what if mysterion's netherborn powers weren't something only he had? what if the netherborn powers were another power kenny actually had outside of the superhero game, like his immortality? what if his dark powers were just another curse leveled onto him via the cult of cthulhu?

i've been having fun with this little idea so i figured i'd share it with y'all :3

i have so many world building thoughts about nether hyrbids, but Tango here is a mix of Blaze/Piglin/Human

He can light his fur on fire at will (and against his will if he's emotional enough :D)

“Can we take a break? It’s been a soul’s life!” Tango stretched, cracking his back.

Mumbo paused. “A what?”

Tango frowned. “A soul’s life. You know, like a really really long time.” Mumbo had to know what he was talking about. It was a very common thing.

“Yeah that’s not a thing here. I do agree with the break though.” Mumbo leaned back.

“Flame’s life? Ore’s life? Ender’s life?” Tango pressed on. Mumbo’s expression remained one of blank curiosity. “Oh come on! You guys are the ones so obsessed with time. How else are you supposed to measure the thing?” Tango was certain about his translation, but that certainty was waning with every passing breath.

Mumbo looked up at the sky. “Days? Hours? Minutes? Normal ways to measure?” It was more of a question than an answer.

Now Tango was the curious one. “And how do you know how long those are?”

“Well there’s twenty four hours in a day, and sixty minutes in an hour.” Mumbo shrugged, as if it was the simplest thing in the world.

Tango could feel his mind buffering. All of this was so much more complicated than it needed to be. What was with the Overworld and time anyway? Way too specific and clinical. “And who’s idea was that? Sounds like a big old noodely mess to me.”

Mumbo seemed genuinely baffled at that. “I don’t know, some guy who looked at the sun ages ago.”

Tango paused. Then, he made the wonderful decision to stare directly into the sun. Despite the near blindness coming over him, it was Mumbo, and not his own will, that forced his head back down. “What are you doing?” Mumbo’s hand dug into the back of Tango’s neck as he forced his head down.

“Sun?” Another question with a question.

“No! Sun is bad! Don’t sun!” Mumbo’s attempt at chiding was foiled by the tears of laughter running down his face. He finally managed to pull himself together. “Are you okay?”

Tango blinked a few times. “That’s it! I’m building a roof! Things are so much easier without all this nonsense!”

Whatever sense of composure Mumbo had scrounged up was gone in an instant. “You can’t just build a roof like that! Do you know how long that would take?”

“I’m gonna do it!” The flames on Tango’s head raged. “I knew sky was a bad idea!”

Mumbo stood back, waiting, hoping Tango would calm down before burning up all of their work. And before actually trying to cover up the entire sky. Still, he couldn’t stop laughing at the scene before him.

Thankfully, after a few minutes (or an ore’s life) of yelling at the ‘stupidly coloured menace,’ Tango’s rage died down. Mumbo came and patted him on the back as one would a baby they were trying to burp. “You good?”

Tango coughed up a bit of smoke. “Yeah.”

Mumbo smiled. “Just wait until you see what it’s like in winter. The snow reflects the sun and you can have the same thing happen from looking at the ground!”

“What!?”

They’ve done this a thousand times before. Usually after a nightmare. He reaches a hand towards her, and falters when she flinches back.

“You’re scared of me,” she accuses.

“No, Nim. Never.”

“You’re lying.”

“Well, would you believe me if I said I won’t let anything happen to you regardless?”

She stares at him, searching his face. “You promise?”

“Promise promise.”

There’s nothing sentimental in it; it’s just the spot in the middle of nowhere he happened to get arrested in. The place fading into the dust is as interesting a thing to watch as any. And then it’s just desert. Scrub and squeaky wagon wheels.

A short while into the ride, Beetlejuice starts whistling. The guard whacks him with the rifle.

A short while after that, he attempts to start up a conversation about how they all came to be in this rickety old wagon. The guard whacks him with the rifle.

A short while after that, he starts to lightly kick at the side of the wagon from sheer boredom. The guard whacks him with the rifle. He wonders how long it will be until he develops a concussion.

In the end, the wagon driver manages to get him to where they’re going before the guard knocks him completely senseless, but it’s a close race.

Things are about to get interesting.

“Keep your eyes open. I’m gonna go talk to her.”

“Don’t you think-”

“She’s a child. I’ll be fine.”

There’s the sound of someone dismounting a horse, and then measured footsteps approaching. Only when they’re all but stood over her does Nimona look up, pretending to have only just noticed. The stranger greets her with a winning smile that she immediately dislikes.

“Hey there, Miss. What’re you working on, there?”

Beetlejuice has concluded that whoever named blot fever must have been a massive nerd to think of ink first, because what Lydia has is clearly more of a ‘losing terribly at paintball’ disease. The doctor did say this was going to happen, the kid would get worse before she got better, but he didn't say she was going to look so stupid doing it. 

“You look like a nasty accident at the crayola factory,” he tells her as she slowly laps up broth.

Kind of a fun concept for Kenny and one I think about quite often is what'd it'd be like if he gave into his implied Eldritch abomination side...

Like it's canon that Kenny and his immortality are linked to Cthulhu. And so been implied and played around at least in fanon that Kenny possibly has an Eldritch demon/demonic powers that are destined to show themselves and possibly corrupting our beloved immortal boy. Possibly testing him to force him to give in and turn his back to the world…..would he? Maybe…who knows? Maybe there is some resentment in him angry that people apparently don't remember when he constantly dies over and over…..but my question is more of what would happen if Kenny gave into his Eldritch side..gave into the corruption possibly turning into something down right dangerous….the true Netherborn nightmare Mysterion boasts about in TFBW.….and like the closest we've seen Kenny give into power was through Princess Kenny…but what of original Kenny….or while he's in Mysterion mode…?

I think it'd just be so interesting and so fun to see Kenny get a taste of power….and see what happens next….does he give in? does he use that power….or does he just try to live as normal as possible? Would he use his demonic powers at all if he learned how to better control them…? Maybe where he'd see fit if he had to….or would he just try to hide them…or never use them at all if he could help it…? But really just...what if Kenny just said yes...and let his Eldritch nature just take over? Ha and too what if even if does take over....and he still has control over himself....what then?

Course nothing I know canon will every truly dive into...but it opened a door...and I just can't close it. XD
