Can we have some Emy and Alex Scott headcanons?
dance parties. alex opens a toddler club for her to give her the experience with a live performance (from jess ofc) (this kinda vibe)
alex loves to get punditry on arsenal game days because she always gets to hang out with emy
emy always sees her on tv and sees her interviewing people in person and that's how alex ends up interviewing her
emy actually has quite good football analysis, she's overheard everyone and just kind of repeats what they say, she's a little sponge. she doesn't know what it means but it sounds good and she sounds smart
alex often watches the match with emy especially if emy's favourite people aren't on the bench and emy then runs over to her mums at half time and full time when alex is on camera
emy's favourite thing is helping with the soundcheck beforehand because she can just say silly things into a microphone

Hi lovely I love ur stuff 🩷 I have a little request/idea - obviously feel free to ignore it
I was thinking R has a really thick accent (English - either Scouse (Liverpool), Geordie (Newcastle) or West Country (Devon/Somerset/Farmer) or Aussie or something really thick like hard to understand from native speakers let alone anyone else) but R plays in Barca and has a crush on a Spanish player (Maybe Patri? maybe Ona? Maybe Alexia?) and is tryna talk to them more and maybe ask them out but they just get looked at funny and they walk off and she goes to Kiera and Lucy and is like what have I done? Do they all hate me? And [Crush] overheads them and goes round to their house after training and is like I really wanna get to know u, I think you’re really pretty etc but I cannot understand a word that comes out of ur mouth to the point where I am questioning whether it’s English

you never thought your accent would get you into trouble but you were entirely wrong. and we’re not talking about trouble like criminal, we’re talking romantically.
you’re from liverpool, your thick, scouse accent distinct in your dialect. at home in england, the accent was understood most of the time, with an occasional person asking for clarification about your words but you didn’t mind.
even some of your england teammates had to ask you to repeat yourself occasionally when you got overly excited or stressed, your accent proving to be the hardest to understand at those moments.
you often needed a translator for even native english speakers if you spoke too quickly, lucy and later grace helping out when people were truly confused.
when lucy and keira moved from manchester city, you moved with them, having played in the club for 2 years and desperately wanting a change. and so, when the contract arrived from barcelona for the three of you, you accepted it without a second thought.
you had supported barcelona in liga F, having a huge appreciation for the way the spanish players moved, the quick passes and the goals that came out of nowhere. you were excited to pick up those skills to adapt to your own play.
and through your extensive research, you grew a special appreciation for alexia. in your eyes, alexia was the definition of perfect, not only her football skills, but her as a whole.
you would watch her interviews and videos for ‘research purposes’, claiming it was to practise your spanish. and it was, until you zoned out hearing the gentle hum of alexia’s voice, getting distracted entirely but you weren’t complaining.
when you got caught making heart eyes at your phone during england camp, the teasing was so relentless it wasn’t even funny.
“our little (y/n) has a crush on la reina! (the queen)” lucy exclaims in the change room, you immediately turn off your phone and look up at her with an icy glare, only making her smile at you affectionately with a pinch to your cheek that you were quick to swat away.
“you’re not much older than me” you glare, “5 years is 5 years” she shrugs, moving away when you launched an empty bottle at her.
“go on, tell us about your crush” leah smiles, millie and rachel pretend to kiss each other while looking at you and you heat up in the cheeks.
“i’m only watching so i can pick up spanish” you defend, lucy laughs loudly, out of the three transfers, she was definitely the one who picked up the most spanish.
“excuse me, lucia, and everyone in here,” you scoff, “is it such a crime to watch a video of my future captain?” your accent was so heavy at this point, everyone cracked a little smile at you.
“so you were watching videos of alexia then?” leah smirks, you let out a frustrated groan, “leah, shut up man” everyone laughs, the teasing continuing until keira and alessia told everyone to stop.
during the whole of camp, it wasn’t uncommon you got caught looking at photos or videos of alexia, the teasing was so bad you thought you would explode.
when the time finally came for you to join barcelona, you were incredibly nervous. the fear of underperforming playing on your mind, only becoming worse at the thought of embarrassing yourself in front of a certain blonde you couldn’t take your mind off.
lucy and keira assured you everything would be fine, but you weren’t convinced, unsure of how you’d react when you finally saw alexia.
when you all walked to the change rooms, it was shocking how welcoming everyone was. hugs and kisses to the cheeks had you feeling so accepted amongst your new team.
and funnily enough, the last person to greet you was alexia, sending you a charming smile that had your stomach erupting with butterflies.
“(y/n), yes? bienvenida! (welcome)” alexia grins, her arms pulling you into a warm hug, her scent enveloping you and making you borderline dizzy.
“(y/n) is a big fan of you” lucy teases as alexia lets you slip from the hug after you mumble a quick hello. alexia gives a surprised smile, looking between a cheeky looking lucy and a sheepish looking you.
“you’re very good, too, I look forward to playing with you,” alexia’s hand moved to give your bicep a gentle squeeze and you swore your heart stopped, your cheeks were tinged with pink and you could barely formulate a sentence.
“yeah, i’m excited to play with ya” you breathe out, you move to your new cubby and get changed into the barcelona kit, feeling at home already even though it was your first day.
due to you busying yourself with avoiding alexia, you missed the way her gaze lingered on you as you changed, she was intrigued by you.
what you didn’t know was alexia had done her own forms of research. she had heard your name countless times in the media, a rising star in the making.
she respected the way you played, a midfielder who wasn’t afraid to take risks but also managed to avoid fouls frequently.
she wanted to get to know you as much as you wanted to get to know her.
weeks and months fly by and it was easy to say you felt comfortable amongst the team. your spanish was surprisingly getting better, being able to go through training without a translator most of the time.
the girls reciprocated you well, you’d go to team bonding nights and laugh and joke around with them. it was obvious to everyone except alexia that you were harbouring a crush on the captain.
the ways your eyes would follow her every move with pink cheeks honestly exposed yourself. and what made it harder was that alexia and you were growing closer each day.
one day you were chatting with mapi and ingrid, more like you getting teased while you begged them to stop before you were interrupted by a certain someone.
“do you want to be my partner?” alexia questions from behind you suddenly, making you choke on your own spit as she looked at you with a kind smile. “really?” you breathe out, she nods, nodding her head to the pitch for you to follow her.
you’d both been able to converse easily as the months went by, she’d have to ask you to slow down a couple of times when you both talked about something you had in common but it worked.
as you both trained together, you chatted and laughed, talking about random topics.
when you both got to shooting practice, alexia analysed your every move. she would give little nods of approval when you touched the ball, sending you an encouraging smile if you made eye contact, your heart was fluttering around her.
“you should put more weight into your hips when you kick” alexia corrects, you look at her questioningly, she huffs out a little laugh and comes to stand behind you.
her large hands place themselves on your hips and she turns them slightly to the front. her front was pressed against your back and you certainly weren’t breathing. she noticed you tense but chose to ignore it.
“focus here before you kick so it’s stronger” alexia says next to your ear, squeezing your hips gently before letting go of you. “try again, vamos! (let’s go)” she exclaims, you do as she says with her corrections and it was a much better result.
she smiles proudly, “buena niña! (good girl)” she laughs, coming up to you to squeeze your shoulders encouragingly, your cheeks were burning.
the entire team watched the interaction with big grins, ready to tease you for how sheepish you looked.
“gracias (thank you), ale” you scratch the back of your neck with an embarrassed smile, she shakes her head, “it’s nothing, thank me with a goal next game” she jokes, pinching your cheek teasingly before walking off to get some water.
you’re left there in shock, lucy and keira approaching with cheesy grins. “you’re in love” lucy coos, poking your shoulder teasingly while you shielded yourself in a hug from keira.
“i’m so fucking stupid, why can’t i be normal” you groan, keira laughs, her hand rubbing up and down your back. “you’re just shy, which is weird to see because you’re the complete opposite” she laughs, you pull back to throw her a glare.
“it’s cute” lucy chuckles, “i can’t wait to tell everyone about the development” she grins, her and keira share a hearty laugh seeing your face go pale, while you attempted not to scream.
“don’t you fucking dare” you grit out, “i won’t” lucy winks, unfortunately she did and by the time training was over, your phone was blowing up with text messages talking about the interaction.
you looked at lucy with a stone cold glare while she blew you a kiss, alexia watched how angry you were, she could practically feel it radiating off you on the other side of the change room.
“estás bien? (are you okay)” alexia walks up to you, holding a cold drink out to you. you take it after a moment of hesitation, “uh, yeah, sí” you smile, “lucia is annoying you?” alexia grins, looking over at lucy to see her and keira whispering while looking at you. “yes, she’s very annoying” you grumble, your eyebrows furrowing.
alexia smiles fondly at you, her hand moving to your face, her thumb smoothing out the crease between your eyebrows. “wrinkles” she tutts, your breath caught in the back of your throat as you looked up at her.
“are you coming tonight?” she says like she didn’t just make you flatline. she’s talking about a team bonding session at her house. “yeah, i think so” you smile at her, “think or know?” she teases, was she flirting with you?
“know, i’ll be there” you mock, she nods with a pleased expression, “hasta luego, lindura (see you later, cutie)” she winks, moving to grab her bag from her cubby and leave, making sure to look back at you another time with a soft smile before walking out.
you get pulled out of your trance once you hear your phone blowing up again, checking it to see lucy had recorded you watching alexia leave. you throw your head back in frustration but chose to avoid letting the older girl feel your wrath, you were still on a buzz from the thought of alexia flirting with you.
when you arrived at alexia’s house, you brought her a bottle of wine with a sheepish grin. when she opened the door for you, she pulled you into the warmest hug, both of you fitting together like a puzzle.
“finalmente! (finally) i was waiting for you!” she grins as she pulls away, taking the wine out of your hands and grabbing one of yours to drag you into the living room where everyone was.
her hand was so warm against yours, soft against your skin and you really didn’t want her to let go. “you look beautiful” alexia smiles before she ushers you to sit down, you barely had the time to tell her how breathtaking she looked, dressed casually but still looking like she could be on the front of a magazine.
you sit next to mapi and she immediately bombards you with questions, “have you kissed yet?” she questions, you slap her knee, “ingrid, your girlfriend is a bully” you huff, ingrid laughs, nodding along with you with an apologetic smile.
everyone was watching a movie while eating, alexia sitting beside you, the two of you would chat back and forth with small giggles and smiles shared between you.
by the time the night was ending, alexia’s arm was resting behind you on the couch, basically over your shoulder while you were in your own little bubble.
when you left that night, you couldn’t stop thinking about all the interactions you had with the catalan, you needed to do something about it. fast.
on a match day for barcelona, you decided it was time for you to tell her about your feelings. it was clear you were flirting with each other. confirmed during the game.
in the second half, you managed to get a goal, using the technique alexia had taught you a couple of days prior.
she was the first one to you after, the loud roar of the crowd drowned out when you felt alexia’s strong arms wrapping around your waist.
you both smiled so brightly as she congratulated you, placing you on the ground, giving you an affectionate kiss on the forehead and squeezing your shoulders. this told you everything. it wasn’t just her being friendly, it was alexia making a move.
at the end of the match, the two of you lingered in the middle of the pitch, you were fidgeting so much alexia was worried.
“(y/n)?” she dips her head to make eye contact with you, “estás bien? (are you okay)” you nod, opening your mouth to speak but nothing came out. “take a deep breath” she smiles, a hand on your shoulder offering you comfort but also stressing you out.
“ale” you start, she nods with an encouraging smile, “i really fancy ya, ale, i’ve been wantin’ to tell ya for a while” you blurt out, alexia’s eyebrows furrow, she looks a little confused.
the silence was loud, why hasn’t she said anything back. if this was her rejection, it hurt more than anything she could have verbalised.
“you know what, forget i said anythin’” you run off before she could say anything. “qué? (what)” she was about to ask you to repeat yourself, one - because you were speaking too fast, two - she didn’t know what fancy meant.
you heard her call out for you but you ran into the change room, knowing keira and lucy were in there. “keira!” you yell, “fucking check my pulse!” you shove your arm in her face and she looks at you in shock. only a couple of people were inside, and the ones that were were shocked at how you tumbled into the room.
“jesus, your heart is going so fast” keira says as she presses her fingers to the inside of your wrist. “fuck, why couldn’t you tell me i’m dead and this is a nightmare” you groan, your hands running over your face frustratingly.
“what’s wrong with you?” lucy says as she walks out of the shower to see you in absolute shambles. “everything!” you explain each and every detail and they look at you sympathetically, understanding now why you were so upset.
what you didn’t know was alexia was outside, ear pressed to the door as she heard you explain that you were trying to confess. she feels her stomach tighten, cursing herself for not understanding what you were saying.
“whatever, i’m going home, don’t follow me” you grit, tears pooling at your waterline as you rush out. alexia had moved out of eyeline when she heard you, quickly going into the change room and drilling lucy and keira for your address that they happily gave her with sly grins. happy to know it was all a misunderstanding.
that afternoon, you hastily wiped your tears away thinking about alexia. you had misunderstood her intentions clearly, you were disappointed with yourself.
you heard the banging from the front door and groaned, knowing your fellow england teammates were probably on the other side with ice cream and apologetic smiles.
“i told you both not to follow me-” you huff, the door opening to see alexia standing there, a bouquet of bright flowers in hand. “hola (hello)” she smiles, “what are you doing here?” you ask softly, “can i come in?” you nod, moving back a little so she could step inside. she hands you the flowers and you take them with a confused expression.
what type of rejection was this?
“i heard you speaking to lucy and keira before” she starts nervously, both of you walking to the kitchen so you could put the flowers in water, they were beautiful.
“it’s fine if you don’t feel the same” you shrink into yourself, brushing the petals of one of the flowers between your fingers.
“hermosa (beautiful)” she calls out, moving around your counter to stand directly in front of you. “me gustas mucho, y quiero estar contigo (i like you a lot, i want to be with you)” she says earnestly, speaking in her mother tongue and hoping you understood because she was speaking from the heart.
you freeze, each and every word quickly translated in your head. “amor (love), you’re very beautiful and nice but you speak very fast, i did not understand a word you said before” she laughs, you can’t help but laugh too, shaking your head at how fast you fled the situation.
“i’m sorry, ale” you grin, “don’t be” she dismisses, tucking a loose strand of hair behind your ear, relishing in the blush she just produced on your cheeks.
“me gustas mucho (i like you a lot), alexia” you smile, she gives you a dazzling expression, appreciating how you spoke her mother tongue to her so she really understood this time. “muy bien, preciosa! (very good, precious)” she coos affectionately, her hand cradling your cheek as she directed your eyes to hers.
“we will teach each other, sí?” she grins cheekily, you hum along with her words, “sí”.
she pulls you closer to place a sweet kiss on your lips, your stomach lurching at how soft they were against yours.
you both smile into it as she drew you closer, your arms wrapping around her neck while her free hand came to rest on the small of your back to press you against her.
she pulls away, not without pressing a few more kisses to your lips through the giggles and the small chatter between the two of you.
when you both came to training the next day hand in hand, sighs of relief were heard from everyone. lucy whipped out her phone as quickly as she could and sent pictures to the england group chat, your phone blowing up more than ever.
now that the team saw you interact, the teasing somehow got worse every time alexia would kiss you, or even hold your hand.
the pining drove everyone insane but the loved up versions of the two of you were insufferable. you were attached at the hip, just how you and alexia wanted.

I Love you
This is my first fic 🙈. I’ve been a Sam Fender fan for years but never had the confidence to post anything myself. I’m a massive fan of lots of writers on here @17-goingunder @theborders @the-leveller @jhangelface0523 (and many more) and they’ve all inspired me to try myself. I hope you enjoy!!
Friends to Lovers
Y/n was a shy girl. Never one to be outspoken in a group setting and certainly not one to be confident in her own skin. She struggled with her body image and with socialising with people she didn’t know too well. However, despite these so called ‘flaws’, she was kind. Her eyes had a warmth to them and when you looked into them, you felt at home. Without knowing, she had a capability to make people feel safe and good.
Sam had secretly admired her for years. She was in the same year as him in school and after Sixth Form Y/N had cemented herself well into their friendship group. Sam thought she was the prettiest girl out there. He loved how much SHE loved, how she constantly put others before herself and how her heart was just the purest. The crease between her eyebrows when she laughed and the twinkle in her eyes when she was faced with cute cat videos were little quirks he was enamoured by.
However, Y/n was far too self conscious to let herself believe anyone like Sam would be interested in her. She had been there through all his previous girlfriends, secretly earning to be them, wishing she could be the one being comforted by Sam when drunk, getting songs written about her or better still, getting random kisses and hugs from him just because he could. But she never verbalised these desires and so Sam never felt he was in the position to express to her how much he loved her. It was a vicious cycle and it was inevitable to catch up on them.
——————————————————————————
“Y/n!!”
Urgh. There it was. That sickly sweet voice Y/n had grew to hate so much.
Leah was Sam’s newest girlfriend. He’d met her a couple months back on a night out in Newcastle and they’d been going out for about 4 months. There was nothing wrong about her. She seemed sweet and made Sam happy, but that’s what made Y/n secretly resent her more.
“We were just talking about you!”
“All good things I hope” Y/n joked in jest.
“Is that a new top you’re wearing?”, the blonde girl asked.
“Erm no it isn’t actually, it was me Mams in the 90s, she let me borrow it.”
“Aw, cute”, a slight trace of a patronising tone in her voice.
“Sam was just saying how you’ve finally found a new job. Took you long enough! Anyone would think you’ve just been living off this lots money!!”
Woah. You could tell she was drunk, but she’d never been this confrontational with you before.
“LEAH.” Sam snapped. He looked mortified.
Y/n’s cheeks had flushed bright red and she began to recoil in on herself.
“Leah, what the fuck?” Dean said.
You were so confused, where had all this come from? Sure, you and Leah were never the best of friends but you also were never enemies.
“Oh calm down would yous, it was only a joke!” she declared.
But you didn’t find it funny, and Sam could tell. You were very self conscious about the fact all your friends now had money and you were still struggling to get ends to meet. You never asked anyone for help financially, but Sam new you struggled and would always be conscious never to make you feel uncomfortable because of it.
“Leah, where did that come from? You know Y/n has never taken advantage of any of us!”, the geordie blonde boy seethed.
“Oh give over, none of you can take a joke. I’m going to the toilet.”
Y/n wanted the ground to swallow her up. She hated attention, and currently everyone was staring at her. All she could think about was the quickest route to leave.
“Y/n Im so sorry I don’t know what’s gotten into her.”, Sam apologised. The look of guilt written all across his face.
“Don’t be daft,” Y/n stated, “I’m sure she meant nothing by it.”
Sam wasn’t so sure though. He’d had constant arguments in last few weeks with Leah about Y/n. Leah felt threatened by her and Sam’s relationship, and so she expressed that by declaring to Sam she didn’t like Y/n a few weeks back. She also felt like Sam cared more for Y/n then her. To make matters worst, Sam couldn’t console her on this. He loved Y/n and if it came to it, he’d pick her, every time.
——————————————————————————
An hour later and Y/n was outside the pub having a cig to calm her nerves. She was still so embarrassed from earlier but she didn’t make a fuss, just sat with her friends and pretended nothing had happened. Inside it had ruined her though, she needed a few minutes outside to just compose herself before she faced Leah again.
“May a join you?” a familiar voice filled her ears.
Subconsciously, a smile plastered its self across Y/n’s face and her rapidly beating heart began to slow. Sam was the only person who made her feel like this.
She quickly nodded her head and he took a seat next to her, his scent drowning out everything else. He was just perfect.
For a couple moments they sat in silence, just enjoying one another’s company. They were the type of friends who could do this and it wouldn’t be awkward. The warmth radiating off him was addictive and Y/n couldn’t resit her desire to be closer, deciding to rest her tired head upon his shoulder.
She was slowing starting to feel more calm and like herself until a sob could be heard from the blonde man sitting next to her.
Y/n’s head whipped round and she felt her heart shatter from the sight in front of her. His eyes looked desperate for some comfort and his body was pitifully shaking. She couldn’t take it, seeing the one person she truly loved being so broken and vulnerable.
“Oh Sammy. Come here”
He didn’t need to be told twice. His head soon buried itself into her neck and he clung onto her like his life depended on it.
Y/n had never seen him like this before. So heartbroken and inconsolable. It was torturous. His sobs were harsh and he was struggling for breath, his salty tears were soaking themselves into Y/n’s top and his hands had become white from how hard he was clinging onto his girl.
“Oh my darling, please talk to me. Tell me what you need.” Y/n whispered comfortingly.
“I need you.” was all the man said.
Y/n’s eyes began to tear up at his confession and subsequently she began to rock him side to side, whispering sweet nothings into his ear.
“Baby tell me what’s the matter, please. I hate seeing you like this and not knowing how to help you.”
“Erm..” Sam started, “Well…” he was struggling and Y/n could tell. She placed a sweet kiss on his cheek, a sign telling him to keep going, she was there for him.
“I hate how Leah treated you earlier and I hate how she clearly made you feel. You’re the best person in my life and I’ll be damned if I let anyone, especially a girlfriend, treat my best friend anything less than the princess she is.”
Y/n was speechless. Did he really care for her that much?
“Truth be told, I’ve always admired you. Thought you were the kindest, cleverest, prettiest girl I knew and I think Leah knew that deep down. But I’ve been too scared to do anything about it. I always thought you’d never feel that way about me so I’d get myself another girl who wasn’t half as interesting as you, but would be interested in me.”
What the hell was going on?! Surely Sam didn’t feel the same way about Y/n as she did for him.
“Anyway I’m rambling. The point is, I’ve just broken up with Leah.”
WHAT.
“I know it’s probably a shitty thing to do it so quickly and in such a public place but I couldn’t take it anymore. She didn’t make me happy and I didn’t really want her like I wanted you.” his voice noticeably got quieter at the end of his little speech, but Y/n heard loud and clear.
“And I’m not expecting you to feel the same way or to even say anything back to me, I just want you to know that’s it’s always been you. It always has been, and always will be.”
It was music to Y/n’s ears. That’s all she’d ever wanted to hear, right from the first day she saw him she was captivated and she knew she’d never fall out of his spell. Everything about him was perfect; his goofy smile, sensitive nature, immature humour and incredible musical talent. Y/n was in awe of him and always wished she could be good enough for him. Little had she known though, it was exactly Y/n’s humble and kind nature that had made Sam equally fall for her.
“Sam… i don’t know what to say” Y/n’s voice trembled. And before she could wipe the tears that began to pour down her face, Sam was wiping them away with the pads of his thumbs, kissing away sweetly at the tears on her cheek.
“I’ve always wanted you.”
Now it was Sam’s turn to be stunned.
“From the moment I saw you I knew I’d never love anyone the way I loved you. You were just perfect and so I never let myself believe I could ever have you because, how could someone so good love someone like me.” Y/n confessed.
“Oh Y/n, you have no idea what you mean to me. You are the best person I know and I promise, if you let me, I’ll spend the rest of my life making you see yourself the way I see you.”
“Fuck, you have no idea how much I want that, Sammy.” You spoke through tears of joy.
And before Y/n could think another thought, his forehead rested upon hers and he bumped his nose against her little button one, a silent question of consent asking her if he could get closer. She smiled and nodded gently.
Suddenly his sweet lips began to press against hers. He started slowly and softly, testing the waters, before the pair let there passion take over and they kissed each other like they’d been so desperate to do since the very first day. Tears were spilling out both their eyes, it was just perfect. All she could feel was him, and all he could feel was her and that was all they wanted for the rest of their lives.
——————————————————————— ——
Arghhh. I hope this was ok?! Please let me know your feedback!!

Anthony's Stupid Daily Blog (706): Wed 21st Feb 2024
Watched a documentary about American diners which I’ve always had an affinity for. I normally hate  sitting in restaurants when there’s music blaring but the kind of music typically piping over the speaker systems in diners is rockabilly and rock n roll which I am a fan of so I wouldn’t be complaining about the music spoiling my vibe. Also I don’t think diners normally sell beer so I wouldn’t have to worry about drunk cunts making loads of noise and putting me off my veggie burger and blueberry pancakes. I can see why the specific kind of diner with the light coloured booths, the jukebox and the black and white checkered floors more or less died out because they were closely associated with the rock / rockabilly era. When that kind of music fell out of fashion the diners would have also felt outdated and I don’t think that trying to keep up with the times by starting to play newer music like disco or metal would have fit the decor. If I was a billionaire I would set up my own American style diner and spend all my time in my own booth reading and listening to my favourite rockin’ tunes. I’d let my friends and family come in obviously but I would also hire a few MMA fighters to work the door and if I saw anyone I thought was going to spoil the atmosphere I’d shake my head and have Knuckles and Scarface chuck them in a dumpster out back with the rest of the scum.
Read more of The Stranger Diaries. The first part of from the perspective of Clare the teacher who was a friend of the murdered woman. Part two now focuses on Detective Leah who is investigating the murder and Part Three is told from the point of view of Georgie, one of the murdered teachers students who’s boyfriend reveals he went to see her on the night she died. I’m happy to report that I’m enjoying this a lot and I’m glad that there is going to be at least one more book added to the “must read” section of the Edgar challenge before it’s over. I hope the remaining three books are as engaging.
I set off in a taxi to the town for my train to Newcastle for a chiro appointment. The driver I got was a big conspiracy theory fan and told me all about how the vaccine was responsible for the rise in autism while I smiled politely and tried to resist the urge to put my headphones in and start blasting some Slayer to try and drown out the bollocks. What makes me laugh most about conspiracy theorists is whenever they’re relating information they’ve been given by another believer in the theory they subscribe to they always punctuate it with “this guys backing up everything he’s saying with facts”. I always think “how do you know that these things your sources are saying are facts? Have you looked into it yourself to see if it’s actually factual? More importantly have you checked more than one source to check if it’s a fact?”. Anywho I thanked him as I got out and when I was about to go catch my train I turned around to give him a wave he had gone. Some might say that he drove off for his next job but I reckon the global media and the pharmaceutical companies probably done him in for speaking the truth. I told the chiropractor that my neck was feeling much much better since I started adding the toe touch exercises to my regimen and now there was only a tiny bit of pinching in my left shoulder blade which she said was a good sign and that we’re probably safe to start scheduling these appointments once every three weeks.
Fuck me today was a long day. But that’s a good thing

okay but... but please go on about twilight but in the uk
okay I’m Irish not British so I might not be the most qualified person for this but I think their 800-year occupation of us dominance in our pop culture/tv has educated me enough so:
- Bella is an English Northerner. “Ah nuuh woh ya ahhr.” “Say it, out loud.” “Vampiyah!”
- Edward is even posher than Rob Pattinson and his accent makes him seem like even more of a knob than his know-it-all vampirism so long story short he gets bullied every school they put him in apart from hoity toity proivate schools where everyone is as equally knobby
- If Alaska is the Scottish Highlands, the Denalis are Scottish. If the Denalis are Scottish, they dogwalk Edward rather than put up with his bullshit
- Similarly, if posh boy Eddie treated northerner Bella the way real Edward treats real Bella at the start of the series, she would’ve just told him to piss off and called it a day
- Scot Kate is an Indyref campaigner and that’s why Irishman Garrett fell head over heels so quickly
- As established, the Volturi are the Voltories. Ancient, colonial, conservative, power-trippy, have weird laughs??? It all checks out
- Rosalie is a Chelsea girl let’s be real
- Emmett is a working-class Irish city kid (Rose found him when the Cullens were visiting Siobhán and co) but I haven’t decided if he’s from Dublin or Cork yet. The McCart(h)y surname hails from and is common in Cork buttt I feel like a thick Dublin accent would suit Emmett’s persona and be a funny contradiction to Rose’s posh English vibe
- Chelsea girl Rose: “Is she evuhn Italiuhn?”
Dub Emmett: “Her name’s bleedin’ Belleh!”
- Esme is from Cardiff and Londoner Carlisle learned Welsh for her :))))
- Alice is an Essex hun (but she’s not like other Essex huns™️) because that would be fucking hilarious. If you think I’m wrong please just visualise the Meet the Cullens/Italiano scene where Edward is all, “Alice, what are you doing–” and picture Alice responding “Don’t worry babe, we’re gonna be best friends, ain’t wehhhy? I’ve uwready seen ih!”
- Alice travels to Blackpool sometimes and sets up a fortune teller tent on the pier just for shits and giggles
- Jasper is from Newcastle so instead of saying “pleasure to meet you” or whatever to Bella he just says “yareeet”
- Geordie Jasper anytime he feels Rose ready to set Edward on fire: “Rose is gooin pyuah akka!”
- The wolf pack are Northern Irish Catholics
- Derryman Jacob finding out about Bella and Edward’s honeymoon plans: “Is thess a fuckin jehyoke???? Catch yerselves awn!!!!”
- Paul first angrily turned into a wolf when someone asked him to wear a poppy, while resident Derry Girl Leah only refers to Edward as the “wee English fella”
- SCOUSE CHARLIE SCOUSE CHARLIE SCOUSE CHARLIE. He and Billy watch LFC matches together and he definitely has a “you’ll never walk alone” sticker on his car
- This side of the Atlantic Edward isn’t insulted with “jackass”/“moron”/“idiot” etc but instead his siblings call him any one of these on a recurring basis: prick, prat, twat, twit, dickhead, knobhead, bellend, git, wanker, tosser, eejit (Emmett), gobshite (mostly Emmett)
- Also this side of the Atlantic has a more obvious drinking culture so let’s pretend vamps can get drunk depending on how much blood they drink, in which case you’ll hear Jasper yelling “LET’S GET MORTAL” every hunting trip or Emmett bragging about how “locked”/“legless”/“hammered”/“ossified” he was after 12 bears
- Everyone curses a lot more obviously
- It’s less white than American Twilight so visualise the above characters any way u want!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- On a less funny but v wholesome note, the reason I put the wolf pack as Northern Irish Catholics is bc of the colonial parallels, wolves having a prominent role in Irish mythology, and the historical kinship between Native Americans and Irish people! During Ireland’s Great Famine of the 1840s, the Choctaw Nation sent $170 (a huge sum of money equivalent to a couple of thousand USD today) to families who starved under the rule of a British government that refused to help. The Choctaw people did this despite living in poverty themselves as a result of the Trail of Tears in a display of solidarity between colonised people thousands of miles away from each other. This year, Irish people tried to carry on a similar sentiment by donating to the Navajo & Hopi Covid-19 Relief Fund while these Nations were ignored by the Trump Administration. The Navajo Nation attorney-general estimates approximately $3 million USD of the fund came from donors living in Ireland, so the historical bond between Native Americans and their Irish friends is still very much alive 🥺

NY / Rose Tint
Tumblr media
Saskia Fleishman, Ascending Moon (Crescent Beach), 2020, acrylic and sand on canvas, 24 x 24 in.
Rose Tint curated by Kate Mothes August 14 – September 19, 2021
Tiger Strikes Asteroid New York and Young Space are pleased to present Rose Tint, a five-person exhibition curated by Kate Mothes, featuring the work of Bianca Fields, Esther Ruiz, Leah Guadagnoli, Mark Joshua Epstein, and Saskia Fleishman. There is a psychological phenomenon called rosy retrospection, in which people judge the past in a disproportionately positive light than they judge the present. In the predilection to overlook the challenges of the past, something sinister lurks beneath the enthralling surface of nostalgia, as one can wrap themselves up in it and yet find it more and more difficult to leave it. It’s easy to forget the conflicts and challenges of bygone eras when what we face now feels more difficult than ever before. How will this time be remembered? It seems impossible that we might view it as “simpler” after a few decades have passed, and yet we probably will find a way. The present is always too immediate to place in context. Another psychological phenomenon called the fading affect bias suggests that people have much stronger emotional reactions to positive memories than to negative ones. May we always live in interesting times.
Bianca Fields (b. 1995) Bianca Fields (b. Cleveland, OH, 1995) is a visual artist based in Kansas City, MO. Fields received her BFA from the Cleveland Institute of Art, Cleveland, OH (2019) in Painting. Field's work introduces a manifestation of her perceived imagination and material sensibilities within the paint itself; inviting animals and the world of cartoons along for a frenzied ride of happiness and fear. Her paintings are what she considers her aesthetic, guttural response to pop cultural phenomena. Amplifying the screams and yelps from her beloved exotic creatures, such as the mandrill monkey, she often crowds her compositions seeking to create visual noise and tension within her paintings. A selection of recent exhibitions includes shows with Dragon Crab and Turtle (Kansas City, MO and Bologna, IT), Steve Turner Contemporary (Los Angeles, CA), Ruttkowski;68 (Paris, France), and Bellevue Art Museum (Seattle, WA).

Esther Ruiz (b. 1986) uses a minimalist vocabulary to create relics of imagined experiences. Of her creative process, she says: ”The imagery I work with is born out of exploring and researching fictional places imagined in my mind... Ultimately, my work exists as an effort to visually explain an emotional state of mind with mathematical acuteness.” She begins with a collection of emotions, memories, impressions of light, and sounds, then translates them into an abstract geometric aesthetic. Selected recent exhibitions include Torrance Art Museum (Torrance, CA), Cleo Gallery (Savannah, GA), Art in Buildings (NY, NY), De Novo Gallery (Washington, DC), Ladies’ Room LA (Los Angeles, CA), Reynolds Gallery (Richmond, VA), Collar Works (Troy, NY), Jacob’s West for SPRING/BREAK (Los Angeles, CA), and Field Projects (NY, NY).

Leah Guadagnoli (b. 1989) lives and works between Brooklyn, NY and the Hudson Valley and is represented by Hollis Taggart in NYC. Her work incorporates elements of sculpture, painting, graphic design, and architecture into whimsical, idiosyncratic works that defy easy classification. Often drawing on the aesthetics of her Midwestern upbringing, the artist appropriates designs and patterns from the 80s’ and 90s’ -- often considered kitschy -- presenting them in fresh and dynamic ways. She received her BFA in Painting and Art History at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and her MFA in Visual Arts at the Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University. Recent solo exhibitions include Asya Geisberg Gallery (New York, NY), Victori + Mo (Brooklyn, NY), Sadie Halie Projects (Minneapolis, MN), and 247365 (New York, NY). Recent group exhibitions include Cooke Latham Gallery (London, England), Hesse Flatow (New York, NY), Allouche Benias Gallery (Athens, Greece), Hollis Taggart Contemporary (New York, NY), Freight + Volume (New York, NY), Hashimoto Contemporary (San Francisco, CA), Ortega y Gasset (Brooklyn, NY), and White Columns (New York, NY). Her work has been reviewed by The New York Times, Hyperallergic, Art F City, Cultured Magazine, and Architectural Digest, among others. Guadagnoli has an upcoming solo exhibition at Hollis Taggart this November.

Mark Joshua Epstein (b. 1979) received an MFA from the Slade School of Fine Arts, University College London, and a BFA from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts Boston. Selected solo or 2-person shows include SPRING/BREAK Art Show (NY, NY), Handwerker Gallery, Ithaca College (Ithaca, NY), NARS Foundation Project Space (Brooklyn, NY), Caustic Coastal (Salford, England), and Vane Gallery (Newcastle, England). Throughout the past several months, he has reconnected to a vital focus on pure pattern as an expression of entering into a new environment and settling into its pace and local culture. Influenced by geometric abstraction, Op Art, and Pattern and Decoration Movement of the mid-1970s and early 1980s, Epstein’s exuberant patterns explore queer ornament and geometric excess in their hugged edges and dancing colors. The details are precise yet intimate, highlighting the intricacy of Epstein’s process of patternmaking that underscores the presence of the artist’s hand. He is currently based in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Saskia Fleishman (b. 1995) graduated Rhode Island School of Design in 2017 with a B.F.A. in painting. In her recent paintings, landscape photographs are recomposed as geometric abstractions derived from the color studies in Josef Albers' ”The Interaction Of Color.” This process involves tilting the image, flipping the horizon line, cutting out a part of the landscape, or creating colored transparencies with chiffon. These gestures serve to suggest an alternative way of thinking and identifying our memories embedded within landscapes, where nothing is absolute, and everything is relative. The paintings pair flat and smooth masked airbrushed gradients with textural materials such as sand and burlap.
Fleishman has been an artist in residence at Jentel Artist Residency, Vermont Studio Center, Wassaic Project, PADA Studios, ChaNorth and Trestle Studios, and a curator in residence at Otis College of Art and Design. Saskia’s work has been exhibited in a recent solo exhibition at Silo 6776 in New Hope, PA, and in group exhibitions across the United States, and in Rome and Portugal. Fleishman is based in Philadelphia, PA.

The Escape is on...
Rounding up a week in Hollyoaks (11th-15th November 2019)
It was a big week for Ste as he finally took his first steps towards leaving the far right group. At the end of last week, we saw Ste throw a note begging for help over the Maalik’s fence. The note was found by Azim, who went out to speak to Ste through the fence and agreed to try and help him. After some persuading, Azim was able to get Leela and Peri on board and, together, they arranged to meet with Ste in The Dog car park to take him to speak to someone from Prevent. As Jonny and Stuart left the house to meet with a rival gang, Ste looked to have found a way to escape. However, young Sid had been left in charge, and was under strict instructions not to let Ste out of his sight. Luckily for Ste, Sid had arranged a date with Juliet and it didn’t take Ste much time at all to convince the youngster that he would be fine on his own. Upon Sid’s departure, Ste prepared to leave, however, he was dismayed to discover that he was locked in. However, he was able to escape and made his way to The Dog, where he was spotted by Sid getting into a car with Leela and Peri...
Tumblr media
Ste was taken to speak with a ‘Prevent’ officer and it was arranged that he would leave the village for Newcastle. However, this couldn’t happen right away, and in the meantime, Ste was instructed to return home and carry on as ‘normal’ with Stuart and Jonny. Ste was much happier as he returned home, however, his secret was discovered when Juliet turned up at the house and Stuart and Jonny realised that Ste had been out. Furious that Sid had disobeyed him, Stuart punched his son before turning on Ste and demanding to know where he had been. Despite initially insisting that he’d stayed indoors, Ste eventually told Stuart and Jonny that Leela had taken him to Mike’s to see Leah and Lucas. The pair appeared to be satisfied with Ste’s excuse and were soon heading off again to meet with the rival gang, with Stuart taking a knife from the kitchen drawer on his way. Later, Peri was shocked when a seriously injured man was brought into the hospital after a gang fight in town, and Johnny later arrived back home also having been stabbed. With Stuart insisting that Jonny refrain from getting medical attention for his wound, Jonny told Ste that he wanted out...
Tumblr media
The following day, Jonny began pressing Ste for information about the escape he knew he was planning, but Ste refused to be drawn in and insisted that there was no escape plan. However, Jonny continued to push Ste and he eventually confessed that he was off to Newcastle and that Jonny could come with him. Not only that, but Ste admitted that he’d been stealing money from Stuart to fund his escape. Later, Ste and Azim came face to face for the first time and the pair ended up kissing when Azim offered him his support. However, back in the house, Jonny informed Stuart about Ste’s plan to escape. Yep, Jonny was lying and it looks like Ste’s now in grave danger...
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, preparations for Sami and Sinead’s wedding were well underway, despite Misbah having to jet off to care for her sick Mother and the bride-to-be being missing in action. Yasmine was feeling left out as Sami, Azim and Imran larked about and headed off to meet with Finn. Imran was later shocked when he realised who his Sister was hanging out with, but he agreed to keep quiet when he realised how much Finn’s friendship meant to her. However, their friendship soon hit a Sami shaped bump in the road when Edward informed him that Yasmine and Finn were getting close. Understandably horrified that his Sister was spending time with a convicted rapist, Sami ordered them to stop seeing each other, leading to Yasmine telling him that she wasn’t coming to the wedding if she couldn’t be friends with Finn...

Elsewhere this week, Mercedes remained in a coma following the shooting whilst Grace begged James to help get Liam released from custody. Finally, Darren struggled to hide his jealousy when Mandy allowed Luke to spend some time with DJ.

changing times
sebastian starts uni, and aaron and robert have to face the reality of a slightly quieter house.
for @robertisbisexual, because it was mostly her idea anyway.
ao3 link
They’d known the day was coming for weeks, now - years, really, considering how Seb had thrown himself head first into college, determined to get his top class A-Levels, and go to the university of his dreams. They were proud, of course - it wasn’t every day that your son got into university, not to mention the fact the university was the University of Edinburgh, of all places, but it was still strange to be coming back to an empty house.
They’d driven up with him - how couldn’t they? Sebastian had insisted he drive most of the way, something which had Robert on edge from Newcastle onwards, but they’d sort of had to allow it, really. Their son was out on his own, now - the least of their problems was Seb cutting it a little close to the speed limit on the motorway.
“I miss him already,” Robert admitted, setting his bag down on the couch. They’d gotten the train back down, Robert worrying his entire way down from Scotland, listing off a thousand things that could possibly go wrong now Seb was living in a student flat, Aaron doing his best to reassure his husband that no, their eighteen year old son was not going to get kidnapped walking to a lecture.
Aaron pressed a kiss to Robert’s clothed shoulder, giving his waist a squeeze. “I know, me too,” he hummed his agreement. “But he’s going to have the best time, Robert - you know that.”
Robert huffed out a sigh, collapsing onto the couch. “That’s what I’m worried about. What if he has so much fun he doesn’t want to come home?”
Aaron couldn’t help but laugh. “He’ll be home once he realises he has to do his own washing and it doesn't appear magically ironed and folded at the end of his bed,” he said, flicking on the kettle, the sound deafening in the silence of their house.
You’d be surprised, how used to the noise you’d get over the years.
“It’s too quiet,” Robert mumbled, something Aaron couldn’t quite make out caught between his fingers. He padded across the room, what it was becoming entirely obvious as he got closer - it was Sebastian’s old giraffe teddy, the one he’d had his entire life.
The one he’d been too grown up to bring away to university.
“He was always going to have to grow up,” Aaron said, his tone sympathetic as he took in the sad slope of Robert’s shoulders, the reality of Sebastian being gone hitting Robert like a tonne of bricks now they were back in their quiet house.
“I know,” Robert sighed. “But I still see him as the little boy who needed you to hoover the monsters out from under his bed every night.”
Aaron couldn’t help but laugh, remembering all the nights Sebastian would stand on his bed, and demand Aaron get the hoover and make sure there was no monsters left before he could sleep.
It felt like five minutes ago, and a lifetime ago all at once.
That was parenthood, Aaron supposed.
Before he could properly reply, the front door went, a chorus of loud voices breaking the unbearable silence they'd come home to, Leah practically swinging off the front door as she burst inside, her hockey gear hanging off one shoulder, blazer presumably stuffed into her backpack, despite Robert’s meticulous ironing. “Dad, dad!” she beamed at them, dumping her stuff on the floor, throwing her arms around Aaron, hugging him tightly. “Did he cry, when you left Seb?” she asked cheekily, Aaron wondering when his daughter got so tall, Leah practically his height these days.
“Oh, like a baby,” Aaron grinned, Abigail tucking herself under his other arm once she’d dumped her stuff on the floor alongside Leah’s. “How was school?” he asked.
“Booooring,” Leah rolled her eyes. “All they did was sit us down and talk about how important exams are, this year.”
“Well, they are important,” Aaron countered, flicking her on the forehead. “How was training?”
If Sebastian has been the bookworm growing up, Leah was the athlete of the family. She’d tried every sport under the sun, over the years (including a memorable occasion after she’d stared kickboxing where she’d broken Isaac Dingle’s nose), but hockey was her new passion in life.
“I’m better than everyone else on the team,” Leah grinned, pressing a kiss to Aaron’s cheek before she headed for the kitchen, pulling out a carton of milk. Every inch her fathers daughter, when it came to confidence - and the grin on Robert’s face told Aaron he was thinking the same.
“How was school, Roo?” Robert asked, flashing Aaron a concerned look.
Maybe - maybe it had been because he had the most boisterous older siblings possible, but Rueben had always been the quietest of their kids, introverted and quiet in ways Leah and Abigail had never been.
Rueben shrugged, setting his bag down carefully before he padded across the room, tucking himself under Robert’s arm. His uniform almost looked too shiny and new, the sleeves a little long on their youngest, his curly hair an unruly mess as he pressed his face to Robert’s shirt.
He looked more and more like Aaron, the older he was getting.
“What happened, eh?” Robert asked, his voice soft, and quiet. Fifty had made Robert calmer, his husband growing into his older age in ways Aaron hadn’t expected, mellow in ways he’d never been when Aaron had first met him.
“It’s a lot bigger than primary school,” Rueben admitted, his voice still quiet. “What if I don’t make new friends?”
“It’s only the first day, Roo, you’ll have more friends than you know what to do with soon,” Abigail shook her head, Leah loudly shouting her agreement from inside the fridge, where she was ruining her appetite no doubt, the familiar sounds of packets being torn open a clear signal she was tucking into one of her self proclaimed epic sandwiches.
Robert wrapped his arms around Rueben, practically tugging their youngest onto his lap. “It’s a big change,” he hummed, pressing a kiss to Rueben’s hair. “But give it a few weeks, and you’re not even going to be thinking about how different it is.”
“Promise?” Rueben looked up at Robert with those bright blue eyes none of them had ever been able to say no too, his brow furrowed.
“Promise,” Robert reassured, cuddling Rueben close. Aaron knew exactly what his husband was doing - it was the same thing he did every night he’d check on Rueben and heir youngest was still away, Aaron happy to clamber in alongside him and cuddle him half to death, cherishing all the moments he had left to be an embarrassing dad before Rueben decided he was too cool for dad cuddles.
“How about Chinese tonight?” Aaron suggested, wincing as Abigail let out a delighted yelp right in his ear. “I reckon we can make a proper night of it, go out and eat ourselves stupid - and make Seb jealous he’s missing out.”
“I bet he’s having chicken nuggets for dinner,” Leah grinned. “It’s the only thing he knows how to make.”
“I can’t believe he’s going to come back with anaemia,” Robert groaned, cuddling Rueben a little closer. “We’re having mandatory cooking classes once a week now, I can’t believe Seb is going to live off chicken nuggets and Tesco ready made meals now.”
“Go on, go and get changed,” Aaron said, pulling Rueben in for a bone-crushing hug as he untangled himself from Robert, wishing he could give their youngest even half the confidence the twins had.
Almost as soon as the girls were upstairs, they turned music on, the sound thumping through the entire house, Rueben tugging at his tie as he traipsed up after them, Leah yelling at him to hurry up so they could FaceTime Seb before dinner.
“We’re going to be okay, aren’t we?” Robert looked up at Aaron, greyer around the edges now, but every inch the man he married all those years ago now.
Aaron settled himself down next to Robert, swinging his legs over his husbands, the noise from upstairs deafening. “I reckon we’ll be fine,” he grinned, pressing a gentle kiss to Robert’s lips.
“DAD! Dad, quick - Sebastian is going out with his housemates and he looks ridiculous, come and tell him he can’t go out dressed like that!”
Seb’s annoyed voice burst out tinnily from the phone Leah was dangling over the bannister. “Leah, shut up, I’m older than you! And have you seriously stolen my favourite shirt? I wanted to bring that to uni with me! Dad, tell her to take it off!”
Aaron couldn’t help but laugh, snorting into the material of Robert’s shirt. “Which dad do you think they mean?” he joked, watching as Rueben snuck past his sisters, wearing a ratty old hoodie of Sebastian’s, throwing himself down on the couch next to them.
“If we stay quiet, will they just fight it out themselves?” Rueben inquired, a cheeky grin on his face.
“I think it’s worth a shot,” Robert said in a stage-whisper, pulling Rueben in close as Leah and Sebastian fought it out on FaceTime, Seb demanding Leah post him the shirt right that second, or he was going to drive home and take it off her.
Sebastian might be a few hundred miles away now, but it didn’t seem like anything much was going to change.
Aaron was happy with that.

I feel like we’re being set up here. Leah now knows none of us want to baby to be killed off so it will hurt more.
No I just have writers block and didn’t know which direction to take it. I’m travelling to Newcastle to get my wedding dress fitted tomorrow so I have ample time to think about what I want to write ✍️
