It's too hot to draw and I'm mad about it

Soooo, on and off for a while (since, like, pre-pandemic) I've felt pulled to veiling. It was subtle at first, starting with these headbands. I got the all black and the black and white "cloudburst" ones first. The cloudburst one my now ex-friend said made me look like a hippie, probably more-than-just-somewhat derisively. My person, on the other hand, says I look like an artist with paint splotches and I like that 😊When I saw this brand had an Ares one (sadly now discontinued, sorry), I felt like I had to get it because how often does a brand have something with your god on it these days? The green one came later and it's the one I was wearing the day I met my person.

Something about wearing these headbands felt... empowering, in a way, and protective too but I couldn't really put my finger on why nor did I feel the need to at the time. I simply liked them because I liked them and needed something to hold my hair back.

Recently I crocheted my own headscarf, inspired by learning that particular stitch for a different project. I posted it on my new crochet/crafting/(also other stuff not really sure what I'm doing with it yet) blog @magpieoffthehook . {Sidebar: Eventually I'm intending to post a tutorial on YouTube for making it but I want to test my pattern on a couple different yarns first.} When I was working on the scarf and when I put it on for the first time it felt like "This means something, doesn't it?"

Then I remembered "Oh, right, pagans and sensitives do veiling too sometimes, don't they?" and Hermes was like "Yeah, dude, did you forget?" He's encouraging me to go for it. Not for him but for myself, for how it makes me feel.

Now it's kind of taking on a life of its own. Found an infinity scarf my mom gave me forever ago while I was cleaning and it seems perfect for cooler weather or if I don't feel like tying anything. It's definitely more full coverage than a headband and I was a bit nervous to wear it in public but really I think to most people it just looks like a regular scarf. Now if I were wearing it out and about in, like, August or something that might be a different story (which I probably couldn't handle due to my heat sensitivity anyway). Biggest issue right now with this one would be my family at home asking probing questions. Also it definitely needs some bobby pins to stay in place if I want to leave any of my hair showing.

And a few days ago I found this silk scarf at Goodwill and the colors were too pretty to pass up. I haven't tried wearing it yet. It's a square and I've never worn anything like that before and I'm not sure how to tie it. Going to be looking at a few tutorials online to find some I like soon.

So I guess this is part of my life now. Can't say that I really expected it despite being pulled to it but it feels right for me.
