GAIAMOTHERTREE (Ernesto Neto, 2018)

On display from June 30, 2018 to July 29, 2018, GAIAMOTHERTREE is a hand crocheted and knotted structure built in the Zurich Main station. Here people passing but can witness and experience the connection Ernesto creates from fabric ti humanity. This 20 meter high tree offers a space for visitors to rest, explore, and meditate using all of their senses. As Ernesto often invited guests to touch, lean, and smell his creations. Often stuffing spices and herbs in crochet nets for the full sensual experience.

This was Ernesto Neto’s first solo exhibition in Finland, he had been in several group exhibitions but never flew solo until now. This display is accumulation of his work from 2009-2016. This work was on display for a week in 2016 and allowing masses to gather inside and experience Nero’s work in its full sensory effect.
