^yes i’m reusing these two ↓ from the Magnus post, it’s a good shot of both of them!

Unfortunately had to cut off Magnus’ “burn all dead bodies for god!” so Tumblr wouldn’t rescale the image, but this is the same panel :P

I remember it took me quite a few re-reads to fully parse the details of Jon’s death. This panel is key to understanding everyone’s positions -- Jon is out far enough to be struck by the spell because he’s pushing Magnus into the chapel. And of course if Magnus hadn’t put up a fuss earlier they both would have been safe in the chapel. It’s no wonder Magnus reacts the way he did, even most adults would struggle with that guilt.

Also I’m gonna link the page where Duane and Ruffles’ Nana discuss why he remembers the story so differently now, because It’s super important and good (and Jon is featured in the last panel!)

Unlike Magnus’ post, there isn’t really a happy ending to this one. (Though yes @ballroomnotoriety​ I also remember that ask about Magnus growing up to torture animals.) But for Jon -- well, they took what comfort they could find, I guess, even if it probably wasn’t the healthiest coping mechanism:
