I don't really want more modern Hollywood remakes of classic movies, but I'd love to see cross-cultural remakes. Night of the Hunter could have the bare bones translate to any culture with a tradition of charismatic religious men and tough old ladies, so how would it have gone in Kyoto of the 1890s or Sicily of the 1920s, or any of the other many possibilities?
