Back in the forum days people would invent wildest metrics for what makes a thing Good and the fan True.

This was toxic as hell, because even leaving aside the cultural prejudices, it made people care more about appearing special by saying that Right Things are Good and Popular Things are Bad.

But at least it didn't try to appear as if the thing does damage to society. You could just ignore someone bitching about a thing being "too casual" or "for kids", but when someone calls the thing out for being bigoted or unethical you need to first spend time figuring out do they mean it or are they just trying to find a way to feel superior for disliking it.

And it's not that "SJWs destroyed fandom" because those who think this way are exactly the same, except instead of saying "everything that I don't like is bigoted" they say "everything I don't like is woke". Zeitgeist, fucksakes.

(In fact my initial dislike of bringing real life issues into fandom was because of interactions with prototypes of this type of guy to whom everything was spreading degeneracy or something, so it's not even like we started it)

No, I don't think that we need to return to the Old Culture because it's the same structurally and just moved to much stronger accusations than "newfag" or "dumbfuck"

Hello this was a lovely message to see after my askbox has been dusty and empty for a while!

Firstly I’d like to say spam likes and reblogs are welcome. I created this blog so Skyfire gets more recognition as his own character bc I personally hate Starscream and have his tag filtered but despite that, skyfires tag is mostly just him and Starscream instead of him as his own and it really frustrated me. I wanted to make a storage essentially for Skyfire only arts and posts! I don’t mind other blogs having him as a theme either it shows the support for him as an individual character

Welcome to the fandom! I hope ppl treat you kindly. For me personally I learned of his existence through a friend and loved his design in pictures. I think he deserves more solo time.
