when mog was little and living with corvus in the republic, he would constantly keep one hand on her shoulder and steer her around in public, making sure she never goes too far and would tighten his grip immensely whenever she did something he didnt like (ie. speak, draw attention to herself, etc.). thats when she knew she was going to be in so much trouble when they got home.

now cue mog as a teenager, living in nevermoor, and shes freaking out about something or maybe having a panic attack and crying, and jupiter tries to comfort her by putting his hand on her shoulder.

MORRIGAN HEADCANONS

morrigan's left-handed, but was horribly abused trained out of it

she's an incredible swimmer, with breaststroke being her best (therefore, the broad shoulders)

she often communicates with the dead, and one time dragged oscar wilde into lit class her to prove that dorian gray and basil hallward were NOT just 'best friends'. he was not happy.

she can shadow travel and mirror hop, although anah has banned her from doing both because it causes AWFUL nosebleeds.

and i like the idea that mog's an eventide girlie but is actually a wonderful child and mildmay's a moringtide boi but in hollowpox, he...y'know

anyway if mildmay is still alive by silverborn i'll prolly hate him w/ a burning passion but as of now i still sorta like him pls don't hurt me

Unit 919 sleep headcanons:

Mog: doesn't take up much space and stays in one place

Hawthorne: sleeps with multiple plushies which get knocked off the bed over the course of the night

Cadence: notorious for subconscious cuddling in her sleep. Will never admit it.

Archan: sleepwalks

Thaddea: hogs all the blankets

Francis: cannot sleep without one particular plushie he's had forever. Will never admit this, but will also get very anxious if he can't find said plushie.

Anah: talks in her sleep and says surprisingly disturbing stuff

Mahir: sleeps with textbooks under his pillow on the off chance he really will absorb the information

Lam: sleeps very deeply, and is almost impossible to wake up

small little things/details i headcannon about some people (and cats) in the Nevermoor series universe (:

*mahir has reading glasses (this just makes sense to me)

*cadence is pretty good at chess (kedgeree too, so when she's over at the hotel they sometimes play a game or two and the others like morrigan, jack or charlie watch if they all have time ofc)

*martha has like a really sweet tooth (explains all the swsweetness e radiates)

*dave (hawthorne's dad) does the cooking and he wears a floraly apron while doing so (idk why this is very specific in my mind)

*fen's favourite place to nap is in jupiter's study because there's where she feels the most comfot/safe (she doesn't have to put on a tough demeanor which i assume has a lot to do with her past)

that's about all for today i guess, maybe there might me more in the future but who knows (:

Dumping my nevermoor headcanons on you because even though nobody asked, I can't keep them to myself anymore.

Jack is aroace and Mog is an asexual lesbian (or maybe that's just me pushing myself into them lol)

Hawthorne gives off bisexual vibes and Cadence is a lesbian

Jack reads science fiction, and fantasy (he likes six of Crows) and he listens to classical music (favorite composer is Rachmaninoff or Litvinovsky) and surprisingly enough, Tom Lehrer, The Smiths, and Queen

Morrigan likes Mother Mother (even though she doesn't have one), I can't decide by the scissor sisters, and Melanie Martinez!

Jupiter secretly (he thinks nobody knows but literally everyone does) enjoys cooking as a hobby, Morrigan likes drawing, and Jack writes in his free time

Jack is having Arch teach him violin since he already knows to play the cello (it takes him a week before he gets used to it being up on his neck)

Cadence enjoys watching murder mysteries.

Thaddea loves watching cat videos even though she swears she doesn't

Hawthorne is ADHD (Hyper active in particular), Mog is autistic and her special interest is birds

Arch also plays the Viola (not just the violin) and often does small street performances

Francis has perfectionism issues because of his Aunt Hester

Lambeth has migraines from time to time due to her knack and lack of mastery over it

Mahir aspires to learn every dead language in existence before he dies

Anah watches atla, she-ra, and other 2d animated kids shows

Thaddea and Anah are dating (thaddea is a cat person and Anah is a dog person, there relation ship is literally butch4femme)

here are my If The Swifts Were Jewish Headcanons! mostly pesach ones because I am excited!

1. Baby Dave sings ma nishtanah (the four questions) every year, when she was born Hawthorne was sad that she would be taking over so sometimes they do it together

2. Homer prepares for the seder by thinking of sarcastic comments and the best ways to tease everyone, but he also has a really good dvar torah planned

3. Helena can’t always make it in (because of extreme weather events), so Cat and Dave send her a package way in advance with a mini seder plate and matzah and messages from the whole family

4. Hawthorne really really really likes those fruit slice candy things, they’re all he eats on Pesach

5. Morrigan is invited over for a seder one year, and after she gets the gist of what’s going on, she recreates barad (the hail plague) with inferno and an ice cube. everyone is very impressed.

6. Cat has at least three ugly pesach sweaters

7. Every year there is a huge argument over who is the wise son, the wicked son, the simple son, and the son who does not know how to ask. But they all fall asleep before they can decide who’s who

8. Hawthorne finds the afikomen, but only because Helena is away

9. Dearborn is SO MAD that Hawthorne has to miss classes, but Miss Cheery and murgatroyd manage to convince her not to shave his eyebrows off

and! bonus Deucalion headcanon!

10. The smoking parlor produces matzah ball soup smoke, spring flowers smoke, and saltwater smoke. horseradish smoke and vacuum cleaner smoke were briefly produced, but were not fan favorites

idea: morrigan becomes a spaghetti patron, not because she wants to get as many kids into the society as possible, but because the kids in gresham found out that she sucks at saying no to them, even if they have a shit or even non-existent knack

I think he was totally doing it on purpose to mess with people, that seems like something he would do.

The deleted scene makes this even funnier to think about because he’s deliberately messing with both hotel inhabitants and the construction workers doing the renovation in the silliest ways. Getting “exorcised” but just going to the room above to continue your shenanigans? Banging on the pipes? Dancing all day? Hilarious.

It’s also so funny that he seems to have been doing this since before Morrigan even arrived?!

so squall being mistaken for a ghost in the first book because people caught glimpses of him and heard him humming in the deucalion when he was visiting on the gossamer leaves two possibilities, since we know he can only be heard or seen when he's on the gossamer if he wants to be

he forgot himself while looking around / spying on morrigan, accidentally let himself be spotted or heard for a second before realizing he had to bail

he was doing it on purpose to fuck with people

i prefer door #2, partially because it's funnier, partially because i don't think he'd be careless enough to be seen by accident, and partially because... i mean look, if you can't actually physically interact with anything around you, you gotta do something to entertain yourself.
