So tired of the way fandom has started to require kissing/sex to consider pairings canon. You would not have survived watching The X-files. Also you have limited understanding of romance/sexuality and media in general

Man I just finished Babel and I was excited to read discussions online because there's so much going on in it with so many little things and just....angry white people. Everywhere. Truly a dead dove moment.

#the “you can't trust white people” theme might be a little like...aggressive but gosh you are not wrong #rf kuang #it was such a good depiction imo #it felt so much like explaining to white (or sometimes black) people what the problem is #especially felt like explaining being queer to straight people #i feel like a lot of people have at least a vague intellectual understanding of racism even if they don't see the racism #babel an arcane history #babel or the necessity of violence #also she captured a fair bit of mixed race and chinese diaspora feelings #also also i can see the relationship to the secret history and the fact that this is a rebuttal of dark academia while being dark academia #also realizing i dislike dark academia tbh #just...the ye olde university feeling is not my style #hence i went to engineering school where it had a je ne sais quois that i think is widespread neurodivergence #the good old boys clubs just do not interest me and i cannot really care about their lifestyles #it's not bad mind you it's just not for me #babel however is the exception that made me realize i dislike dark academia #hated the cloisters #got a rec for the secret history and had negative interest in that #i really want more and better depictions of engineering school and like...any similar experiences to what i had #they just do things like the social network where it's still a rich kid good old boys club but now with “nerds” who are just business majors #like the big tech guys of the modern era are primarily business guys not like...building computers in their basement #give me aome barely functional people who lean heavily into being weird once they go to school and they have hijinks like #updating archlinux and giving the other people shots if you get xyz system working again #first to get x11 back? REST OF YOU SHOTS. first to get internet back? SHOTS. sound? SHOTS. window manager? SHOTS.#or like...drama over your roommate not knowing how to do basic adult things like boil water or do laundry

in retrospect while Discovery is incredibly plot and drama heavy I really appreciate how well it’s been able to hold onto the technobabble mystery of it all throughout. I know that the burn is widely considered to be a low point for the show but for a low Su’Kal as a stand-alone plot was really good? And s4 brought it back to a season long ethics and science exploration which was nice. It may have made sacrifices to be more serialized but whoever decided that it would do so on a ship focused on experimental science was brilliant because so far it’s been a good balance

#disco is like half engineering station half everything else #good or bad someone is always sciencing it up #even if they’re screaming at each other while doing it #star trek discovery #a mushroom network absorbed peoples consciousnesses and at one point reincarnated someone #big drama big science #I really do love this show #it’s aged so well for me like in retrospect the cringiest bits are fun #like Michael saving the day by doing the equivalent of booting up windows 97 on a computer from 2022 #is Star Trek not supposed to be dumb plots and silly solutions with weird science mysteries #I don’t think Disco is failing just because it takes a pause and stops taking itself seriously every once in a while

im so so tired jsjdhbj an engineering employers panel just scared me half to death with their startups and innovation and investment and passion commitment linkedin networking etc etc etc i hate it here

#i can't do it #this kind of thing is not meant for people like me #i came here and suffered through it to get myself some niche skills so that the kind of person i am doesn't matter #but i attend an employers panel and they're saying that they don't want your skills #they want you as a person #you need to be networking and making connections within the industry and building soft skills AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA #i can't do this i'm genuinely too disabled #should have been a vet fr #i don't want to move to cambridge and work in startups until i decide to do a phd and go straight back to [current redacted uni] i canttt #need to get a job and then find something to live for but unfortunately for me #those two things are separate #yet i'm in the field of people who act like they're not #ksjhgdcksjd i don't understand why it can't be about the work #and why it has to be about me #times like this when i want someone to take charge of my life entirely. which is a really bad thing to want #but at the same time i can't deal with it alone #and that's what i am right now !!#tangent on this rant but my dad should theoretically be great to have around to help since he's also an engineer #should be great in general tbh. i have a dad isn't that cool #but he doesn't really love me #and hasn't for a long time #yet i am completely reliant on him #and if anything goes wrong - which it easily could in my current state - my mum can't support me #hgjvsfdtycu;ioakljshdgvfctjyulaisdkjchg that's enough of that sorry #what a shit day #started so nice and went down like a lead balloon

Pixel art for today based on videogame Metal Stoker for game console PC Engine. It is something like science fiction cybernetical action. It is even has a intro with a cyborg. Such. Count it as a second Quake. According to game screens, it is flying-shooting videogame about a future.

And this is drawing about the same theme. About theme with cyborg intro. So, I draw my own cyborg. Cyborg makes a connection with his main computer using wires. And he was impressed with data, that he received. Into his mind, it was a flow of data, a lot of running process. From a different electronic calculations machine, all the data goes by network protocol into main computer. And with wires cyborg just establish connection with his main computer. To collect data. And analyze them.

Amazing data! – says cyborg. Cyborg speaks – Fascinating!

What, it is interesting data. So interesting how planets moves. Which, it is interesting asteroid. It has interesting components. And what a data goes from a second planet near the sun. Red dwarf. Wow! It is very interesting!

bing chat is trained on internet text and in an internet argument it is statisitcally probable that when challenged you double down.

So it attempts to gaslight me into thinking that I have written an AI-generated Battlestar Galactica script, claims it is on a separate newsletter that it somehow has access to, and, when pressed, fabricates a lengthy excerpt from the nonexistent blog post.

Ironically, I did write about Galactica, a chat-based "knowledge search" from Meta that had a similar habit of fabricating text.

If a search engine will find what you're asking for whether or not it exists, it's worse than useless.

~Friday June 28th 2024~

Studying at home tonight and finally!! Finished Network+ study videos. Tomorrow is PBQ and labs day and hopefully Sunday is test day. I haven’t posted many pictures using my PC setup so I figured I’d do that since it looks halfway decent today.

Productive for: 3 hrs
