More old UTDR fanart dump

Time to repost more of my old utdr fanart lol, first off is everyone's favorite academic duo! When I first read Jockington's dialogue about how he and Catti first met in gym class during hula hoop day, and how Catti used him as a hula hoop substitute, I found it incredibly adorable, so I drew it. Looking back, I'm not really proud of this design I drew for Catti, it's just not super accurate to how she's supposed to look (ei short hair instead of long, missing eyeliner and grey ear insides??), thankfully I've given her a better and more accurate redesign for my newer drawings, which y'all will get to see soon-ish lol.

Next is the vessel! I personally think that the vessel will return in later chapters of Deltarune, possibly in either 5, 6 or 7, and will either be our new vessel to control if Kris abandons us, or will be our antagonist. The only thing I'm not a super big fan of here is the background, I think it looks too simplistic and wish I worked on it more. Don't question why Gaster's face is at a corner I have no idea why he is there.

And finally is the Spade King actually trying to be a good dad to Lancer! I had some small dialogue written for this that I included in the original twitter caption cuz was too lazy to put it in the drawing:

Spade King: "Do you forgive me, my son? Even after all that I've done?"

Lancer: "Of course I do, Dad! Now let me give you a hug!"

I would like to point out a criticism regarding this game, in spectacular to the Section 3 demo. While I love the mechanisms, unique designs, and personalities you’ve gave to this new interpretation of Underfell, I feel as if Susie’s personality is out of character.

It always felt off how Susie stops being so depressed/cynical so quickly, and I’ve found that other’s agree that it is out of character. Obviously, nothing is perfect, and everyone has different character interpretations, and it’s completely fine! However, I feel as if the transition from Depressed Susie to Trying-To-Hold-It-Together Susie should be more smooth if that’s the approach you’re going, since it seems a little forced.

If you want to, once again, you can delete this if you feel condescended or anything else like that! I love your game, I really do— it’s what got me into Deltarune— and I just wanted to add my two cents to this discussion.

I can’t wait until the next part comes out! Happy game making, and I hope my criticism is useful to you, if you choose to apply it :)

Zinfogel just recently posted a showcase of Variety Lance (he said Variety Lance is extremely good for Clair) and Variety Agatha, including his thoughts about Masters nowadays and Variety Scouts. I wanna know what you think about it.

Oh wow, nevermind, that's depressing. The video itself is short, and having run Clair constantly, I'm content with her ability to off-type with just SS Kris/Lucas, Lance isn't necessary. Moreover, his discussing is exactly correct. Variety scouts are a known scam, they're far lower effort, and it seems wholly unnecessary in the era of 5/5. I actually agree with the 5/5, there's something to that. Not always, but it's a nice boost for older pairs, and brings in incentive for long-time players to try again for old favorites. The Variety thing is...odd. The Eevees all being copies of one another, Bruno and Lorelei being virtually identical pairs, they're just not doing much that's interesting. And we're in this odd space of a lot doing the same jobs as always, unless they're Master Fair, which the rats set the tempo at "unspeakably broken for the game we're in, to the point they're not fun to use."

I agree with him that the game is flatlining. I think the problem is an over-emphasis on too much at once. There are just too many sync pairs being thrown in each month, with like a whopping six in most situations. It's a lot of focus on developing the kit and the grid and doing something new without being broken, and it comes at the cost of everything else.

That said, one thing I will argue is the irrelevance of sync move animation. Bro, I'm sorry, but you watch those one (1) time and then skip forever to get back to the action. Even in showcases, that's how it's done. From a design perspective, why would you shell out the money for those animations that literally no one watches? That's not the problem. The problem is really more in the lack of unique designs, the unnecessary "limited" gimmick, and that the game hasn't done anything too novel in a while. I think it's at least trying with the rebuffs, but it's just not enough to be interesting when Zones are better.

And to argue with myself, I realize six sync pairs is a lot in a month, but also that if we didn't get that, a lot of characters just wouldn't get anything. The Variety scouts are a lame cash grab, but in the case of Lorelei, it was a lame cash grab for a sync pair I kinda like, that definitely wouldn't exist otherwise. So it's this awful space of recognizing yeah, this sucks, the game shouldn't be this way, but also if it wasn't it's not like all our dreams would come true either. There's a healthy middle ground between the two somewhere, but I don't think DeNA has a reason to pursue it.

The last thing I'll say, and I hate saying it but it's what happens to me...I wonder if Zinfogel isn't just burning out of the game. Doing the same things for so long wears on you regardless of enjoyment, and maybe he's just hitting that wall. There are times I feel like I'm hitting it. And to be frank, the explanation of "I gave in to my impulses" occurring multiple times in the last two months between variety and SC and tapu? From experience, that's the feeling of chasing a feeling no longer there. That's when you step back and make sure addiction isn't creeping in, because now you're pulling stuff you weren't that excited about to hope it's more fun than you thought. The insidious thing is sometimes it works. Sometimes you get SC Zinnia. Other times, you get Palentine's Mallow. It's unreliable and a bad habit to form. So I dunno. I'm kinda worried about him, honestly.

(aw yeah progress report time >:3)

STUFF IS HAPPENING!!!! Wowowow so much stuffs its crazy how much stuffs is… I don’t… it’s… uhm, happening?!! I thought I should clear some shits up. Ok so basically I’m working on four simultaneous projects somehow!!! Two AUs (“Mystery Delta Dungeon” and Deltaswap Inspired “Delta Scene Change” title STILL pending) and the fourth and fifth iteration in my kind of Deltarune… Krerdly… series?? Idk what to call it but just know that that’s happening! The two new mainline fics don’t overlap too-too much which means working on both sort of at the same time is pretty stress free in the continuation department. Soo those are going smoothly (even if they’re still both kinda in the draft phase) and I’m really happy with the vibes there!! I actually decided to implement the fourth in the middle of the fifth so it’s more of a compliment to the series than anything but I definitely think it’s needed and a super welcome addition in my opini-onion. *~^* ~

The order I’m aiming to release my projs is Delta Dungeon 1st -> Delta Scene Change 2nd -> Pieromancer 3rd -> Boons and Banes of Love 4th! I think THINK (think) that Delta Dungeon could be finished by this year if I do a good job ;^> but don’t count on it because deadlines were my downfall for my last upload “Cosmetic Heart Container”. ònó I made the setting a friggin mall and pulled that “big fish small pond” shit at a MALL like omg there was so much… potential and I frew it all up but WHATEVER I’m proud of the buildup!! Just wish I didn’t have to spoil my own fun with deadlines (fuck deadlines)… maybe I’ll rewrite a sort of continuation for that fic and double it’s size when everything else is said and done?? I’ll see!!!! It definitely deserves justice!!

Speaking of aftermaths: I’ve been rolling the idea of a Catti-focused fic in my brain for a bit now. Don’t know about the nitty gritty details but after everything I think it could be fun to promote “major side character” to “main character” and see what happens. Don’t want to pull a Spamton NEO and drop dead after I sever my last string from Deltarune lol (ouch @o@) (won’t happen anytime soon @v@‘).

alright so. been thinking about it for a while and i could change my mind but... thinking the darkworld chapter will be a sprite comic? it'd be fun and (probably) easier on me to make.

MK: healer, has beef with Suzy the new kid

Suzy: bruiser, same as deltarune. tho, she'd have a different background than DR and has her own backstory. is a boxer now

Frisk: leader, same as kris. excited to be here

Chara and Feylow: the narrators. Chara is the "creator" of this darkworld -though it's not a real darkworld. it's a simulation of one from Gaster, made from before he was scattered. Chara accidently ignites it, sending the group into the virtual fake darkworld.

color wise: oddly only kris really has a vastly different color pallet in darkworld? susie, noelle and berdly all have the same colors -just brighter and bluer tinted. so i kinda leaned into that idea here (with the exception of chara and feylow, who still are glowing in this version)

frisk's design: went for a vocaloid match up with medieval bard. has a keyboard and headphones. their vest and pants are both blue + the red keyboard strap mimic the outfit they wore underground.

for anyone curious: Suzy would still be "new in town", and introduced in the same chapter. however, the previous chapter (excluding the christmas one) has Frisk and MK team up while hiking. here's the updated hiking groups:

Frisk - MK - Papyrus: MK is a Papyrus mega fan by the end of the pacifist route if you saved them in Waterfall. It's also healthier for Frisk to have friends outside of Chara and Asriel -thus, in the redraw MK and Frisk are really good friends.

Chara - Asriel: They're by themselves. It's important I sell you guys their friendship before Asriel bugs off as King full time.

Raine - Franky - sans: Someone suggested this combo a while back (sorry i don't remember who) and it's just so funny. It also gives Raine some more importance to the plot. that's something I want to add more into the story -after all, they're going to become the next ruler of Monsterland

If you don't mind me asking, how's the writing process for the Darkworld Arc going? iirc you were struggling with it, were you able to figure out what needed to be done?

i don't mind you asking at all! but yeah uh. the rewrite is tough. its a combo of "my writing approach and skills have gradually changed and my goals with the characters are different" and how i'm going to approach all of this is messy and frustrating...

plus lately i'm just stuck working on an assortment of fangames and such, and going back to AFR I'm like "ah... a mess..."

for the darkworld specifically? it's so hard to even justify and it's so VASTLY different from the undertale world -which already struggles to set up a post-game surface world that's not "canon." like i'm really pushing what this au can be and idk...

so yeah idk tbh.

that said i AM happy with the changes that did go into Chapter 2! i'm hoping with the new storyline and the path it takes it'll click and work itself into a good story. i just gotta be very mindful of how i plan things

Analyzing the new Deltarune previews

great nucking news we have been fed lately!!! As the title states, I’ll be analyzing the new previews and add some interesting information I’ve seen thrown around on the interwebs.

Without further ado, let’s begin!

"After the dark night, the sun shines brightly."

This caption reminds me of Seam’s warning, which would fit in with the probably confirmed Chapter 3 dark world, since it was made during the night.

You don't want to get caught when the sun goes down...

As for the preview image, hoo boy is there a fuckton of interesting stuff. Just from Susie being in QC’s diner we can determine that, since Catti isn’t particularly fond of her, either she isn’t working today or perhaps they’re on better terms now likely because of Dark World shenanigans. 

The NPCs here appear to be a froggit, Charles(most_improved_1997) with a now slightly longer hat, probably the lion waitress and possibly a version of this npc in the MTT resort with a different bow placement.

In the second image, though there aren’t as many characters or implications, we will got a neat bit of content. I’ve seen people speculate that this may be a minigame similar to Thundersnail in undertale, though I doubt Susie will light on fire if we encourage her too much. I’m still wondering why the rock looks like an onion. Another thing to note is the lack of rain which we later see in

this preview. The strangest thing here is the closed police station, that might have something to do with what will happen in the dark worlds. This (not new) monster is seen dancing in the rain, which I believe was foreshadowed in their sprite name (spr_npc_rainykid_0). Should we look at NPC names for future chapter predictions? Well, if we decide to do just that,

we’re going to have to confront the fact that this mole guy’s sprite name is ...

ANYWAYS, onto the dark world previews!

‘Tis a nice callback to the beginning of Chapter 1, but the caption also slightly scares me. If Castle Town is indeed getting a lot bigger, I can’t imagine how much unique dialogue will have to be given to all of the NPCs...

Other than that, this is a pretty nice scene! Sweet and K_K (no Cap’n?) are performing along with Tasque Manager and a mysterious saxophone player. Their design appears to be obscured (but it would be kinda funny if it’s the real deal), but just from their silhouette we can see a few neat details. Their hat sort of resembles the doors from the Green Day preview, and they also look like Inspector Gadget. Also also, the deltarune symbol is on the drums. Koole.

(I can’t get the webm to work, sorry.) Queen is hilarious as always, Rouxls is pretending to be a lamp?, reminiscent of the lamp gag from undertale. The path to the right remains unexplored, something to look forward to in the full release!

For some reason, I’m getting dystopia/utopia warning signs from this caption.

Ok, so a ‘green room’ is, according to Oxford Languages, “a room in a theatre or studio in which performers can relax when they are not performing.” This explains the vending machine, TVs, couches and silver platter in the middle. Still think the vending machine is a hint that there’s a big boss fight after this, like with snowgrave Spamton NEO. There are a lot of visible stars everywhere which is most likely based off Asriel’s side of the shared bedroom. Aditionally, the 2 couches appear to be inspired by the beds in that same room, the cut on the right couch could possibly be the dark world equivalent of the unidentified stain in Kris’ side of the room.

The left couch seems to have a similar look to The Sweater™ and has an L-shape(d hole). There’s also a thing with pairs of two here: 2 couches, 2 TVs, 2 large doors, 2 cacti. The doors actually appear to resemble a stylized M or perhaps a house. The wires at the ceiling might have something to do with Spamton NEO? I’ve seen that theory thrown around. 

The storage(?) is particularly interesting; we obviously have swords on Kris’ (?) side, they could also be knives which would have some interesting implications for the dark world forms of light worlds objects. But what’s most interesting is that Asriel’s side has bottles of alcohol! (If you believe in the alcoholic Toriel theory, like mother like son, I suppose.)  And a singular Maus which is probably the dark world equivalent of the actual computer mouse on his side of the room.

All in all, a pretty nice status update so we aren’t starving as much anymore. Scrumptious.

Hey! So I'm kinda new to tumblr so if this is the wrong place to ask then I'm sorry. But I have this deltarune AU i'm working on, and honestly, i have a few solid parts but theres a lot of parts im missing in the AU. I don't even have a proper name for it yet.

It's a swap AU, where the three primary swaps are Starwalker and Kris (With starwalker being turned into a human), Clover and Susie, and then Spamton and Ralsei. I was wondering what kind of advice or suggestions you would be able to give. Thank you!

Well, I guess just take your time with it. Sometimes, coming up with the right things to fit into an AU will take a while and taking time to go over ideas is important especially if you have a tone or theme. Creativity can't exactly be rushed after all.

If you have a bunch of missing parts just try to connect the parts you already have together. That's usually what I do. Want the characters to go from plot point A to plot point B? Well how would they get there both physically and story wise? Whatever you choose to start with doesn't really matter. This can be applied to many other things as well.

Also, it's important to remember that you don't have to impress anyone with your AU! Alot of the AUs I make are for fun and I just throw in whatever the hell I want and take the story in the direction I desire. Staying true to what you want to create is important because the stress of impressing others can be overwhelming.

When I made Honeycomb Ralsei I didn't know so many people would like her design and simply went with it. When I created Soulgrave, it was based off a poem I wrote that I turned into a comic and people just so happened to like that as well. Not only did I make something I was proud of but others enjoyed it as well.

Another thing is you don't have to stick to cannon if you don't want to! Don't let people tell you otherwise. Having fun while making an AU is one of the most important parts.

I have a new Deltarune theory and I'm wondering if you can see some truth in it, and the crux of it is that UT is a (unfinished) game within the world of DR being made by Asriel. the first thing that made me start thinking about this is the interaction with Asriel's computer that notes the final boss for an unfinished game is a character with giant rainbow wings. This is obviously a reference to the UT pacifist route ending, and it occurred to me that this could really easily be extrapolated on, maybe Asriel is attending college to develop games and UT is a passion project featuring all the people he knows in his personal life, and all the experiences we see in UT between the characters is basically Azzy's fanfic, and Azzy, being an older brother, makes his younger brother the protagonist of this game, and gives himself an equally important role (antagonist). The way SpamtonNEO gets Mettaton's body is that Asriel has designs for it on his computer. Any thoughts, any counterpoints? Sorry for dumping this on you, but I just finished Snowgrave and I had to explain to SOMEONE

kris is asriel’s sibling, not brother. but yeah i do think that’s an interesting take! interestingly enough i don’t think it was ever sepecified that mettaton drew the neo body. i think that’s what we’re lead to believe, but swatch doesn’t mention the lightner that drew it by name

edit: well. actually i just realized. asriel wouldn’t know sans or papyrus in dr to put them in his game, they just moved to town. and even if he did why would you use your neighbors exact names and likenesses in your game but change your sibling’s name and likeness djsjdndj

Originally I'd had thoughts about them trading Stožice outfits but then I realised this was impossible because the outfits are just so uniquely tailored to them. Sorry other boys but no one else could pull off Kris's Stožice look.

OK, with Bojan's look, I warmed up to it over the course of the show tbh. I was lucky enough to be at Stožice and lost my fucking mind when I first saw the boys' new outfits on stage, but I remember thinking Bojan's was fairly modest and not quite as flashy compared to the others (maybe by design, since he's so often in the spotlight anyway?). I laughed out loud though when I realised he had his NAME on his PANTS because that's just so ridiculous. And then when I saw that the sleeves were detachable I was 100% on board because that detail is SO Bojan and I appreciate that him losing his sleeves had become such a trope that he (or someone on his design team) just incorporated that into his look.

and with Jan, I agree, THAT JACKET! I'm not a Jan girlie but I could stare at That Photo of him at Stožice leaning back with a little smile on his face, perfectly framed by his hair, in the red jacket, forever...

totally agree on all your Halloween takes, those suits were really doing something. I was also drooling over Bojan in the tight-fitting shirt and tie, there's that one moment where he comes back on stage to introduce the surprise encore and is just playing with his tie before calling for the boys in German and I swear I've watched that clip like 20 times because everything about it is sooo sexy

about all their other looks, just - uuuugghghhghhgh our boys have STYLE. it's a tragedy bojan didn't wear that pink collar on stage too but it might have been too constricting to sing in. I fantasize about one day getting a Cha Cha Cha show with Käärijä having the JO boys on leads dressed all in pink - not in the actual pink dancers' outfits, but in their own styles (slay for kris, suit/blazer for nace, slutty for bojan, shirtless for jure, sleeveless for jan), just in that colour. the mental image alone gives me strength.

agree about the carpe diem MV looks. their ESC outfits though... I was SO excited to see them again at Stožice, and they were part of what first caught my eye about them at ESC, but I think of them as more "cute" than sexy. I appreciate that they've gotten a lot more daring since then.

The Stožice outfits are an automatic "yes please" for all five of them, but I especially like how Bojan has recently been going shirtless under the purple coat. If he does that in Poland I might not make it to the end of the show intact 🙃

Seriously though, all the Stožice outfits. They absolutely nailed it and I can see why they're continuing to perform in them.

Also their Halloween costumes, because I was lucky enough to be in Vienna and WOW those flight crew uniforms were 🔥🔥🔥

I also love Bojan's black sparkly shirt from... I wanna say Tampere? (although I think he's worn it at multiple shows). I'm a sucker for collared shirts with a low neckline or the top buttons undone...

And any of Nace's blazers / suit jackets / whatever that style is. Plus the new way he's doing his hair. I wasn't sure about the slicked-back look when he first did it at Stožice but now I'm a convert 🙏🏻😇

The Bad Guys!

I recently watched "The Bad Guys" and did some drawing but they are mostly before because when I saw the trailer drop I was so excited for it to come out but I didn't start drawing them yet until I watched the feature videos and the 6minutes of it on YouTube as well as DreamWorks TikTok videos of them so yeah!

Also please note that I do not draw anthro morphic animals/furry's? a lot and I'm still working on it.

I did doodles of them for the first time, trying to get there structures and features right

I also made an OC, her name is Roxanne Jones Retriever and she is Black Scottish (she is a chocolate Golden retriever and is sometimes mistaken for a Labrador Retriever, reasons for why I made her Scottish is because Golden Retrievers origin are from the Scottish Highlands and I thought it would fit her 😊)

She and snake have some bad history together, tension between them are thicker than icing on a cake. Even though it doesn't look like it on the drawings I was still figuring out her character and personality, I have some of it down, like with Snake and Her having this from Friends, to Enemies, to Friends, then Lovers.

I low-key think that they always have these old couple arguments that have sass, some petty insults with a dash of flirting/teasing from both sides lol

Yes I ship Roxanne with Snake. She's 3 years younger than him. Fight me.

She works along side with Governor Diane Foxington after she retired from the Navy, after the deal with Professor Marmalade and Wolf, she volunteered to be the Bad Guys parole officer to keep a close eye on them incase they step out of line. (Even though Chief Luggins wanted to Roxanne wanted to help her relax more)

Tyrese is the Blue Heeler (this is him in development phase as I thought he should be a Retriever to but thought I should change it and shake it up a bit), as I don't have a fully figured out name for the other one as a default I'll use Abed, who is my favorite character from Community and always shall be, he is Pakistani American! They are both the adopted sons of Roxanne and she loves them to death, and will hurt/kill anyone who harms her babies.

I see a good dynamic between them and the crew

Snake, I have feeling that he'd also be like Tarantula but knows when to get serious. Father-sons relationship.

I am still figuring out designs for Roxanne and Tyrese and still working on how to draw the Bad Guy and Diane better same goes for Officer Luggins and the News lady (I forgot her name sorry)

I am no longer employed because it's past high time I admitted that I can't have a normal job and have an appartment that's livable in, so my twin's income is now our sole source of income. So from now on I'm going to try to make at least 60 new pins a day, since that's the limit for designs you can upload to Redbubble at once, in the hopes that more pins will mean more people are buying them.
