I mostly love season 3 of ATLA, but I wish we'd gotten like, one or two more episodes of seeing Zuko as a new member of the gaang. He got some individual time with everyone (except Toph so sad. But even then their relationship was pretty established), but it would have been fun to see the completed Gaang fight some random threat so we could see how Zuko would work with all of them.
Like bring back one of the season one villains- I vote the pirates (though I guess they wouldn't be a credible threat on their own, so team them up with idk the rough rhinos or some new one-off threat). since that would lead to the most fun callbacks.
-Toph would be really mad that they fought pirates and never told her. Then she would be bitterly disappointed that the pirates weren't as cool as she thought they would be. She'd also be floored to hear Katara stole from the pirates and be like "how could you not tell me you did something that cool! Why did you think you needed to pull a scam when you could have just told me that and impressed me!"
-Katara would insist that Zuko be tied to the tree and used as bait for the bad guys at one point and Zuko would comply out of guilt.
-Zuko would have to explain that Zhao hired the pirates to kill him and they nearly succeeded when they blew up his ship.
and Aang would be like "Oh THAT'S why you were all beat up. I always assumed Katara did that."
Sokka: Yeah, I was sure Katara just punched you in the face a bunch and slashed you with some icicles.
Katara: awwww you guys!
Zuko: Why are you so flattered by that?
-Hawky could return solely to fight the parrot while Momo looks on approvingly. And maybe bond with Zuko a bit in a callback to the pilot.
-Katara could steal something else from the pirates. Just for kicks. With Toph's enthusiastic support. Suki too. Girls supporting girls committing larceny.
-Zuko and Katara accidentally cancel out each other's attacks at one point during the melee and get into an immature argument Aang has to break up
-The pirates ask where Iroh is or mention him and Zuko gets all misty like
"you were right, Uncle...I couldn't see that my own ship had set sail...I even threw his pai sho tile away...just another sin on my list..."
"Zuko please focus"
Maybe it would have disrupted the tension, but I would have loved to see those shenanigans happen.

Marvelous!
The ATLA gaang reacting to reader having a nightmare
Tumblr media
Request: “Hello!
I was wondering if you could do an imagine (kidna like the bug one) on how the Gaang would react to gn reader having nightmares. Have a lovely evening,
- V”
Requested by: @verybadatwriting
(The person meant preferences so you wouldn’t get confused)
Aang
Tumblr media
Aang sits quietly beside you, offering silent support during your nightmares
Aang wraps you in a gentle embrace, providing a sense of security and comfort
He listens attentively as you share your nightmares, offering empathy and understanding
Whispers words of reassurance, reminding you that you are safe and loved
Guides you through calming breaths to help ease your racing heart
Aang strokes your hair or rubs your back, offering physical comfort
Suggests simple activities like stargazing or cloud-watching to shift your focus away from your nightmares
He establishes comforting bedtime routines, like reading a favorite book or sharing a cup of tea
Praises your courage and resilience, highlighting your inner strength
Aang expresses his love for you, promising unwavering support through your struggles
He ensures the bedroom is a peaceful sanctuary, free from distractions or triggers
Aang gently suggests seeking professional help or trying relaxation techniques to manage nightmares
(The professional help would be Katara, though)
Shows patience and understanding, earning your trust over time
Reminds you that you are not alone, standing by your side through the darkest nights
“I’m here for you. You’re safe with me. You’re not alone in this. I’m right here beside you, Y/N”
Zuko
Tumblr media
Zuko wakes up immediately upon sensing your distress, his instincts kicking in to soothe you
He pulls you close, wrapping his arms protectively around you and whispering reassurances
Zuko gently strokes your hair or back, offering comfort through his touch
Listens attentively if you want to talk about your nightmare, offering understanding and empathy
Just like Aang Zuko suggests techniques like deep breathing or visualization to help calm your racing thoughts
He stays awake for a while after the nightmare, keeping a watchful eye on you to ensure you feel safe
He shares stories from his own past struggles and how he overcame them, offering hope and encouragement
He offers to stay up with you until you’ll fall back asleep, providing a sense of security
Zuko surprises you with your favorite comforting food or drink to help them relax
He makes a mental note to be extra attentive to your emotional well-being in the days following the nightmare, showing them extra affection and support
Zuko softly sings or hums a calming tune to help lull you back to sleep
“Hey, it’s okay. You’re safe now, I’m right here. I’m here to protect you, always. You don’t have to face this alone.”
Sokka
Tumblr media
Sokka suggests having a late-night snack together, whipping up some of his favorite comfort foods like savory meat pies or sweet fruit tarts to help lift your spirits
He offers to tell you a humorous story or joke to help lighten the mood
And to distract you from your troubling thoughts, using his quick wit and playful humor to bring a smile to your face
Sokka suggests going for a moonlit walk together, strolling along the beach or through the quiet streets of their village as they share stories and enjoy each other’s company under the night sky
He encourages you to express your feelings through creative writing
Or journaling providing you with a safe outlet to process your emotions and reflect on your experiences
Sokka suggests practicing some basic self-defense techniques together
Just teaching you simple moves and strategies to help you feel empowered and capable of protecting yourself
He offers to build a makeshift fort with you using blankets and pillows
And that creates a cozy and comforting space where they can relax and feel safe from their nightmares
He suggests engaging in a friendly competition or game together
It can be a board game, card game, or sparring match, to help distract you and boost your mood with some lighthearted fun
Sokka uses his storytelling skills to craft an original bedtime tale for you, weaving together elements of adventure, humor, and inspiration to captivate your imagination and ease your troubled mind
He ends the night by simply being there for you, offering you a reassuring hug or comforting presence as you drift off to sleep, knowing that you are not alone and that he will always be there to support you
“Hey, it’s okay. You’re safe here with me. It was just a bad dream.”
Katara
Tumblr media
When you have a nightmare, Katara would immediately notice your distress and offer her support
She’s the group’s mom so she’s kidna used to it
Plus she had tons of nightmares when Aang almost died numerous times
And later when he did…
Anyway
Katara would sit beside you, gently placing a hand on your shoulder or back to offer comfort and reassurance
She would encourage you to share your feelings and thoughts about the nightmare
Assures you that you can trust her with your emotions
Katara would offer words of reassurance, reminding you that you are safe and that the nightmare was not real
She might suggest calming techniques
Like deep breathing or visualization to help you relax and ease your anxiety
Katara would offer physical comfort by hugging you if you’re comfortable with it
And providing a sense of warmth and safety
She might create a soothing atmosphere by dimming the lights, playing soft music, or offering a warm cup of tea to help you relax
Katara would offer affirmations to help you feel empowered and supported
Remindes you of your strength and resilience
Katara would stay with you until you feel calm and ready to go back to sleep
She’s ensuring that you don’t have to face your fears alone
In the morning, Katara would encourage you to engage in self-care activities that help you feel grounded and at peace after experiencing a nightmare
Throughout the day, Katara would check in on you to see how you’re feeling and offer continued support and encouragement
“I know it can be scary, but nightmares aren’t real. You’re strong enough to overcome them. I’m here for you. You don’t have to face this alone.”
Toph
Tumblr media
Toph’s first instinct might be to offer some tough love
Like telling you to toughen up and not let the nightmare get to you
Toph might offer practical advice
Suggesting techniques like grounding exercises or focusing on your breathing to calm down
Despite her tough exterior, Toph is fiercely protective of her friends
She might offer to stay with you until you fall asleep again, ensuring you feel safe
Toph is known for her blunt honesty
So she might reassure you that nightmares are just tricks of the mind and not something to be afraid of
Toph might suggest distracting activities to take your mind off the nightmare
Like practicing bending moves or sharing stories of past adventures
Toph might share her own experiences with nightmares
Just letting you know that you’re not alone and that everyone struggles with bad dreams sometimes
Toph often uses humor to lighten the mood
So she might crack a joke or make a sarcastic comment to help you feel better
Despite her tough exterior, Toph can also be surprisingly gentle when it comes to comforting others
She might offer a reassuring pat on the back or a comforting hug if you are open to it
Toph might use her unique perspective as someone who has faced her own challenges to empathize with you and offer understanding and support
Toph’s approach to comforting you might be more straightforward and direct, reflecting her no-nonsense attitude
“Quit your whining. It’s just a stupid dream. Focus on something real. Like the feel of the ground beneath your feet.”

Okay HEAR ME OUT BUTTTT what about zuko betrayal part 2 with the prompt “you own my heart” 👀
Betrayal
Fluff Prompt #30: "You own my heart."
Pairing: Zuko x F/Gn!reader
Warnings: Angst, Fluff, Terrible writing, happy ending? ¡¡SPOILERS!!, Takes place in Book 3. Ep. 11. It doesn't follow the script in the episode.
Notes: I'm so sorry I haven't been writing, I work in agriculture and summer and fall are my busiest times of the year and I lost motivation in the process 😭. But, hopefully I'm back. Thank you for your patience.
Part 1 Part 2 Prompt Event
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Who knew betrayal could hurt so much. Chest heavy, heart heavier. Why did he do it? Does he think everything will be okay once he got back? Maybe Azula manipulated him? No. He did it willingly.
It's been weeks since the incident, a few months actually. You dont know what to do with yourself. Everything has been so emotionally hard. The long term depression grasping you in a chokehold.
The gaang has been there for you. Aang suffering from his own mid childhood crisis, the weight of the world literally on his shoulders. Katara tires to help as much as she could, but she is also dealing with things of her own. Sokka....was just Sokka.
After the invasion, you retreated to the western air temple. It was definitely a sight for sore eyes. The architecture was incredible. The Air Nation really outdid themselves.
"Y/n? Why don't you come eat dinner with us?" Katara leaned against the door frame of the room you are currently residing in. You look over at her gave her a small smile, one that didn't quite reach your eyes.
Katara didn't exactly like Zuko, having felt being betrayed as well. She has a lot of not nice things to say about the young prince, but for the sake of your ears she kept them to herself.
She grabs your arm pulling you up from your bed. You reluctantly follow her, head resting on her shoulder.
Today was a rough day. It Started out with a dream of you and him dancing in the temple. Oh so in love. Hands intertwined with each others. Whispering small nothings, butterflies occupying your chest and tummy. You woke up as if it was a nightmare, your brain toying with you like a yoyo.
Katara holds you gently, her hand laying on your head as if you were a child. At this moment you felt as if you were. Needing someone to comfort your aching heart.
"What are you doing here?!"
"Please just hear me out..." You immediately recognize that voice. It was him.
Zuko.
"Why should we? Huh?!" Sokka crosses his arms defensively. Katara flicks the lid on the water pouch on her hip, bending the water out.
You heart is hammering against your chest. His eyes immediately are drawn towards you. Zuko feels himself choke up. The sight of you made his chest hurt. The dullness you held in your eyes was unbearable to look at.
"Y/n...."
"She doesn't want to talk to you." Katara says, she moved to stand in front of you. Her body is blocking his sight of you. Zuko wants to reach for you, to grovel at your feet, to beg for forgiveness. Even if it hurts his pride, or his reputation. Which wasn't much good anyway. He had to make it right with you.
You are his everything.
"It's okay Katara." You give her a reassuring smile, it wasn't very convincing to anyone who knew you.
"What're you doing here?" You inquire and step next to Katara. Your eyes boring into his, he looked...Sad. Regret swimming in his honey irises.
"I've changed-" You feel yourself moving on its own. You hold your hand up, and he stopped talking.
"That's what you said under Ba Sing Se, then you left. Betraying everyone who cared about you. Especially Uncle Iroh."
That struck a nerve, his face hardens and he looks away slightly, eyebrows furrowed. His tongue darts out and wets his dry and cracked lips, his golden eyes looking back up at you. He steps closer, his hands clenching and unclenching by his side.
Zuko wants to hold you...Needs to feel you against him. To kiss you, to be with you. He needs you like he needs air, without you he's nothing, just a shell of the man he was before he lost you.
"Y/n, please...I'm sorry, I'm so sorry." Zukos voice cracks slightly.
You purse your lips together tightly.
It's so very tempting to close the gap between the two of you, forgiving him just felt right. Maybe it was just the your heart talking over logic. Your headspace is messed up severely, the wound is still fresh in your brain and heart.
"Zuko-"
Katara stops you, stepping in front of you.
"Leave. You've done enough, you are not welcome here."
"Y/n...please." It was strange seeing him so weak for once, pleading you. Practically on his knees for forgiveness.
"You own my heart."
It hurt you to watch him get treated so badly. He deserved it, mostly. Everyone has the right to be angry with him. Chasing Aang across the globe, trying to kill you then after everything at Ba sing se. It was almost unforgivable. Almost.

Aang is great because almost every ship you can put him in instantly becomes top-tier.
Like:
Kataang- they literally make me cry every single time I think of them. Their love story is wonderful and genuinely heartwarming. It symbolises healing and peace for both of them and the literal world. He showed her the world and he's her biggest supporter and she always defends him and they find solace in each other because they understand what it's like to be the last of their respective kind. And they're each other's hope and just... ahhh. They're so much more than the vanilla hero gets the girl ship people paint it as. Haters stay mad or smth.
Zukaang- the symbolism? They're the actual Ying and Yang of the show! The Rozin parallels? Them standing in a vortex of rainbow fire as two dragons (the blue one like Aang's tatoos facing zuko and the other one, red like Zuko's general colour scheme facing Aang) forming a heart shape around them? Zuko was literally searching for Aang and found his redemption in Aang and Aang made him a better person and Aang is literally the only person who genuinely experienced Fire Nation culture before the war and he clearly values it and he's helping Zuko bring peace to the world and the nation...
Tumblr media
Taang- The og tomboy x soft boy dynamic. He's literally the person that helped her free herself from her parents and Air is the element of freedom? And she teaches him when to stand firm like the Earth? And I love when they do synchronised earthbending it's so satisfying and they work so well together. Toph having lost her face in one of Aang's nightmares is also a nice parallel to Ummi and Kuruk. (One caveat though: i hate taang being used as a "get Aang out of the way" side ship to Zutara)
Sokaang- they kinda come out of left field for me but the more I think about them the more obsessed I become. It's all about a teenage boy who has been forced into a role that demanded way too much of him finally learning to trust and rely on others. It's about Sokka finally living out the childhood that he was forced to grow out of. Sokka also has such a cute bond with Momo and more importantly, Appa, Aang's animal soulmate. The fics write themselves.
Tumblr media
Sukaang- ok, I know Suki and Aang barely interacted in the show but like Hear me out.Suki is so connected to one of Aang's past lives. And she saved Appa, which would totally bond her and Aang (genuinely distressed that this was never discussed in canon). And they both value a sense of community so much, and Aang was one of the people who inspired Suki to leave Kyoshi to help others. Plus, there could be some amazing Rangshi parallels if Suki became Aang's bodyguard instead of Zuko's, which could be very plausible.
Azulaang- I adore this ship because I genuinely think Aang could really help Azula find her redemption. Hell, he was so nice to her in The Search and she literally killed him. Plus I've already laughed about how it would absolutely kill Ozai. The mental crisis Azula would go through due to fallingin love with Aang would be hilarious, and also the guilt over everything she's done, as Aang's kindness makes her realsie she was on the wrong side this whole time. He's one of the only people who can beat her at her prime and he doesn't seem to fear her at all, which is rare for her. Aang could give her the unconditional love she so desperately craves and needs.
Tumblr media
Maiaang- genuinely adorable to me. Other than the obvious grumpy x sunshine trope, Maiaang has a lot of potential. Mai seems to genuinely like Aang in the comics, which is really cute. I also think Aang would be able to help Mai express her more positive emotions, other than just anger. Also something about the girl who was forced to remain silent and passive her whole life learning to finally let go and allow herself to just live with the help of probably one of the most active and expressive characters of the show has me by the throat. Plus, he got along great with her lil bro!
Tyaang- They're so similar and cute and bubbly! They'd have tons of fun together and I just know Ty Lee would teach Aang some gymnastics and he really enjoy it! I think he can also find Ty Lee's chiblocking very cool, since it is essentially a great way to deal with a conflict without causing permanent damage. Very airbendery. Speaking of which, Ty Lee is also very airbendry herself. I can genuinely see her finding herself in Air Nomad culture and be excited to help revive it.
Tumblr media
Onjaang- i just find this ship so funny because imagine being a random schoolgirl in the fire nation and not only rizzing up a demigod but rizzing that demigod up successfully. This ship can also go so many ways depending on On Ji's reaction to that random cute guy who threw a cool dance party is actually the Avatar, so it's certainly interesting.
Yuaang- the ultimate cinnamon roll x cinnamon roll ship. But more than that, there's of course the Yue becoming the Moon Spirit and Aang getting lowkey possessed by the grieving Ocean Spirit. There's Yue appearing when Aang needed her most, while he's stranded in the middle of the ocean and helping him. They both understand sacrifice and responsibility, and maybe they could comfort each other through it. Also Aang being the bridge between the spirit worlds and Yue being a Spirit could lead to a very interesting romance, depending on how much the Avatar could interact with the Moon Spirit.
Tumblr media
Jetaang- ok, Aang was just as infatuated with Jet as Katara was, right? And I think Aang was heavily affected by Jet's actions and behaviour. Also Aang really not wanting to hurt Jet while fighting him (twice!) was really cute. And Aang helping Jet snap out of the Dai Li brainwashing could be a really cool ship moment the more you think anout it.
Teoaang- Honestly their little one sided rivalry at the beginning of the episode was really cute. And I think there could be some interesting symbolism between them. Aang symbolising the old and Teo symbolising the new. They compliment each other like that. Teo comforting Aang by showing him that the critters of the temple are still alive and well is also sweet. And Aang admitting that Teo has the spirit of an airbender is so sweet.
Tumblr media
Kuzaang- they're adorable. I loved the comic about them. Aang calling Kuzon "Hotman" is really funny. Aang helping Kuzon make a bigger flame with airbending is also really sweet. I especially like this ship in combination with Zukaang. It's such tasty symbolism.
Tumblr media
Aang may just be the most shippable charater of this franchise, argue with the wall. He's so filled with love I have no choice but to multiship.

A small love letter to Firebending
Maybe I'm late to the party, but I need to free my thoughts on Firebending.
Through most of ATLA, Firebending is seen as evil and dangerous. People fear the Fire Nation, and by proxy, Firebenders. Aang's nightmares are plagued by fire, and when he hurts Katara by accident, he swears off Firebending altogether.
Forebending is used to hurt and subjugate people. It kills and kidnaps. It destroys families and civilizations.
But then there are also moments where it is the opposite.
Iroh softly lights incense sticks with his Firebending to mourn his son on a lonely, grassy hill under a tree.
Aang, Katara, Sokka, and Toph warming themselves by the campfire after a long day, as they drift off while staring up at the stars.
Zuko makes another person smile by using his Firebending to brighten up a candle-lit fountain. It might have even been the first time he's used his Firebending in a kind, gentle way.
And when Aang holds a part of the ancient fire in his hands, his fear melts away and he remarks, "It feels like a little heartbeat." He feels life in it, and later recognizes it as energy.
As much as Zuko went through a transformation throughout ATLA, so did Firebending, and the way fire is perceived. I absolutely love everything about this show, but this in particular always gives me goosebumps.

Been wanting to do some updated character model sheet thingies for my ongoing longfic The Avatar and the Fire Prince, so here they are! :) Up until now I'd only drawn Zuko and Aang, but I thought it was about time I added Iroh and the Water Tribe siblings to the lineup as well. Right now all I've done this for is Books 1 & 2, but I really want to get started on the Books 3 & 4 versions so I can add Toph and Suki (and possibly Azula, Mai, and Ty Lee) to the lineup!
As usual, for anyone who has not read my fic but is curious about the premise: this is an AU in which Zuko and Iroh discover Aang in the iceberg just 3 months after Zuko is burned and banished at age 13 in 96 AG, 4 years prior to the return of Sozin's Comet. It is also an enemies to best friends to lovers slowburn in which Zukaang is endgame (since Aang was released from the iceberg 3 years early in this AU, he is only one year younger than Zuko). This fic is heavily based in canon, so I try my hardest to ensure that everything is canon-compliant at least when it comes to lore and character behavior despite the different circumstances.
Book 1: Air's premise: after finding and capturing Aang, Zuko and Iroh are forced to escape with him on Appa when Zhao interferes with their plans to return to the Fire Nation. This Book focuses on Aang desperately searching the Air Temples for any remnants of his people he can find, dragging Zuko and Iroh along in the process. Eventually, Zuko starts to question everything he was raised to believe, while Iroh is forced to face the mistakes of his past.
Book 2: Water begins with Aang, Zuko, and Iroh traveling to the South Pole after Aang starts to have recurring nightmares about an impending attack on Wolf Cove (Sokka and Katara's village), and eventually follows my adaptations of several storylines from canon Book 1 before ending with the Siege of the North in Agna Qel'a. During this Book, Zuko begins to realize his feelings for Aang are more than friendship, while Aang remains oblivious (lol).
Book 3: Earth is the Book I am currently working on (the most recent chapter was my adaptation of "Avatar Day") and so far follows Aang, Zuko, Iroh, Katara, and Sokka as they search for an earthbending teacher for Aang - so far, it has followed the general canon plot of Book 2, though of course, as always, there are differences due to this being an AU. No spoilers, but I have some really interesting things planned for this Book, particularly as we get closer to the Ba Sing Se arc. I also have a lot of fun stuff planned for the Zukaang romance in this Book.
Book 4: Fire will be the last Book of the fic, and will of course revolve around the Gaang in the Fire Nation. This is all I will say for now since I don't want to spoil the plans I have for the previous Book (which will heavily influence what happens in Book 4, obv).
When I finally finish this fic (I'm about halfway through at 33/65 chapters), I plan to start writing a direct sequel that adapts the events of the comics, as well as a Korrasami-focused Legend of Korra rewrite fic that is set in the same AU as TAatFP.

Some spirit manages to get the gaang and zuko a link that connects their minds. They can share thoughts and their past with each other.
Tweaking this to “and they share dreams” because that’s how I started writing it.
---
“Okay,” Sokka says, wrapping his sleeping bag around himself, and grabbing a comfort Momo, too. “Whose dream was that?”
No one ‘fesses up. But it was kind of a rude question, and also a little rhetorical, anyway.
They all have nightmares with fire.
Having the Fire Lord himself looming over them, while they were on their knees? Not exactly a stretch.
---
“Okay,” Sokka says, “how does Prince Jerkface keep finding us?”
---
“Okay,” Sokka says, “how did he know that seal jerky seasoned just right with honey—not too much, just enough to add a sparkle of sweetness to the depths of savoriness, a perfect balance for the distinguished tongue to relish—was the perfect bait for his Sokka and Sokka-affliated-parties trap?”
“Maybe if you stop dreaming about it, Sokka,” Katara snaps.
...And they all stop.
---
“I’m going to think really really hard about being friends,” Aang says.
“I’m going to think really really hard about that time my boomerang hit him,” says Sokka.
---
Snatching the boomerang out of midair? Impressive.
Ignoring the Avatar to go hit Sokka with it? Repeatedly? Uncalled for.
---
“Sokka. The city is under attack. Right now.”
“Okay,” Sokka says. “But this is a strategic nap, Katara. We need to know what evil things our Evil Other is up to.”
It’s not like the evil fleet part was a surprise, at least. They’ve been dreaming of it for weeks.
---
“Okay,” Sokka says, looking down. “So the ship-blowing-up-thing. Not a nightmare?”
“No,” says Zuko, glaring up with his glare-face all glare-ful but his thoughts mostly full of bruises so deep they’re making Sokka’s ribs ache, and also his legs are going numb.
“Going to get out of the turtle-seal tunnel now?” Sokka asks, still standing over the opening. With his boomerang.
“...No,” the Prince of the Fire Nation says, as he clings onto the edge of the hole, his legs still very much in freezing water.
---
“Okay,” Sokka says, when they have a Fire Prince all tied up in Blankets of Imprisonment. “So. What actually was your plan here? Do not,” he interrupts, before the teenage-shaped bloodhound-leech can do more than open his mouth, “say ‘capture the Avatar.’”
The prince closes his mouth. Glares. And kind of fuzzes at the edges, in the way all of them do when they’re about to fall asleep.
BOOMERANG, Sokka thinks, and Prince Largely Ineffective As An Enemy jerks back upright. His Momo hat chitters a complaint.
“Since we both know your answer is ‘I had no plan, Sokka, ‘plan’ starts with ‘p’ and there’s no ‘p’ in ‘Avatar’’, we’re going to play a game instead. It’s called ‘sleepy prince free association interrogation time.’”
“...What?”
“Battle plans,” Sokka says. “Attack. Fire Navy fleet. Ship numbers.”
Alas, “Fire Nation intelligence” is not something with which the prince’s brain is overly burdened.
“...Are you insulting me?”
“Are you proving my point?”
Elsewhere, Yue laughs in all their heads. Zuko flinches. The prince has a very marked reaction to the laughter of princesses.
---
“Okay,” says Sokka. “So that just happened.”
Commander Mutton Chops is groaning. Kind of flopping. Much like the bag he tried to fireball. Yue picks it up, and gently wrangles a fish back into water. Sokka is still not clear on what the fish-napping was about.
“It’s the Moon,” Aang says. “Or maybe the Ocean?”
Aang’s thoughts are full of a FACE STEALING EVIL CENTIPEDE MONSTER THAT IS JUST ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE THIN VEIL OF REALITY and that is NOT helping Sokka think.
“Okay,” he says again. “So. At least we can all agree on one thing.”
This is a very diplomatic way of saying they all wanted to dropkick Zhao. But some of them wanted to do it more than others.
The prince of the Fire Nation is even paler than normal, and staring across the clearing at his uncle.
“I can explain,” the prince says, while he’s thinking, oh shit treason oh crap uncle wouldn’t hurt me thought that about father too
Sokka wordlessly plucks Momo from the edge of the pond, where he’s been swiping at the spirit-fish, and drops him on the prince’s head.
Everyone needs a comfort Momo, now and again.
---
“A raft, Zuko?” Sokka says. Outloud. Because it makes things louder when you say it and think it. “A raft?”
Aang is bouncing on his toes. “We should go get him.”
The Avatar is grinning. And thinking, really hard and deliberately, as behind them the Water Tribe ship finishes packing, We should capture the Fire Prince.
“Okay,” Sokka says, with a grin of his own.

the way ATLA's writing primes you to anticipate zuko switching sides is so fascinating. he's this hothead who needs to chill all the way down and stop attacking villages, but even when you don't like him yet, you want him to be okay so uncle iroh isn't heartbroken. then we get into the real meat of it - zuko keeps choosing OTHER THINGS over catching aang. rescuing uncle from earth kingdom soldiers, protecting his crew from the storm, RESCUING AANG so zhao won't win, leaving the avatar's group in the oasis to confront zhao. zuko and uncle have MUCH bigger problems than whatever aang's doing in season 2; they even have the same enemy in azula, and they team up against her in the earth kingdom town, because the enemy of my enemy is my friend. katara offers to heal iroh after azula barbecues him. katara offers to heal ZUKO in the catacombs. which makes you that much more disappointed in him when zuko chooses joining azula over aang and katara in ba sing se, because even if he's confused and doesn't know what he wants yet, YOU as the viewer DO because you've SEEN IT
katara was worried aang wouldn't make it out of the snowstorm after zuko kidnapped him in the north pole; aang insisted they take zuko back with them and saved his life; uncle later raises his voice (!!) at zuko, saying that he would have frozen to death without them because he never thinks these things through. zuko didn't think about what going home would actually be like until he saw it for himself. obviously zuko's misguided quest is hurting aang, his friends, and the last hope for peace that he represents - and that seriously can't be understated; aang has NIGHTMARES about zuko and STILL saves him whenever he gets the chance - but he's hurting himself, too. when you already know he's like this because of how his own father hurt him. you see what being too much like their father is like when you meet azula, and the contrast of that against iroh's unconditional love for zuko speaks for itself
there are SO many reasons for you to want zuko to get his head on straight but he doesn't make it easy at ALL, which only elevates his character arc further

Omg that kuvira sub req was lit! Could you do one for Zuko please? Maybe after he’s become fire lord?
I decided that instead of writing nsfw, to just make it angst to fluff. Sorry that it's not what you asked for ,but this is what I got.
Genre:Friends with benefits to enemies to lovers ,angst to fluff,
Tw: mentions of trauma, burning and leaving a scar.
Zuko x Fem reader
Tumblr media
Ever since you ran away from Zuko to help the avatar restore peace to the world, you kept thinking that he would let go of you.
But no, you can't catch a damn break, since you ran away he's been chasing you. He swore to find you.
How? You have no clue. But you never doubted his devotion for this cause, you knew that Zuko had that burning will in him.
I mean, you were his soldier, and things between you two were...complicated.
Sometimes you would have heart to heart conversations. Maybe about your life,or what you would be in the future, and other times it was just making out after a stressful day. But you never did more than that,he wanted you ,and you wanted him but there was always something holding you back.
Now this is something that fuels Zuko, his need for revenge is powered by those moments between you two. And not only that, but if he finds you he also finds the Avatar. Which is the perfect reason for him.
You get to be punished for treason, and at the same time he would finally have his honor restored. That's what he says to himself at night. It's not like he wants more.
So for months, almost a year he searched for The avatar, and for you, each time you managed to slip right trough his fingers.
The last time he saw you was at the northern water tribe, when he tried capturing Aang you fought Zuko while Katara protected the younger boy. Zuko knew he could do so much damage to you,but he simply couldn't.
You unfortunately lost, after all Zuko was stronger than you. You both knew it,but it never stopped you before.
You tried talking to him,you always thought that if you got a chance you would be able to at least get him to think of another way,a better way. Maybe this way things wouldn't be so complicated between you two.
But no matter how much you tried,he was just too stubborn.
You tried putting a fight again,he was so angry that he didn't even realize with what force he sent that fire at you,not even throwing you a second glance.
Too blinded by anger, now that you weren't in his way anymore he went for Aang.
If you wouldn't have blacked out you would've saw the way Katara fought the prince, after all he harmed you, and wanted to take Aang away.
You woke up on Appa,Katara was tending to your burn mark, trying to completely heal it.
"I'm sorry (Name),but it's going to leave a pretty big scar here." Her hand would lay on your shoulder comforting.
It was rough looking in the mirror, but you started getting used to it. The bad part was when you started having nightmares of your fight with the prince, the burning feeling awaking you in cold sweat.
You healed with time, fortunately for you,the prince and you didn't meet again after that. You split from the team,it was necessary for you to find a way to heal the scar that Zuko left in your mind.
Imagine the shock on your face when you finally got reunited with your friends. To see Zuko there was something you never expected. Deep inside you knew he could change but never actually thought he would.
He would be so awkward, and yeah he would talk to himself, trying to find the right way to apologize to you for hunting you down and kicking your ass. It was also this little thing, he never realized how much you affected him when you were around until you left, and it drove him mad. Never quite understanding why.
He kept his distance from you, mostly because he didn't really know how to approach you. It's not that he's as mad as he was before when you betrayed him, but it's still awkward.
So you two just stayed away from each other. The group could see something was up with you two,I mean they knew about your scar and journey ,but Zuko didn't.
Nobody told him about the scar he left on you back then, and you never confronted him about it.
One night when you wanted to take your mind away from all that's happening ,you found yourself in the lake near your camp.
A swim would do you good.
Unfortunately for you ,that's what the young prince also had in mind.
He was left speechless once he saw your naked form in the water. A certain part of you got his attention, your back.
There was this big part of your shoulder all the way to your waist that was just burned.
And then it clicked, when he fought you in the north water tribe,he did this.
"Stop staring." You speak, loud enough for him to hear you, getting deeper into the water so your back would no longer be visible to his longing stare.
"I wasn't staring." He turns his head away embarrassed, his face hot just thinking that you caught him staring at your form. He acted like a pervert. How could he be so stupid?
Zuko quickly took off, not allowing you to say anything else.
He spent the night thinking, about you ,your scar your body. It annoyed him so much that all he could think was you.
So he left the next day with Sokka, on a mission to free Sokka and katara's dad from a high security prison. Totally no big deal.
Each day he spent there he hoped he could get you off his mind, but no matter how hard he tried you were just stuck on him.
Let's just say that he had some pretty unusual taughts while he was locked away.
After he saw Sokka with Suki he got this weird feeling, it was some inside him pushing him to be this way, with you.
So there he was, back at the camp with a complete mission, trying to find a way to speak to you. And he couldn't really bring up the last time he saw you, 'Yeah I saw you naked and I stared at you, wanna date?' no way in hell, unless he wants to be seen as the biggest creep ever.
"Mind if I sit?" Zuko's eyes dart up at you,he didn't even hear you coming her.
"No one's stoping you." You sit down next to him, noticing how he quickly looks away.
"It's been a while huh?" Your eyes look up at the dark starry sky, hoping he's willing to talk to you.
Zuko furrows his brows, searching for the right words to say. He never had to think so hard while talking to you,why is it so hard now?
"I won't bite if you say something." You nudge him with your elbow, sending his thoughts away for now.
"Listen,I'm really sorry for what I did to you back in the north,I was just so blinded by my desire for honor that I was willing to cut trough-" your lips stop Zuko from saying another word, already hearing what you wanted.
He's sorry for hurting you,and he admitted that he was blindly chasing something useless, and that's all you wanted to hear from him.
He whidens his eyes for a second, finally realizing what's happening he cups your cheek with one hand and closes his eyes, kissing you back.
You break the kiss, looking at his face for any sign of reluctance. But all you can see in his eyes is this soft look,it's really cute.
"You have no idea how much I wanted to hear that from you." You whisper, afraid that if you would speak any louder you would break this comfortable feeling around you.
He smiles, closing his eyes. All this time he thought so much , wondering how your next interaction would go,or what would you say to him.
He missed the kisses, soft ones were his favorite, but the making out had a tool on him too.
"I missed this." He speaks, hand trailing down your lip, carefully touching it.
"I never thought you'd forgive me." Zuko allows his head to meet with yours gently stroking your cheek.
"Thank you for becoming a better version of yourself."you smile, placing your hands on his wrist in a gentle manner.
"Okay what's going on here?" Sokka looks at the two of you like he witnessed a war crime. Did he drink cactus juice without realizing??
I couldn't do it.
I couldn't write Zuko smut yet ,I'm sorry 😭

Nightmare - Zuko x Reader
Pairing: Zuko x fem!Reader Word Count: 2 024 (hehe) Warnings: fighting, mentions of death, nightmare about injury and abuse, use of (y/n) Summary: After your fight you avoid Zuko, who tries to apologise. But even with your rejection he is by your side as you suffer from a nightmare. A/N: Can be read as a oneshot; Part Nine of the series Perfect (10 times Zuko thought you were perfect and the first time he told you);
Tumblr media
It had been more than a full day since Zuko had last talked to you. It had taken the others only a few minutes after your return to the camp to realize you had fought with Zuko, and much to Zuko’s surprise and relief it was not an angry Katara that came to freeze him into an ice block for hurting you, but instead it was Sokka, trying to find out what had happened. Zuko was relieved that Sokka didn’t accuse him of anything and instead listened carefully to Zuko’s side of the story, before he patted his back reassuringly.
“She’ll come around, man,” Sokka told him. “She’s probably just upset because the conversation brought up memories of her dead brother. She’s not mad at you.”
“No, I think she is,” Zuko admitted, but Sokka wouldn’t have any of it and instead encouraged Zuko to spend the rest of the day by teaching Aang more Fire Bending.
That had been yesterday afternoon. Now it was already late at night, and over twenty-four hours since Zuko had last seen you. He knew you had been out of your tent, because Toph told him you went into town with her, but she refused to tell him whether you had mentioned him, and you had been clever enough to evade him as well.
So, there was only one way to solve this. Since you had not answered any of the times he had tried knocking on your door – well, tent – he had decided he needed to sit things out. Literally. And that was how he found himself curled into a thin blanket sitting outside your tent, waiting for you to come out.
Xiang had passed him a few times, and he had heard her trying to convince you to talk to him (he had had no influence on the matter, he knew things would only get worse if he tried to drag your sister into all of this), but you had only rejected her encouragement. The only good thing that all of this had, he supposed, was that it seemed like Xiang had taken somewhat of a liking to him. But that probably would only last so long until she decided she needed to side with you in the matter.
The last time the little girl had passed him, it had been to go to her own tent. It had been her own decision, as far as Zuko knew, to sleep all on her own tonight, and Zuko couldn’t help but admire her bravery. After all she had lived through, the imprisonment and torture, she did not fear the dark of her tent, not even on her own.
Now Xiang’s tent was the only one that emitted a slight glow from the glow stone Toph had given her, while all the other tents were quiet and dark. Zuko stared up into the stary sky above him and wondered what you were thinking about. Were you asleep already, or still mad at him? What could he say, do, to make you less mad? Could he give you another seashell? He still had the one he had first found for you after you had given it to him for safekeeping. Should he find more of the same kind and make you a wristband? Or a necklace? Girls liked pretty jewellery, right? Maybe he could give the shells to a goldsmith and have a real necklace made? Or he could try to cook something for you? Maybe something with fresh vegetables from the market?
Before his with sleep hazy brain could come up with any other ideas, a quiet whimper sounded from your tent, making him perk up. For a moment it was quiet, and he almost would have relaxed back against the stone he had been leaning against, when he heard it again. A whimper, as if you were crying. Carefully he sat up, listening more closely. The next time it was more like a sob, accompanied by unintelligible whispering.
That was it, Zuko decided. He needed to see if you were alright. On his knees he crawled over to the entrance of your door and hit his flat palm against the heavy fabric, creating a strange slapping sound.
“Hey, (y/n), it’s me, Zuko, are you okay?”
Instead of a proper answer he just got another sob, and the repeated mumbling of ‘no, no, no’.
“Can I come in? I’m worried about you,” he called again, but when there was no answer, only another sob, he took a deep breath and pushed the fabric over the entrance away.
As he had feared, you were curled in on yourself, entangled on your blanket with tears streaming down your face. But your eyes were closed.
“Don’t hurt- don’t hurt-” you mumbled, slightly shaking your head.
“Hey, hey,” carefully Zuko crawled into the tent, sitting down at your feet and reached up to shake you awake. “You’re having a nightmare, come on, wake up. You’re all safe.”
“Don’t hurt him,” you mumbled, refusing to wake up, making Zuko wonder who he was. Were you having a nightmare about Aang facing off against the Fire Lord? Or about your brother?
“Whatever it is,” Zuko told you, “You need to wake up. It’s just a dream, can you hear me? It’s just a dream.”
“No, no,” your voice gradually grew louder. “Don’t- don’t!”
With a jolt you sat up, frantically tearing at the blanket you had entangled yourself in, as another sob slipped past your lips.
“No, no, no, please no,” you kept mumbling, making Zuko worry more and more by the moment.
“Hey, hey, calm down,” he slowly reached out to you. “It’s okay, you’re awake now.”
Immediately you froze, your widened eyes finding his in the dark.
“Zuko?”
“Yes, it’s me. I’m sorry for coming in here but I heard you crying and-”
He didn’t get to finish his explanation, because a moment later you had thrown your arms around his neck and were crying into his shoulder.
“You’re okay,” you sobbed, “you’re okay.”
“Yes, of course, I am,” Zuko chuckled, carefully pulling you closer again his chest. You were as hot as a furnace. “Why wouldn’t I be.”
“He was shooting lightning at you,” you cried quietly. “Your father. He wanted to kill you.”
Zuko froze. You hadn’t been dreaming about Aang, or your brother. You had been dreaming about him?
“That’s not going to happen,” Zuko promised you, holding you a little tighter. “He’s not going to hurt me. Or you. We’re safe, alright? You’re safe.”
“I’m not worried about me, you idiot,” you sobbed, pushing away from his shoulder. Your eyes were puffy and red from crying. But you were still beautiful. Zuko doubted that there was a moment in which you wouldn’t be beautiful to him. “I’m worried about you!”
“Well,” awkwardly Zuko pulled away from the embrace. You were practically sitting in his lap, which made things more difficult. “I’m safe, too. So… try to go back to sleep, okay? Things won’t seem as bad in the morning.”
“Will you stay with me?”
Through tears you blinked up at him, and for a moment Zuko thought, time had stopped as your question was processing in his mind. You wanted him to stay with you? Until when? Until you had calmed down? Until you had fallen asleep? Honestly, it really didn’t matter, because he would never deny you such a request. Even if he had wanted to (he didn’t), the way you sat in his lap, leaning just far enough back to be able to look at him, rendered any rational thought useless.
“Of course,” Zuko heard himself say, his mouth faster than his thoughts screaming with nervous excitement in his head.
His reply seemed satisfying enough to you, because slowly and uncoordinatedly you crawled out of his lap, flopping your head down on the small pillow. For a moment Zuko sat unmoving, wondering what he should do now? Just sit at your foot end? Sit down next to you? Lay down beside you?
Maybe yesterday morning he would have laid down without hesitation, but he wasn’t sure if you were still mad at him for not telling you about his connection to the 41rst, and it hardly seemed like the right time to ask.
That’s when he noticed that your blanket was pushed haphazardly around your ankles where you had freed your arms earlier from the tangles. Shifting onto his knees, he grabbed the upper edge of the blanket and crawled beside you, carefully covering you with the thin fabric. He was gingerly avoiding your eyes, which he felt following his face in the dark, instead focusing on making sure your body was completely covered.
Suddenly, and without warning, you sat up, wrapping your arms around his neck. Your warm breath fanned over his neck, making the little hair in his nape tingle, and the bare skin of your arms was soft against his.
“Thank you,” you whispered, and Zuko was almost worried you’d start crying again. “Can we just… stay like this for a while?”
“Uhm,” Zuko shifted uncomfortably where he was leaning over you on his knees. “Let me-”
Shifting his weight to the side, he carefully laid down beside you. When he looked up, he found your face was right in front of his. When had you gotten this close? It made his heart beat faster, and he was glad for the lack of lighting otherwise you would have certainly mocked him for how red his face was glowing.
“Can I…” your question trailed off, but even if Zuko hadn’t suspected you wanted to hug him tighter, he would have agreed to anything in this moment.
He nodded, his non-verbal answer more an acoustic sign to you in the dark where his head moved over the pillow, and a moment later you had already scooted closer to him. You were still warm, warm and so alive, he realized as he intuitively wrapped his arms around you to pull you closer. He could feel each of your in- and exhales, and if he paid close attention, he could even feel the beating of your heart against his chest. Your body moulded against his, as if they had been made to be fitted together like this, legs intertwined, arms wrapped around each other, holding tightly. Zuko was not sure whether he held you so tight to comfort you or to assure himself of your presence. Whatever the reason was, you didn’t seem to mind being held like this. It felt like the two of you were an island of warmth in the cool night, just holding and feeling each other, silently regretting any word and action that had ever driven you apart and secretly praying the other would forgive you and let you hold each other just a little longer.
“Zuko?”
Your voice was heavy with sleep as it broke through the silence. Zuko only hummed to signal you he was listening.
“I’m sorry about getting mad at you yesterday.”
“Don’t be,” Zuko answered, his voice so quiet that it wasn’t even a whisper. “I should have told you sooner.”
“Maybe. I don’t know,” you sighed, shifting slightly in his arms and nuzzling your face into his neck. “I just… I don’t want to fight with you. I’m sorry.”
“I don’t want to fight either. I’m sorry, too.”
For a moment silence fell over you, and Zuko wondered how you could be so perfect; so warm and soft in his arms, so cozy against his chest, making him forget anything that wasn’t you, and so understanding, so forgiving for all his many mistakes. He had to do better in the future, to earn the forgiveness, to not give you new reasons why you would have to forgive him.
“Does this mean we’re good,” Zuko asked into the silence of the night, but it was only met with more silence, as your arms slowly lost their tension around his waist and your breaths evened out from having fallen asleep. And it didn’t take Zuko long to fall asleep as well, his dreams filled with nothing but you.

A/N: I know I said this series would be finished by Christmas and that we’re way past that. Tbh I’ve have a not so good time. I’m more often at the doctor’s than in class (therapy, physiotherapy actuall doctor’s appointments…) and have been diagnosed with a metabolic disorder in December, which basically put my life upside down in a way. I know, there are worse things that can happen, especially because in my case it’s easily treatable in our current society, but it’s a lot of change and all these information mess with my head. I have queued the last two chapters, for next Friday and the one after that, so please look forward to these stories. (This phrasing sounds off… I think I might have used Japanese wording for this but in English. That’s where my head is at, I don’t know any language anymore.)

When , did you , Start Paring Aang and Toph and why do you pair them, Together are there similarities between the Two .?
Tumblr media
"Do you really think friendships can last more than one lifetime?"
Unlike Zutara that I remember well when I started ship them, I don't really remember when I started ship Taang (and Sukka). But, it was long time ago because I found them so cute together.
Taang have potential, but it needs time or another season to develop their feeling. Because, while Zutara had some romantic moments, Taang didn't have moments like that so it would be forced if they ended up together in season 3 (just like canon).
Then, how could they have potential if they didn't have romantic moments?
Their connection
Aang had connection with all his master bending. Katara was there to saved him, Zuko was there to captured him. Their connection with Aang makes these two characters always face each other and had their own development.
Meanwhile, Toph wasn't in the connection between Aang with Zuko and Katara. She had her own connection to Aang. In the swaps episode, Sokka and Katara saw a vision of their past, but Aang saw a vision of Toph before even meeting her in person.
There's an interesting theory that Aang not only saw a vision of his future, but also his past. Because in Nightmares and Daydreams episode, Toph has no face in his dream. It was parallel with Avatar Kuruk's lover that her face stolen by Koh.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Instead of water, Aang was connected to earth, Toph's element. Even though earth was a difficult element for Aang at first, but it was element that Aang often used in battle after mastering it.
Tumblr media
In final battle, earth was the element that re-opened his chakra and made him enter the avatar state.
They compliment each other
Just like fire and water, air is the opposite of earth. They are different, but compliment each other.
Air is the element of freedom. Aang is free person. He is Toph's first friend and also the one who offered her freedom, something she really wants and needs.
Earth is the element of substance. Toph is persistent person. She is the one who taught Aang to be tougher and stand his ground, something he really needs to get out of his comfort zone.
They have same vibes
Tumblr media
Toph and Aang are still kids and they act like kids. They like to have fun. That isn't something wrong. In fact, they have the same vibe so that neither one is having fun, while the other is taking care of him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yes, Aang is the one who makes Katara child again, but still they don't have the same vibe. Katara has a motherly nature, so Aang's childish nature makes their relationship like mother and son.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's different when Katara with Zuko. Zuko is more mature, so when Katara is with him, she doesn't have to act motherly. Instead, it's Zuko who look after her, brings her things, and reminds her to rest.
Their Culture
Tumblr media
Believe me or not, I found this from Aang/Kataang stand and it made me wonder. If Katara and Aang's cultures are different, then what makes them suitable to be together?
Cultural differences actually don't matter if they can respect each other, but this is Aang's expression of water tribe culture.
Tumblr media
Katara : Bato, it looks like home! Sokka : Everything's here, even the pelts! Aang : [Sarcastically.] Yeah, nothing's cozier than dead animal skins.
And this is Aang's expression of water tribe food
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hama : I wanted to surprise you! I bought all this food today so I could fix you a big Water Tribe dinner. Of course, I can't get all the ingredients I need here, but ocean kumquats are a lot like sea prunes if you stew them long enough. Aang : [Sticking his tongue out in disgust.] Great!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
According to the post I got, Aang can wear Earth Kingdom clothing because it doesn't use animal materials. He can also wear fire nation clothing, but I don't think all types of fire nation clothing, because there are fire nation clothing made of leather.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The people of Earth Kingdom aren't vegetarian, but not all of their food from animal based. Aang doesn't seem to have a problem with their food.
Btw, Aang has problem with Fire Nation food too.
Tumblr media
Aang : [Looking at a meat display. Disappointedly.] Oh, we're going to a meat place? Sokka : Come on, Aang, everyone here eats meat. Even the meat! [Points at a hippo cow eating a piece of meat swarming with flies.]
So, yeah, for me Aang and Toph not only have potential in the story, but also have chemistry with each other.

I think the reason I'm a bit iffy about most zutara shippers who call themesleves "pro Katara" (and lets be honest the tags pro katara/katara deserved better are mainly people building themselves a moral highground of "if you disagree with me, you clearly dilslike Katara and want her to suffer") is just the hypocrisy of it all.
Katara's consent was violated by Aang, yes. But Zuko threatening her and being a fucking creep in the "I'll save you from the pirates" scene was sexy and not at all the nightmare of any sane woman.
Katara's role as a healer is treated as her acting subservient and her loosing her feminist icon status. Unless she's healing/offering to heal Zuko.
Aang is immature and childish. But we will handily ignore Zuko, a whole ass 16 year old who's heir to a country throwing a temper tantrum because his girlfriend dared to speak to another man. [Frankly, in my opinion, Zuko isn't really ready for a serious romantic relationship, but yall arent ready for that conversation]
Aang is supposedly misogynistic, but Zuko's many instances of actual misogyny are swept under the rug. Aang is shown in canon to be incredibly supportive of Katara defying the patriarchy.
Supposedly Aang makes Katara do all the housework. Despite there being evidence to the contrary. Zuko has just recently learnt to brew tea.
Katara being the Avatar's wife is supposedly degrading. But if she were Zuko's wife, I'm sure she wouldn't be just a baby maker. (What a horribke thing to call a woman btw. Tall call your own mothers baby makers too???) Despite the fact that Izumi's mother hasn't even been mentioned by name in tlok. But yeah. She'd be afforded the respect she deserves I'm certain.
Aang is, on most accounts, supportive and respectful of Katara's opinions, even when he disagrees with them. Zuko openly mocks people who oppose him. I am going to make a longer post on the Southern Raiders episodes and how all of you watched that episode blindfolded or smth.
Aang comparing Appa being kidnapped (his last connection to his genocided people, the last vestige of his happy past) to Katara's anger over her mother is bad. But Zuko comparing mommy leaving his ass to Katara's mother getting brutally slaughtered in front of her ? Silence.
Aang supposedly needs Katara to mother him and that's a bad thing. But Azula, Mai and Ty Lee having to gentle parent Zuko almost everytime they interact is never talked about, despite the uncalled for verbal abuse that trio goes through from him.
Aang and Katara's 2 year age gap is creepy. But Zuko and Katara's 2 year age gap is fine. My bigest gripe with Zutara lovers is them completely erasing Katara's childishness and immaturity, in order for her and Zuko to have this mature, sexy relationship. She's 14, guys. 14.
This post really isn't meant to decry Zutara. I just want people who ship Zutara to get off their high horse of feminism and to accept that they're no better than the rest of us ship loving freaks. Wanting the main girl to bump uglies with the broody emo twink doesn't make you a modern day suffragette. Disliking a main canon pairing isn't a measure of your love for a female character.
Grow up.
Enjoy your ship like a normal person.
