if he did the all protecting out of his own free will ( which he doesn't think he should be rewarded for... because fabian doesn't expect anything in return of being a decent human being, let's be clear here ) he still can't help the jealousy that he feels when he realised there is literally a special figure designed as "the Chosen One protector" and that it isn't him?!?!?!?I
And I think there is something about the way Fabian wants to be in "control" of the situation at all times ( which i think stems from anxiety and fear of losing said control ) and that him not being the Osirian is actually the first manifestation of this very fear that makes him sooo resentful could unlock such an amazing dynamic !
For example, Fabian seeing the way Nina and Eddie - that never spoke to each other until 5 minutes ago - immediately understand each other in ways the Brit could never comprehend? (like hearing voices, the world's fate on your shoulders??? y'know Chosen Duo shit💅) and seething in the background.
And while I don't think he actively tried to make Nina and Eddie feel bad about something they couldn't even control... it wouldn't have suprised me in the slightest if his resentment kind of made it difficult for him to really be honest with Nina about what was troubling him and made their relationship kind of strained ( because those two are so afraid of being honest with one another and talking about their own flaws because they can't help acting as everything is fine when it's clearly isn't 🤦♀️)
And I think it would have added another layer to Feddie dynamic... like -> " I would die for you... but I still can't help the resentment I feel for something I know you can't control." type of deal
Just the idea of Fabian and Eddie not getting along, just because Fabian is in his own head and his ego gets in the way of their friendship???? *chef kiss*
Idk... there is something about Sibuna and their undying love and loyalty towards each other and adding elements to their dynamic to make it much more complicated ( with anger, resentment and jealousy) but even with all those negative emotions, they would still be ride-or-die with one another, never hesitating to save each other over and over again -> makes everything much more interesting than "everyone gets along and everything is fine!"
This turned into a character meta...ops?
I know that what i'm about to say is the unpopular opinion ( lol i don't think anyone suprised by that 💀) but i will say it nonetheless:
I really like the idea that Nina's Osirian wasn't actually Fabian.
Because if he was ( in my personal and humble opinion) it would diminish Fabian as a character.
Fabian doesn't need to have a supernatural connection to be there for Nina. With this, I mean that he doesn't need an external force that drives him to protect Nina.
Because then everything that Fabian did do, to protect her, wouldn't feel earned. It would be something that he did, only because he would've been compelled to do so, even if he didn't want to.
But if he doesn't have this external connection (that forces him to protect Nina) everything he did was out of his own free will, which means he willingly tried to take that step and keep her safe. And that is much better character wise imho.
And while there is evidence that Fabian was being set up as Nina's Osirian in S2, I'm glad the writers changed their minds, even if "Eddie' is Nina's Osirian" twist was handled horribly.
Okay, rant over.

For the week of 22 July 2019
Quick Bits:
A Walk Through Hell #12 concludes what has been an excellent horror tale from Garth Ennis, Goran Sudžuka, Ive Svorcina, and Rob Steen with another trip into existential terror as we’re given a glimpse of what this is all about and what’s coming.
| Published by AfterShock
Action Comics #1013 keeps a lot of plates spinning as it works through elements of “Year of the Villain”, Event Leviathan, the ongoing Invisible Mafia story thread, and the Rose and Thorn revival. It’s kind of impressive as to how it remains entertaining and engrossing with as much going on.
| Published by DC Comics
Age of Conan: Bêlit #5 is another ending this week, as we finish off Bêlit’s coming of age origin story, as she confronts the Stygian priest and lays claim to her title of Queen of the Black Coast. Great art from Kate Niemczyk, Scott Hanna, Andrea Di Vito, and Jason Keith.
| Published by Marvel
Amazing Spider-Man #26 introduces us to the new Sinister Syndicate fully as they plan an attack on Boomerang. It’s kind of funny to see him still getting into trouble even now that he’s trying to stay legit. Great art from Kev Walker and Laura Martin.
| Published by Marvel
Ascender #4 gives us a few surprises in the fight between the vampires and the resistance. The grey washes, with mixes of red, from Dustin Nguyen on the vampire’s throneworld is very impressive.
| Published by Image
Batgirl #37 launches the new creative team of Cecil Castellucci, Carmine Di Giandomenico, Jordie Bellaire, and AndWorld Design with part one of “Oracle Rising”. There’s a nice battle with Killer Moth, emphasizing what some villains are doing in order to try to get noticed by Luthor to receive the offer, while playing up the expense that goes into crimefighting. Also, the Terrible Trio unleash something probably not too good.
| Published by DC Comics
Dark Red #5 concludes the first arc as Chip and Evie try to fight off an army of Nazi vampires. It’s good, with some nice funny moments. Great art from Corin Howell and Mark Englert.
| Published by AfterShock
Detective Comics #1008 is a straight-forward single issue story of Batman and Joker at the circus from Peter J. Tomasi, Doug Mahnke, Jaime Mendoza, Dave Baron, and Rob Leigh. It’s a refreshing change of pace from the extended arcs, even as it sets up a new threat in the “Year of the Villain” offering.
| Published by DC Comics
Dial H for Hero #5 gets a little meta as we dive into the Multiverse, the Heroverse, and the Bleed from Sam Humphries, Joe Quinones, Scott Hanna, Jordan Gibson, and Dave Sharpe. The use of breaking through panels, reproductions of old comics scenes, and a variation of styles just deliver phenomenal storytelling.
| Published by DC Comics / Wonder Comics
Dungeons & Dragons: A Darkened Wish #2 continues to fill in the backstory of the adventurers’ time with the White Sails, introducing us to the pitfalls that harried them, before giving more hints in the present of the nightmare that tore them apart. B. Dave Walters, Tess Fowler, Jay Fotos, and Neil Uyetake are delivering an entertaining fantasy tale here.
| Published by IDW
Fearless #1 is a new three-issue anthology mini-series spotlighting a number of the women of Marvel, both characters and creative talent. This first issue leads off with a continuing lead feature from Seanan McGuire, Claire Roe, Rachelle Rosenberg, and Janice Chiang, as Sue Richards, Carol Danvers, and Storm prepare to visit a girls camp as motivational speakers. There’s also an entertaining Mille the Model back-up from Leah Williams, Nina Vakueva, Rosenberg, and Chiang. And a very funny Jessica Jones story from the Captain Marvel team of Kelly Thompson, Carmen Carnero, Tamra Bonvillain, with Chiang. Though short, that last story is pretty much worth the price of the issue alone.
| Published by Marvel
Five Years #3 sees Tambi meet with Ivy and Julie to discuss that various nations around the world are dangerously developing Phi-alloy technology. Also a surprise appearance of people we thought were out. Great art as always from Terry Moore.
| Published by Abstract Studio
The Flash #75 delivers three stories for this extra-sized anniversary issue. The lead concludes the “Year One” arc. This is some of the best art that I have ever seen from Howard Porter, he and Hi-Fi just deliver amazing artwork here. There are also two back-ups, one hinting at things to come in the future for Barry and the other tying in to “Year of the Villain” as Captain Cold receives Luthor’s offer.
| Published by DC Comics
Guardians of the Galaxy #7 begins the second arc, “Faithless”, from Donny Cates, Cory Smith, David Curiel, and Cory Petit. It really introduces us to the new Universal Church of Truth as they take out an entire squadron of the Nova Corps and then worse things happen as the Guardians go off to investigate. I love the name for the Guardians’ new ship and that final page is one hell of a shock.
| Published by Marvel
History of the Marvel Universe #1 is an interesting project from Mark Waid, Javier Rodríguez, Álvaro López, and Joe Caramagna. It’s framed as Galactus telling Franklin Richards (at least I think that’s Franklin Richards) the history of the universe before it dies and the next is reborn. As expected, it’s dry facts, but it’s fascinating in how it’s comprehensively presented and the artwork from Rodríguez and López is jaw-dropping gorgeous. There are also annotations in the back to show where these events come from. It’s well put together and I highly recommended it to die-hard Marvel fans.
| Published by Marvel
Invisible Kingdom #5 concludes the first arc with an almost entirely one-sided battle between the Sun Dog and a Lux battleship. G. Willow Wilson, Christian Ward, and Sal Cipriano elevate the tension nicely through this issue and give a few surprises when everything seems grim and it looks like the end.
| Published by Dark Horse / Berger Books
Killer Groove #3 wonderfully showcases one of Jackie’s cases as it intertwines with the music scene and criminal underworld. Ollie Masters, Eoin Marron, Jordie Bellaire, and Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou are doing a nice job with this series of crafting one larger story out of many separate smaller tales.
| Published by AfterShock
Lazarus: Risen #2 is another dense read. The series has always been hefty, but this new format has elevated things further, doubling up comics content and adding a prose short story, the letters pages, and extra content like gaming material and the usual in-world advertisements. I’m loving it. Greg Rucka, Michael Lark, Tyler Boss, Santi Arcas, Simon Bowland, Adam Christopher, and Crystal Frasier are definitely giving you your money’s worth and more here. Excellent comics content as the war between Carlyle and Morray/D’Souza heats up.
| Published by Image
Livewire #8 pits Amanda versus Jada for a final round. It’s still interesting how practically everyone is trying to portray Amanda’s actions as harmful and villainous. Great art from Kano.
| Published by Valiant
Martian Manhunter #7 sees J’onn and Diane uncover some of the results of the experiments that have been going on with the kidnapped and missing people, it’s horrifying. Incredible and haunting artwork in this one from Riley Rossmo and Ivan Plascencia.
| Published by DC Comics
Marvels: Epilogue is a short, but sweet, coda to the Marvels series from Kurt Busiek, Alex Ross, John Roshell, and Richard Starkings. It spotlights events from X-Men #98 through the eyes of Phil Sheldon and his daughters, capturing some of the awe, wonder, and terror that Sheldon experienced during the main series. The book is filled out with an interview with Busiek and Ross on their experience with the series and what it’s like to look back on it 25 years later, as well as interviews with the editors who worked on the book.
| Published by Marvel
Middlewest #9 sets out a new quest for Abel as he comes across the Nowak people. Skottie Young, Jorge Corona, Jean-Francois Beaulieu, and Nate Piekos are continuing to make magic with this series. The art is beautiful and the story is endlessly captivating.
| Published by Image
Psi-Lords #2 continues to investigate these four captives, changed for whatever reason by the Psi-Lords, and the habitat of their prison. An interesting jail hierarchy of gangs is revealed and a bit of a memory of the four’s lives before being captured. Gorgeous art from Renato Guedes.
| Published by Valiant
Star Pig #1 is weird. Very weird. Delilah S. Dawson, Francesco Gaston, Sebastian Cheng, and Shawn Lee give us the story of a kid on her way to space camp whose ship is struck and destroyed by an asteroid, saved by a space pig and a scavenger energy ball. It’s probably one of the more unique tales I’ve seen in a while.
| Published by IDW
Sword Master #1, like Aero before it, features two stories. In the first, Greg Pak adapts into English a tale from Shuizhu and Gunji of the titular hero, Lin Lie, and his quest to find his missing father. It’s an interesting start and the artwork from Gunji is gorgeous. The back up original story pairs Shang-Chi up with Lin in a story from Greg Pak, Ario Anindito, Rachelle Rosenberg, and Travis Lanham. It follows up on their appearance in the New Agents of Atlas tie-in to “War of the Realms” and presents an interesting antagonist on their trail.
| Published by Marvel
Valkyrie #1 is a wonderful debut from Jason Aaron, Al Ewing, CAFU, Jesus Aburtov, and Joe Sabino. We get some continued supporting cast from Jane Foster’s time as Thor, although with a new status quo, and an interesting hook in trying to track down Dragonfang, the former Valkyrie’s sword. The art from CAFU and Aburtov is beautiful.
| Published by Marvel
Warlord of Mars Attacks #2 continues this crossover of John Carter and Mars Attacks. It’s interesting how it incorporates Edgar Rice Burroughs’ stories as actual things in this world and explains how Mars as a dead planet and one as teeming with life as Barsoom could exist simultaneously.
| Published by Dynamite
The Weatherman Vol. 2 #2 gives us more of a look at the nightmare that has consumed Earth as the crew attempt to find the doctor who might be able to fix everything. It goes about as well as could be expected. The monster designs and execution from Nathan Fox and Moreno Dinisio are incredible.
| Published by Image
Web of Venom: Funeral Pyre #1 is another one-shot catching up on the wider world of Venom as we barrel headlong into Absolute Carnage. Cullen Bunn, Joshua Cassara, Alberto Alburquerque, Jay David Ramos, and Clayton Cowles give us a great story checking in with Andi Benton, the former Mania and occasional sidekick to Flash Thompson’s Venom.
| Published by Marvel
Wonder Woman #75 continues “Return of the Amazons” from G. Willow Wilson, Xermanico, Jesus Merino, Vicente Cifuentes, Romulo Fajardo Jr., and Pat Brosseau. This arc basically brings Wilson’s run around full circle to deal with some of the elements that kicked off her first issue as Diana faces off against Grail. Some really nice double page spreads with border art from Xermanico.
| Published by DC Comics
Other Highlights: Archie #706, Archie vs. Predator 2 #1, Bone Parish #11, Books of Magic #10, Clue: Candlestick #3, Curse Words #23, Doctor Strange #16, Farmhand #10, Freedom Fighters #7, Grumble #8, House of X #1, Justice League Dark #13, Lumberjanes #64, Magic: The Gathering - Chandra #3, Magnificent Ms. Marvel #5, Marvel Action: Avengers #6, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #41, Night Moves #5, Redneck #22, Secret Warps: Arachknight Annual #1, Shuri #10, Star Trek: The Q Conflict #6, Star Wars #69, TMNT: The Rise of the TMNT - Sound Off #1, Tony Stark: Iron Man #14, The Wicked + The Divine #44

White Liberal America: The Ultimate Hypocrite
[SEPTEMBER 18, 2017]
I often tell people that I am always looking for perspective. I tell them that I work in these underprivileged neighborhoods, and that I enjoy putting myself into environments where I am not the majority. The thing is, that statement is flawed at a meta-level. Let me explain: Physically I can be in situations where I am racially the minority. That is true. Socially and psychologically, however, this environment doesn’t exist. In this nation, in this culture, in this current sociopolitical state of the union, I can never be in a place where I am a minority. When you have a skin color like mine and an ethnic background that is whiter than whipped cream itself, you will always be on top of the socio-racial hierarchy. So long as I have my white privilege, I will always, unfortunately, be the majority.
Of the two articles my professor, Ms. Calamari gave us – a news article on Michael Bennett’s encounter with the LVPD, and a much longer article on Colin Kaepernick - I started with the news article on Michael Bennett. It is MUCH shorter, and when faced with multiple tasks – and ample hours to complete them – my ADD will always force me to choose the easiest task first. So, as I drew the concentration from deep within my mind to read this, I was left with a feeling of neutrality, like I was in the same place that I started. It’s easy to feel this way when the news cycle flip-flops between racist police shootings one day and President Trump passively supporting racist motions the next day; the stories of oppressive, systemic racism blur together after a while. America wakes up day after day to see a tweet from our President saying that there is “blame on both sides” during the white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, or that the man brutally shot by a white policeman at a traffic stop, who then bled to death next to his girlfriend and child in their car, was reaching for the gun that he warned the officer about in advance. Ironically, the group in our country with arguably the most influence and power in society – liberal white Americans – see this and think, “Jesus, look what’s happened now. How can something like this happen? I can’t believe this, I am appalled.” We go on and on about how awful the news is, but eventually the dust settles. The chatter ceases. We go back to the quiet before the storm, waiting on the next terrible thing to happen. But in the middle of all the chaos, the shootings and the government instability, in the middle of the habitual action-reaction response of White Liberal America, do we ever stop and think to ourselves about the next step?
In Rembert Browne’s article for the Bleacher Report, Colin Kaepernick Has a Job, Browne quotes a line from Michael Bennett during a conversation they had in relation to the article. Bennett tells Browne, “Boycotting is a form of protest. I think if there is a boycott, it kind of shows that the consumer has power. But then it’s like: What’s the next step?” And that’s the question: what is the next step for White Liberal America? When’s the last time you checked in on the conclusion to a cop killing an innocent minority? Do you know what happened to Michael Brown’s killer? Eric Garner’s? Philando Castile’s? Trayvon Martin’s? My guess is you probably don’t. For no other reason than you probably just don’t know any of those people personally, and therefore (as awful as it may sound), just don’t care enough to check in and see what happened; that’s just basic psychology.
Human psychology is one of the most complex and intricate topics in science to have ever existed. Not only does it explain so much of the most basic and advanced human behaviors, it is also at the same time something that we know so little about. New discoveries and hypotheses are made every day, stacked on top of each other like software updates on an iPhone. The psychology behind Rembert Browne’s article really left me in a different state than the much shorter news article did. While I still cannot see the full picture of the intricacies of racism in America today, I feel that I have gained a broader and deeper understanding of where we are, where we need to be, and why we aren’t there yet. It is truly amazing how all of this – the backlash, the criticism, the discussion made in this article – all stemmed from a simple act of passive resistance from one man.
A common term thrown around the race topic today is institutional racism. However, this term – like GMOs – is something people tend to speak very much of, yet unfortunately know very little about (my rant on GMOs is a topic for another time, though). White Liberal America thinks they know institutional racism, but they don’t. They think they’ve seen the dirty and disgusting, but watching footage of a black man being shot by cops on CNN does not count as exposure to the repulsive reality of our country. White Liberal America has a set of beliefs about racism and equality, but abides by none of them. The second anyone’s wallet starts to feel light or anyone’s circle of comfort gets to thin, they all drop the façade and scatter like rats at the first sign of trouble. Why? Because they can. Because they’re not on the chopping block. They’re not the ones being held against the ground at gunpoint being told not to move or “I will blow your head off”, like Michael Bennett was. No, White Liberal America would rather just watch and support from a Starbucks, far, far away from the danger and the battle. White Liberal America would rather just stay inside and lock the door during a protest, but put a Black Lives Matter sign in the window to tell the world they aren’t racist, like a streak of blood above their doors so that the angel of death passes by their homes.
White Liberal Americans are superficial; their beliefs and opinions on race only go skin-deep. They preach for change and progress, but give up and retreat as soon as faced with the guillotine. To advocate for change means that White Liberal America must not run from adversity and use their fellow African-Americans as a metaphorical meat-shield once people start taking jabs at them. To represent equality means that White Liberal America must put on the gloves and do the dirty work, even if it’s scary. Even if you feel uncomfortable. Even if you feel endangered and unsafe. African-Americans and minorities all over the nation have been feeling this way not because they’re choosing to take a stand, but because they have to take a stand. They are trapped in their battle, and they need our help. Only once we, White Liberal Americans, stop letting others fight these battles for us, will we be able to achieve a post-racial society. The first step in solving a problem is recognizing that there is one; this, we have achieved a long time ago. It is time that we realize the next step and take action to achieve it. But what is the next step? How can we figure that out?
Racism is a fire that is fueled by two things: ignorance and a lack of the truth. Like how water defeats fire, perspective and objectivity are the tools to unlock the passageway to the door – the door that Langston Hughes speaks of when talking with Nina Simone before her death:
One of these days
When you made it
And the doors are open wide
Make sure you tell them exactly where it’s at
So they have no place to hide
And so, while I continue seeking to inject perspective and objectivity into my own life, I invite White Liberal America to do the same. Don’t just let the police shootings and the passive racism of our government become the status quo. Override your human tendency to act in self-preservation. Learn and be woke, and once you have seen the truth, do not run in fear. Stand in the rain and let the storm hit you in full force. Only witches melt from water, after all.

Marketing Edinburgh - all functions now taken in house by the council
Marketing Edinburgh – all functions now taken in house by the council
The council has agreed today to transfer all assets and current staff to the council, apparently fulfilling the barely concealed desire to rid itself of the arms length body and take responsibility for marketing of the Scottish capital in house. In addition the council will contribute £55,000 to the Edinburgh Tourism Action Group (ETAG) to help them implement a tourism and hospitality sector…
