Day 150

Dirty South is becoming one of my favorite artists. From amazing production skills (City of Dreams, Phazing,Until the End, Rift, and others), to awesome DJ flexibility (I swear by this but listen to his Avalon's 4 hours 44 min set where he spans from classic house, electro, progressive house). This new song even made it on billboard (http://www.billboard.com/…/dirty-south-find-a-way-ft-rudy-e…).

I really like how Dirty South has a distinctive sound to his songs. All of his songs are progressive but the drops are not as straight up copy and paste as what some artists do. Listen to City of Dreams drop, and Phazing whole song (it actually reminds of Eric Prydz's style in which there isn't really a drop at all).

Find A Way just has that Dirty South style, and the drop doesn't have the bass line/kicks be the main melody; the main melody of the song still holds which drives that progressive feel.

10 Days of Moving Cross-Country: Is This Thing On?

Is this thing on?

It’s been awhile since I’ve written, I know. I give bloggers a lot of credit--it’s really hard to sit down and compose something comprehensible outside of my day job. When I have a few extra minutes, it’s just so much easier to chill the eff out.

Fact is, right now, that’s the last thing I am.

In 10 days, I’m gathering up the last of my belongings, my furry best friend, and getting on a plane to LA. I don’t have a return ticket.

It’s been crazy and wonderful and really, really, hard so far. I’ve shed a huge portion of my earthy possessions (I didn’t have a ton of them to begin with - I hate clutter). I’ve begun to tackle the huge emotional challenges of saying “see ya later” to my friends and family, as well as working through what it means to move in with your significant other out of choice and not financial (or some other) obligation. I’ve packed, and packed, and tied up loose ends, and even had to give the aforementioned furry friend a bath in my kitchen sink (that’s a story for another time). I’ve been lonely and angry and elated and grateful all in one day.

I’m pretty exhausted but still somehow stopped sleeping through the night a few days ago because this is the most excited I think I’ve ever been. At least, it’s up there with a lot of other lifetime highs, like graduating college and meeting my nieces for the first time. You know, those things in life that are simultaneously terrifying and beautiful--the really good stuff. 

At any rate, this is the beginning of a smaller challenge I’m posing to myself: write about the experience from now until the day I arrive. Sometimes It’ll be thoughtful and sometimes it’ll be a quick scribble--the later is much more difficult for someone who cares deeply about words. But, I’d like to be more reflective of the experience. I’d like to think that somehow this will make the harder times easier, the not-funny-at-the-time (like bathing a cat) hilarious in retrospect, and the over-the-moon-happy times more permanent. Here we go!
