!!!!! THE COMMUNITY VS INDIVIDUAL commentary is my favourite thing about this movie. i loved what ragnarok did with the deconstruction of heroism and how L&T pulls it apart completely and shows thor as someone who doesn't really have a sense of self outside of the expectations he's been trapped in since childhood and as someone who ultimately crumbles under the weight of it all, his own failure both the perceived one and the very real one cemented even more by the distrust of the people who have seen him as a saviour.

and i think it really brings home the loneliness of it and how bogus the concept is; you cannot serve the people you're standing apart from, heroism is inherently hyperindividualistic and isolating and of course when thor fails at it he isolates himself even further because he doesn't really know how else to cope with any of it but to heal, to truly heal he has to come back, re-join the community not as a king but as its member and for the community to really mend itself it has to embrace him back into its fold.

Chapter 24 - Too Many Questions

        “This is the only delivery my contact will be able to make for some time,” he warned, his voice suddenly as tired as the rest of him.

        Eir nodded as if she knew exactly why. Then again she was there when Vanlandi spoke of Amora’s ransacked jail cell and she was not a fool so maybe she did. 

“I have other contacts,” continued Loki, “but none as reliable as this one was. Do stress to your aides the importance of reading twice before doing once. I can’t promise a fast turn around on supplies from now on”

“Understandable. How is your back?”

“In pain. How is Jarl’s potion?”

“Simmering”

“Who among us isn’t?” shrugged Loki and added, “I have one question for you, not strictly a medical one.”

Loki's Forever {Flashback Memory}{Part One}

{Two weeks before}

Odin Odinson, the King of Asgard, was hosting a birthday party that evening for Y/n because, even though you were not related to the family, Y/n had been part of many royal duties and business through Frigga who had grown quite fond of you. Y/n was also close friends with both Thor and Loki and often hung around with them until Odin decided to give Y/n a place within the castle. Soon you became part of the family since you were often there and around, Odin and Frigga started looking at you as part of the family, while Loki and Thor thought very different things about you. To celebrate a year of you being part of their family, they wanted to host a party for you inviting many if not all of those in Asgard to come.

(16+) = Aggressiveness, jealousy, more physical touch.

Loki's POV:

Loki had finished getting himself ready even though there wasn't much for him to do, his father wanted him in his usual green-laced Asgardian leather, he smoothed his hair back so it looked decent instead of it dangling around, messy as he usually leaves it. Loki had gotten Y/n a small gift, a small bouquet of white flowers on a band that would go around their wrist if they accepted it. Loki was worried that you wouldn't. Loki put the bracelet back into the small box it had come in and held it in his hands as he left his room and made his way to where the guests had already started to arrive.

Loki walked into the hall that had been decorated by strings of lights that hung all around the ceiling. To the right there was a seating area where people could sit down and chat and a bar set up, knowing that Asgardians loved to drink. To the left, they had set up a huge table with food spread all over it, mixes of sweets and meats and anything that anyone could want.

As Loki made his way over to the bar, he sat himself down leaning against the counter, he looked down at the box and slowly twisted it around, he was nervous, a God is never nervous, some part of his hated the fact that he was nervous over the of seeing Y/n dressed up, part of him also enjoyed it.

"Ah, Brother!" Loki heard a deep voice from behind him, along with a slap on his back next. "I see you got Y/n a gift?" Thor asked, walking around the bar and sitting on the stool next to him.

"You may be right... you may be wrong." Loki slightly frowned, closing his hands around the box.

"No worries Brother, nothing to be ashamed of," Thor says with a small smirk. "Unless of course, Y/n chooses someone else." He said with a chuckle and walked away from Loki.

Loki slightly gritted his teeth, he did like anything about what Thor had just said, knowing that he would be competitive when it comes to Y/n and that's what he was afraid of.

Y/n POV:

After a long few hours of getting ready, Y/n finally looked at your reflection in the mirror. You had taken the whole morning to shower, pick out the perfect dress and figure out with your maids what to do with your hair.

A few hours later you finally settled down on a beautiful emerald green dress, you sat down in front of a small mirror while the maids figured out what to do with your hair. They decided to put your hair up in a low bun and put a few strains of flowers along it.

"What do you think?" Gina asked, walking up slowly behind you as you looked in the mirror.

"Oh! Gina, I think it's perfect!" you explain with a smile on your face. "I don't think I've ever looked so..."

"Beautiful?" A small voice came from the door of your room as someone walked in. "Oh wow." Frigga smiled as she walked over to you and Gina.

"I couldn't have done it with Gina's help," Y/n said, giving Gina a warm hug in thanks.

"Your work here has served you well Gina." Frigga smiled, "If I may have a word with Y/n before we head to the party?" she asked, looking towards Gina.

"Of course, ma'am," Gina replied with a smile. She gave a small bow and quietly grabbed the things she had brought with her and left the room.

"Is there something wrong?" Y/n asks with a little concern in her voice.

"No, nothing at all." Frigga says, "I just wanted to check up on you, and see how you were feeling." She says standing up and moving to the other side of Y/n looking at their reflection in the mirror.

"To be honest, I do feel a little nervous." Y/n says, "But I think everything will work out fine." you say with a smile.

Frigga smiles, "Everyone is always nervous going to parties like these, especially if it's meant for you." she says, slightly squeezing your shoulder. "Have you decided who you're going to dance with yet?" She asked, curious.

"I have to pick someone to dance with?" You asked. You knew there would be dancing but you didn't think you'd have to choose. "I-I don't know... I didn't really think about it," you said looking at Frigga.

Based on your feelings you knew you wanted to dance with Loki... but you also knew that there was a chance that Thor would also ask you to dance. You really didn't know how to feel or what would happen.

Frigga moved and walked over to the door. "No worries, let's not worry about that at the moment," she says with a smile.

Y/n looked in the mirror again and smiled. "Whatever happens will happen. It's time for a little fun." You said walking over and linking arms with Frigga, who smiled at you.

Y/n felt proud as you and Frigga made your way down to the Hall.

Here’s a little scene I wrote and decided to publish on here for anyone who may like it. Set after Valkyrie leaves the ship with the Skrull. Please note I don’t usually write any fanfic, but The Marvels have really got me invested, so it’s definitely not perfect!

Carol turned her back as soon as the bifrost beamed Val and the Skrulls back to New Asgard. Sombrely making her way back to her “unintentional team”

Kamala squealed. “So who was that?” Asking in a sing songy voice to Carol.

Monica sighed

Carol looked up very seriously. “The king of New Asgard.” She said matter of factly.

Monica laughed as Kamala scrunched up her face. “No I know who she is. I mean WHOOOO is she?” Kamala ensured she put a great emphasis on who. Hoping the great Captain Marvel would get the hint.

“Valkyrie. The King of New Asgard.” Carol said still not understanding Kamala’s undertone.

Kamala smacked her forehead. “No, I know her name and occupation. Who is she?” The super teen decided to wink really hard on the who.

“I’m going to bed.” Monica announced. Kamala watched her climb into the single bed ensuring her back was facing the other two.

“Well I call her Val…” Carol said while taking a seat at the table in the center of the ship.

“UGH” Kamala exclaimed “but who is she?” Kamala knew better than to ask point blank the relationship status of two people. Her parents would be ashamed. Especially if it was about someone she’s looked up to for years and years. Someone who is so amazing she deserves to have someone to love and be loved …

“The last Valkyrie of the Asgard Court.”

It went on like this for sometime until a deep sigh is heard from the woman on the bed. “Kamala is asking, who she is to you.” Monica said. She knew this game would never end. Her Aunt Carol maybe earth’s mightiest hero, but she does not pick up on subtile hints.

“Oh.” Carol exclaimed. “A friend.”

Kamala falls to the floor ever so dramatically. “It didn’t look like you were just friends. Seemed like you had a history?” She peered up at Carol from her position on the floor.

“Well we figured we were better off as friends.” Carol picked up a newspaper off the table she was sitting at and flipped through its pages.

How could she be so nonchalant about this! The Captain Marvel just admitting to having a past fling with The King of Asgard! “I’ve never had a moment like that with anyone I’m just friends with.” Kamala scooted herself closer to Carol using her feet to move her body up. It was too late Carol was enthralled in her newspaper and she could hear Monica’s light snores from the bed. “Ugh never mind. I can just write about it.”

“Yeah you do that.” Carol said who really didn’t hear what the young girl said. Just wanted to have some alone time.

Kamala’s mouth dropped open. “Permission from THE Captain Marvel!” She squealed in delight quickly pulling out her phone. “This is gonna get so many hits!”
