i was thinking about each of fallenclan's leaders (likely due to the dtiys) and then came to pondering about each of the deputies that didn't become leader, and how i think they'd behave as a leader. so here's a rambling summary of my thoughts!

nettlestem -- i strongly believe if nettlestem outlived scorchstar and was still deputy, she would have stepped down and given the leadership position to goldenflare. she was already pretty old at the time of becoming deputy, and i highly doubt she ever expected/wanted to be leader. HOWEVER, in this hypothetical, let's assume she did become leader. i think nettlestar would be strict but fair. i think a lot of her policies as leader would be pretty similar to scorchstar, since nettlestem only ever lived under one leader (and was mates with her). she'd chose goldenflare as her deputy for sure, and would probably take a less and less active role in leadership duties as he became more confident. i don't think she'd be leader for very long.

toro -- similarly to nettlestem, i don't think toro ever expected to outlive goldenstar, and i don't think she'd be fully onboard for leading a clan, but i believe she'd be an excellent leader if she ever had to step into the role. i think her leadership style would be a lot like goldenstar's, but i think cats would probably come to her with more personal problems as well (i might be wrong, but goldenstar seemed the type to be a bit intimidating to others, at least until they got to know him). she would have chosen maplethorn as her deputy.

hailcrash -- i think hailcrash would have been an unusual leader, stepping pretty far away from her predecessor's leadership styles, but ultimately she'd be a good leader. she wouldn't be afraid of making hard choices, and would be especially understanding towards younger cats. i think she'd take an especial interest in apprentice-training, and be sure to make herself as approachable as possible for the newer generations. she would want to be a leader her clanmates aren't intimidated by or afraid of. she would chose cherrydust as her deputy.

crowflame -- crowstar would be extremely strict but also fair. he wouldn't tolerate apprentice foolishness or petty arguments within the clan, and would be deadset on making sure the clan remains unified. the younger cats of the clan would 100% be extremely intimdated by him (and dread being sent to his den after misbehaving), but i think the older cats and those similar in age to him would enjoy teasing him. when he passed down the deputy mantle, he picked poppyfeather, and i believe this is because they have similar values/beliefs, and due to their close mentor-apprentice relationship. one part of me says he'd pick her as his deputy, but i also think he'd recognize the need for having a deputy who would challenge him or think differently from him. if not poppyfeather or antbite, i think he would have chosen bluefern, due to her empathy and determination to do what's right, as well as her being completely ready to call out crowstar if he did anything she disapproved of.

poppyfeather -- poppystar would be similar to crowstar in that she'd be strict but fair. i think she'd be more gentle than crowflame given her charismatic personality. i could say the same for any of these choices, but i think especially so with poppystar she'd be widely respected by both fallenclan and the other clans. poppystar would tolerate ZERO bullshit from shallowclan for sure. her vengeful side definitely has the potential to cause problems in her leadership (i don't think she'd ever be truly cruel towards clanmates - she'd probably hold grudges but never let it get in the way of her leadership) in regards to outsiders or the other clans. i could see renewed conflict with shallowclan and violetstar under poppystar's leadership. she would chose skyfrost as her deputy, recognizing the need for a more open-minded and forgiving cat to help her lead.

skyfrost -- the idea of the goober as leader is really funny to me. his policies and leadership style would be very similar to goldenstar, but his personality couldn't be further away. some clanmates might doubt him due to his childish and care-free attitude, and i think he might have trouble navigating leadership at first, but he'd grow into it. leadership would probably make skyfrost more mature (as i belief deputyship has done in-canon universe). i vaguely remember it being said that ospreyswipe would have been skyfrost's chosen deputy successor if ravenstar wasn't so awful, and i think it would make sense for ospreyswipe to be skystar's deputy. however, if he wanted someone more serious/able to balance his leadership, he would pick antbite.

levi -- although levi is the current deputy, i highly doubt he will ever succeed ravenstar, both due to levi's age and the fact that after ravenstar's leadership, i doubt any fallenclan cat would even let levi become leader. he'd be a lot like ravenstar as leader, but way more unregulated. levi seems the type who knows how to follow, not how to lead. he's good at supporting ravenstar, but he would be terrible at leading by himself. he'd be a lot harsher and more openly cruel than ravenstar as well. i think he'd chose sleepydawn as his deputy, recognizing his loyalty and "likemindedness."

YEAHHHH I love love love this analysis dragon..... its so accurate. i really love the idea that Nettlestem would give up the leadership to Goldenstar. honestly? its not something id ever considered before but its so in character for her tbh, she just wants to support from the sidelines <3 and you're absolutely RIGHT with the poppyfeather thing, her vengeful thing could make problems yeah but shes different from ravenstar in that she doesnt let her personal little petty squabbles get in the way of whats good for her CLAN!!!

Lightshine: (round/"soft" fluffy cat. has a splotch over his eye but i forget to draw it past the beginning.) Tortishell tom with yellow eyes. Darkthorn: (Spikey "messy"-fluffy cat. the emo one.) Dark Gray cat with green eyes. Mouseclaw/star: (dorky short furred boy with big ears and the wavy hair tuft that looks like a battered wife) pale brown tom with blue eyes. Blackstone: Short furred plain-looking cat that gets flung and dies. (Darkthorns dad) Black tom with blue eyes and a white mark on his chest. (Spotted pelt is the previous deputy that died and name isnt decided but shes a girl.)- white flecked she-cat with green eyes. Breezecloud: the random cat thats in the dark forest. Gray and white tom with (pending) eyes. Nettlestar: Girl tabby that is also died. Lightshines mom and the leader before Mousestar. Light brown tabby she-cat with dark stripes and (pending) eyes. (her design pictured isnt exact)

BASICALLY plot: Lightshine is an evil medicine cat who uses his high status to disregard clan rules and eventually forces his childhood friend Mouseclaw to become leader - whom he uses as a puppet for his own rule- by faking prophecies. His mothers trust in him and the clans grief of his father prevents them from noticing his ambition before it goes out of control- which it does, when he eventually kills his own mother in secret in order to finalize his plans of becoming pseudo-leader while also being the clan's prophet. Darkthorn was the third of their childhood friend trio, but didn't quite get the attention Mouseclaw or Lightshine got. They grow bitter from loneliness, and their pessimism helps them realize Lightshines evil intentions when he witnesses the way the tom attempts to court every cat he gets along with, and the suspiciously casual way he orders other cats around. (Mouseclaw has more story of his own but in this context he's Lightshines victim who gets taken advantage of by his "best friend", but is too caught up in his own familial issues and 'feeling of unworthiness' to realize how cruel the other really is)

It wasn't enough that those filthy StormClan cats murdered Silverstar--they had to gloat about it by sending their deputy Rockdove over with the body while feigning innocence. "We found him like this," the fish-breaths claimed.

On the night of the leafbare gathering, the group of TalonClanners will hide in the shadows until Finchstar and her cats are traveling home. We have several characters planned to die in this battle, including the great elderly leader Finchstar.

We'd love for your character to play a role in this historical fight!

another dark forest inhabitant (in the same universe as nettlestar & almondflight if anyone remembers them...<3 diff from melted ice) to be more specific

rn her name is lovesick but i think im gonna have that be her dark forest name/title (depending on the actions committed, a cat is given a diff name as a way to erase any good they did. the only focus is on the bad and thats what the name is far. for example darkeneddream's clan/warrior name was bugeyes and he had to be a good enough cat to be appointed deputy)

"Lovesick" was some cat's henchman idk who that cat is rn though but im thinking she was willingly going along with her. they weren't partners in crime. she was just working for this other guy. important. They were also from the same clan but I guess left ? idk what other guy's end goal was

said main evildoer was caught and killed. lovesick was taken in to the clan that defeated her, and even though her personality before was never too energetic before, cats def saw that she seemed more down that usual and chalked it up to her mourning. she wasn't though. she was just idk bored ? she was saved when she was never in trouble, Lovesick describes the other cat as "as the one star in the vast empty blue sky" she didn't worship this other cat, just thought they were fun to be around. I'll have to actually give this other lady structure before I land on what their relationship was

anyway i think as some tale told by the living cats, there's something about either saving someone who hasn't asked to be saved or something...because she most definitely did not consider herself as someone who needed it or if it's to completely erase anything she ever did, lovesick is a cat who haunts those falling in or out of any sort of love. if thats the case she'll have to had to do something REALLY bad

there's also this part of her story i want to include about rot and sickness. i think i could play that into butterflies in stomach thing.

LightningClan and DiamondClan info

LightningClan:

LightningClan was formed by a group of rogues who got caught in a storm and during an attempt to find shelter one of the cats; named Nettle noticed some lightning strike near an entrance to what appeared to be a forest grotto which was apparently pretty safe from the storm, so the rogues found refuge in the area and eventually decided to call it home. Soon after, Nettle got a vision from a cat known as Flaxstar who informed her that the place was once a home for a group of cats who had since been wiped out with Flaxstar himself being a part of that group at one point. Nettle gets her nine lives and becomes Nettlestar and everything else falls into place with the clan being named "LightningClan" after the way the camp was discovered.

DiamondClan: DiamondClan cats used to be a part of the Tribe of Rushing Waters who saw clan life as being somewhat better than tribe life and moved out and settled in the mountains that were pretty close to LightningClan's forest (not the camp, just the forest in general) the reason for which being that they're more accustomed to the mountains in comparison to the forests and plains. Their leader Brightstar was formerly known as Path that Burns Bright or just Bright for short. Also DiamondClan was named after the gemstones that grew out of the walls of the camp.

They’re the Medicine Cat and Leader of RiverClan respectively, which means a lot happens that tends to complicate things, but they still end up finding the time for night dates 💜

Lori's name was Bambi, you'll see why when I share her design

Shane was named Loki cause he was an absolute menace to his poor twolegs + everyone names their black cats loki [y'all need to get more creative I beg you]

Bravestar's kittypet name was Ranger

Mousepaw's warrior name is Jaggedface, I've finally settled on it. And his kittypet name was Peanut cause of how small he was as a kitten. Negan is not to learn about that under any circumstances.

Pigeonstep's kittypet name I actually can't decide on. I kinda want it to be close to Glenn, but I also feel like he'd get just a really generic cat name. A bigger issue though is that his name is pigeon and what I have in mind for him rn is something like this:

not very pigeon-y coloring. And I'm like 100% set on having tawney/calico coloring, but I am willing to shift to a dark grey over black to make "pigeon" make sense

Nettlestar's kittypet name was Maleficent. I wanted to make it Elsa, but I plan on her having a darker coat, so that doesn't really make sense. I was also planning on giving her green eyes though so Maleficent like really works color-wise

also Herschel Jr. is Greenkit and RJ is Bravekit. I don't esplicitly have designs for them thought out, but I felt bad just ignoring them even though they're both born well after the time period I'm focusing on

Negan's kittypet name was Ace (which is a really cool name and I was gonna be mean and make it really cutesy but I'm kinda in love with Ace now so that's not happening)

Just as tensions were reaching a breaking point between StormClan and TalonClan, the latter’s leader Silverstar was found dead on the border.

TalonClan cats want revenge, but newly named Nettlestar is struggling to select a deputy, and the only healer they had—Petalpaw—is gone. Now is not the time to initiate a war in Silverstar’s honor.

When your leader won’t fight for justice, sometimes you have to take matters into your own claws.
