A morning text message from @caseyeconomy shared with me the story of veteran actor, Dean Stockwell (‘Al’ from “Quantum Leap”, 2x Winner ‘Best Actor’ @cannes_filmfestival fame), now creates these dice sculptures. This development makes me slightly regret not voting for “The Dean Stockwell Fan Club”, which was on a shortlist of finalist names for our NYC theatre company, “Ad Hoc Economy” (formerly, ‘Aztec Economy’) we were considering during its formation in Spring 2008. Michael and I.....After 6 years and 14 American City Tours, some 90+ unique performances....still struggle to find a language to properly describe 'Butcher Holler Here We Come' as the uniquely hybridized, 'not your ma and pa's coal miner player. We textstormed earlier and I wrote this general 'morale' in the play. Also sought a triangular lens to help categorize a dimensional view that its description could be aligned at: 1. Sensorial, 2. Dissociative 3. Psychic or Psychological Thriller. We also enjoyed catchphrasing to Toxic Masculinity, Loretta Lynn-meets-David Lynch (Lynn-Meets-Lynch), Twin Peaks on Testosterone, Anne Pancake meets Sarah Kane, or Artaud Meets D'JPancake.

If anyone has wanted to 'peer' into the briefest glimpse of my 2-decade long artistic process, as a discipline of rigorously-refined technique, at the expense of great personal sacrifice, and diligent secrecy, I will share this 26-second exclusive clip, shot unbeknownst to me, from coursework earlier this year as I experiment with a protean form: a complicated scheme conceived by myself, yet against myself, as a diabolical game where two pieces of sandwich bread where intrinsically willed through my elusive internal logic to be, both at once, simultaneously dropped upon the ground, and yet, repetitively suspended, at the maximum distance - proximally and physiologically - capable, apart in the air. A few 'No Filter' test samples of my fav new website this month: deepdreamgenerator.com - and, yeah, I know it "feeds the programming experienced intelligence of the Google". I, for one, however, am not a naysayer to the technological virtual horizon - particularly for projects like these where we, the human agents, command the instrument (the brush, if ya will) to bring about the art/dream generation. Until a computer can write philosophical texts equivalent to, for instance, Wittgenstein, I'm not too worried about their computational cognition overwhelming the human capacity for inquiry. (Stumbled upon when searching for 'What Do Computers Dream' Popular Science article from a couple of yrs back).

Merleau-Ponty’s Camping Chair: this quasi-tribute performance art experiment was both a nod to Merleau-Ponty’s anecdote from ‘Phenomenology of Perception’ (1945) .“If I touch with my left ✋ my right ✋ while it touches an object, the right ✋ object is not the right ✋ touching: the first is an intertwining of bones, muscles and flesh bearing down on a point in space, the second traverses space as a 🚀 in order to discover the exterior object in its place” (PP 92).The true impetus of this little experiment -which consisted of about 5 minutes of my attempt to ‘disappear into the floor’ so that all the may exist is a disembodied arm (with hovering abilities, however weighty still) dragged, opened, sat, and fell in a red camper chair - was rooted from my experience reading about Bruno LaTour’s Actor Network Theory A.N.T. which emphasizes the primacy of material / lifeless forms equivalent with human beings, stripping humans from the sole proprietary agency in the 🌍. This led me along a sequence of thoughts about how living room lamps might appear just as high status as humans (if not more so) to a hypothetical alien visitor to 🌏. For a course, I also segued into reading Merleau-Ponty, and thus this final experiment. Coming from a theatrical discipline, my difficult was mainly in over-working it *(and myself). In my effort to try to integrate methods of performance art into my work, I failed to rehearse. In this instance, I should’ve rehearsed: I was at odds on how to ‘live in’ the truth of the imaginary experience since I had not allowed myself to explore its complexities and dimensions in performance.
