Working on something a bit different - an unfinished quilt of my mother’s from thirty-odd years ago! It’s mostly done, but her impatience shows in some of the stitching, so some careful reinforcement is required before I tackle the brand-new (to me) challenge of quilting it into a finished blanket! Working on a new design idea, this is my first test product. Need to change the cording and add a few extra lobster clips but I think I’m on track. The current cording was extremely difficult to sew backwards through the beading to secure it, so definitely needed to change that. Designing a stitch Marker with a progress keeper and lanyard with a removable attachment holder with extra st marker on it that way the lanyard can be used on its own. Think I’ll adapt the lanyard to be a glasses holder as well. Am now waiting on the new materials I’ve ordered to work on a second one. Thought I’d show you all even with a few design faults the mistakes could also be just my eye still healing from my surgery as I’m still healing with it. Happy with the colour work on my design and the Tibetan charms and spacers. Looking forward to making my second one and changing a few things. It will be suitable for crocheters & knitters. I call this one: UNRAVELLING. . Knit 10 rows, First step done! Marking them off, One by one. 16 more, This time knit-pearl. Shouldn't be too hard, Concentrate girl! . There you go, That's 5 rows passed You might be learning To knit at last! But wait, hold up, What's happened here? Brain from neutral, Into first gear. 3 rows ago, You dropped a stitch... Not just one, 5 or 6! . It's fine, just breathe, And count to 3. Just unpick to there, How hard can it be? Unpicking is easy, The rows just fly by. But then comes the part, Where I try not to cry. If this stitch is pearl, But this one is knit, How do you know, Where to insert the stick? . In the stress, You pull too tight, And now 3 loops, Are pulled out of sight! The dilemma: Can you retrieve them? How bad would it be, To just go on and leave them...? . Sighs of despair, Grinding of teeth, Swallowing down, The unfairness and grief. Then resignation, Preparing to pull. Unravelling, sighing, legs covered in wool. Until you reach, A bit that looks feasible. Here, perhaps, reinsert your needle. . Yes, it's worked! We're back to row 10.
