why not team buck? :(
like eddie deserves to go through his sad girl era after being so joyous but buck revels in almost dying
becauseeeee in daily life when the world is pressing in on him from all sides eddie, like bobby, truly believes that living is a curse. but when he’s dying all the noise cuts out. he is forced to stare down all the things he stands to lose and is left with his base-level instincts which tell him he needs to fight and that he was built to survive the anguish. as much as he is making small joyful choices he also needs to “choose” to stick around because he is not something his loved ones need to be protected from. and also i haven’t watched him struggle since season 4, plus we only got a whisper of what happens to buck when he thinks something is mortally wrong with eddie in 7x06 when he thought eddie was dead in the bathtub. if buck has the nde i am deprived of the opportunity to see buck do what he does best: scream and flail around in a way that is reserved exclusively for when eddie gets fucked up.
also buck almost dying pretty much never leads him to introspect but only inspires him to become a new version of himself defined by whatever it was that happened to him. you’re right he likes dying too much. they literally have done nothing with the time he already did die for whatever reason so i’m bored already. however the conditions now (he is bisexual, already sad/lonely/questioning what the hell he’s doing, eddie is unrepressing and probably not as inclined to hide behind chris) are such that having to deal with eddie almost dying again could throw some things into sharp clarity.
the reason i am very amenable to having it be both of them is that, even though everyone is always talking about how eddie never got to see buck’s reaction to the well or the shooting or whatever, i don’t think that is actually very important. what would be great is buck should see how his living/dying impacts EDDIE while simultaneously being forced to confront the possibility that he doesn’t have time to be stupid anymore because eddie is about to be gone and he needs to embrace reality, and fast, before he loses the chance to have what he actually wants for even just a minute <3

Based on the stills, we're getting a loft scene in 7x05 between Buck and Eddie that is clearly meant to parallel the one between Buck and Tommy in 7x04. And I question that choice if Eddie is only going over to reassure Buck that they're still friends. Inevitably, the scenes will be compared and contrasted and the impression the audience will be left with is that the show is trying to draw a clear line between the kind of relationship Buck has with Tommy and the kind of relationship he has with Eddie. So, it makes Buddie seem a lot less likely to happen. Sure, in the future they could reverse that decision, but why film the scene that way in the first place, you know? There's no other reason except to deliberately draw that comparison.
I think a kiss between Buck and Eddie at the end of that scene would strategically be a good choice in order to keep people excited about the show over the 2-week hiatus. Plus, it would make shooting the two scenes so similarly make sense in a Buddie context. Additionally, it would explain why Buck and Eddie seem to be so at odds with each other in 7x06 - they're dealing with the fallout of the kiss and they aren't on the same page about it. Buck's relationship with Tommy is new enough that if he ended it, it would be fine, but Eddie's relationship with Marisol has been going on for months. We've seen Buck behave badly in relation to Eddie, so it would make sense that we see the reverse as well. Plus, Eddie kissing someone else after getting serious with a girl would parallel what Buck did to Taylor in s5.
I know that there are script leaks out there that suggest a different ending for 7x05 (including the dreaded b-word), but, who knows? Hope springs eternal.

Season 7 of 911 if I was a writer/in charge. It's a bit much...
Now I don't know what abc has planned for the rest of the season; however, if I had been pacing the season...
Episodes 1-4 remain the same...loved the pacing and the storyline. That 3 part premiere was amazing. Episode 4 was set up beautifully.
Now on to 5...I think that this should have been just the storyline with Buck x Tommy and Eddie x Marisol. Add in a call that connects to both situations like they used to do in seasons 1 & 2. And have some of the wedding planning happening. Maybe with all the girls, outfit shopping? Situation arises from another wedding party. We also get a mention of Hen's excitement for their new addition to the family and Athena can bring up Harry and how he's doing with his community service. I just want that connection of episode and storyline back.
7x06 I personally think that Henren's storyline should have been pushed to this episode. That would have given them more room to let the audience focus on them. Add in the call we got in 7x05 abt the dog. And to give us a lighter note and breathing room...date montage...Eddie x Marisol and Buck x Tommy. Show both couples learning abt each other and having a great time doing it. Yes I know it will upset some people, but oh well. We also get Maddie x Chimney planning the wedding in that montage.
7x07 Best Man/Maid of Honor...the 118 realizes that neither Maddie nor Chimney have stated who is going to be what in their wedding. Questions and havoc arises...at home, in the station, and on call with them trying to prove who should be what.
7x08 WEDDING and apparently a wild bachelor party gone wrong. Chimney vanishes? All the families need to be there. I have no idea what they have planned, but I do oh so hope that Tommy brings Chim back to the wedding in his helicopter. All couples get a slow dance... Bobby x Athena, Eddie x Marisol, Hen x Karen, Maddie x Chimney, Buck x Tommy
7x09 Honeymoon for Maddie x Chimney...saving a life at some point and then getting right back to the honeymoon. Bobby and Hen talking to Buck abt his relationship. We need to see Hen and Bobby's reaction. And Hen and Tommy I feel deserve a moment as well, so they can have that when Tommy comes to pick Buck up after shift. Talks all around. But it actually turns out to be a double date between Eddie x Marisol and Buck x Tommy. Tommy gets called in... has to leave Buck with a sweet kiss goodbye.
7x10 Finale. Storm/fire or something that Tommy was called in from last episode. Maddie dispatches the 118 to help after his team calls for backup. I'm picturing a cliffside mansion up in flames, probably cause I've been reading some amazing ao3. Either that or a high rise... one way or another the helicopter is going down with Tommy barely escaping and Bobby dispatching the team to both save Tommy, get the people out, and put out the fire. I want to see a full circle... Tommy was with them risking all to save Athena x Bobby. The 118 are going to do whatever it takes to get to him while still doing the rest of their jobs. I want them worried, determined, and all the amazing things they are. 118 officially adopts Tommy into the family even though he stays stationed as a pilot. We get family dinner at Bobby x Athena's with all the beautiful and happy couples.
And that's all I got! Cue end of season 7.

Rogers and Weaver Scenes
I can’t get enough of the tension and comradery these two have so here’s a summary of key moments. @martianbugsbunny I hope this helps you. :D
7x01 Rogers gets promoted to detective and meets Weaver as his partner
7x02 Before Sabine and Jacinda appear in Roni’s bar, Weaver is parked outside the precinct, upset at Rogers for showing up late (early really since his shift is not for another hour) and having an inflated ego. Rogers thinks he got promoted for his hard work but Weaver states that Rogers only became detective bc he chose him. Why? Well, we get riddles as Rogers gets thrown the keys and forced to drive as the new guy.
In Belfrey Towers, when they are told to destroy Henry with blackmail, Rogers gets mad at Weaver in the elevator about legality and where loyalties lie. Another moment in Roni’s bar where Roni warns Rogers about Weaver’s partners never staying around long. Definitely in Henry’s apartment with the lightbulb that Rogers knows how to turn on bc he’s been there before. During Lucy’s ballet, where Rogers drops the swan keychain into Henry’s apron pocket and then later gets confronted by Weaver for almost throwing away the expensive blackmail bracelet into a gutter. However, in the process, Rogers has restores Weaver’s belief that the rookie detective has a moral code that can’t be sullied by greed or pressure. Absolutely stunning tension and resolution.
7x03 Rogers does some investigating of his own on Michael Griffiths, a guy working for Victoria, and gets caught by Weaver in the police station. Rogers fibs that he’s late for a court date over parking tickets. Weaver spies on him from the overpass and later, about 25 mins in, releases Griffiths in front of Rogers, explaining how some things aren’t black and white, requiring ‘finesse’. I love how Weaver covers up for Rogers’ mistakes, lawful and righteous as they may seem, and turns them into both a teaching moment and an upperhand on complicated things like cold cases and Victoria.
7x04 Nearly 9 mins in, Rogers and Weaver walk through the park as Weaver explains how Tilly, his informant, has managed to make Victoria fearful. Weaver goes looking for Tilly to use her as a pawn to gain leverage, while Rogers gets emotionally protective of her, realizing Weaver doesn’t care about anyone. Then, big key moment, Weaver wakes up in the hospital bed with Rogers by his side clutching a bullet that tore right through the lucky bastard, ‘must be bloody immortal’. Rumple/Weaver lies about who shot him and orders that Tilly can go free, gaining Rogers’s empathy of “Well, perhaps you do care about her” as Rumple pretends to be Weaver with an uncaring attitude and rude remark.
7x06 Cute back and forth in hospital as Weaver decides to leave the medical facility early, walking out and kicking the wheelchair, as Rogers clearly takes joy in seeing the older man be stubborn but not as threatening as before. This takes a sour turn as Weaver makes it clear he’s not nice as he warns Rogers about having errands to run later.
7x07 Rogers finds the dead body of a guy he interviewed and arrested a few days before. Weaver shows up to the crime scene and takes Rogers off the case for emotional attachment and obsession with a cold case, along with investigating without proper procedure or communication between partners. Rogers accuses him of being shady and working with Victoria Belfrey to cover up something in the Heights or regarding Eloise Gardener. Another big key moment: Rogers and Weaver dance the line across each other’s personal space in the evidence room as Rogers gets rightfully upset over Weaver’s lies and sneaky actions, using Tilly as a pawn and a fake painted journal page to trick him into believing the girl from his cold case is dead. Weaver states that ‘obsessions can be dangerous things’ and cryptically admits that he had good reason for being prickly, wanting to protect Rogers from his easily short tempered and stubbornly headstrong self, the person who can’t see that Eloise Gardener isn’t who he is truly looking for.
7x08 Rogers solved the cold case and Eloise is now free, but Weaver warns him in the police station that he has no idea what he just blew wide open.
7x09 Ten minutes in, Weaver escorts Victoria out of the police station jail under the notion of Rogers failing to obtain a warrant despite exigent circumstances. Rogers is sure that Weaver made the judge look the other way and that there’s something fishy going on. Weaver advises he keep his head down, not dig for clues, and heed past advice. The episode’s last bit is important and sticks clear in my head XD. Near the end of the episode, Rogers asks Weaver who or what he’s looking for, drawing of dagger in hand. Rogers isn’t going to take any bs and wants the truth since all Weaver has been doing is speaking in riddles or shutting him out. Rogers gives him the chance to be honest and Rumple does him a favor by backing out of his Weaver persona, explaining the best he can without sounding insane about how everything he’s done currently is an attempt to get back to his wife. While the two may be on rocky terms, this creates a solid foundation and understanding based on newfound trust, Rogers insisting to help and Weaver asking him to help find Lucy. (just gonna cry over here from these two finally being partners on equal ground)
7x10 Quite the blink it and miss it kind of scene. At the end of the episode, Rogers and Tilly find Weaver in a messy evidence room, torn ‘all upside down’, ready to tell him about the wagon wheel graffiti symbol found on the streets, behind the Troll. Weaver shows them a coin with the same symbol and Rogers knows the older detective probably has an explanation, but doesn’t want to hear it as he can tell it won’t make sense or be believable.
7x11 Twelve mins in, Weaver tries to tell Rogers the truth about Eloise Gardener, how she’s a cult leader who repeated the actions of what was done to her, leading to the kidnapping of a teenager named Anastasia. Rogers doesn’t want to believe he freed a bad or dangerous person so he leaves the precinct to prove her innocence. 24 minutes in, after Rogers visited Eloise in her apartment, he finds himself doubting Eloise’s innocence, ‘unable to find unassailable proof’. One thing’s for sure, Rogers has a nose for the truth and wants to know what Eloise is hiding, trusting Weaver’s next plan of action, the search for greenhouses. After finding Ivy holding a dead Victoria, Rogers gains an open mind on what is considered good or evil as Weaver says things are about to get darker in Hyperion Heights.
7x12 Sixteen minutes in, Rogers and Weaver are on the case of Andrea Sage’s murder and what connects to it. They meet gingerbread baker with the wagon wheel tattoo. Luckily, they come back to the bakery later and find the passed out baker in the kitchen with turned on gas stoves, saving her life.
7x13 Unrelated but can someone please give Tilly a hug? Rogers is getting played like a fiddle by Eloise as she emotionally torments him in return for sharing relevant info. Weaver has to sit out and watch through cameras since she won’t speak with him near. They gain info on heart shaped chocolate boxes and talk to flower shop owner to no avail. At the end of the episode, Tilly caught in a compromising murder situation, the two detectives can tell she’s been framed and choose to protect her. Weaver explains what the other police could see as motive, sharing with Rogers her tragic history, and buys him time to go find Tilly and prove her innocence.
7x14 Seven minutes in, Rogers calls the current case ‘The Candy Killer Case’ as Weaver glues a porcelain teacup (iconic chipped cup) back together. Them wishing each other well on some time off or away from the case is so sweet.
7x16 Rogers and Weaver scout the Belfrey Towers parking lot for the Candy Killer’s trail. The two dads discuss their parenting techniques as Tilly gets a proper job lol. As an analogy, Weaver supplies fish as Rogers teaches Tilly how to fish. Somehow they find the killer’s book of scribbled book margins and relation to story. How? It’s a magical macguffin.
7x18 They find Hansel/Jack/Nick dead inside of the interrogation room. Separate character moments in this. Not much else to say.
7x20 Twelve mins in, Rogers gets back to the police station after running out from the underground theater. Weaver tries to gently tell and explain to him the truth, why his connection to Tilly and sense of purpose to do good stems from the past life he can’t remember. Then a bit of comedy as they recruit Margot to try and wake up Tilly from the spell casting ritual. Absolutely sweet as Rumple and Killian get to be like old rivals that have gone soft or grown with maturity.
7x21 and 22 Killian is there for Rumple as he explains the hobbling of himself to avoid war, them saying why they’re friends as they pound against the glass in the magical snowglobe that is blizzarding over, and the heart exchange.
Overall, I’m amazed at how many scenes they had with each other as detective partners (as I had forgotten so many of these) and still happily torn up at how the built up trust led to less tension and more heartfelt scenes.

I don't think it was you getting your hopes up too high, I think it was the marketing and teasing being done regarding the bucktommy of it all that let us down. Tim claiming in an interview that this was going to be something "sweet and tender" and yet, where? Then falling into the fox trap of giving us almost the entire scene in a teaser, because the scene itself was only barely a couple minutes longer than what we were shown ahead of time.
And if your hunch is right then we're not even going to see any of them actually dating because 7x06 is going to be the wedding.
Which renders all of the comments about their relationship from Tim completely and utterly void. Because how are we supposed to know this is a good relationship if we never SEE it?
Same goes for Eddie/Marisol. We don't SEE their relationship. From a viewer standpoint, going on this season alone (which is what most of the new viewers are seeing) their relationship is basically "she babysits sometimes, they hook up, now they're living together? Oh wait no they're not, because she's a nun and he has issues? And who is Ana?" And we're all supposed to see this as some good, healthy relationship?
Eddie hasn't addressed Christopher's abandonment issues (and if he wants to be setting a good example for his son as 7x01 set up, he's failing), we never got any indication that Eddie WANTED Marisol to live with him and Chris. Even the way he tells Buck about them moving in together is "She agreed to move in with ME," not "us" not "me and Chris". We don't know how long they've been discussing this (6 months into a relationship is too early to move in together regardless, especially when one party has a CHILD to consider) or how Chris feels about it.
This is another case of Eddie leaping before he looks, only this time its worse, and you can bet going off the way this season has been handled so far that there won't be any actual ramifications about it.
I have. Mixed feelings about the henren and Mara situation. On the one hand, I love that they were able to connect with her. On the other, I don't like HOW it was done. The rescue dog analogy was over the line, and the fact that there was no consequence for Mara assaulting Denny (and that nothing came of the "ripping up Dennys favourite toy" thing either) was... uncomfortable to say the least. There should have been no shame in Hen and Karen admitting that they are not equipped to handle a girl with the trauma that Mara has, because it's TRUE. They're not equipped for this at all. And now Denny has to live under the same roof as someone who lashes out violently as a trauma response, because Hen (through the writers) compared Mara to a rescue dog she saved.
(And that's not even getting into the uh.. implications of Mara being a black girl and the dog being a rescued fighting Doberman.)
I think, overall, this episode was just too cluttered. There are no consequences for the events of 7x04, there are no lasting effects from the basketball game or the "alien arm" call at the beginning of 7x05. We're all supposed to just jump right on board and believe that everything is peachy and everyone mended their fences mysteriously off screen, and that is NOT how this show is supposed to work. Especially when they are trying to establish it with a brand new audience.
Sorry this got long and I sorta hijacked your post lol but. Yeah. This episode was... a lot. I think if they'd trimmed the fat and kept it to two major plot arcs - preferably bucktommy and madney, since Buck's revelation and Maddie's wedding are the two big-ticket items this season - it would have been a lot smoother. But this felt too much like the end of season 6b. Too many balls in the air all at once, and not enough time to catch any of them, so everything just fell flat.
(Also the fact that the wedding is NEXT EPISODE and we haven't seen a millisecond of wedding planning or prep? Not even a vague discussion about venues or dresses or food or anything at all? Yeesh.)
I have so many thoughts about the episode.
First, the positives. The Henren moments were good, I’m glad they’re working things out with Mara. I love that they didn’t give up. Buck. Talking to Maddie about Tommy and Eddie was wonderful. Telling Eddie about Tommy and their hug and everything was great.
But, I’m just disappointed in the bucktommy of it all. It’s my fault for getting my hopes up too high, I know that. But I really wanted to see Buck and Tommy happy and dating. I wanted to see them going on dates and getting to know each other. I wanted to see them have a lovely first date, but instead we only saw The Cringe ending. Buck being left on the curb broke my heart. I don’t blame Tommy and I still like him, but I really hate that Buck’s “first date with a dude” ended like that. It hurts my heart. And then we didn’t get Tommy back until the end of the episode, when Buck to ask him to be his date to Madney’s wedding. Which, was wonderful. But I feel like we missed out on so much of the *good* that I so desperately wanted to see. And now having to wait 3 weeks to possibly see it…just not what I was hoping for at all.
And then just everything with Eddie/Marisol. It feels like we wasted so much time on the whole her moving in thing, for them to just end the episode basically how they were before it started. It also just didn’t make any sense to me. Eddie saying she agreed to move in as if that’s something he’s discussed before. Why did he even ask? What about the Christopher of it all, and his very recently established abandonment issues? I feel like that whole plot came out of nowhere.
Overall, I don’t think it was a bad episode necessarily. It was just the stuff with Buck that really soured it for me. I so wanted him to have a good queer experience. And everything after, the talk with Maddie, Eddie, and Tommy, just felt like too little/too late to remedy that. For me.
