You are a bit similar, you and Mpov, just opposite side of the spectrum.

She really does not like L, and getting worse hiding it. This J M related stating the girls will be on s4 is really low of her tbh. I stopped following her, she is really negative and strongly biased.

But you tend to look away and disregard signs of his character being shady. Not just stupid ass but nice boy, no. Shady and egoistic.

Like the fact he takes pictures of A's b a@@ and R posts it, then deletes. GQ pic w 3 of 🤡 demonsrating L is taking it, with 🦀 looking back. Or her last summer pics from SH where she wears a tiny tiny bikini, he liked and most probably took.

The colours of their outfits at pap walk. It's the colours of Polin in s3, you have to be blind not to see. I am not sure he orchestrated, but 🦀 blue dress is very sus, and his light yellow is s3 Pen colour for sure. It possible though he was set up, idk.

I don't know the drivers behind, but these are really suspicious. I agree with everyone saying he must have been a sweetheart during Bton shootings bc everybody loves and praises him. The two personas are so opposite it's almost psychotic, so something is not addig up. Maybe he got hurt by N and these are him is being petty and getting back or sending messages to her? So ummm Zeno au<3 I’m really normal. Allow me to give a brief explanation of what Zeno is first You see, Zeno is a fictional disease sort of thing that makes people cannibals. Specifically an oneset is caused by traumatic events/extreme cases of unrequited love(specifically mostly familial) and the only cure is eating the flesh of someone else with Zeno.(not widely known.) It’s also transmittable through biting like zombies. there’s one specific facility with scientists dedicated to getting to the bottom of how to cure zeno, also housing ‘patients’ (or, people with zeno being used as lab rats). Now onto character lore.

So william and henry were good friends right. Yeah. Considering that they even have a small diner together. Well one day will got zeno (oh no!) and started slowly picking off kids going to the diner. He even accidentally attacked Charlie, who escaped in one piece luckily. Charlie went to the afton household to see if he was doing okay (because will’s like an uncle to her and all! And also what if everyone else got hurt?) only to find will ate them all oops. And yeah same happened to her, but since he transmitted zeno to Charlie he was cured! How convenient! The people in charge of the labs ended up roping him and henry into being scientists for them through shady shady means and well the two aren’t on good terms and avoid each other like the plague. Henry’s still sore over the ‘you ate my fucking daughter’ thing. Luckily he has his assistant/the archivist (tape girl) to keep him company. So Vanessa right! Crazzy I know. Nessa as we know comes from a broken family. In this specific au I’m mixing her backstory with the character who’s place she’s taking (hi kuro) so basically her parents. Neglect her. In favor of her younger sibling because she was born from her mom’s affair and blablabla… she grows up basically taking care of herself. Eventually she develops zeno and starts you know. Killing and eating random girls as you do. When one night she comes home and is confronted by her parents about this!! And well you can guess. What happens to them lol. She gets captured and taken to the zeno facility where she’s specifically studied/talked to by William! They’re funny bc nessa hasn’t had anyone willingly spend so much time around her and be so nice to her. Will … well she’s a specimen to him lol. Since being cured himself zeno has been a subject of interest to him, he’s thrown himself completely into his work (under the guise of feeling soooo guilty for his actions which henry can see right through) and well. He’s realized the consumption of human flesh has something to do with it, since eating Charlie cured him. So he’s been …. Robbing the morgue/killing people when needed to feed vanessa every time they meet. Which, she’s more docile when she’s not hungry so it kind of works but she’s not like cured you know. It has the side affect of her being hungry when it’s time for someone to chat with her though which was funny the one time henry had to go in will’s stead cause he offered her a granola bar and she was like 😐 ew.?? Anyways will has gotten her total trust because he also plays board games with her yay!! He’s the only one not enforcing the whole straightjacket-dog muzzle combo also so she’s like woah !! He sees me as another human unlike these other guys :DD (needless to say zeno patients are not treated very humanely.lol) there was also one time tape girl had to be a substitute for william but nothing of note happened they just kinda chilled and ness threatened her in a backhanded and mildly gay sort of way.as you do.

Anyway yeah so basically Henry’s been experimenting with treatment through amnesia and totally surely unrelated note at the actual start of the story, Will and Nessa wake up in a strange room with no clue who they are or how they got here, and have to navigate the now bloody and corpse-strewn facility while handcuffed together with nothing to guide them except each other and the only clue to their pasts is tampered resumes which effectively switch their backstories!! Nessa is under the impression that she’s the scientist (the whole cannibalism part was left out) and she thinks William is the serial murderer/cannibal. Which was funny cause she read her own resume like wow… I’m kind of a big deal huh :) and then read Will’s like ERM.OKAY… Will didn’t read either of the resumes. Also tape girl gave everyone code names and said code names were swapped on the resumes also! So ‘bonnie’(nessa) and ‘vanny’(will) are just kind of cluelessly walking around like damn this place is really… corpsey:) until henry starts showing up and trying to kill them (he contracted zeno big surprise) and also tape girl (assumed dead) shows up sometimes just to see how things are going. Lots of shenanigans and also murder ensue.

The game also has multiple endings so. sometimes nessa ends up killing william lol. Intestine jumprope…. … ……… Also side note.will found out it’s specifically zeno infected humans that need to be fed to patients to cure them but kinda. Didn’t cure nessa on purpose<3 because she’s sort of entirely dependent on him in this way and she’s kind of his only friend.the same way he’s her only friend……wacky wild!

Tape girl is having a fucking.day. Because henry mentioned he was going to do something but likeee. She didn’t expect to be caught in the crossfires of a HUGE MASS MURDER CANNIBAL EVENT.AS LIKE ONE OF THE 4 PEOPLE STILL ALIVE IN HERE,.. once he chilled out henry explained himself and she agreed to help out (she also decided to distribute some of her recorded notes.just for fun…after the two get separated for the first time ‘vanny’ listens to them and is like woah… i was a patient here⁉️ And bon was my unethical doctor⁉️⁉️ which is funny) but like. She is the only one NOT infected in here and would like to keep it that way so she’s having quite the time. Seeing vanessa walking around unrestrained keeps jumpscaring her LOL. Once ness’s zeno symptoms start returning well ofc will as the only one she’d encountered here who she cares about is the first target but tape girl nearly gets chomped too lol.

Zeno has an interesting affect on the subjects mood which is funny. Basically when an oneset happens and the person with zeno is running around eating people they’re in a crazed manic state which. Is really fun.will and nessa are wandering around handcufffed and he’s like uhh bonnie you okay cause her facial expressions.well they went from the example on the left to the one on the right.

It’s funny bc. The memory erasure actually technically did work… her symptoms only started returning bc she got bit LOL

Pre-the amnesia incident the other three’s interactions with vanessa were pretty.limited. Considering she’s theeee most dangerous patient. Will talks to her for like an hour daily but Henry only really knows her as ‘william’s mutt’ (he was especially not a fan when he found out will had been FEEDING HER HUMAN FLESH.) and tape girl is afraid of her but also. Kind of endeared from their two in person interactions. The second one in which vanessa tried to convince her to let her cannibalize her but hey she was very polite about it..!! Henry and tape girl are both shocked and stunned that she’s actually pretty chill when she’s not insane and eating people.

summary-genre, style, impressions

mating is a 1992 longish romance novel. i saw it mentioned online a few times and then nyt plugged it as a trending work w younger ppl looking for a more encouraging take on love. so far its been more about a relationship than outspoken/internal love. more gestures and recollected conversations than like unspeakable feelings.

the main characterrs are white expats in botswana, presumably in the 90s. botswana is apparently entirely an alpine desert. water politics obviously play a big part in everyday life. the female narrator--unnamed im pretty sure eek--is recounting her life in africa leading up to her relationship with nelson denoon, who lives on a v isolated desert commune. snippets of conversation (childhood stories, agreements and disagreements, big theories) from their time together breaks up the linear narrative (abandoned phd>a few lovers>meeting denoon>pursuing>winning his company (its rly like that)). the book seems to be a retrosprctibe on the relationship so it seems likely that it does end.

both characters are rly smart and critical. narrator is a doctoral student, denoon was an esteemed prof at her uni at some point long ago. they are described by their opinions both of which are v thorough and educational to read. if i were to note everything i want to rmr it would be p stifling. similarly the vocabulary is more varied than most books ive read. new words almost every page.

summary-plot

narrator starts by dropping out of her thesis. her research was misguided bc of language or microcultures or something. also there are so many phd theses by white grad students that it kinda feels irrelevant. she decides to take her time returning to usa, embarks on her first aimless time of life. the expat scene caters to that. white ppl living in luxury abound in the city. her position as white attractive native language speaking persona gets her into a lot of good parties and leads to several overpaid jobs.

she has a few flings. her first is explicitly to get to victoria falls it seems? or ends up being that way. a photographer, kinda petty, reduces scenes to their photographic potential. narrator knows too much ab the culture to rly take him seriously.

second male relationship is with a spy. she massages his back a lot. he tries to give her nice stuff but shes less about that. she does try to get info from him which creates difficulties for awhile but eventually he does give out things (of various novelty), eventually leading to him describing denoon. narrator wants to meet him so they go to a party where hes slated to attend. she meets his wife first who is drunk n distraught but also drags narrator to meet her husband. their marriage has run its course. narrator is impressed w him and also makes effort to impress him. she finds out where hess staying and visits some time later w intent to learn ab his project. by this time shes also rly interested in him. his politics are correct aka he is vested in improving the community and tries not to position himsself as an outsider. he thinks outside influence often leads to ressentiment in the community. kinda forget the details on that. as well as most of the other social theory expounded bt them. they are experts. nonetheless he says no we dont accept anyone else on the commune and she leaves his home and he leaves for back to the commune.

narrator runs into ex wife in town. she runs to greet narrator and walks her along to get more drink (already v drunk) and they talk. ex wife eventually reveals location of commune. when they depart she goes back to her current partner, shady white african (boer?) businessman, w intention of leaving africa soon.

nar preps to crash the commune. sells her stuff, reduced down to a couple big bags. the trip through the desert is hard and ends w 4-5 days of walking w 2 donkeys (1 runss off w her water and supplies; its hard n she arrives in v low health). she is nursed back to health by several women. the compound has a lot of permacultural features. she hasnt met denoon yet. ofc we know him relatively well already bc of the broken narrative structure.

well i guess im an 'early' 30s lost for purpose culturally sensitive individual. but narrator does not think like me; more purposeful and analytic. denoon also doesnt really have much of me in him. i like agreeing with them and following their exchanges.

is it that radical

the cultural analysis addresses problems of whites abroad well. the relationship is portrayed through their stories so far. she has fun with him and he values play. at the same time theyre both smart enough to rly play deeply. then again its a novel ab two characters, how could they not be interesting and well fleshed out after 150p. if its actually a romance novel then ive read a lot of those bc it feels p familiar.

what’s worse is that my dad has been texting her about his own ‘death beneficiary’ & asked for my full name??? i was already on his will so im almost positive that they are conspiring (she would have said something to make him do it - most likely so that i don’t get any of his money or his house??? which is SO FUCKED UP like WTF) together to basically take me off of it & put her on it. they’ve been divorced since i was not even 2 years old. how evil can someone be… all she gives a fuck about is MONEY. ive never been like that.. im sentimental. i spent all my $$ on the ppl i love n they all fucked me over. i still.. to this day.. buy her whatever she wants.. anything she likes.. just to try & get her to be nice to me… to pay me some attention.. to spend time w me.. it works for about 30 seconds if that. she usually RETURNS my gifts for the cash bc she knows how much money i have spent on her. she doesn’t buy me a single gift for any fucking thing. yet id still give her the world if I could. i hate myself for it. i will NEVER FORGET my dad calling me around the time my nan was dying and telling me how much of a piece of shit i am & saying that im “nothing but a fucking bitch” bc my mom straight up lied to him n told him the only reason i talk to/see my dad is so that when he dies I’ll be able to get his house & money. Just saw your post about the many sherlock holmes adaptations and their problems and wanted to ask, what do you think are the worst and best adaptations + your opinion on the bbc show vs guy ritchie’s adaptation

PHEW okay big question. so in my personal opinion my favourite adaptation is the ritchie one and my least favourite is bbc. objectively speaking the worst ones are ... well there's a lot I'm ngl I'm very picky but probably Holmes & Watson, the absolute trainwreck that some cruel force allowed to be made and released in 2018 which is awful in every single way like it's genuinely unwatchable. Granada/the Jeremy Brett one is probably the most faithful, but i think Murder by decree and Without a clue are great takes on it, and of course The private life of SH is iconic and Russian Holmes is close to my heart because the locations and architecture etc look really similar to where i live so it's really special that way. (i actually have a tierlist of almost every adaptation I've seen, there's been more since but I've been too lazy to update it lmao)

i think there's several layers to what makes an adaptation great, like to ME the most important thing is that they nail the h&w dynamic, either by using the one in the books or by making it clear that they understood what the dynamic was and chose to put a different spin on it but like. if they're not obviously "can't live without each other" friends and (at least) a little bit gay then what's the point. also with modern adaptations there's smtg I've literally only seen done right ONE time, which is Holmes's drug use where everyone adapting it to the 21st century insists on keeping it cocaine or smtg similar? which, like, no????? like ppl don't seem to realise that when he was written, cocaine was like. perfectly acceptable. and Watson still worries about it because he's a doctor but that's in no way equivalent to someone NOW using cocaine and their doctor friend worrying. there's that super old post that's like "modern holmes should be addicted to energy drinks" and well yeah. absolutely that, or the way House md solved it by having him be addicted to painkillers that he gets in a kinda shady way sometimes.

n then obviously there's the cases. again this is an opinion but i think it's good when they're straight up adapted, and i think it's good when they invent a brand new mystery, but i absolutely cannot Stand when they take an existing case from the books but put their own ~special smart boy~ spin on it cough cough MOFFAT like the worst examples of this are probably the way he butchered Baskerville and ASIB because he thought he was sooo much smarter than everyone and couldn't just adapt these extremely iconic stories straight up, nonono let's make them a billion times worse.

as for Ritchie vs BBC, i don't really think i can compare them, simply because I can't be objective? like the rdj holmes movies are easily among my favourite movies of all time, not because they're so outstandingly good but simply because I'm so attached to them, while even a mention of BBC can send me into feral dog mode. not to mention my history w them is 1. complicated 2. inherently tied to each other so yeah i don't think an objective comparison from me is really possible, at least if i want to avoid making this response a 10 hour read. but umm if i wanna go by key points:

1. i think rdj absolutely nails the h&w dynamic while bbc completely butchers it

2. rdj kinda expands his drug use but i think it works rly well with the kinda person his holmes is, i fucking hate the way bbc treats his drug use and the only slightly nice moment about it was in the unaired pilot that. well. didn't air

3. i haaaaate the way rdj handles irene and i fucking. despise beyond words the way bbc handles irene. i dont think i have ever seen irene adapted well it's fucking miserable

4. i think the cases in rdj are... fine? they're not good tbh as in like if i was here for a mystery I wouldn't really like it BUT they're original and written in a way where they give you, the viewer, all the clues that Holmes has, so you have the ability to figure out the solutions along with him, which is crucial to any sh adaptation (and mystery in general). it's also camp and fun and ridiculous which i really like so yea no complaints from me. bbc on the other hand. god. jesus. well i mentioned this before but i fucking hate the way they adapt every story to be almost the same but way way worse because they think they're so much smarter than the books AND the viewers. and this segways into

5. aka their treatment of watson. i fawking love rdj watson i think he's one of the best watsons out there and i like him coz of his whole attitude and personality but i also think he's written extremely well in that so often adaptations fall into the trap i mentioned in the other post where they think holmes is the smartest specialest boy ever and they're just like him fr and he doesn't need anyone so watson is either just some useless guy trying and failing to keep up with holmes or a straight up punching bag. but here they actually make Watson not just competent but absolutely indispensable to both Holmes and the story, it's clear that Holmes both relies on him in things he doesn't know as well as Watson does (crucial!!!!!) and trusts him (watson) to figure things out almost as well as he (holmes) can which i think are incredibly good and important things to put in an adaptation because at the end of the day it's holmes and watson not holmes and some guy who's sometimes there to be talked at and not understand things. which of course brings me to bbc where . literally the only thing john does is get kidnapped like he's barely even there for the cases let alone HELP in any way. so yeah.

anyway, oikawa is another one that is extra af when they come to your games

he probably makes a sign and paints his face in your team colours

and when you come out onto the court, he’ll blow you a kiss and if you don’t blow one back he’ll be so offended lmao

bc he always makes a big deal out blowing you a kiss or winking at you as soon as he steps out onto the court

it’s basically a thing he does for good luck at this point

also, if there are ever ppl trying to take pictures of y’all in public- oikawa is the first to make a big show for them

like he’s all up on you 

he’ll dip you then push his lips against you for a passionate kiss, in front of the ppl and they always go fkn crazy

sometimes you both come back from a rough day at work, slump on the couch and watch TV together

after showering, changing, dinner etc

he’s not nna come anywhere near you if he thinks there is a chance he might be stinky from practise 

he turned on the TV and it just so happened to be on an Live volleyball game in some language that neither of you understood

he’d snake his arms around your shoulders and pull you close to his chest, satisfied by your synced breathing 

he’d press a single kiss against your jaw before shifting his attention onto the channel

you’d lay there in his arms, both of you seeming content in each other’s presence while watching the game

in reality though, neither of you were actually absorbing anything that was happening on the court - you were just staring blankly at the TV

the TV simply served as background noise to your cuddling

tbh he was way more interested in hearing the sound of your heart beat peacefully against his chest 

after a while, if he gets bored, he might finally break the silence by inquiring about your day

but if he doesn’t, you’d probably end up falling asleep in his arms, forcing him to sleep on the couch bc he’s doesn’t want to risk moving and waking you up 🥺

anyway, he’s another one that likes to save volleyball for work then leave it by the door as soon as you step inside the house 

but he’s not as uptight about it as oikawa or kita

like he’ll happily put on a volleyball match for you guys to watch if he thinks the player’s techniques are impressive

also, if the weather is nice, if you ask him to come out and practise with you for a bit and he’ll say yes 🤠

but actually 🤔 now that is think about it, if you guys had a pool in your back garden sakusa would definitely make the most of it

hello! I was wondering if u could make a summary of all the suitors' flaws n how Jonah would react to them

I would be more than happy to!

SPOILERS BELOW THE CUT

Ray: his main flaw is his willingness to trust others that are close to him. That doesn’t really sound like a flaw, but in Seth’s route, even though he knew that there was a spy, he still refused to believe that his one of his friends could’ve betrayed him. That’s super nice of him as a friend, but I feel like Jonah wouldn’t consider it as a good trait for a King.

Sirius: he has the physical inability to express his feelings properly. Like, in his own route, he barely ever said “I love you” to MC, and I feel like he’s trying really hard to fit into the “mature and stoic guy” category. Jonah kinda struggles with the same things (can’t talk about feelings + tries to be cool), but I don’t think he’d appreciate them in someone else. 

Luka: he’s unwilling to change his own perceptions. For example, in his own route, one of the big things he struggle with is feeling unimportant because ppl don’t need him. That’s not actually true, bc he’s the Jack of Spades now and an entire territory is depending on him, but he’s so stuck in his own idea of himself that he can’t even see it in another way until MC comes along. He also applies this to Jonah, and strongly believes that Jonah abandoned him when Jonah was training to become Queen. I don’t know if Jonah will understand why Luka acts likes this, but he’s always going to be sad when his beloved little brother detests him.

Fenrir: he’s way too obsessed with fights. Look, I know that his description is “a battle-crazy gun maniac” and he uses magically modified guns and he doesn’t mean any harm by liking to fight bc he’s a super active guy, it’s still kinda unsettling (also bc I can’t actually think of any other character flaws bc Fenrir is a good boi). Jonah would definitely find this behavior untasteful, especially since Fenrir also comes from a good family.

Seth: probably how manipulative he is. In his own route, his mission is to “seduce” MC into joining the Magic Tower (remind you of anyone else???), and he succeeds in making MC fall in love, like, 10 parts in. He also fell in love with MC along the way, but he lured her with his body XDD. Jonah probably disapproves of some of his methods, but he can’t complain too much because he kinda did the same thing.

Lancelot: he’s too self-sacrificing for his own good. I mean, when Amon became a threat, instead of telling everyone else about it, he chooses to shoulder the burden himself. I can understand that he’s trying to spare those that he cares about, but he should know that the others aren’t exactly weak and fragile. Jonah would be super frustrated by this (like in part 23 of his own route), and he’ll try to help his King in whatever way he can.

Edgar: his shadiness oof. Like, at first you think that he can be trusted, and then you think that he can’t, but in the end you find out you actually can. He’s like an inverted oreo: white on the outside, black on the inside, but actually still white deep down inside. Being the honest person he is, Jonah probably struggled with Edgar’s personality at first. But they’ve known each other since they were children so Jonah probably got used to it over time.

Zero: you know what? After mulling over this for ages, I can’t actually think of any of Zero’s flaws. He’s literally the goodest boi in Ikerev.  

Kyle: his insensitivity to others’ emotions. He cannot read the atmosphere most times and he’s also one of the most emotionally clumsy people in the game (afsdfdf he’s adorable). However, Jonah is the type of person who needs to be handled with care, since he’s not the most emotionally able person ever. It would’ve definitely rubbed Jonah the wrong way at first, but just like how it was with Edgar, Jonah probably got used to it over time.

Harr: his unfrienliness probably. He’s literally the nicest person once you get to know him, but the emphasis is on once you get to know him. Unfortunately, not a lot of people have that privilege, and this is even before he became the infamous Joker. He’s just naturally introverted and aloof. Actually, pre-Joker!Harr reminded me of Jonah, because they’re equally tsundere and bad with expressing their feelings. Apparently Harr and Jonah didn’t get along great tho, so maybe Jonah doesn’t like to see his own personality reflected in others.

Loki: he’s a bit too clingy and has a tiny bit of yandere-ish tendencies (though I wouldn’t consider him as a yandere). Jonah would understand the clinginess to those he cares about (he’s the cling of hearts for a reason guys), and he could probably understand Loki’s desire to hold on tightly to people that are important to him.

Blanc: he’s a jerk because he’s only giving us glimpses of his backstory without any clarification and it makes me want to tear my hair out. Jonah is gonna march up to Cybird HQ and demand a route for Blanc.

Oliver: in Ikerev TW, one of his descriptions was “毒舌” and it literally means “poisonous tongue,” which describes Oliver pretty well. I get that some people are pretty attracted by his quick wit, but generally speaking, insulting someone every other sentence isn’t exactly a good habit to have. But like, just imagine Oliver and Jonah getting into an argument. Idek who’s gonna win.

NOTE: I don't really know that much about the next three suitors (Mousse, Dean, and Dalim), so I'll have to make my best guess about their flaws. If their route comes out (goodness knows when that'll be), I'll come back and see if I've got anything wrong!

Mousse: definitely his sleepiness and tendency to fall asleep in places other than his bedroom. I totally understand the desire to sleep all day every day, but I can see why it’d be super annoying. At any rate, Jonah certainly seems to think so, since he abhors laziness and Mousse is pretty much the epitome of laziness (unless it comes down to the things that he like, and then he turns super energetic).

Dean: his cruel and unusual ways of punishment that’s referenced many times throughout the series??? I don’t know much about him tbh (sorry to all the Dean stans!!!). Jonah has never complained about it (or even mentioned Dean at all), but he must’ve been Jonah’s teacher during some point in the Ikerev universe, especially considering that Jonah and Harr were in the same grade and Dean makes an appearance in Harr’s Class Companions event route.

Dalim: probably that he’s overly-dedicated to those he’s loyal to. Dalim knows that Amon is not a good person and what he’s doing is very wrong, but he still does Amon’s bidding because he is a firm believer in Amon supremacy. However, he has tried to save Cradle on multiple occasions, so I guess that makes up for it. In fact, I think that Jonah would actually appreciate this flaw, because he’s just as dedicated to Lancelot as Dalim is to Amon, and they both tried to intervene when they believed that their King/Lord was up to something bad.

You could also say that one of Dean's more obvious flaws is that he's very blunt. While he's a smooth talker when it's convenient for him, more often than not he doesn't sugar coat his words when he's pointing out other people's flaws.He says it like it is. This might lead to Jonah being offended on more than one occasion. On the other hand, i don't think Jonah likes Dalim's debauchery. He might think that he fools around too much. He might've chastised him at some point, but gave up when he saw that he wasn't listening. Dalim is hard to tame. There were a few times when he didn't listen to Amon's orders and he also did that thing at the end of Ray's ttlg route which proved that he's not as loyal to his lord as he seems.

BONUS:

Jonah: Jonah literally stated himself that he knows how reckless and stubborn he is, but he doesn’t have any intentions of changing that. And I just. That’s actually such a strong thing to do??? He legit accepts himself as he is without trying to change anything about the way he is. Self-acceptance level 10/10.

Opinions on what MCU done to Doctor Stranger?

i think the casting is terrible, first off so i find it very hard to say anything nice. and i think they took a lot of what’s problematic and tropey from the comics and.. didn’t do anything to fix it? but that’s a whole other issue. as for like. strange as a character. he’s just not likeable lmao. i think benedict cumberskajsveudkeb makes every character he plays unlikable because he himself has an inherent superiority vibe and whilst comics strange DID start out as an arrogant douche, he learned?? whereas i don’t think mcu strange has. the entire lead up to him crashing his fancy car in his fancy suit just made him so fucking unrelatable. and like i said, there’s a certain element of that which is necessary to strange as a character but idk i think they tried to make it an understandable arrogance or whatever but just missed because very little in the mcu is ever actually ABOUT character.

he treats his love interest like actual shit the entire time, even after he’s had his big magic epiphany. not ONCE was there any chemistry or anything that makes you think there’s any real respect towards her. which is why the what if episode ppl were foaming at the mouth over a week ago or whenever was incredibly funny like. he goes evil because the woman he was horrible to dies??? she had a about 5 lines in the entire film, essentially didn’t matter at all to any of the characters and isn’t a character that’s recognisable as an iconic staple of the franchise? she’s not mary jane or anyone memorable so it’s just very funny that they’re trying to use her death to make this bitch seem even slightly likeable as a character. CLASSIQUE comics girlfriend dying man cries about it situation. he deserved everything bad that happened to him because it was the consequences of his own bullshit so. unfortunately i will not be sympathising

also the progression in his abilities are genuinely laughable like. predictable because dr strange is mighty whitey trope central second only to iron fist but even looking past that. the first time i ever saw him in a movie was in endgame because i didn’t watch dr strange so with his powers i was just like ok i guess he did a lot of work n there was a lot of development in his solo? n then one day it just happened to be on in the background on like. a tv channel w commercial breaks n he just??? doesn’t do shit?????????? one day he’s unshaven and shaking when doing a portal and the next he’s just throwin them around like it’s aperture laboratories??? get outta here w that shit. he’s already an incredibly rich, pretentious, arrogant man and then without changing any of that he can now do magic?? not once was there ever any change in how he thinks of other people as lesser than him or as pawns to further his medical career etc, never did he learn that he’s not all powerful or that there are repercussions to your actions. there’s no GROWTH which makes an initially arrogant character a likeable one. i don’t care for mcu tony stark but i see why people do. he IS likeable, he HAS grown and learned and i see his motivations for wanting to be iron man and a superhero, w strange there just isn’t any of that. he doesn’t particularly like helping people or doing good? or care about the world around him? why would he want to be there on a superhero team???? he doesn’t even have the good sense of being FUNNY in that 12 y/o boy just learned what boobs are mcu humour kind of way. he gets rewarded along the way w the sanctum, the eye of agamotto and the cloak and for doing WHAT exactly

comics strange was a dick, this is a fact but there’s layers to it?? his girlfriend died and he couldn’t help her when he was in med school which soured his outlook on medicine as a whole because he took it as being his fault, same with his parents. so like, already, there’s some kind of a reason for him being the way he is other than. smart rich fancy man thinks he’s better than people because he’s smart fancy and rich

he ended up at the ancient one as a selfish move to fix his hands and wasn’t having any of the mystic shit but one day he saw mordo doing some shady shit and mordo did some shady shit to him magically speaking and thought hm don’t like that and WANTED TO HELPPPPP AND STOP HIM!!! so he stuck around and eventually realised the best way to do that would be via magic and such a big part of him learning that was that he wanted to do so for unselfish reasons. and it took YEARS. he travelled and built relationships with other sorcerers and did good w them and then eventually the avengers. and the sanctum and sorcerer supreme thing was given to him because he earned it and he only ever actually set out to be a mystical consultant, he CHOSE to do the superhero thing off of his own back. it’s just… leagues apart. he’s unrecognisable. even the friendship with wong isn’t there. they’re like mystical matt and foggy but in the mcu i don’t even get friends vibes from them. strange wants a servant and wong tolerates him. where is the heterosexually gay married aura of it all

ANYWAY. i’ve read a fair bit of dr strange stuff and literally not one thing that i like about it was in any second of that movie or at any point since. the commercial breaks were the best bit. capitalism saved me. if it wasn’t an mcu movie people would have criticised it SO much but mouse free pass i guess

How I feel about this character

i honestly dont really care about him. hes pretty meta n i personally think hes kinda hard to play (like he can either be a huge pain for hunters or really screw the whole team over, mostly when he goes down). hes also generally pretty popular in the fanbase. i do think its interesting that we dont actually have his actual name since naib subedar is actually a rank in the army. im also not gonna go into how the fandom. woobifies him (apparently??????????? how?????? why????????????)

anyway i dont really. feel much for the traumatized war veteran really. like i acknowledge his whole PTSD thing can be interesting to explore, but i dont have expertise in that area n its not something i would want to work with. his stage play actor did make me like him a lot though hes a real riot

bradley has this memory of meeting her grandmother for the first time n everything in the room was frozen still. even the air. she didn’t feel like she cld move n she got the impression this is how it’d always been in the milligan lineage. the only thing that was allowed to act of it’s own accord was her grandmother’s eyes as she tracked every slightest flinch of muscle. when her father left the room her grandmother reached out and took bradley’s hand n bradley looked at this like it was smthn she’d never seen before until her grandmother leaned close and all she could stare at was a nicotine stain on one of her front teeth. “he’s cold, isn’t he? he’s always been cold. i don’t think he’s mine.” bradley could tell from how tight she held her hand that he was. she could tell by the way she smiled as she said it, too. the way she felt obliged to smile back.

growing up in a huge white house in aquila drive w pruned hedges sounds idyllic n looks it too. swanky cars w tinted windows in the long driveway. always men filing in and out under the cloak of night wearing expensive suits n smiles worthy of a politician’s billboard. bradley’s mum alyssa thought so too n that’s hw she got into this whole mess tbh. tony milligan is very good at advertising. he cld package a jarred human heart as strawberry jam and convince u to spread it on ur toast if he wanted to. he could make u smile politely as u ate ur own. 

alyssa ws this very pretty blonde kind of mysterious presence in a room. everyone wanted to kno her story or fk her but noone rly treated her like a person more just like a puzzle to solve. john green syndrome alert..... literally manic pixie dream girled bt on turbo charge. there were vague whispers she’d run away from home when she appeared in town out of nowhere bt nothing concrete. tony decided he wanted to crack the case n once he set his mind to something there was no changing it. they wound up embroiled in a whirlwind romance. head over heels. he came at romance hard and fast as a freight train. alyssa knew he was into shady things but not quite the full extent of it n honestly she didn’t care bc she wanted security n a family to call her own n tony promised that. they were married within a year. 

tony came frm money bt he wanted to carve his own path n make his own legacy. destined fr greatness he’d tell her. we’re destined for greatness. it sounds nice doesn’t it! alyssa thought so too.

(drugs mention tw) slowly over the yrs he essentially forged his own crime organisation tht only grew. he opened a strip club down the seedier side of irving called ‘no angels’ n this became the front thru which his gang ran drugs in the back (predominantly coke n they pride themselves fr having a Superior Blend apparently) as well as laundering cash n this also was kind of their home base to hang

(abuse tw) their marriage increasingly lost it’s shine n alyssa came to realise she’d been sold a lie n she didn’t rly know this person or what he was capable of right around the time bradley was born. by then it was kind of like Wow i am rly in this n there is not an exit door huh. i won’t go into details bt things were not good at all. bradley witnessed n experienced a lot of things she shouldn’t have growing up. she didn’t understand why other kids drew home in all these different coloured crayons like they were bright places to be. she didn’t understand why everyone got so excited when the bell rang at the end of the day bc she just felt sick. she rationalised tht this was normal when she was younger bc sometimes kids talked abt the monsters under their beds giving them nightmares n she thought mayb they were talking abt their dads too. as she got older she realised tht actually her world wasn’t the same as anyone else’s n she also realised no-one wld ever be able to tell her why. she started becoming friends with the angry feeling in her chest tht she used to try and swallow around this time. often she’d wander the mall for a while to put off going home. smoke on random park benches. watch trains rattle thru town from the vantage point of a random rooftop. 

(abuse, missing person implied, murder implied & grief tw) when bradley was 12 she woke up and all of her mum’s clothes were gone frm their drawers. no shoes anywhere. a framed photo of them at the beach holding bradley as a baby vanished from over the mantelpiece. when bradley asked her dad what was going on, tony essentially said “it was exhausting her. being here. being your mother. she didn’t want to do it any more, so now she’s gone” n then he hugged her. little details leaked into the mix over the yrs. at one point tony dismissed her as having flown overseas to a foreign country to drink in the sun like she’d always wanted even tho alyssa always told bradley she liked the snow best (once she even walked outside as it fell in a thin lace nightgown when tony was out n when bradley said “mom you’re gonna get cold” she only tugged her down and made her do snow angels until her lips looked blue). the most significant memory bradley can never shake from her head is her mother cupping a yellow tulip at the park n saying she hated them. when bradley asked why she only turned and smiled at her as she stroked the hair from her face n then said “because they look so happy”. after bradley’s mum vanished a long flower bed at the bottom of the garden was suddenly overrun with dozens of freshly planted yellow tulips. whenever bradley looked at them out of her window she got this sickly feeling in the pit of her stomach like she was visiting a cemetery. she suspected what had happened to her mum (especially as rumours circulated within tony’s organisation abt alyssa being unfaithful with someone tht used to work fr him) bt she cld never bring herself to truly accept it. thus she ws stuck in this strange purgatory state of not-quite-anger at her mum for “leaving” and not-quite-grief.

bradley rly started to transgress in school after her mum was gone. alyssa was always kind of a character when she’d pick bradley up (wasn’t doing well n acted kind of ‘eccentric’ i suppose u cld say) so tony managed to spin it all as a child acting out in the wake of an unfit mother uprooting n abandoning. bradley became........ interesting. JKHGFSSKJGHFSGHSKFGHFG. she’d snap n resort to violence very easily. very desensitised to it. students were kind of scared of her tbh. as this progressed into proper high school she got in w the more rowdy popular crowd solely bc she was so fking.... wild for lack of a better word. rly would just do anything fr the thrill. had no sense of ‘i shouldn’t do this bc it’s dangerous’. partied harder than anyone. bit back harder than anyone. no filter. hung w a lot of guys honestly bc they had less morals n either found her scariness cool or wanted to fk <3

(hospitalisation, depression & drugs tw) she’s had. a few stints in psychiatric institutions fr various reasons tbh. missed a small chunk of her senior yr fr this but it wasn’t widely known just kind of rumoured. she showcases a lot of similar symptoms to her mum who struggled w severe depression (which was difficult to cope w when ur husband was often pouring ur prescription down the drain fr kicks) n in order to compensate fr the lows she takes a lot of things to kick them into highs. drinks n snorts too much. bradley i love u bt i’m begging u to seek healthier coping mechanisms......

as the yrs went on (especially once alyssa had gone) tony rly started trying to integrate bradley into the business side of things...... she literally. is named bradley bc he was expecting a boy n he was like well let’s still call her bradley. n had in mind she’d still fulfil the role he wanted her to of being his little protege so to speak.... both sexist n ugly all in one fell swoop...... an example of this is he literally. bought her a mint green switchblade for her 14th birthday n named it tinkerbell bc it would “die without attention” aka using it. tht sounds like a healthy gift to give a child tony congratulations sis <3

in an ideal world bradley wld have gone to uni to study psychology bc she jst wants to know how the fk her dad is literally like that bt she probably stuck around n is now managing no angels along with billy n marco (billy’s in her dad’s gang n is, u guessed it, a cunt, n marco is his sort of right hand man so to speak) bc tony’s in the closest neighbouring city overseeing a second ‘no angels’ opening up there to expand into a franchise n widen their income margins. bradley wld also be sort of used as a honey trap type deal once she got older if they needed to lure ppl places n sometimes still is bt it depends. the guys in the club all know not to mess w bradley bc she’s tony’s daughter n literally kind of scary herself sometimes bt there’s also this certain allure tht comes with being the boss’ daughter n it kind of comes across in how they act or talk abt her. yes i will kill them all n no i won’t feel bad abt it <3

PERSONALITY:

a phrase i wld always use to describe bradley in old intros is “like a cup of black coffee with one grain of sugar that u don’t taste until the last sip”. also dark chocolate. lime. liquorice. she’s an acquired taste n i feel like u either love her or u hate her. 

cannot express how unpredictably chaotic she is..... frequently throws a drink in a stranger’s face jst to start something bc she’s bored. loves to hurl cheese slices across the room so they slap onto someone’s face out of nowhere. likes smashing things. stubbing cigarettes out on faces in framed family photographs. will literally pick a lock n then smash the window besides it to defeat the whole purpose just bc she found how neat it was boring. does anything fr the adrenaline n thrill. gets into far too many fights n fights dirty. probably been thrown out of every bar in town at least three times. banned from a bunch too.

she’s witty bt she has a dark sense of humour..... can be quite mean.......... loves to roast ppl for no reason........ honestly has some nathan young frm misfits aspects in that sense like jst seems untouchable emotionally n like she doesn’t take anything seriously n is fking outrageous about it.....

has this quality abt her tht kind of scares herself sometimes. it’s like she recognises parts of her dad in her. she’s very perceptive (bc she’s had to be over the yrs trying to read every micro-expression of her dad’s to predict what’s next) n like emotionally intelligent in a way which is ironic bc her own emotions r just an absolute minefield.... bt. she can read people quite well. gets this eerily calm look abt her sometimes n it’s jst like god what’s. she thinking. what’s she’s gna do. i’m shaking. a cool n controlled kind of rage can often be scarier than the explosive type n bradley does that well. grits my teeth n tugs on my collar....

very strong on the surface. hates being vulnerable. has this ingrained idea that crying is childish or rly any kind of emotional display within herself. 50% not taking things seriously 50% angry. tht’s how she comes across....... internally? whole different story. bt ppl don’t see that.

but yea they (tim) buy a little house that is nice n near a beach and it has a garden and rooms with big windows that let the sun in and it does have four different rooms, but they all end up either piling in one or two rooms and cuddling (and holding each other when things are rough)

Javier sighs heavily when he comes across the much larger man. Bill's got his back pressed against the wall, sat on the boathouse docks round the back of Shady Belle. It's dark, but the sounds of muffled crying perked Javiers ears up during his shift on guard duty. The moon provides more than enough light, its reflection glistening against the empty bottle of whiskey on the floor, and the just-opened one in Bills hand. Bill keeps his head down, but he overheard Javier approaching, quickly wiping his eyes to try and cover some of his mess up. "Again?" Javier asks. There's a mix of concern and sternness to his voice. Bill's quiet for a few moments before he lets out a "...yeah." Javier sighs again, propping his gun up against the boathouse walls before taking a seat next to Bill. Bill keeps his head down, the brim of his hat trying to cover his eyes, but the obvious trail of tears glisten over his cheeks. Javier tries his best not to stare, not wanting to make the other man feel uncomfortable. 

"You know, Bill..." Javier stops as he thinks about how to say this politely. "What you're doing, right now, is no better than what your father did," he tells him. "Yeah, I know," Bill sighs. Bill's always been worried that he'll turn out to be like his father, a raging alcoholic who drunk himself to death. It's a known fact that alcoholism can be inherited, and Bill's caught his case straight off his father. It seems when his father put the bottle down for the last time, Bill picked it up for the first time. Bill didn't even realize he was getting bad at first. He began drinking just to take the edge off, just to enjoy himself. But those excuses soon spiraled into coping mechanisms, and before Bill could even realize the path he was going down, it was too late. He was too far down it, drunk for weeks at a time, though the days always blur into one. "You're only hurting yourself here, Bill," Javier tells him. Bill finally lifts his head up so he can lean it back against the boathouse, his eyes flicking up to the sky. He looks exhausted, like he's been crying for hours, and he probably has. "I ain't sure how to stop," Bill admits, keeping his eyes away from Javiers. "I know it's hard. I've heard that you get the shakes and all that, but you gotta start somewhere, and just keep fighting it," Javier replies, his eyes looking over Bills frame, reading his body language. He only saw Bill like this a few days ago, in the same spot on the same shift with the same amount of liquor in his system. "People keep tellin' me that you just gotta drink less, but it ain't that easy. I'm... I'm hooked on this stuff, 'n' if I don't have it then, well. You seen me when I ain't on it," Bill sighs. "Yeah, you get aggressive," Javier corrects him. "Uh-huh," Bill nods. "Well..." Javier stops, trying to think of something, anything that'll help Bill. "How much have you drunk tonight?" Javier asks. "That bottle, 'n' just started this one," Bill says as he lifts the opened bottle in his hand. "Okay. So next time you wanna drink, you limit yourself to one bottle. And the time after that, you have a little less, and so on," Javier tells him, trying his best to set a plan. "What if I go over it?" Bill asks. "I'll slit your throat," Javier jokes. "Hah. I wish you'd do that anyway," Bill laughs, though Javier knows he's not joking. "Come on, Bill," he says as he taps his arm. "You don't mean that." "I do... sometimes," Bill shrugs. "Nah, come on. We'll get you off the stuff, then if you still feel like that, then maybe I'll slit your throat. You can see it as a mercy killing," Javier replies. "Would you do that?" Bill asks, his eyes meeting Javiers, and Javier hates that he can see a tint of hope in them. "You know I couldn't kill you, Bill. As much as I want to," Javier replies, quickly looking away. "I think if it came to it, I'd help you escape death, not push you into it," Javier says as he leans his head back against the boathouse. "Really?" Bill asks, genuinely shocked. He watches Javiers face for any signs of lying, but there is none. "Yeah... I don't know why. You're a real dumbass, you know that, but... I dunno," Javier says as he waves his hand in front of him. "Well, I wouldn't kill you neither," Bill tells him as he leans his head back also, the two of them looking out at the water. "That's good to know," Javier smiles. "Now, you gonna stop for tonight?" Javier asks. "Yeah, of course," Bill says as he surprisingly puts the cork back in the bottle. Javier puts his hand out and Bill freezes, staring at the shorter man's hand. His eyes trail up his arm to meet his gaze. "Hand it over. I'm taking it back to camp with me," Javier says. Bill goes to say something but stops, giving Javier the bottle instead. He's pouting a little, but at least somebody cares enough to take the liquor from his hands, rather than sitting back and do nothing. "You coming back with me?" Javier asks as he stands up, picking up his gun in his other hand. "Nah. I gonna stay here for a little longer," Bill tells him. "You too drunk to walk, Bill?" Javier smirks. "Yeah," Bill shrugs. He doesn't want to risk getting up and instantly stumbling off the dock, straight into the Aligator infested water. And as much as Javier wants to see that happen, he won't push for it. "Alright," Javier smiles, shaking his head. He goes to walk off but Bill calls out after him. "Hm?" Javier hums. "Erm... Thank you," Bill mumbles, rubbing the back of his neck, trying to keep his eyes off Javier. "Don't mention it," Javier tells him. He stands there a second longer, then finally turns and heads back to camp, hiding the bottle beside his own bedding so that if Bill wants it, he'll have to go through Javier first, and Bill knows by now not do to that.
