Lightshine: (round/"soft" fluffy cat. has a splotch over his eye but i forget to draw it past the beginning.) Tortishell tom with yellow eyes. Darkthorn: (Spikey "messy"-fluffy cat. the emo one.) Dark Gray cat with green eyes. Mouseclaw/star: (dorky short furred boy with big ears and the wavy hair tuft that looks like a battered wife) pale brown tom with blue eyes. Blackstone: Short furred plain-looking cat that gets flung and dies. (Darkthorns dad) Black tom with blue eyes and a white mark on his chest. (Spotted pelt is the previous deputy that died and name isnt decided but shes a girl.)- white flecked she-cat with green eyes. Breezecloud: the random cat thats in the dark forest. Gray and white tom with (pending) eyes. Nettlestar: Girl tabby that is also died. Lightshines mom and the leader before Mousestar. Light brown tabby she-cat with dark stripes and (pending) eyes. (her design pictured isnt exact)

BASICALLY plot: Lightshine is an evil medicine cat who uses his high status to disregard clan rules and eventually forces his childhood friend Mouseclaw to become leader - whom he uses as a puppet for his own rule- by faking prophecies. His mothers trust in him and the clans grief of his father prevents them from noticing his ambition before it goes out of control- which it does, when he eventually kills his own mother in secret in order to finalize his plans of becoming pseudo-leader while also being the clan's prophet. Darkthorn was the third of their childhood friend trio, but didn't quite get the attention Mouseclaw or Lightshine got. They grow bitter from loneliness, and their pessimism helps them realize Lightshines evil intentions when he witnesses the way the tom attempts to court every cat he gets along with, and the suspiciously casual way he orders other cats around. (Mouseclaw has more story of his own but in this context he's Lightshines victim who gets taken advantage of by his "best friend", but is too caught up in his own familial issues and 'feeling of unworthiness' to realize how cruel the other really is)

week 3 of my nanowrimo is done!

i had fun writing this one! making little short stories that connect together is fun!

in case you missed it, this week's story is a little dive into the story of a human man and his demonic totally-not-boyfriend! the story ended up a lot more slow than i first intended, but i think they're still very close. you should read them as close.

the story also ended up very "here's a teaser" instead of "here's the whole thing condensed into roughly 5-7k words" so it might feel a little unfinished?? but hey! plenty of room for my eventual goal to make it a full story eventually!

An old sketch I had saved on my phone for quite some time and decided to finish it.

Originally I was going for a Drukhari wytch but ended up in something that’s a bit in Moebius vibe. Or Dune even.

Ylva Darkthorn was born on the dark and twisted world of Commorragh, the city of shadows, home to the Drukhari. From a young age, she showed an aptitude for the dark arts and the manipulation of pain and pleasure, traits highly valued by the cruel and sadistic denizens of Commorragh.

As she grew, Ylva found herself drawn to the Wych Cults, where she honed her skills in the arena of combat and performance. Her agility, speed, and deadly grace made her a rising star in the gladiatorial spectacles that were so central to Drukhari society.

However, Ylva's ambitions extended beyond the confines of the arenas. She sought to rise through the ranks of the Wych Cults, not just as a skilled combatant, but as a cunning and charismatic leader. Through manipulation and ruthless ambition, she began to gather a small but fiercely loyal following of fellow Wyches.

BEHOLD! my my painstakingly drawn map of the lands of the old faith, prior to the elimination of all but five of the old gods and before all their little territories got assimilated into five big ones. most of these territories were named fairly randomly, with me just piecing together syllables until i got something that sounded decent, but there are some that are named with some intention in mind...

for example, the territories of Andra, Spora, and Pura, would later become the land of Anura.

the territories surrounding Bramblewood and Darkthorn would go onto become Darkwood.

the coastal span from Ankora to Depes would later be named Anchordeep.

Apogea is a kingdom of moon worshippers, headed by their God-Queen, Selene. Selene was the revered god of the moon, the lunar cycle, and the tides. she departed the material plane very early into the war in a bid to keep her crown, and the power it held, from falling into the wrong hands or being destroyed altogether. in her absence, her half-god-half-mortal daughter Naiad became the next queen.

Tepeche is the land which Belanoche, God of Fear and Deceit rules. Shortly after the departure of selene, belanoche would go on to stage a coup that would leave apogea's political infrastructure in shambles. he would take the lunar throne and rule both lands as his own until shamura launched their own invasion on apogea, at which point belanoche would retreat to his homeland. the land of Tepeche would later be split between silk cradle and darkwood, with belanoche presumed killed by shamura (lol. lmao even)

Lumina is the kingdom of sun worshippers. that's all i got LOL i just wanted to include them too cuz i based apogea and lumina off of those datamined sun and moon fleeces

@outofangband asked me how i'd do the narn in the warrior cats au, so—I'm making it A Post.

The thing about this au is that only the elves are warrior cats? So for stories like the narn which are not elf-focused are not particularly warrior cats. (this is, I think, a bit of a departure from the warrior cats canon, but. so it goes)

I like the idea of Morwen and Hurin's family being a flock of ravens? Certainly some kind of bird. Their names don't change for the au, since they aren't warrior cats or twolegs, so their names can be whatever.

Hurin is shot down by Morgoth, breaking his wing, but he survives, and is kept in his home mostly out of like. spite? Again Morgoth is very silly in this au. And is spending a lot of his time monologuing at this poor bird he keeps in a tupperware with holes poked in it.

The occupation of Dor-Lomin is hmm....actually considering that this is warrior cats (which is. very silly) It can just be Bird Politics. There's a new flock of ravens oppressing our flock.

In the meanwhile—Turin Becomes a Warrior Cat.

How does a bird get fostered by Greystar? Look man—his clan is weird. At the gathering he's like this is our new apprentice and it's this fucking goth bird and everyone else is like sure Greystar. Whatever. Who cares at this point. Anyways, in keeping with our dear Turin's habit of getting new names wherever he goes, he's given a warrior name.

Darkpaw is apprenticed to Greystar himself, and eventually given his warrior name, Darkthorn

most shenanigans after that proceed similarly—(In Nargothrond, Turin is given a different warrior cat name, Bloodslash) a lot of people (woodland creatures) die. Turin little meow meows around for a while. Marries his sister and then they both kill themselves. etc.

Glaurung is. hm. I'm taking suggestions.

When Morgoth eventually releases Hurin he still can't fly—so the poor thing just has to hop around the forest floor until he finds Morwen.

Sadly, it seems like the picrew i previously used(Felidaze's cool cat creator) was taken down.

I used that Picrew mainly because I Cannot Draw Cats for the life of me, and because of art burnout, but I will either find another or being using the character creator on Roblox's Warrior Cats Ultimate Edition to show character designs from here on out. (if you play that, you can often find me in-game playing as the AU characters. Flufftuft, Owlclaw, and Waterberry are my most common ones, although I also have moonchaser, strikeclaw, darkthorn, coalboulder, splashstorm, dawnheart, deadheart, and memorysplash. I also have a fox morph "Yap" and two ocs, Sparrowfall and Leopardclaw/Leopard)

Description; A solitary cat, this brown tabby is most known for her loyalty to her clan. Some believe that she only does her job because she has to, some believe she truly enjoys it. She is sharp-tongued and smart, and it often seems as though she can read minds with how fast she can tell why you are in her den.

Story Notes: While not originally planned for her to have too much story importance, this may change as I write. Spiderheart, her mate, is most obviously based on Sojiro Kurokawa. Her daughter, Darkthorn, is obviously based on Mikako.

Her parents were not clan cats. They were rogues whom left her for dead when she was four moons old-- putting themselves first when being chased by a fox instead of protecting their kit. If not for Cinderstorm and Crowstar, the Skyclan deputy and leader at the time, she surely would have died. She was taken back to Skyclan, and raised alongside Daisytail.

Design Notes: When making her design in the picrew, since I've only ever had rough ideas in my head, i started by exploring every option. the white chest/underbelly and muzzle felt most fitting for her character, alongside the darker fade to her upper back and forehead. And, of course, I made her a tabby since those are commonly found in canon warrior cats. I worry I made her look too much like the fandom designs for Leafpool(oh wow their names also both end in pool. maybe I should change it? hm.) and I'm wondering if I should maybe make some design changed. Fluffy brown tabby with yellow eyes whom is a med cat? hmmmmn... Jokes aside, I enjoy this design!

Other notes: While warrior cats is all fantasy-ish and stuff, with cats like Jayfeather, dovewing, and lionblaze having superpowers in canon, I've been trying to ground the AU somewhat more in reality. Due to this, I've been trying to figure out what to do with Kokoro, seeing as it doesn't seem that cats can have alexithymia. on the other hand, I don't want to erase it. aaaah im smacking myself with both hands.

I tried looking at one mental disorders and stuff that cats can have, and the most I was able to get was: FCD*(Feline Cognitive Disorder), Anxiety Disorders, and OCD(Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder).**

i have just had the best idea but it will change my whole lore (i’m okay w it)

so for the longest time i’ve been trying to figure out how to make kade having this “parasite” in him coherent with the mythology i’ve been inspired by

the things i’ve wanted to achieve with this “parasite” is: horror, eye imagery and the loss of one’s self / confusion with identity

but none of this made sense with what i was going with

at first the parasite was the “forest itself” but like, why would it be evil ?? (which is what i was planning)

but i have finally got it !!

i’m scrapping the idea entirely and replacing it with a different idea

what if kade was a changeling (vine boom effect)

i was thinking abt this plot twist being cringe but i think it adds more to his character (imo) and the way he wishes to connect with people

this makes sense because changelings actually exist in cornish and irish mythology.

essentially they are fairies who steal babies and replace them for the lols WHICH IS HORRIBLE.

i’m not using the exact myth because i don’t want kade to be kidnapped as a baby BUT i still like the idea (like in dnd) that they replace people who already exist.

this is also brilliant because it fits all my criteria !!

i think in the story og kade is already dead. like, you never get to meet og kade, what he was going through, who he was but you meet changeling kade who has all of og kade’s memories and mannerisms and everything.

like… is kade still alive if someone who has the same memories and face replaces him ?? a carbon copy of him replaces him. does that still count AS him ??

philosophy questions aside, i also think it would be so uncanny if things abt him were off. like not his looks but kade having no pictures of people in his life in his house. not his parents, his friends (because ofc changeling kade would not have them). or if he doesn’t have to brush his teeth or brush his hair because he can just instantly change himself !! kade doesn’t have to deal with bed hair !! those r just a few examples

Yep! I haven't really divulged that in the story or the blog (shame on me), but he's son of Patchpelt and uncle to Ravenwing. Not that any of them want to acknowledge that.

If he'd been around for that era, I think he would get -thorn. Darkthorn does sound pretty cool. He's not cold enough to get -frost, but he's plenty dick enough to get -thorn.
