I was riding in a car to New York to see a movie, and the whole car ride there, I was just posting on a blog whose whole gimmick was that I would take a post and spell it backwards. Even really long posts.

Exploring NYC: The Whitney Museum of American Art, February 2023
We went to visit the Edward Hopper exhibit, and also got to see one of the outdoor exhibit spaces!
The Hopper exhibit was SUPER crowded, which was why most of my pictures of this artwork were either taken at extreme angles or else the paintings had other people standing in front of them.
Fun Fact: I first fell in love with Hopper’s work when I saw it at the Whitney Museum’s old location. That’s what inspired me to get my own copy of the 1939 painting New York Movie, which is hanging up next to my desk right now!

Since I love this painting so much, I made sure to take a deeper dive in this part of the exhibit. I got to see some of the many sketches that Hopper created leading up to this painting:

… plus part of his ENORMOUS collection of ticket stubs from the many times that he went to the theater!
