I mention a modern day Holmes adaptation and they think I'm talking about BBCSherlock but I actually bring out my secret weapon (Sherlock Holmes x war propaganda made in the 1940s)
"Most movie fans know that Rick in Casablanca never really says 'Play it again, Sam.' They know that Tarzan never really says, 'Me Tarzan, you Jane.' Well in the movies, Sherlock Holmes really does say 'Elementary, my dear Watson.' He says it lot!"

A series of 14 Sherlock Holmes films was released from 1939—1946. Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce portrayed Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson. The first two films were produced by 20th Century-Fox and released in 1939. Universal Pictures acquired the rights from the Doyle estate and produced a further 12 films.
The films from Fox had large budgets, high production values and were set in the Victorian era. Universal updated the films' setting to the then-present time of World War II with Holmes fighting the Nazis and produced them as B pictures with lower budgets. All but the first three films were directed by Roy William Neill. [X]
