cannot wait to see the contrast btwn ichiban getting his shitty perm accidentally for the first time and getting it (presumably) on purpose in infinite wealth... you can tell he embraces the look now and he still cares about his hair being just right like he used to, except now "just right" means the big, fluffy, larger-than-life stye that all his yokohama friends know... that's the version of himself he likes best after all, and while the perm was a mistake the first time, it's now his mistake. it's ichiban's hair now.

if i’m being completely fair, s4’s animation isn’t always bad, like i've read interviews where the director was like yeah it’s a change but we’re trying to reflect changes in the manga’s art style (on top of the yknow… budget cuts), and that’s like fine that’s fair i can understand that. but i’m never going to let go of s1-3’s animation, maybe it’s just nostalgia but everyone looks better smoother more like themselves. sometimes i see a still from s4 and i’m just like, who are you??

i say the word 'timeless' a lot in a positive sense re: creative goals instead of 'universal experience' because mmm

this fic, like most things i make, but especially this fic, is a shameless hyper-specific set of experiences made for me (like where the fuck else are you going to see questionable hot ossan villain age gap romance with both of them fucked to hell with bad brain junk-one with even more hyper specific memory trauma-and peculiar kink wires crossed out the wazoo based halfway off a plot from a video game that can best be described lovingly as tasteless horny chess gone wild)

but i ache and aim to write timeless scenes in the sense of ... feeling tangible, there's an emotional hit of something to grasp whether it be by a twenty year old or a sixty year old and even if the actual experience isn't the ""same"" it brings that incandescent sense of longing and connection how infinitely human we all are in so many different ways.
