#personal #delete later #idk i just saw a post of the “alternate ending” comic on my dash and everyone praising it as an improvement and “fixing” the original #which i kinda resent #while tulli and i was taking my nephew to a book store we walked around the kids section and found the giving tree and we read through it #and i was so stricken by how profoundly sad it is. it's not a happy story #in the end both versions tell the exact same lesson. but one flat out tells you and the other makes you sit with a pit in your stomach #and work to find the answer #i dunno it's kids literature but kids literature is important. i don't wanna discredit anyone's bad memories with the book but also i think #sometimes it's ok to make kids a bit sad and upset with fiction.#tweet that goes “what if romeo and juliet didn't kill themselves and explained to the audience that family feuds are bad”#idk you can't seriously read the original book as an adult and say it's glorifying self-martyrdom #when the final drawing of the book is of an old tired man sitting on arotting stump with his hat fallen to the ground #again i don't wanna invalidate people's feelings if they enjoy the alt version i think it's really nice too. but the original has its #purpose too. imagine if at the end of the lorax they show that the boy did it and replanted the world happy ending #wait they did that in the movie shit #i dunno i just love somber children's literature. tulli and i are talking about moomin right now and how the series ends with the moomin #family just leaving. and nobody gets to say goodbye to them. their friends have to find ways to live with the emptiness they've left behin

#doodles #uhhh ill tag this oc even though its just my dogs lmao #oc #anyways #for the record about their personalities #dakotas very much a grumpy old lady. shes pretty quiet and when she has something to say its not very nice #vyse used to be a little menace!! but hes mellowed out as he got older #and orpheus is a menace!! he loves annoying people its his favorite hobby #he doesnt try to be destructive he just does things he thinks will be cool without thinking and causes massive damage in the process #hes the kid who went WANNA WATCH ME DO A BACKFLIP OFF THIS WALL??? without knowing how to do a backflip #hes like 15 and he was on his schools football team but then one summer everyone came back really buff and he did not #so he doesnt play football anymore #and hes covered in bandages from all the stupid things he does #anyways in terms of designs. i had a vision for dakota and orpheus and none for vyse #dakota specifically i thought should have a long braid and one of those fucked up canadian hats. and orpheus should look like-#-a teenage boy who cant dress nice!! also his hoodie says hellhound on the back #the neon shorts are DIRECTLY ripped from the ones i got from when i did wrestling. theyre so fucking comfy btw #dakota is mostly just cold and comfy. she REFUSES to dress lighter #vyse i didnt have any real ideas for again. i wanted to make him look a bit like his namesake vyse skiesofarcadia but i wasnt sure how #in the end he got that red scarf. which i think does make him look a bit more mischevious since so much of his face is hidden #anyways theyre like a fucked up little found family!! vyse would murder for dakota and orpheus. and dakota probably does too #probably. you can never be sure if she does actually like him #oh also this is mostly irrelevant. but vyse and dakota were meant to be like later 30s (dakotas maybe 38 and vyse is 34? ish?)#and also theyre russian. vyse and dakota i mean. idk if it comes across for vyse but one of my friends guessed it with dakota so!!#idk siberian huskies. theyre russian. россия or whatever

So we have three persons in deadly danger: dadga, tartah and coco. (since they seem to be both severely hurt, right?). What if the king couldn't save all three. I mean he may be powerful with healing magic but it must be terribly hard. Maybe too much for him. Maybe saving three persons from death the same day will be too hard. So there would be a choice. Well Coco will live, that's sure but if Tartah die because of the Brims Hats plan, i don't think that she'll forgive them or join them.

Hey Anon! Well, maybe I interpreted ch67 wrongly, but I was more under the impression that Coco was unconscious and not "hurt" (besides, like, maybe a concussion), meanwhile Tartar...

... is indeed suffering from a much more likely to be fatal wound.

As for Dagda, he keeps on "dying" but he's under a "time rewind" forbidden spell that, for now, works...

...so I'd say the current priority is Tartar++, then at a later time Dagda (from the moment the spell wears off), while Coco will most likely be fine without the King's intervention (to be confirmed).

Also, while I agree that Coco would never forgive the Brim Hats for hurting Tartar, she's also currently treading on very thin ice and anything happening to any of her friends (including Tartar, Coustas and, by proxy, Dagda) "because magic and medicine can't be mixed" might most likely tip her scale in favor of the Brim Hats.

All that being said, I'd also be lying if I said I believed Dagda had a real chance to make it through this arc. :// Sadly, the truth is, Dagda is a literal walking forbidden spell and the Brim Hats want to make themselves known to the King so, narratively speaking, Dagda meeting/being saved by the King is equal to a victory for the Brim Hats.

Of course, it could be what Sensei is after, since this arc is clearly challenging all the laws fueling The Secret as well as the forbidden link between magic and medicine, but Belda was quite clear as to what he fears about King Dean getting knowledge about magic and...

...as much as I truly enjoy the King's character and despise The Secret, I think he's right. For now, plot-wise, it wouldn't be a good idea at all for the King's family to figure out how magic works, because it would simply further the Brim Hats' cause and they're too chaotic to be the real answer (meanwhile the Prince learning the truth from, say, Tetia? highly more interesting and less prone to chaotic results :))).

TL;DR at this point, I don't fear for Tartar's or Coco's safety, whereas I really doubt Dagda will make it. And even if the King were to manage saving him, he's at a very high risk of getting his memory erased which will anger Coustas to no end, causing Tartar and Coco much grief. ://

At some point during the arc, I really though there could be a way for, say, Atuarto to become Ininia's, Coustas' and Tartar's teacher, since he offered to protect Galga from the Island of Lost Memories...

...but that probably won't happen for Coustas if Dagda can't escape death + the Witches' law for being a walking forbidden spell, like Eunie did.
