Both Nikolai AND Fyodor come bearing gifts! They hand over a heated mattress for Soldan, a new basking light that has multiple settings, various plushies of snakes, and a nice ham to eat!

Bringing everything inside carefully, Soldan disappeared for a minute. Coming back with two gift bags, both were mini hand-made plush keychains. "Here, I made both of 'ya ssomething. These were fun to work on, but took a lot of time and lack of sleep!"

            Truthfully, it is a struggle to keep her expression stern as the two little girls stare up at her with matching teary eyes, quivering bottom lips stained with chocolate, and identical expressions of guilt. ( Perhaps her question of “What on Earth are you three doing?” could have been posed more gently and in a lower pitch. ) 

           She had come across the incident with a sense of legitimate irritation towards the general disregard for her rules and the mess that they had made in their quest for the frozen treat. However, after actually taking a moment to examine the scene before her, Anya is finding it far more difficult to contain the smile that is threatening to break out across her face. The girls’ dresses are undoubtedly ruined. Seeing the brown stains marring the white fabric reminds her of the many times when she, as a child, had also helped herself to the chocolates before removing her gloves ― ‘I understand your frustration now, mama.’ But at least Olga and Maria had the good sense to at least appear guilty in response to having been caught.

           Her son is a different matter altogether. Nikolai, it seems, had swum in the ice cream for every inch of him, from his hair to his diaper, is covered in brown. As he grins up at her from his place on the floor, his chubby little hand still resting in the container and brown eyes sparkling with mischief, another burst of fondness blooms in her chest for her children and Anya can’t help but feel as if she is staring at a younger Dima.

          ❛ Oh? ❜ she confirms, still trying to maintain the facade of disappointment, although she does not doubt for a second that Maria has spoken the truth ( Dima had a habit of struggling to say no to their children ), and her girls nod vigorously in response to her inquiry. Anya finally breaks as more tears gather in their large eyes and before she knows it, in one stride she has crossed the kitchen and is stooping down to embrace her girls. ❛ Well, I suppose papa is the one we will have to punish then for breaking the ‘no ice cream before dinner’ rule, yes? ❜ she consoles, embracing the twins as Maria finally bursts into tears and Olga nods.

          ❛ You have to promise to not be mean to papa! ❜ Maria cries and this time, Anya can’t contain the laugh that escapes as she wraps her own pinky finger around her daughter’s and promises to not be too hard on Dmitry.

Lambert/Ludwik (OC) cutagens, puppy kisses, fluff [masterpost]

During training Lambert is often paired up with Ludwik. The latter, being only two classes older than Lambert is the one closest to the youngest wolf regarding not only age but also skill. With the others having more experience worth decades, there's only so many times Lambert is willing to spar with them, before the frustration hits.

But even if they're technically on the same skill level there's still days when one easily overpowers the other. Today is one of those days. Lambert's insomnia has kept without any real sleep for three days now and yet he has been too pend up to nap with Nikolai or Kacper, finding himself in the courtyard with the others, sword in hand and more often than not on the ground, getting his ass kicked by Ludwik.

“No! Absolutely not, no, no! Get off me, Ludwik, I swear if you don't fuck off right now I'll- No!” There's a round of chuckles echoing through the courtyard, followed by a heavy sigh from Vesemir that is drowned by Lambert's yelping protests and pitiful whines. Ludwik, having won that round, has the brown haired witcher pinned to the ground, straddling his thighs and holding his arms down, while his face is hovering over Lambert's. Lambert kicks and and screams, turns and wiggles under the weight of the wolf, but Ludwik doesn't budge, only grins wider, canines showing and then he opens his mouth and his tongue rolls out and Lambert panics so hard he starts to beg for the other wolves to save him. No one does, too amused by the pups' antics.

Drool meets Lambert's cheek and he whines pitifully, knowing that he has lost that fight and that no one will come to help him. Ludwik, who has unlike Lambert absolutely no problem with behaving like a pup, cackles, before his tongue licks up his own spit and then starts to dart over Lambert's face, licking against his cheekbones and along the line of his beard, over his eyelids and over the bridge of his nose until Lambert is successfully cleaned and covered in Ludwik's smell.

Lambert whines and yips, pouts because he's being ignored by the others. He starts kicking his legs up again, when Ludwik licks against and into his mouth, shutting him up efficiently, knowing full well that Lambert is weak to his pack's kisses. Eventually he gives up, wraps his arms around Ludwik and kisses back, submits to the older wolf without any more fussing.

Then Ludwik lets off and starts to nibble on the underside of Lambert's chin and heat pools into his lower stomach and his whines get a whole other meaning. But before he can start rutting against his brother, Ludwik is pulled off of him by Remus and Vesemir's stern voice reminds him of the “not in the courtyard” rule. Lambert snarls in annoyance, because what else did he just submit for, but there's no arguing with the old swordmaster.

His older brother sends him a sheepish grin and holds out his hand to help Lambert up and the youngest wolf complies with a grumble. There's a promise of later, in the way he looks at Lambert and that's all he needs to pick up his sword again from where he dropped it and regain his fighting stance, mimicking Ludwik. He has a vague idea of what he'll do if he wins the next round and by the scent in the air and the look in Ludwik's eyes, the other wolf knows too.

nikolai had been offered the chance to meet with fitzgerald and jay before - when fyodor had met them, of course - but had respectfully declined the offer, as he isn’t too keen with meeting business partners. that’s all they’re for, after all - after business is done, they will inevitably part, and any connections made between the two parties are considered null and void. he has no interest in maintaining fleeting relationships, after all, and so nikolai has taken no interest in the guild or it’s abilities. until now.  he had been involved, of course, in the momentary alliance of the rats and the guild, but had not necessarily taken an active part. apart from ensuring that his host had been safe at all times, nikolai had taken a back seat to the goings on, and had hoped to keep it that way.

the guild’s failure to secure the city and find the book had, therefore, not been the best news that he had ever received, and nikolai had been even less impressed that it meant that he would have to head out to look for the book himself. he doesn’t convey his disappointment to jay (nikolai isn’t sure how involved jay had been with his host’s plans, after all), but he doesn’t necessarily give away any sign of happiness towards him either. he’s neutral - jay is of no importance to him, but he could be useful, and nikolai doesn’t want to strain relations too much. the guild could still be powerful allies, after all. 

as for nikolai’s rather abrupt manner of speech, he sees no use in beating around the bush with niceties such as a hello. nikolai does not plan on forming any kind of relation with the other ability - he is mainly interested in information; the status of the guild, and how quickly they will be reforming. if they could end up being yet another party in this all out war. nikolai is not keen for the guild to get involved again (if they hadn’t succeeded in getting the book the first time with the help of the rats, then how could they possibly plan to find it now?)

“ah, but why should i bother attempting to hold a good conversation with you? our hosts are no longer allies - there is no reason for me to keep a pleasant conversation when i have no reason to take an interest in you asides from the guild’s affairs.” he’s not going to bother taking offence at anything jay says, maintaining a disinterested composure and overall attitude. nikolai isn’t emotional on the best of days, but he’s even less so when around people he doesn’t know very well.  “if you no longer plan to search for the book, i suggest you and mr fitzgerald leave yokohama -- it would be dangerous to continue here.”

he does not state where the danger will lie, for nikolai himself is divided. he intends on being on the winning side, of course (and the rats will win -- of course they will; they’re smart, and have the power to back it up), but he will not outwardly threaten jay or fitzgerald now. he will do so when the time is right, but for now he is unsure of what fyodor’s plans are in relation to the guild, and so he’ll refrain from taking any action against the other party until he knows what will happen. “your state of affairs only concerns me to a degree. namely, whether you plan on allying yourselves with the detective agency or the mafia.” that wouldn’t be the best scenario, certainly, so nikolai hopes that’s not the case. “business ---- of a sort, yes. you could call it that. in the aftermath of the guild’s failure, we decided it was best to step in ourselves, rather than leave it to some incompetent group again.”
