these three may have chosen fields of work that might make them seem intimidating, but that couldn't be farther from the truth! when you look past the alchemy, or the supervillainy-in-training, or the being in the russian mob, you'll find a nice, hardworking, relatable, at least 2/3rds of them are gay i don't know about the other one, guy. but the question remains: who's the funkiest, littlest and baldest?

Hmmm plot on the graph: anastasia/nero, elena/nero (interested in your differences in opinion if you have any) cypher/nero & franz/nigel. You don’t have to do any/all of these of course ✌️

Anastasia/Nero :: doesn't make sense, doesn't compel me :: I do LOVE your fics about this concept and secretly hope for more but when I think about what compels ME as a writer, the energy is not there. Like happy to read, but I don't think I could ever write this ship in a compelling way. It just ain't in me.

Elena/Nero :: doesn't make sense, compels me (for some damn reason) :: I think probably one of my favorite things I have written is in the frigel epistolary fic where Nigel awkwardly asks, "so, um, what motivated you to become a teen parent?" Nero's life with the details revealed is just like. What! Your entire life has revolved around the death of your teenage beloved and you're still an alcoholic about it forty years later??? SIR. But despite the fact that we have like. All of one scene featuring Ms. Elena, I am so compelled by it. Perhaps it's just the freedom. Perhaps it's the fact that the only certainty in this ship is trauma. But I feel like when I have had the opportunity to write Nerolena stuff I manage to come up with the most compelling stuff of all time.

Cypher/Nero :: doesn't make sense, compels me :: I think that of all the things I have written this ship is the one most likely to get me shot in-universe. To me, their hatred surpasses even the possibility of hatefucking. AND YET ISN'T IT FUN TO IMAGINE

Franz/Nigel :: doesn't make sense, compels me :: is it necessary for every teenager in every YA book to be paired up with a classmate by the end of the series?? No. However Franz and Nigel will have a summer wedding and beautiful babies

Sorry I took so long to reply, I knew I had some HIVE fic in the works somewhere and I wanted to try and dig it out.... Anyway, have a bit of experimenting I was trying to do writing about G.L.O.V.E from an outside perspective- small Nigel Darkdoom, learning about his father's death....

“Nigel,” mum says, hastily swiping at her face and attempting a wobbly smile at him. “You remember- Uncle Max.” she waves a hand limply at the tall man in the dark suit standing by the fireplace. There’s a blood red scarf-thingy wound around his throat, and Nigel’s mind wanders to all the images of Count Dracula that had been plastered everywhere when Dad took them to that place by the sea with the ruins on the hill, and all the pirate ships. The man’s eyes are fixing on him with peculiar intensity; Nigel takes a step back and- -remembers.  “You…came for dinner, once,” he says. “You- you work with my Dad?” he brightens up. “Does this mean Dad’s going to be home soon?” Mum’s face crumples up again. “Oh baby-” “I’m afraid that there was an accident,” ‘Uncle Max’ says gravely. “Your father did not survive.”

Anyway I seem to recall abandoning this because it was it wasn't really working the way I hoped it would, although what I was aiming for I don't know....

Imagine a H.I.V.E. scrabble game.

Otto, Laura and the Professor would be making technological words the others aren't sure are real.

Raven's not really bothered, but participates anyway to stop nagging. However, she will form words in other languages if she sees them before an English possibilty and will send the others her most deadly glare if they say anything.

Seeing that Raven's technique works, Nero will put a random bunch of letters together, saying that it's Latin because, damn it, he is BUSY and wants the game over and done with. Nathaniel knows it's fake, but says nothing as he too has work to do and could bring it up in a later argument. Max makes a point of making the word homework as he looks at Shelby.

In response, Shelby forms the word no. (Uh oh, someone's getting detention).

Franz loses because H.I.V.E.mind, who is counting scores, deducts points for spelling errors. Franz doesn't use German unless he's really stuck because he "can be developing his English."

H.I.V.E.mind stops counting Nero's score. But if he didn't, Nero would win because of his cheating.

Nigel, Penny/Tom/Lucy- depending on who is alive at the time it's set- play the game like normal human beings. So does Wing, but he uses quite a few long and formal words.

If Diabolus participates, he has a habit of making words like "dick" (I don't know, he strikes me as that kind of person for some reason). Nigel is really embarrassed.

If Ms Leon plays, she messes up the board on her turn because she is a cat and won't let someone else put down her word. The Colonel uses this to his advantage.

If the Contessa's around, she refuses to play, but will watch if she thinks something will happen. She gets called a spoilsport for a few days after.

Franz was shivering when the final students were led from the Glasshouse. The triumph of his shot meant little now. He had been to all the dormitories in the facility before coming outside, desperately searching for one face who had remained notably absent.

“You look glum.”

Franz whipped around to see a paler, thinner boy than he’d known a few short months ago. But the bald head was unmistakeable, and Franz crushed him in a hug months overdue right away.

“I thought you were dead!”

Nigel gave a weak smile.

“You should know never to believe that about a Darkdoom.”

Ngl I’m quite proud that I’ve kept all of these to 100 words exactly so far, but I’m dying to write some longer stuff
