When Dude was younger, he was into metal, especially some very obscure bands that make you wonder how the hell he found out about them. He had many CDs filled with obscure metal songs he got off Limewire and Napster. And that was all fine and dandy...

Until he discovered divorced dad rock...

i was listening to picture by kidrock and sheryl crow earlier so now im just thinking about rockstar!eddie who's made his name in the metal scene over a decade or two into his career. his band not really actively making music anymore but he still works with other artists on fun projects, mostly as the songwriter. eddie wasn't really expecting a song to develop from the rough concept, an idea or story actually drawn from his experience of getting his life back on track after a couple tries at rehab. at first he's thinking if the lyrics turn into anything it'd be a stripped down confessional about addiction and fuckups.

he meets up with a songwriter he's not worked with before, who's relatively known in his field but is more legend than man, steve obvs. they're just floating ideas around when eddie brings up the concept expecting it to be dismissed. instead the guy is interested and he suggests a duet. eddie and steve end up writing the song in a matter of days but he sticks around to help out with other songs, and they wind up getting close. like

the song is recorded as a duet with another artist who is well known but a completely different genre than what eddie is known for, but its heartbreaking and hopeful so its a hit. and like since its a female artist singing with him, maybe there are some rumors flying around about a possible relationship between the two or a fling with other celebrities eddie had been seen out with. and eddie laughs off any questions about such rumors for years. until maybe a decade or more later he gets asked about the song again on a talk show, the interviewer is asking about the inspirations behind the song and eddie laughs jokes about how he's always found the reaction to that song to be funny, the host asks for him to explain and for once eddie does. and he just gets a kick out of the public assuming that the story in the song were something that really happened between him and the women who sings with him, because while the struggles behind the lyrics are true the real story was the between the effect his addiction and depression had on his relationship with his uncle and friends...though he did end up falling in love with his co-writer on the song who also provided the other perspective present in the lyrics, he happily announces that him and steve had been married for a decade, originally tying the knot a year after they met

the story to this is that i was at a CD exchange where i got a few for free. and since many of you i follow on tumblr reminded me that The Beatles exist i said "why the hell not?" but i didn't check the inside of the case which was a mistake. since some i had gotten were in plastic still i didn't really think of it or bother to. when i arrived back home i opened my case and i felt like i had been drenched in pure disappointment. there goes my Beatles i guess.

i mean i don't care for nickleback too much i prefer other rock that is similar to it but whatevs

Went thrifting today. My local record/cd shop also has a second hand section. Pretty happy with my finds. Did get the David Bowie cd out of the new section, i just couldnt find anything of his in the second hand section
