I'm a nightmare for my DM

My brother decided to DM a campaign from Stranger Things, "Hunt for a tesslehydra". I wanted to try something new and I asked him if I can play mystic.

He said, "Yeah, sure. As long as it fits into the team." That was the biggest mistake he'd ever made...

:SPOILERS!:

I was rolling very poorly and being utterly useless until we got through the cursed labyrinth and into the upside down. The whole party was making fun of me but I believe you can imagine that.

We were on a hunt for a demogorgon so we prepared as well as we could. My sister (druid, elf named Nimfadora) set a magic trap, my other brother (barbarian, half-orc named Groot the Crusher [don't ask, it's a long story xD]) Cut his palm to lure the monster as it's drawn by the smell of blood.

I got a shitty stealth roll again so I decided to hang by the trap with Groot. Then after few minutes, the demogorgon showed up.

I got a very shitty roll again and tickled it with 1 psychic damage for the THIRD TIME in this campaign (It's embarrassing). However, the demogorgon started to charge at us, stepped into the trap, FAILED its check and got restrained.

Groot immediately smacked it for 14 with his amazing greatsword, Nimfadora cast the moonbeam at it (even though it saved), dealing 4 damage.

And then... it was the turn of Sylas the Wanderer (my mystic). I had switched my focus to psionic weapon before the battle so I pulled my dagger out.

"Okay, I'll just stab it. With 3 points into the lethal strike, cause I don't like it." So my weapon was now dealing d4 + 3d10 psychic damage on hit. I rolled an attack with advantage (cause it was restrained).

Aaaannd....

...

I rolled a nat 20.

My single stab did 58 POINTS OF DAMAGE. DM facepalmed and started to laugh and cry at the same time. In shock I asked what the demogorgon is at.

"-17..." He uttered in complete despair. It got one-shotted.

Honestly, I couldn't sleep after that. I felt like a little piece of shit. I didn't want to kill it in one hit. By the way, did I mention we were all level 3?! I don't think I did. Well, WE WERE.

I was banned to play mystic ever again after that. And seriously, I'm not even surprised. That was terrifying. The demogorgon totally could've screwed us over but I killed it in one hit because the die wanted me to have a nat 20 when I said I'm going with 3 psi points into this fucking lethal strike.

If anyone knows a good therapist for me and my party, let me know 😫
