#new doctor

Hey chronically ill friends how did you bring up suspicions of something being wrong to your doctor?

My current doctor is male and I’m afab and every time I’ve gone to him with extreme hip pain he’s told me that there’s nothing wrong with me and sent me on my way home

He’s opening his own practice now and moving to another city so I have a new doctor’s number that I found but I haven’t switched primary doctors since I was a child and I have no clue what is appropriate to say without being seen as crazy and overly worried

It doesn’t help that I have anxiety in my charts but I really am in so much pain every day to the point where I often have to use either a cane or wheelchair that I had to find & buy second hand when I realized I physically couldn’t walk long distances anymore without my bf supporting my body weight & making sure I didn’t pass out during pride

(usually I opt for wheelchair bc the cane hurts after about an hour)

I’ve been logging symptoms in a journal but I’m worried if I give it to this new doctor that she’ll think I’m crazy…

I haven't seen the new Doctor Who yet but given some of the sad and visceral responses I've seen men in their 50s and upwards say on social media? I imagine it's a pretty solid Doctor Who watch.

Just found out the new doctor is going to be gay and not ace-aro. It's cool that there's going to be gay representation, but why does it have to come at the cost of asexual and aromantic rep which is already so rare.

Ok I just have to get this out of my chest

I still haven't watched the whole episode, just a few clips and this scene in particular, but man I DON'T like the idea of 14 hanging around 4ever and ever.... I mean I LOVE tennant's doctor just as much as anyone, but his cycle should've ended here. I've always loved his relationship with Donna (she's my fav after all) and seeing them together again was WOW, but the problem with this regeneration is that I feel Tennant is casting a huge shadow over 15, and this should've been HIS moment. But I see a lot of posts about 14's life with the Noble family, and will they appear in the new season? will 14 return? will they do shit together? And I dunno, I wish we could just let him go like we did with every other regeneration. I just had to say it

Life update:

I went 6 months without my med bc of a lot of things. I’m now back on my Zoloft, but had to get tested to get my BC and Synthroid back (I had to change doctors after I moved) so I’m anxiously awaiting that. Getting close to the end of my thyroid hormones and I’m starting to run on empty, but it is what it is I guess.

New doctor seems willing to help me figure out what’s really wrong with me (aside from hypothyroidism) so I can finally get treatment, but I’ve only seen him once. We’ll see how it goes I guess

Tomorrow I have my first appointment with a pulmonologist. New doctors are like Schrodinger's gaslighter. Until I show up, the doctor is simultaneously taking me seriously and telling me I'm not as sick as I say I am. I hope whoever I see is reasonable because I don't think I have it in me to be civil to people taking my money and then telling me I'm lazy anymore. I ain't got it in me.

I was doing an establishing care appt. with my new PCP and my mom was there to help facilitate (I have shit memory in regards to my medical history) and my mom was the one to ask if I was maybe Autistic or AuDHD, and what she said will forever stick in my brain.

“I’ve seen your mom, your dad, and your sister, and I can say with complete confidence that you are just a very bright, very strange individual in a family of very bright, very strange people.”

And it kind of just recontextualized everything about how I view myself and my behaviors.

I think this is just a trend everywhere but I've been very frustrated this week by how much admin work is being outsourced to me as the patient/customer.

My orthodontist tells me I can make an appointment with the surgeon. I call the surgeon. They tell me I need a new referral. I call the orthodontist. They do a referral. I call the surgeon. Referral didn't come through. They tell me about their special unique system we have to use. I call the ortho again and walk them through the referral. I call the surgeon. They say the referral was missing some details so they have to do it again. I call the ortho.

The insurance company calls me about repair shops. I give them the name of the repair shop which I already gave them yesterday. They say they're not in their system but I can use them, but I have to call the repair shop to ask them to contact the insurance company. I call the repair shop and they say the insurance company is supposed to email them.

I feel like at a certain point these constant fetch quests become unreasonable?? Is it too much to expect these groups to communicate with each other instead of making me run back and forth between them???
