Fox’s 24 Legacy is a brand-new series with a new cast of characters and a fresh story. Like most fans, I can admit that I was sad when I learned that Jack Bauer a.k.a Kiefer Sutherland would not be returning for the new series.However,after following the news pertaining to the show, I became just as excited for this series.Also,there seems to be a number of references to the previous series so, that could mean that hero Jack Bauer could pop up at some point. Despite the backlash from fans refusing to embrace change, the show is doing well. A number of naysayers have tuned in and are embracing the new story.

Actor Cory Hawkins holds his own as lead character Eric Carter. Fans of AMC’s The Walking Dead know Hawkins for his role as Heath. Most people know him for his portrayal of Dr.Dre in the movie Straight Outta Compton. The cast is rounded out with stars such as Jimmy Smits (Sons of Anarchy and NYPD Blue),Miranda Otto (Homeland),Dan Bucatinsky (Scandal),Teddy Sears (The Flash) and Gerald McCraney (House of Cards/This Is Us/Jericho).Once you start watching you become sucked in from start to finish. When the clock stops beeping,you find yourself disappointed that the episode was only an hour.

I was lucky to attend the 24:Legacy panel at New York Comic Con,it was definitely an experience that I will never forget. Being a big fan of the series and watching a sneak peak of the pilot episode, made me feel nostalgic for the days when I was in college watching the first season on DVD.The positive reactions from a roomful of fans was clear that this series was going to be a good one. It serves to fill a void that was left after the conclusion of the original 24 series as well as 24 Live Another Day.

Only three episodes have aired so far.Right now Eric Carter is in a situation that mirrors the one that Jack Bauer found himself in during season one of 24.There are only a few differences between the original series and this new one. Eric Carter is a young black man recently discharged from the military. He and his wife are on the run and the only connection that he has with CTU (Counter Terrorist Unit) is a woman named Rebecca Ingram. She is the girlfriend of a possible presidential candidate. Eric has a brother named Isaac who serves to be the only person that he can truly trust to protect his wife Nicole. Isaac seems a bit sketchy kind of like Jack’s brother Graem.

I truly believe that despite the loss of Jack, this series is a good one. Jack Bauer could make an appearance in the series given the fact that Kiefer Sutherland is the executive producer, you never know.
