Aleks Nievazki, who lived in Manchester, was an immensely talented artist active from 2016-2020. This is what I could find of his work-- it's beautiful and inspirational. He frequently drew and painted book accurate depictions of Dom Claude Frollo, the antagonist from Victor Hugo's classic novel Notre Dame de Paris, also known as The Hunchback of Notre Dame. He was apparently also fond of drawing Dante, Othello and characters from other Hugo novels like Gwynplaine. He had a sure hand, a confident sense of line, and a deep emotion that infuses all his work.
This is most of what I could find. I'm sorry that I couldn't find anything else.

18, 29, 35, 37 for the artist ask meme?
18) What are you currently trying to improve on?
I’m trying to improve on drawing full body. I guess I’m making a success in it from time to time.
29) For traditional artists: How do you usually start on a big piece? (Light sketch, colored lead, sketchpaper, etc)
Well, I haven’t draw smg big in years, so I’ll use my old wips as an example. However I tend to start smg big from a tumbnail or a rough sketch. So first I have smg like this:
then it involves to smg like this:
to become smg like this in the end:
But these are old works and I parlty don’t like how they look. I’m not sure I’d used the same way to start a big work rn.
35) List at least one of your “artspirations.”
Disney has always been one of my artspirations as well as multiple artists like @burdge (who really influenced me when I was like 12?? and I still IN LOVE), @muirin007 (who inspired me with graphic works when I came to PotO fandom), @alvadee (also an inspiration from my days in phandom, the pencil and ink work!!), @elfinmirror (gosh i do have many artpsiration from PotO fandom), @thedrawingduke (just look at the coloring AND HOW CUTE EVERYTHING IS), @nievazki (I was amazed to know that I was nerding ower his works since my early days in NDDP fandom, which is a long time though) plus my friends @cosmic-shine (who was one of the first ppl in DW-fandom who I knew and I remember being inspired by the way she colors stuff), @clauduscumclaudo (graphics *0*) and @ginger-pinetree (watercolors *0*)
This list can go on forever on cos there’re so many ppl who were my artspirations across the years and these are just first who came to my mind. Probably if you are doing art and I’m following you then you’re my artspiration. Thanks for existing rn i’m gonna die of embarassement because I tagged far too many ppl
37) Draw a picture!
Since I remembered my time in phandom, here goes Erik the Opera nerd:

Thanks for saying it!
I don't want anything that has to do with him on my main blog, so I'm responding here. Stay safe everyone💕
Do you know what happened to nievazki?
You know, I’ve been on here for almost seven years, but I’ve never been too involved with personal drama and even that much of the community, but ofc I love my mutuals and always am happy to make friends. I was part of a hunchback discord server, but I haven’t really used it in a few months. On that server, I learned a great deal about this person.
I heard a number of things about that particular user, including some very serious and, if they are true, horrifying allegations. Conversations that I had with people lead me to believe that, almost certainly, these allegations are true. This is not a gossip or a drama account, but, frankly, just the absolute worst things that a person can be accused of, this user was accused of (and with evidence)..
As far as I am aware, the reason why this user is no longer active on social media is because of these allegations. And by allegations, I really mean - the things that they actually did.
I never knew them personally, but I knew that they were a very good artist and a Frollophile. I don’t think I followed him because, while his art was terrific at times, his blog was full of pornography and some very questionable views.
Speaking of these questionable views, the majority of the interactions I had with him were him reblogging my posts and doing lots of apologia for Frollo. A few years back, I made a post arguing that the Frollo of the novel is a villain, and not a romantic antihero as some claimed, and he (along with many others) complained that things like being a rapist weren’t that bad. At the time, I was like “huh,” but now that I know the truth about this guy, his weird opinions make a lot more sense.
Hope this helps.

I had a weird kinda character fixation on frollo ever since i saw his design and im so glad you draw him as much as you do :'D
hahah, I know the pain... I’ve got the same... problem? desease? whatever :’D You know, I love the book versions of Claude, and totally adore Nievazki’s and Amergo’s works, they’re beautiful. But the Disney’s version of Frollo, he’s design exactly is in my heart forever. Maybe he’s kinda far from the book (and it is so), but... He’s so stylish :D So subtle (hope I use this word right, lol). And his animation is just OMG. His gestures, his movement is so smooth... So yeah, while someone makes original content, I fall in love with a cartoon old man again. Don’t regret it at all. I draw him nearly every day and it never gets boring :’D It’s not good for me as an artist, to draw the same thing again and again, but I can’t resist to his charm. (Help...)

So! I just read Chemistry by Jodi Lamm, or The Hunchback of Notre Dame: The Ultimate High School AU. Here are my thoughts about the book.
First of all, thanks to @nievazki for spreading the word about this novel! (How did you find out about it?)
It’s definitely no high art, but I guess most of us like to enjoy a fanfic every now and then – and as far as fanfics go, this is a pretty creative and well-thought-out one. (I also like having my fanfics as self-published paperbacks, since I simply do not like reading hundreds of pages of text on a screen.)
So this is the story of The Hunchback of Notre Dame, but transferred to a modern-day high school. That’s... not an easy change to pull of, let’s put it that way. Hugo’s story cannot take place in a world with cell phones and forensics but no anchoresses and public hangings. And still, here we have it, taking place in a school setting with a 19-year-old Claude Frollo narrating the whole affair!
So the premise’s really odd. Out of all the classics you could reimagine for teenagers... But if you can suspend your disbelief, forget arguments like "a kid was stabbed at his home during a party and apparently no one bothered to call the police”, “this could all have been avoided had they checked the knife for fingerprints” or “why are there no guardians or personnel on this prom cruise to put a cap on this madness” and imagine it all takes place in some alternate universe that doesn’t work quite like ours, it’s actually really enjoyable.
First of all, it’s a very light and easy read. I’ve been trapped inside this whole week with my dislocated kneecap (of course it’s not literally dislocated anymore, but my knee’s still so swollen I can’t walk properly), so reading something fast-paced and melodramatic like this cheered me up quite a bit yesterday. I couldn’t put it down once I started.
It’s obvious Lamm has read Hugo’s original novel carefully, she references a lot of scenes and little details. So, oddly enough, despite the premise, it’s a rather accurate reimagining of the story! That means that sadly, Esmeralda’s as boring as ever. But Gringoire’s really fun, and Quasimodo (or Valentine, as he’s called here) is pretty okay too.
The best part, though, is that it’s all told from Frollo’s perspective. I don’t know, I just enjoyed reading this take on what he might’ve been thinking and feeling while doing what he does – for the most part, the events are close enough to the original novel that you can sorta apply and compare bits and pieces of the narration to the original. It’s interesting to read this thorough an exploration of someone’s interpretation of the character.
For about 80% of the book, you only need to suspend your disbelief somewhat, the action is unrealistic but not completely out there. Then the story jumps the shark big time, and the last 20% is wild overblown weirdness... But that doesn’t really matter, it’s fun to read anyway. Very dramatic.
So yeah! After binging on both Notre Dame de Paris and The Hunchback of Notre Dame the musicals all summer long, this was a fun read. Not a must, but if any Frollo fan out there wants to enjoy a glorified fanfic, maybe pick this one up.

Hey, are you still drawing Fresme artworks? Do you ship them? I'm a Fresme shipper and I just created my account here in tumblr just to join the Fresme community 😉 Do you know any other cool accounts that I can follow?
Hello! I am still drawing Fresme artwork! I post them first on my Instagram account @junipergoblinfly and then here in tumblr.
I kinda ship them (the book version). I mean: I like them being together.
Maybe you can go follow @nievazki he is a talented artist. @amergo posted NDdP stuff time ago, too. @burrowingdweller is also a great artist.
Unfortunately I think the Notre Dame de Paris fandom is poorly active now :(

I seem to recall @nievazki was wondering if there’s any fanart of Jodi Lamm’s The Hunchback of Notre Dame adaptation Chemistry. I’m reading it right now and I’m enjoying it lots – so I thought I’d do a quick sketch to show how I imagine Chemistry!Frollo looks like.
He even says he wears a felt hat. So, obviously a complete fedora dudebro.
#it's a fun read! a HoND high school AU basically#I know I posted about not liking AUs like yesterday... but exception proves the rule!#Frollo is 19 years old in this and he narrates the story#my sketches#HoND#Chemistry#Frollohommat
