Oh, I desperately need this Hades-Percy-dynamic in regards to Nico/Percy though.

This Hades? Who saved Sally Jackson, instead of danging her as a bargaining chip right away?

This Hades? Who offered Percy sanctuary and protection, instead of antagonizing him?

And this Percy? Who accepts the quest to retrieve Hades' helmet for him?

This opens the door to such a positive spin on their dynamic - and now imagine Hades' reaction when he learns that his son is hopelessly, obsessively in love with Percy Jackson?

I need Lord Hades, number one Nico/Percy shipper, captain of the ship, in my life right now.

Percy sees Nico again after so long and for a moment he doesn't even recognize him - and then he does, but it's so hard to reconcile the image of the young boy in his mind with what he's seeing now. Nico is different, and not just because he got taller and grew his hair out, but because of the way he's carrying himself, head held high and an easy smile on his lips, the way he looks like he knows that he could get the whole world on its knees if he so much wanted to (and oh, Percy would definitely not think twice before getting on his knees if Nico asked him to).

Percy looks at him and can't stop staring. He doesn't know why and he feels ridiculous, but there's something incredibly magnetic about this Nico, and Percy simply cannot stop looking at him. He feels like every second not spent admiring the handsome boy would be a wasted moment of his life.

He stares and thinks that he wants. He's not sure he ever wanted anything or anyone so bad in his whole life.

Of course Nico notices.

"You're staring at me".

And it's not like Percy can deny it, can he. "I know".

Nico is looking at him like he's waiting for an explanation, but Percy doesn't really have any. He can't really tell him that he saw him and his while world has shifted on his axis and he feels like Nico is his new center of gravity - he's ridiculous, but he's not that ridiculous. Maybe. Even thought he really wants to drop on his knees right here and now and just let Nico do whatever he wants to him.

Gods, he's losing his mind.

"You've been staring at me a whole lot, lately".

Percy nods, and just keeps staring. He thinks Nico must know the effect he's having on him, no way he's not aware of it.

"Care to tell me why?"

And Percy could say so many things in response - something to deflect and play it off, some half-assed excuse that wouldn't make him appear like the biggest loser ever, maybe even something that is cool enough to woo Nico back and sweep him off his feet.

Instead, what comes out of his mouth is, “You’re pretty”.

Which is ridiculously humiliating and also doesn't even begin touch the surface of what Nico looks like and the effect he has on Percy. But it is better than telling him he's having a hard time holding back from jumping on him right here and now, at least.

Nico blinks once, twice, eyebrows shooting up his forehead, lips parted in shock and surprise - and, gods, Percy can feel himself fall.

nico is heartbroken when percy tells him that he and annabeth are getting married. he won’t come out of his room in hades’ palace. seeing how heartbroken his son is, hades offers a solution. so nico knowing how horrible what he is about to do is but finding himself doing it anyway brings some drinks to percy’s apartment to share in celebration of his marriage.

percy wakes up in the underworld and while he is still groggy, nico pours pomegranate wine into his mouth.

he is now trapped in the underworld as persephone was.

Very attached to the idea that if Percy had been a woman she would have been named Ariadne. Like, I know that Persephone is a popular fanon name for female Percy because it's a nice way to keep her nickname. I've also seen Andromeda used by some because she lives a long life with Perseus in the myths. But Sally would have at least considered it right? Because Ariadne's a popular female figure in mythology, linked to both Theseus and Dionysus, two other famous figures in mythology. She was a clever mortal princess who was dealt a bad hand because her father's arrogance allowed him to think that he could get away with defying a god, just like how Poseidon's arrogance allowed him to think that he could get away with breaking the pact he made with Zeus and Hades. And in the end, Ariadne survived both her family's legacy and Theseus's abandonment, becoming Dionysus's immortal wife in both the PJO universe and in many retellings of the myth of the Minotaur and Theseus in real life. Ariadne got to live out her happy ending just like how Perseus did in mythology, which is the main reason why Sally even gave Percy the name Perseus to begin with. Am I delusional to think that Sally would have given a female Percy the name Ariadne? Who the fuck knows. But I'm so attached to the idea that it literally just supersedes any other name I could have come up with

Nico watches Percy poison Akhlys.

Day 2 of Percico Week - Powerful Percy (prompts by @percico-nicercy-events )

(Heavily inspired by Chapter 48 of House of Hades by Rick Riordan - Also this idea has been out there for ages)

Percy looked like a corpse, and Nico suspected he did too. Death mist did this sort of thing to a person, it was completely normal. Still, Percy looking so lifeless while still traversing Tartarus was a ghastly sight. Nico couldn’t see how he himself looked. When he looked down, he only saw fog. Maybe that was too thin to use as a descriptor, white smoke would be more accurate.

Akhyls was the goddess of misery, and the death mist. She claimed that this gift of smokiness, which would let them go unseen by monsters, was only viable if death followed. Well that sucked, but it was obvious her intention was to betray them from the beginning, so Percy seemed already ready to put up a fight. Nico took out his own sword, but it just looked like smoke. Riptide was the same it seemed, and did nothing to the goddess.

Nico could guess his weapon was under the same effect, so he didn’t attempt to use it. Instead, when Percy was lunged at, he put himself in front of the other. He took the blow hard, crashing into the ground as the goddess tried to tear into him. Despite feeling lighter and almost like he was smoke himself, he could still feel the sensation of claws digging into his flesh.

Before he could try handling this situation on his own, Percy was yelling. “Hey, Happy!”

He shouted more pleasant things about the goddess of misery, angering her to the point she was completely now focused on Percy instead of Nico. Nico could do nothing but watch as she screamed that they would both die. They would be sacrificed to Night. Their deaths would be painful. Wow, it sounded great.

Nico tried to get her sights back on him, since there was no way he was going to let Percy face her on his own. Despite his own fear, he cared about Percy too much to let himself run or hide. “Cheerful! Hey, over here Smiles!!”

Nothing, he meant nothing.

He sat up and watched while the plants that followed the goddesses steps started spewing sap, the poison flowing towards Percy. The poison settled around him, and Nico tried calling out more positive exclamations, but it was as if he wasn’t even there. Maybe the smoke had dissolved his form into nothing.

Percy laughed. That made Nico freeze. It wasn’t a cheerful laugh. It was broken, exhausted. Forced out in a wheeze that indicated Percy’s dehydration from their journey through Tartarus. A grin was on his face, and Nico couldn’t help but be mesmerized. In such a dire situation, Percy was showing a hidden side of himself. Nico didn’t mind it at all, but he worried about Percy’s mental state.

The pool of poison that had accumulated around Percy suddenly started flowing towards the goddess. “What is this?” She exclaimed with a disgusted look on her face.

Percy could control poison? He wasn’t sure how it was possible. Poseidon's domain was water, not poison- Though poison did have water in it…

There wasn’t much time to think it over, Percy continued to smile as the goddess started to cough. The poisonous fumes of her own creation were eating away at her. It was oddly terrifying, but also so cool. Percy was defending him, and that didn’t help the crush he still had.

Akhyls deserved this for sure, Nico wasn’t against this fate for her. However, Percy didn’t seem like the killing type. Him and Percy didn’t operate on the same moral code. He may find eye for an eye fitting, but Percy certainly did not think the same.

The grin wasn’t truly his, and the happiness he was taking in watching the goddess choke to death even as she tried to run away wasn’t him. Nico got up, and with no hesitation, he put a hand on Percy’s shoulder. He needed something to lean his weight against, Percy just happened to be a viable option is all.

“Percy, it’s okay. We’re safe.” His voice was soft and reassuring, he was keeping it low due to the lack of water.

The look of satisfaction melted away from Percy’s face, and his hands dropped as he let the goddess run off. He took one look at Nico, and suddenly he was back to normal. “Are you okay? Did she hurt you badly?”

Nico couldn’t help but smile a little at Percy’s concern, responding in a voice just as horse. “I’m fine. That was… Awesome, Percy.” He felt a little breathless.

“Was it really? I almost killed her.” Percy’s eyes were the same pretty shade of sea-green, even though he looked near death. Nico wanted to stare at them forever, but he would never be able to.

“But you didn’t. You stopped. This place does things to people, Percy. That wasn’t your fault. She threatened our lives, so you threatened hers.” Nico tried taking Percy’s hand, but they were smoke. “C’mon, we need to keep moving.”

Grover knew things. Most people didn't realize that; next to the big Percy Jackson, he was basically invisible. Even after following Pan's footsteps, he was still just a background character. Not that he minded, of course! He'd rather be just a side note than live through what Percy had to experience in all of his life. (He would NEVER want to be a demigod. No way.)

So, it wasn't like he minded being forgotten by people who weren't his friends. It made it possible to see things; to hear things.

To know things.

Like how the Stolls did most of their pranks. Or how Rachel found the loophole in her virginity oath. (That one was not something he wanted to know. Like, come on, girl! With Thalia?! Not something Grover wanted to know about his friends…)

Or how Nico di Angelo has been in love with Percy ever since the first time he looked at him. And how the literal second half of his soul has been in love with Nico ever since the guy saved their asses in the Battle of Manhattan. To be fair… the two of them weren't subtle. (Yet they still didn't realize their feelings. Idiots.)

Usually he stayed out of other's lives. He knew their secrets, but they were not his to spread. He just kept them. Like pretty jewels on a shelf; pretty, but basically useless. He only interjected when it was really important. Like in the battles. When he had to notify Percy about new rumors from Olympus. When there were gossips about Juniper.

But… maybe some secrets were more important to share than to keep.

For years, he saw the pinning grow. How crush turned into love, how suspicion turned into blind trust. Sometimes he suspected he knew them better than they knew themselves. He'd seen them grow up, from naive mortals to battle-hardened almost-gods.

He was the happiest he'd ever been with Juniper; didn't Percy, his soulmate, deserve the same happiness? Deciding to get involved was a scary thought. But not as scary as it was to imagine his best friend settling down with not having the best thing for him. To imagine Grover getting married and having the love of his life for the rest of their immortal lives, while Percy was thinking he wasn't loved, adored and cherished by Nico.

That was unacceptable.

He loved Juniper. He wanted to marry her, to have children with her, to spend the rest of their immortal lives with her. And seeing Nico and Percy laughing with each other, “talking” without any spoken discussion, being so comfortable with each other, yet believing their feelings were unreciprocated… Grover knew.

They deserved to have the same thing he had with his beloved.

Getting the two together was probably easier than expected, but harder than it sounded. He went shopping for Juniper's ring, taking Percy and Nico with him. For moral support, of course.

Not because he knew that as soon as they would get into the store, the two of them would stare at the rings with interest. Nope.

“Nico?” Grover asked. The younger boy raised his eyebrow curiously. “Do you think Percy's and Juniper's fingers are the same size? I forgot to ask about her ring size.”

Nico thought for a second, turning his head to look at Percy. Grover already knew the answer. “Yeah, I think so.”

They looked at the glass, studying the rings under it for a bit longer. Grover imagined how the rings would look on Juniper's gorgeous finger, and he suspected Nico was also thinking the same, except in his mind it was Percy's finger.

The Sea Prince was walking back and forth in the shop, like the ADHD demigod he was, before he walked up to them, throwing an arm around Nico's shoulder to check on their progress.

“Percy, I need your help,” Grover said. “Your finger is the same size as Juniper's and I want to see which ring would fit on her.”

Maybe seeing a ring on Percy's finger, Nico would realize he should put a ring on it.

“What do you think,” he turned towards Nico, “would look the best on-? I mean… If you were buying a ring for Percy, which one do you think would fit?”

His two friends were staring at him, bewildered. Too much? Probably.

“That.”

But it worked. Nico's answer was too quick, his choice was too perfect to hide he was thinking about it before.

“Oh,” Percy sighed. The ring really was perfect. Thin silver band with a tiny blue stone in it; deceptively graceful, just like Percy was.

“I would wear it,” Percy confessed, eyes still on the jewelry, his ears suspiciously red.

“Oh,” Nico exhaled.

“I would…” the Ghost King coughed, light blush pinkening his unhealthy pale skin. “I would buy it. For you. If you want, that's it. From me.”

It was painful to watch. Like a chariot crash. But Grover couldn't look away. It was happening!

“I mean… if it was you buying it, for me… That would be. Uh. I'd love that?”

They were so awkward. It was adorable. Grover felt like he was both the proud big brother of both, and the long-suffering love expert who has been waiting for this moment for years.

“You- really?!” Nico looked so excited; like a puppy. Hellhound, Grover admitted, but a puppy nonetheless.

Percy swallowed. “Yes,” he breathed.

Nico's mouth dropped open a little, as if he was surprised at how easy it was. Well. Probably it was surprising for him. Grover knew.

“Would you- really? Will you… Is it just…”

Percy blushed, redder than Grover ever had seen him before. “I will marry you. If. If that's what you- Was that? I mean.”

“Yes.” Nico was nodding, like one of those little toy dogs in the cars, bobbing his head up and down. “Percy. Will you marry me?”

Grover sighed, not bothering to hide his proud smile. Finally! After years and years and years… It was finally happening.

“Yes.”

This is the only prompt I could think about, but I think it's really cute and interesting. Percy bought Nico's aviator jacket in the Camp Store during TTC since they were in winter and Nico didn't have any winter clothes. Seeing how Nico treasured that jacket drove Percy to have the idea of giving him all his spare clothes from he was Nico's age. Sally is actually who suggested it to Percy after she met Nico in BoTL, and Nico was more than glad to accept his crush's clothes for his wardrobe ;)

This time it's Percy's turn to be a huge loser with a huge crush lmao

Part one, if you haven't read it~

Percy threw himself on his beach towel, trying his best not to spill his precious drink even in his excitement.

“Annabeth, he smiled at me!”

His friend looked up from the huge book she was reading, a skeptic but fond look in her eyes.

“Percy, he works in retail, smiling at customers is literally his job”.

Percy groaned, took a sip of his drink - not alcoholic, but maybe it could make him forget his huge absurd crush on a boy he didn't even know.

The prettiest boy you've ever met though, his brain usefully supplied. What did it even matter that they didn't really know each other and that they had exchanged perhaps a total of twenty words to each other? Nothing, not when said boy had the prettiest features Percy had ever seen, the most enchanting eyes, the deepest and most beautiful voice, and the most charming shade of pink coloring his nose and cheeks. And, finally today Percy could add to the list that he even had the softest and cutest honest smile ever - because Percy could tell the difference between a “customers smile” and an honest one, and the way Nico had smiled today? It couldn't have been anything but honest, and it had made warmth bloom into Percy's stomach, made his heart grow ten sizes.

“No, Annabeth”, he said, at the cost of sounding like a petulant little child. “He smiled for real! He even laughed a little!”

“Did he?”

“I'm telling you he did!”

She seemed to consider it for a long moment. Percy waited with as much patience as he could muster for her opinion. He could always count on Annabeth being horribly and unapologetically honest with him; he could definitely trust her to be the one to offer him a cruel but needed reality check to bring him back to earth.

She had been the main witness of Percy’s fall into the hopeless (or maybe not so hopeless?) rabbit hole that was his crush for the kiosk boy, had been listening to him ranting on and on about him for probably almost a month now, and had been dragged on the beach way too many times against her will for Percy to ignore her valid as always opinion.

“That doesn’t necessarily mean he likes you, Seaweed-brain, you know that, right?”, she said, and Percy knew, but his heart fell anyway. “Still”, she added, and Percy couldn’t help but perk up at the tone of her voice. He knew that tone - it was the tone she used when she was about to say something optimistic even against her better judgment. 

“I guess it is weird for him to smile like that at customers - at least, I’ve never seen him do it - and we do spend a whole lot of time on this beach and at the kiosk”.

She said the last part with just a tiny little bit of annoyance - but Percy knew her well enough to know that she would forgive him eventually.

“I need your support, Annabeth, you know that!”

“You could take Grover with you next time”.

“I did once, remember? He was even more nervous than me”, Percy said. “Not exactly the best wingman”.

Annabeth rolled her eyes at him. “It’s not like you’re doing much but staring at him and daydream anyway”.

Well, that was a low blow, but true.

“That’s not true”, he still said, just for the sake of it. It earned a raised eyebrow and the most skeptical expression he had ever seen on his friend’s face.

“Percy”, she said, slowly as if she was talking to a kid. “Showing off your surfing skills and hoping he’ll find you so incredibly hot he’ll fall on your knees for you is not doing something about this”.

Ouch. Alright, maybe Annabeth’s reality checks were a little too honest and harsh sometimes.

“You can’t know it won’t work”, Percy said.

She was right, of course - she always was, and Percy hated and adored her for it. 

He sighed, setting aside his drink and looking at the kiosk, his eyes finding Nico right away with practiced experience. He was serving someone, and Percy’s first thought was I wonder if he’s smiling like that at them too - which was stupid, and he knew that too, but knowing it didn’t really change anything. Percy was perfectly aware of how ridiculous he was being, but despite what Annabeth might have said about it, knowledge wasn’t always all that mattered.

He sighed, forcing himself to look away.

“What do you think I should do?”

“Well, you really only have two options”, Annabeth said.

It wasn’t exactly hard to guess what she was referring to.

“Either giving up or finding the courage of asking him out?”.

“Precisely”.

“Ugh”, Percy groaned. “You’re not much more helpful than Grover, you know?”

Annabeth laughed. “You know I’m right, Seaweed-brain”.

“I hate you”.

“Hating me won’t make you date the boy of your dreams”.

The boy of your dreams - oh, he really was, wasn’t he? Percy didn’t even know when exactly he had started to be unable to think about Nico, to want nothing more than to talk to him and get to know him for real; things had degenerated pretty fast - one moment Nico was just the cute goth boy working at the beach, and then the next he was Percy’s newest obsession.

It was weird - Nico wasn’t exactly his type; he seemed to be all dark and sharp edges, cloaked in black like he was constantly trying to hide in the shadows even under the bright sun. He looked like the kind of person that kept everyone at arm's length, and it only made Percy want to get closer and closer.

He realized his eyes had turned to him again, following his every move. He was talking to his friends, his words accompanied by wide hand gestures - Percy had noticed this habit of his before; it was adorable, really. Percy wanted to talk to him and see it from up close.

“He’s so pretty Annabeth, I’m gonna die”.

That was probably the thousandth time Annabeth had heard him saying that, so the roll of her eyes was definitely justified.

“Then go talk to him and ask him out”.

Percy groaned. She made it sound so easy.

He got up, took his surfing board again. “Maybe”, he said. “But first I’m going to see if my plan of being too hot to resist is gonna work”.

“You’re ridiculous”.

“Thanks, I didn’t know that”.

Annabeth rolled her eyes again and went back to her book. Who even preferred reading a book on a beach instead of going into the water? Percy would never understand that.

He walked towards the water with his mind still fixed on the same thought. He wondered if Nico liked the ocean - maybe they could enjoy it together, maybe Percy could teach him how to surf.

Maybe. If he could actually find the courage of asking him out.

PERCICO AU

after the second war ends Percy feels lost. he is going to school in new Rome with annabeth and majoring in marine biology but just isn't feeling it. then he takes a required art history class and falls in love. they are looking at some original works and Percy can feel and see the under layers with his powers. the paintings completely change with this aspect of his powers. the plain white statues scattered around new Rome are suddenly brightly colored. he wants to restore these works, but feels that he's too dumb to bc he's not the "smart" one in any of his relationships. he finally tells annabeth about his new interest and she fully supports it, saying she's excited for him and he can be interested in anything he wants to.

bc he's doing so well in art history (and feels like his powers are just tools to help him and not just giving him the answers like in marine biology), he switches majors. the professor offers him and some other students the opportunity to travel with them to Italy and Greece the coming summer to take an intensive course in learned art restoration. Percy is very excited but wonders if his mom and annabeth will be okay with him leaving again. they both give their blessings, with visible reluctance from annabeth. she just got him back and she did support his new interest but he's leaving again... Percy promises to stay in touch with IM.

the first leg of the trip is in Rome then Florence then Venice. there Percy runs into Nico. he is showing hazel around his hometown and Percy remembers hazel saying she would be going there that summer. Percy and hazel hug and hazel offers for Percy to go around with them. Percy looks at Nico and declines, not wanting to intrude (and make things awkward for Nico). Nico however speaks up and insists he should come. Percy acquiesces and they spend the day going around together. Percy points out what he knows of the art aspect whilst Nico gives the history he remembers. Nico and hazel are impressed by what Percy has been up to. whilst hazel goes to get them gelato, Percy and Nico sit at the edge of a canal. Percy compliments Nico on his hometown and Nico thanks him for accompanying them. they have a quiet moment together.

then a sea monster pulls Nico into the water.
